Taava Kitchen Oakland Reviews
Tried the box combo with rice, tikka masala, baingan bharta and naan. The naan was really good and tasted freshly made & soft. The tikka masala was one of the best I’ve had in a while. Baingan was good too but ofc not as good as the tikka masala. I asked for it to be spicy and it lived up to it! Overall 5/5 and probably now my go to Indian spot in the area.
Their new dine in space is small, but great for a quick lunch. Order ahead, and when you get there the food will be ready. Good, quick, filling meals for a reasonable price.
I was skeptical based on some reviews. But man, their food was delicious. Everything cooked to order, fresh ingredients. I could taste flavors from different ingredients and depth of them all. Highly recommended!
Really tasty chicken, tiki masala, as well as the saag dal and it also comes with rice and a naan
Ordered the spicy Chicken Chili and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes!
Update 12/3/25: This has become our go-to Indian in Oakland. Consistently amazing. The "curry chicken" is so good, as is sag paneer and just about everything else I've had. Don't miss the naan, made in-house in their oven. No seating, to-go only, really friendly. ========= Original 6/25: 2 item lunch special with veg vindaloo and butter chicken. So tasty! Got spicy, I will ask for medium spicy next time haha

best Indian Food ever! ’ve ordered takeout multiple times—and it’s consistently incredible. I’m obsessed. The quality is unmatched. The Chicken Tikka Kebabs are perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and their achar (Indian pickle) is hands-down the best I’ve ever had—vibrant, and deeply delicious. Every order has been fresh, and beautifully prepared. Highly recommend!
The flavors are fresh, clean, and complex. Hands down my favorite food for lunch around the office. Staff are so warm and kind too!
Great food, have loved everything I got from there. All the standard dishes have been delicious, and the idli fries SLAP! Tamarind chutney seems more flavorful and spiced than the standard stuff. Definitely going to keep coming here!
I ordered takeout twice now. Everything was delicious and freshly made. I’ve tried the chilli paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Vindaloo, and Butter chicken with rice and plain naan. Everything was so flavourful. The naan is soft and fluffy. This will be a regular for me.
One of my new favorite restaurants, and some of the best quality Indian food I’ve had. Everything was well-prepared, full of whole spices, and rich but not too heavy. Love that they use compostable packaging, too. The menu is extensive and ambitious. Entree portions are well-priced and not rice-heavy. Plenty of small (chaat) plates under $10 for those who like to try a bit of everything.
We had one meal from here and it was great. Some of the best Indian food I've had in the bay. Nice flavors and seemed fresh and not greasy. Chicken Tikka masala was especially good! Only negative was the dosa was a bit too charred and had a burnt taste; besides that it was tasty, but a little small for the price.
Really tasty and fresh food! And the spice levels are actually accurate which I so appreciate! Love everything we’ve tried so far (vindaloo, korma, tikka masala, dosa, chicken wings) with my current fave being the yellow daal. The space is small..you’re practically in the kitchen as soon as you step in so don’t plan to dine in with a big group. I’ll keep ordering takeout!
I've had their 2 item box lunch with chana masala and aloo gobi twice here, and both times, it's been really good. Medium spice is just the right amount of heat for me. Definitely going to try their chicken options next time. Bonus points for them serving ice water to customers who either eat in or wait for their to-go orders to cook.
Add this place to the list of top contenders for Bay Area Indian food. Such a humble, unassuming location with just a handful of tables and stools, and the young man running the front of kitchen was a chipper, friendly guy. Food was top notch and we saw some items on the menu that we had only previously seen in India. Ambiance was the classic, slightly gritty feel that I love to come across in Oakland. Just a hidden gem down a quiet street
AMAZING food! I got the dinner box with two entrees (chicken tikka masala, mattar curry w/ paneer) and upgraded to garlic naan. Also got the veggie samosas. I thought the dinner box was a great value for what you pay and it was seriously delicious.
Not a sit and eat spot, but that's the only not so pleasant thing about it. Excellent service and the food is always great! Super large choices in cuisine/delicacies, and care goes into every dish. I'm a regular and I'll always come back.
This is one of our go to spots for a quick bite - I always get the spicy Chana masala because the spice level is EXACTLY where I like mine to be while still being flavorful. Can’t go wrong with this place

This is such a gem of Indian food take out! Seriously some of the best butter chicken I've ever had (and I'm kind of a butter chicken snob). I also highly recommend trying their stuffed naan, stuffed with chicken tikka if you’re down for a good time!
Excellent food and very friendly customer service! My go to is typically their Chana Masala (spicy). Their box deals are very reasonably priced as they also include rice and naan. I’ve been coming to this restaurant even before they moved. I have never once been disappointed.

I’ve ordered pick up twice here. First time, got chole batura. It was very good. Second time I got the spicy masala dosa. It was also really good, except they forgot the chutneys, which was a bit of a bummer. The orders take a while, so if you’re on a lunch break just order ahead, and give a few minutes extra before grabbing. And double check the order. They’re really nice, too.
Great food and lot of vegan and vegetarian options ! Nothing bad to say. My only gripe is… when you spend $35 for great food, and you’re dinning in, would be nice not to eat in disposable silverware … they charge us $1 to use compostable silverware and dishes … what about using reusable regular dishes and silverware ? Come on… they have to clean dishes for the cooking equipment Definitely kill the vibe / atmosphere and doesn’t look as appetizing Most people order to go anyway so I doubt it would be lot of extra work …

Ordered a burrito on DoorDash and it was a virtual restaurant form this place. Was supposed to be a carne asada super burrito. Was the size of a Taco Bell burrito missing the guacamole, the beans, and the fries. The meat was so tough it was absolutely inedible. Not even carne asada. Absolutely vile and would never trust anything from this place.
