Mr. Liu Noodle House Oakland Reviews
Slow evening evening in at Mr. Liu Noodle house had a warm and calming dinner. I had the House Special original beef noodle soup. The portion is a healthy size so it’s quite filling by itself with good depth of flavor. I was told it was slightly spicy, but couldn’t really taste any, I don’t actively seek very spicy stuff but do enjoy spice to a dish. I added two small spoons of chili oil to add some of that spice to the dish so if you are concerned about spicy, unless you are incredibly sensitive it is very low spice. I ordered a side of the pork ribs as well, they were tender and fall off the bone with good flavor, but personally would’ve liked if they were slightly crispier exterior with like a broil or something to finish. Overall very happy, the meal was warm, filling and comforting in a slightly chilled evening
The best noodle soup I've ever had. For cold days it is just perfect. The portion size is excellent, I could barely finish it. The soup is very tasty, the meat is so tender it melts in your mouth, and the noodles and vegetables are cooked just right. The restaurant is clean, cozy, quiet and very clean, and the service is always kind and polite.
One of the best Sichuan cuisines in the Bay Area. Loved their spicy 🌶️ noodle dishes and meaty dishes. The hostess was friendly and welcoming. I have visited here several times. My bd buddy also loved the dishes. We especially loved the sliced shank and tripe!
From the street, this appears as any of the Chinese restaurants in the area. Once inside, the excellent food and service served in a contemporary setting will surprise and delight any guest. Certainly the noodle dishes are its focus. However, every dish was filled with delicious flavor.
Yummy! I love noodles so much and probably could eat two bowls here. I loved the texture of the noodles and the clean tasting broth. Didn't take a photo but we also ordered dumplings. If you are looking for a meaty dish, dumplings were packed with meat. The atmosphere is nice to eat in.
An awesome Chinese noodle and wonton shop — highly, recommend it to anyone in the area. Moreover, the place is very welcoming to kids and families. The place outside is unassuming but we were greeted at the door and immediately welcomed in. When we sat down, they gave our toddler a plate and served us tea. On food, we ordered a range of options: from special original beef noodle, the special zhejiang noodles, the non-spicy Beef noodles with clear soup and wonton with spicy chili oil. Food was plentiful (as commanded by the price point) and very well spiced. 100% would recommend.
You cannot beat authentic Chongqing spicy and tasty flavor in this noodle house🤟🔥🌶️! The best one in Chinatown! High recommend adding this one to your restaurant list!
The food was great! Definitely one of the spicer zhajiang mien I’ve had but still absolutely delicious ! They seasoned the sauce beautifully, the ground pork was flavorful, and the cherry on top was that the noodles had a nice QQ texture to it. The portions were somewhat large too. Me and my friend should’ve split a bowl instead of ordering individual bowls. The waitstaff were really friendly and accommodating. They answered all our questions without judgement and made sure we had a glass full of water at all times. Overall, I’m exited to comeback here again!
First time here. Ordered the Original Beef and Pickled Veggie Pork; Both noodle soups were really good. The texture of the noodles was spot on and the broth was delicious. Wait staff was nice and attentive. Definitely would come back to try the other dishes. This place is going into our rotation of noodle houses.
Tried on a whim as it was down the street from our hotel and wow, I am so glad we did. The special beef noodle soup was delicious. The beef was so tender and the broth has just enough of a kick that it is tasty without being overpowering. The cucumber in garlic was also delicious and my friend had the green beans and said they were fantastic. I would eat here again anytime. Great service too.
Enjoyed the food. Pictures of finished bowls. Very good and tasty.
Great service and noodles were tasty def a unique flavor I am not used to but I enjoyed. The tables and ambiance was also nice.
Tried the Pickled Pepper Beef Noodle Soup—so so good 😋! Perfect mix of tangy, spicy, and savory flavors. The restaurant is new, super clean, with great service. The owner even mentioned that all their noodles and dumplings are handmade. Definitely coming back to try the Chengdu Special Dumplings next!
Ordered the wonton beef special. It was amazing. I later learned that the wontons are hand-made. The service was great.
I had the #4 special original beef noodle soup. The soup was very flavorful and had a nice kick of spiciness. The noodles had a pleasant chewiness that I enjoyed. The meal comes with complimentary pickled radish slices. Service was attentive and friendly. I'll definitely be back
Solid spicy beef noodles for a good price!! Update: ran in at night and tried the spicy wontons. Amazing!! So far this place hits every time. A good new addition to Chinatown.
Great beef noodles! The beef was soooo tender! Also the chicken broth wonton was very yummy. Staff was very sweet as well.

I’m here from Texas and wanted to browse the local area and businesses. I decided to stop here for my first meal and the dumplings were amazing, had a little kick from the chili oil but that’s okay. The server was very friendly!
Ordered the wonton beef special. It was amazing. I later learned that the wontons are hand-made. The service was great.
I had their House special Beef stew wonton soup with their homemade noodles. It was tasty and yummy Their wonton was very good. The beef stew was the best part. So flavorful and delicious. I would go their again.
Quick, tasty! Enjoyed the wood ear salad, spicy noodles, dry fried green beans, and shredded tofu (eating vegetarian here is doable). Bathroom is clean and nice. Sympathetically overheard a father practicing gentle parenting of lovely, if rambunctious, children in the booth next door (restaurant seems kid friendly).
Phenomenal little family-run noodle shop. Husband runs the kitchen making all ingredients from scratch, wife runs front of house with incredible hospitality. Definitely worth a stop for a bowl of delicious homemade noodles.

I ordered the original beef noodle soup and the broth was so good! As someone with a high spice tolerance I like when "spice" and "numbness" levels are separate, and I asked for extra for both. I probably could've gone spicier, but the numbness was perfect. I'm taking 2* off only because I ordered as takeout, and when I got home I realized I didn't get any beef :( I feel like an important part of my order was missing. If I go back again, I'll double check the bag next time.

Sorry to say, but this was not an enjoyable meal. I ordered the pork wonton in chicken broth to go. It was made to fast because the wontons seemed like they just made them , because they were not fully cooked. The pork filling was dry and it should not have been. Being that it was cooked in liquid. First and last time spending money here. Treat me right the first time. That's what I get for not wanting to travel where I normally go. Plus they charged too much for just wonton soup. Way to expensive for food that was disappointing. Never again. Good luck.
