First of all… great service from the young Lady who helped us. Right next to our hotel, the Kissel, was perfect. I’d recommend 👌🏾 The bagels 🥯 are GREAT. Great selection and texture. Exterior had great structure with a soft interior. I had the jalapeño bagel breakfast sandwich and it was great. Bacon, cheddar, egg and jalapeño 🤌🏾 We also got the blueberry scone and it was more like the texture of a muffin. Softest scone I’ve ever had. Crunchy sugar on top 🤤 I gave the atmosphere 3 ⭐️ because it was average. No bad by any means but it just didn’t stand out in any particular way. Service and food well above average.

My wife and I had been wanting to try Sweet Bar for some time. Located right next to Kissel Hotel this is a real neighborhood gem. This place is always buzzin. Get here earlier than later for the best selections. We ordered the BLAT, Ham and Cheese Croissant and an Asiago Bagel with cream cheese. Portion sizes are great. Prices are very reasonable. Everything we ordered tasted great. All very fresh as well. They serve hot and cold coffee drinks. My wife got an iced latte. Very tasty. If you’re needing a juice, water or soda they have a great drink cooler that is well stocked with options. Wait time for food was normal. They have plenty of staff that keeps the operation moving. This is a busy location and the staff was an absolute delight. You can tell everyone was invested in delivering a great experience. They also seemed to know a lot of the clientele. Would absolutely recommend Sweet Bar Bakery. Can’t wait to try more of their offerings. Keep up the amazing work team and see you soon!

Had excellent bagels and muffins here while on vacation. The polenta blueberry was a highlight!

The Cubano and Turkey club ciabatta were delicious! So flavourful that we enjoyed every bite. We also hit our coffee addiction with a cappuccino and flat white which were fragrant!

loved this place!! delicious bagel sandwiches and coffee at a great price. my friend and i got the egg/cheese and the slow roasted pork bagel sandwiches and the service was fast, food was hot and tasty with good portion size. the other baked goods (croissants, cookies) look fresh and tasty, ciabatta and croissant sandwiches also look great! im excited to try the chipotle chicken and tofu portabella sandwiches next. there seem to be plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans in addition to the classic sandwich/bagel options (ex: tofu cream cheese). the space is large and open with plenty of seating and a nice row of window seats too. clean and pleasant. seems like a great place to either meet up with a friend or read, study, work, etc :) there is an outlet or two but i haven’t tried them out, unsure if they have free wifi. more than anything there’s a cozy homey family vibe that i love, i’m looking forward to coming back frequently :)

Tremendous breakfast/lunch spot. Great breakfast sandwiches. Gluten free English muffin is also very good if you need GF. Mainly bagel sandwich options with a nice espresso bar

This is the best family-run bakery! I look forward to visiting every week to talk story and get a matcha latte and delicious chocolate walnut cookies and other baked goods. Their prices are affordable, their staff are friendly and remember SO many names of their customers, and their food and coffee and delicious. It’s also a large open space so it’s a great place to sit with a book or do some work and never feels cramped or crowded. Please consider supporting this local family business - they are an Oakland gem.

The best. A chill, down to earth neighborhood coffee shop with great baked goods and super friendly staff. Seems to be a good spot to work too, though there aren’t a ton of outlets. I haven’t eaten lunch here, but people seem to like their sandwiches - good sounding vegetarian options as well.

Cheap & delicious! Breakfast bagel $5.50. 16oz Drip coffee is $3.75 and only $2.95 for a 12oz. They have gluten free options! They offer lunch sandwiches for $10. Cozy small business vibes Their online prices are a out of date but they are still cheaper than the place next door.

I had a roasted chicken salad which came as a sandwich 🤷🏽‍♀️ but it was delish! We also had the bagel with eggs and bacon etc superb! Service great. Restaurant spacious but cozy, good for kids, couples, to study, staff is great!

