UC Dessert Oakland Reviews
Late night spot with fresh and delicious Asian deserts. Prices are reasonable for the portions and fresh ingredients. Have been here many times and even friends comment on how good it is. The surrounding area is a little sketch, particularly at night, so be careful when entering. Love this place!
This is the cutest f*ing bingsoo i've ever had. Also it was a good small portion (for 2 to share). The texture of the ice was fluffy and soft, and that little teapot had some condensed milk sauce, which you could meter out at your own pace as you needed. The toppings were fun, and the overall taste, texture, and flavor were all nice. A solid 5. recommended.
What's not to love about this place? Desserts are the best! They have their busy hours, but what popular place doesn't? Worth the wait indeed. Sometimes they may run out of certain menu items or ingredients, but that only speaks to it's popularity. Don't get upset, just try something else. Never had a bad dessert.
There's so many interesting dessert in this place. I tried black tea bingsu and mango milk custard. I really liked black tea bingsu. It has strong black tea flavor, highly recommended for tea lovers. Served with condensed milk, Boba and jelly. Maybe not sweet enough if you have a sweet tooth. Also, mango milk custard is fresh and soft. Employees are very kind. Definitely want to visit again!
Everything here is very unique. They are kind of Japanese type of items. I loved the grape jelly with coconut ice cream very much. It was not too sweet and right amount of sweetness. Ambience is decent. Service was pretty fast.
UC Dessert emits sweetness—from the delicate wisps of sugary goodness in the air to the beautiful delicacies and the very kind staff. The menu is deliciousness embodied, from the Mango Matcha Latte with its fresh fruit goodness to the Matcha Mocha, pure yummy-ness in a cup. Also, fun to see community members of different ages excited to all be here.
This store serve incredibly good dessert, all kinds of varieties, hot, cold, fluffy ice cream, drinks, sweet soup, waffle..... And they are all hand made right on the spot. The red bean soup with tofu pudding is what I ordered today, and this item brings back my childhood memory, like I was sitting in the kitchen and enjoy the just finished dessert from my mother.
Loved it! We ordered one and it was so delicious that we ordered a second one right after! It is the perfect sweetness and a good size for the price. I will have to come back to try more flavors!
My sister and I were exploring and trying new things. Vibes in this space are chill and positive and the avocado smoothie was really a yummy but not too sweet. The other dessert the server helped us pick out which I always appreciate :) we ended up getting a yummy dresser that had mango, black sticky riced and chia seeds and coconut that also was refreshing with a light sweetness. The black sticky rice is *chefs kiss* and makes the dish. Definitely check out.
First time here and ordered the Oreo Chocolate bingsoo & the Strawberry & Mango Egg Puff with mango ice cream....both were sooooo so good!! Portion sizes are plentiful and good to share. They have a very large menu of all kinds of Asian desserts ranging from hot to cold, as well as light appetizer-like snacks. Service was quick & attentive. They are open until 10p. We got there at ~8p on a Friday night and got a table, but shortly after, the cafe was full with a line out the door. Location is in Oakland Chinatown (a little sketch). Thankfully, we were able to park across the street! We will be back
Is their price real!!??? Super fair price for big portions of their food. Coconut tofu pudding with fresh fruit tasted delicious, milk tea was very heavy on the tea, not too sweet, however the taro eggpuff was not as good, taro was really dry inside the eggpuff. But I would recommend this location for dessert but just not ordering the taro egg puff wait for them to improve
Best dessert place in Oakland downtown. We ordered real coconut pudding, Choclate lava cake and mango tapioca sago..all 3 were really great. The best is coconut pudding - it's subtle sweet and very very fresh and soft. The place has good vibes and great Asian desserts. Highly recommend this place if you are here.
Super cute dessert place! Great service, they seemed short on staff and our server was working so hard but still did a great job! Both desserts we got were really good, but I was a huge fan of the mango pomelo sago with tofu pudding.
From the moment you walk into UC Desserts, you feel that nice feeling of welcome. Personally, I visited this place a few days ago and the lady who served us was very kind to us. All the staff really do their job with great care and the smallest plate you order, absolutely everything will be amazing. I highly recommend going to UC Desserts with loved ones with whom we want to share an exquisite dessert and a wonderful time. Keep up the great work!!
EXCELLENT TOPPINGS everything we ordered I loved. It’s kind of a hot spot for young adults at night, there’s usually a wait. We ordered 1. red bean paste and black sticky rice 2. Mango tofu pudding custard 3. GRASS JELLY, & toppings IS BETTER THAN MEET FRESH
I've never gotten disappointed for all the deserts that I ordered at this place. Today I ordered durian coconut pudding, then I received a whole coconut. I thought it was just a coconut but surprisingly, it had pudding inside of a coconut shell and it tasted crazy good!! I definitely love love love this small desert place in Oakland. Best thing ever in Oakland Chinatown.
By far my absolute favorite place to go. We stayed in Chinatown for a week and went at LEAST once a day every day. Theres jothing on the menu that isnt worth trying. The eggpuffs, smoothies (especially the mango and the strawberry), and sticky rice with fruit and coconut sauce are all amazing!
UC Dessert reliably delivers exceptional quality and surprises us every time. The milk custard is available in multiple combinations to precisely meet the varied tastes and preferences of its clientele.
This place has a vast array of absolutely delicious and amazing desserts! It was difficult to choose just one thing! The server was so nice! The pricing was very reasonable. I am just sad we didn't discover this little place until our last night!
Located in the heart of Oakland's Chinatown, UC Dessert offers an extensive menu of classic Hong Kong style desserts and snacks. On a Sunday afternoon, my friends and I were looking for a snack/dessert before dinnertime and happened upon UC Dessert. There isn't a ton of seating inside the store, so I would keep that in mind just in case you end up coming during their busier hours. I ordered my favorite go-to dessert the mango pomelo sago, while my friend ordered taro balls no. 4 (which comes with tofu pudding, red bean, lotus seed, and taro balls). Their desserts were well made and were exactly what I was looking for in terms of flavor. If you're looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth, then I recommend giving UC Dessert a try!

