Best Taste Restaurant Oakland Reviews
Food is super tasty. Service is ok and it's not the cleanest or prettiest place. You won't even notice when you're eating though. The roast duck is amazing and the clay pots are so tasty. The portions are not huge so you can finish your meal and enjoy some tea
Always have to get my claypot rice when I'm in the area. We came Saturday for lunch, and it was packed! I really LOVE their eggplant claypot. Everything we ordered was yummy!
Favorite clay Pot spot In Oakland!
ordered the fresh water eel claypot rice and pork spareribs claypot rice to go~ we got here just as they brought it out (about 25mins from the call), and it's piping hot.
This is a place where we find a lot of locals eating here. We ordered three pieces combo and beef fried noodles— the portion is great and food is so tasty.

I love this place. I like to get the half duck or roast pork rice plate. Always a Hong Kong milk tea. They are always kind too. It’s my little slice of community.
New owners of best taste Cantonese restaurant in Oakland. Prices and quality of food is the best around. Need to perfect there soup base for the noodles soup and make it a little saltier but overall best deal around.

Quite authentic Hong Kong-style BBQ, not the best in its class but they won the price war. Their breakfast deal is unbeatable in the entire bay area at <$8 with a drink of your choice. Taste is ok, as well as their service... there is more room for improvement than room for comfort seating, but overall a solid 3.5 out of 5 and got my recommendation if you're on a tight budget.
Good place to stop by if you are in the area. They have breakfast deal which mostly the one on breakfast menu is less than 10 dlr and it comes with free milk tea and the porridge come with free chinese donut. When we arrived , the restaurantbis pretty full but we get seated right away. They have breakfast menu from8 to 11 am. They also have bbq stuff which looks yummy like chicken, pork and duck. They also have lamb dishes. We ordered porridge, braised beef noodle soup, bbq pork rice roll and chinese donut rice roll. The noodle and porridge are about $8 which hard to find the price anywhere else. The portion is also generous. The noddle is also yummy. The rice roll is unique as it is thicker than regular rice roll at other places. There is min of $25 if you want to pay with card. Overall is is good meal
I was introduced to flavors of my in laws country and tried things I usually do not try. My wife is a foodie and I know she gets it from her being raised in a food industry family. Great to see so many people come from other countries like my parents to live the American Dream! The Clay Pot Rice was different for me
Stopped by the first time for some take out bbq chashu for dinner. It was a Sunday afternoon but the selection was limited. Service was very nice and prices are reasonable. Food was tasty. I’d come back.
Good local’s Chinese restaurant! It is nothing fancy but will fill-you when in Chinatown. they also have a good selection of roasted meats for takeout. Service has been good.
Not a fancy place but with authentic cantonese foods. Reasonably priced items and the waitresses are always ready to assist. Shown is the roast pork (cha siu), bbq pork, and soy sauce chicken over rice. This place is also a deli where you can buy pre cooked items for take out. Come on in and be prepared to enjoy a delicious meal.
Authentic southern Chinese food. The price is cheap. Very tasty.

(updated) Just came back to have their rice clay pots. Asked for it to be extra crispy. This time I was really disappointed. Not only was it not crispy, the amount of rice was way less. It wasn't busy either. Not sure if it was an off day. Hopefully, their quality improves on my next visit. (2yrs ago)This place is a local hole in the wall. It's a very casual, no nonsense place to get fried chicken wings, roasted pork, duck or steamed chicken. Or u can get their famous clay pots. I love the crunchy rice on the bottom so I call them in advance to give them time to cook it. It's so yummy that the rice on top is so soft, but the rice on bottom is crunchy... Next time u r in Chinatown, try their "bo jai fan" or rice clay pots...

The roasted pork was so tasty and tender. Usually I never like this kind meat. But this time I enjoyed very much. So was Clayton good! The gentleman who cuts the meat at the entrance is very quick and friendly. Only one of waitresses is very rude
Ordered congee & a shrimp rice noodle roll off the breakfast menu from this no non-sense Cantonese restaurant. Hit the spot on a cold morning & very steady traffic ordering different bbq items.

I ordered BBQ Pork chow fun and Chicken/Mushroom clay pot to go. The clay pot was bland, with very little sauce; chicken parts were full of bones, gristle, rubbery skin, and joints. The bits of meat I was able to gnaw did prove quite flavorful and good, I just wish there had been a better meat-to-other ratio The chow fun came completely covered in some kind of gravy, which was an unpleasant surprise. The gravy was pretty bland, and ruined the dish for me turning it all into a soupy gummy mess. I was expecting a dry-fried situation with wok-hei fired noodles. I ended up tossing most of it and am very sad. Note: I'm seeing the kind of chow fun I was expecting in pictures of the beef chow fun, not sure why a different meat would make a difference in prep.

It used to make wonderful clay pot rice and clay pot porridge. Ever since the pandemic, sad to find out big drop in quality. We odered our old favorite of frog leg rice and it came out fishy and stale. Service has never been good even for a long term frequent customer, and, even with the same crew as before, service got worse since the pandemic. Very sad. Really wished they improve again, even amid the terrible conditions of Oakland Chinatown these days.
Do NOT buy here! Food is dirty, same person manages cooked food and cashier. Partial of your bbq order is stolen to serve the rice plates and you get replaced with bones and extra head and tail junk instead.
The meat in their rice noodle rolls is sour and not fresh. I won't give any comments. The service attitude is also very bad. I will not come again. The health department should check this store as soon as possible. It should not exist.