Honestly, for the last 9 years this place has been my Go-To for when I’m not feeling well and need some nurturing. As a gluten-free person I come here for the GF Focaccia Tuna Melt (add tomato) and the GF Chocolate Cupcake with Peanut Butter Chocolate Dipped Frosting 🧁 😮‍💨. Today I added their Pozole and it was amazing! Also, they have the BEST gluten free breakfast sandwich 🥪 and it’s so affordable. Love love love them 💕

My goodness. I’m currently swooning over the best croissant I’ve ever had. Yesterday I had their lemon blueberry scone and it was ✨ perfect ✨. And the chocolate chip cookie is also mind-blowing. Plus, it’s a nice place to hang out.

I love coming here, especially after the gym. Very welcoming atmosphere, all the staff is super friendly. Love the cold brew, but every sandwich I’ve had is awesome as well. One of my favorite spots in Oakland.

I have only one gripe, most of the baristas make my cappuccino too hot! Oh, two gripes, it's very hard to hear or understand when they call out a complex order name from behind the counter, I suggest they use numbers or peoples names. Or install speakers. So the rest of everything is just awesome. House made dog treats, wide selection of delicious bakery items, unique iced drinks (with teas, lemonade, kombucha, flowers, coffee), bagel and ciabatta sandwiches with top quality ingredients and fresh, house made bagels and ciabatta bread. I am currently obsessed with the ciabatta bread, every bite is delightfully crunchy and flavorful. The workers are really engaged and friendly. They seem proud of their store. And the customers cover the whole range of Oakland Awesome. And its just a couple blocks from my apartment! I love this place :)

It is our weekend ritual! Their coffee is what you need to start your weekend on a perfect note! Their butter croissant is something to die for. As they say in Tamil, the croissant is as soft as a "halwa thundu" Great staff! Will keep coming here every weekend!!

Best cookies I’ve had in a LONG time. They had a ginger cookie that was SOOOO GOOD. Also the chocolate chip cookie and snickerdoodle were VERY GOOD. Moist, chewy, sweet, salty delicious all in one bite. I can only imagine that all of the baked goods there are good. Will definitely be back.

Went on a great date here! 🫣 Don't really remember how the coffee was, but the date was great 😉... Just kidding! The maple cardamom latte was a delight! I tried my date's cold brew when he was in the bathroom and it was good too

Service and atmosphere amazing. But shockingly bad coffee. Ordered a simple cappuccino and it would be generous to say it tastes like burnt sewer water…serving this coffee should be a violation of the Geneva Conventions

I was truly disappointed by my recent visit to Sweet Bar Bakery. While waiting at the register, I witnessed a dog brought in by another customer stand up with its front paws on the counter where transactions take place. Not only is this unsanitary, it’s a clear public health concern in any food service environment. What made the situation worse is that the same dog then followed its owner to the coffee pickup counter. Thankfully, my drink was ready before the dog had a chance to jump up again. But at no point did any staff member address or correct the customer. I called afterward to share my concern, not to be confrontational but because food safety matters. Unfortunately, the manager I spoke to was completely dismissive and lacked any sense of accountability. I understand that staff can’t always control what patrons do, but how they respond matters. A simple acknowledgment of the concern and a commitment to reinforce health protocols would have gone a long way. As someone who works in public health, this type of disregard for basic hygiene and customer feedback is exactly why I won’t be returning. Clean surfaces, safe environments, and respectful communication should not be optional in a food establishment. Sweet Bar missed the mark on all three.

I visited Sweet Bar Bakery recently and overall the place is well located and seems popular. However, I noticed employees handling ready-to-eat food with their bare hands. As a customer in California, that made me a bit uncomfortable, since food safety standards are usually taken seriously here. I hope management can clarify their hygiene practices and ensure proper handling procedures are followed. Cleanliness and food safety are very important to customers.

I am an out of towner and always walk the 7 blocks each way to get their bagels and people watch. Food, service and atmosphere are great. Steady stream of customers but worth any delay.

Ordered a toasted bagel and waited over 20 minutes before the cashier noticed. Turns out the cashier had only shouted out the order to the staff and did not place it regularly. I appreciate the cashier for giving a complimentary cookie, but this shouldn’t have happened in the first place. To top it off, the bagel I got was burnt…