I got the Mango & Strawberry Egg-Puff with Ice Cream and I loved it! 😍 Look at it!!

Perfect dessert when in the mood for something light and not overly sweet. The fresh cantelope sago tasted just as it says, of puréed cantelope and tapioca. The egg puff waffle (with chopped mango and green tea) was airy, crispy and had just the right amount of sugar. Mango and pomelo sago (with mango ice cream), a treat.
Cheery spot and good selection of Asian desserts. The sesame paste and almond paste was satisfying, although the rice balls that came with it was not soft enough and had a weird taste to the exterior that I really can't put into words. Grass jelly with toppings came with coconut milk and was overall sweeter compared to Meet Fresh. Probably better value here but you should try both and decide.
They give you what you ask for consistently so you can’t fault them anywhere but when matched against some of their competitors they fall short in portion size and it looked like prices had gone up a bit since last visit. Ordered a mango chia w/ ice cream, coconut/mango pudding, mango sago.
We picked this place randomly just enjoying our time in Oakland Chinatown. As I’m not very experienced in Chinese desserts so was a bit careful to order one of that endless variety:) My choice was Matcha Lady M cake and Oreo milkshake. Can say that the cake was close to the original but a liiitle bit more sweetness would make it better. My husband ordered almond paste with tofu pudding. That was huge experiment for him but seems that he liked it. What I really liked about this place it’s the atmosphere. Chinese synt pop music on background, really nice and helpful stuff all that makes me want to come back and try some of their true Chinese desserts with sticky rice or taro balls(:
Really pretty and good presentation! It wasn’t all looks either because you could still eat it without it being messy after minutes! Just a great dessert in general and the employees were super nice. The drink was really pretty and tasted good, I just didn’t know that the tea was fizzy like soda and I don’t drink soda. Other than the tea tasting like soda it was a decent drink and it was made quickly.

Aesthetics and presentation were passable, but the overall taste was meh🥲. This is subjective, but personally, the bingsu was not sweet enough. My 🥭🍧 mango bingsu tasted like 90% shaved ice🧊 combined with a few mango pieces and frosted flakes 🥣-- it was a bit underwhelming 😑. Condensed milk is 50 cents extra (initially comes with cream) but makes a difference. Vibe-wise, the place has a decent atmosphere for chilling with a group! 😊 Can't speak for the other desserts, but I would not recommend this place for the bingsu.🙅♀️
The experience here was very underwhelmed. A very small bowl of walnut past with some small taro balls cost us a little more than 7 dollar. The place was alright, need a little more clean up. We ordered this togo, the to go cup was alright. The taro balls was quite tasty but too little to enjoy. The walnut past was quite thick, and did not have the flavor that we enjoyed.

By far the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Arrived and there was one table left, the guy working the front said there were no more places. We said what about that table, he said, sure but it's uncomfortable. Then a group came and sat there from behind us and he said it's full and we could order to go. We placed our order and after waiting 10 minutes, he came and said our order would be 10 more minutes minimum and we could come back later. It was pouring rain, but at that minute a table opened up. We asked if we could take the table and eat our food there instead. He said no, it was too late to change our order to a to stay order. He said the staff had already started making it... even though 1 minute before that he had told us it would be a long wait because lots of people were ahead of us. We asked to cancel our order and leave. When canceling our order he said to keep our receipt because he didn't want us coming back later claiming we never got a refund. He was so incredibly rude and unhelpful through the entire visit.
I came, sat down, ordered, waited for OVER 1 hour just for 1 SINGLE ORDER. service was horrible. I waited that long just for the host to pack my food to go in the end when he gave it to me, saying that we can’t eat there anymore because the place is closing. ALSO when i sat there for over an hour, no one ever cleaned our table it was still dirty with other people’s food. THE FOOD THEY GAVE US was in BAD QUALITY IT WAS ALL MELTED and disgusting. I came back to complain and the host said “you have to understand that our food quality will deteriorate as we get busier” which is so stupid and not okay. the owner needs to get 1. MORE STAFF and 2. train your staff properly and have some guidelines. food was HORRIBLE. Service was HORRIBLE. tone of the host was disrespectful.

Waited for 20+ minutes for them simply get a pre-made coconut pudding from the fridge only to know they forgot the order. Not recommended if your time is valuable
