Yummy Halal Grill Oakland Reviews
I ordered the falafel salad and an appetizer similar to dumplings. The appetizer was excellent and reminded me of Cincinnati chilli but as a dumpling. The Falafel salad was was ok. It's likely better as a wrap. I'd eat here again.
I had the laubili pallow plate which includes rice and lamb shank. The food was excellent and exactly the same taste I have experienced in Afghanistan. I can’t comment on any other dishes available at this restaurant but I highly recommend the lamb and rice dish; try it you will love it.
Nice little place. Owner is super friendly. Service is good. Seating area is cozy however location is not the best. Overall, we had a great experience. Chatni and that potato bread was delicious.
Lamb that is juicy, flavorful, and tender! This gyro plate took me back to some of the best places in NYC. Oh and the green sauce- made in house, fresh ingredients and spicy! I will definitely be back to try the falafel, fish plate, and curry! 😋 A year later they told me it was cow beef NOT lamb.****
Great customer services and Very delicious food I highly recommended people to try the Afghan food and see some Afghan cultures photo inside.
My go to cheesesteak spot.. Always good food. Meat is fresh and seasoned. The veggies aren't over cooked. Can be delivered through grub hub.

the food was entirely Afghani IMHO, and according to some younger Afghani guests. I had lamb kabob and Afghani rice, two felafel and ferni [Afghani custard]. Rice delicious. Unlike any rice anywhere. Kabob definitely helal, tender, more cooked than an American would cook it but a lot less than a Turk. And full of flavour some of which I'm at a loss to identify, something enhancing its 'meatiness'. I don't know Afghani herbs/spices. I ate too too much. The mango lassi is just creamily heavenly It's not the Ritz. Family run restaurant with a traditional Afghani sofra to eat at if you don't like a table and chairs
Tandoori chicken is fire. Love this place!
I keep coming back because of the outstanding customer service. The staff are incredibly professional while still making the place feel like home. The food is always delicious, and every visit is a great experience. Highly recommended!

It's pretty delicious must admit first time having falafels and they're DELICIOUS crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. I'll most deff go again. The chicken cabobs are pretty tasty too and the rice is a A+, not to mention great customer service.
food looked and tasted good, the lamb was a little tough for me and I wasn't offered water or a knife but other than that a good place to get clean food.

Food is pretty good. I've only had gyros, lamb kabobs, and samosas. I kind of don't like that if you fries with a gyro it has to come with a soda. Why not just charge me less if I don't want a soda? I don't drink sodas because it's really terrible for your health.
Am a regular-repeat customer @ 1-2 x p/week: I've deleted my negative review **& returned because the owner acknowledged that review and I believe he addressed the issue with argumentative staff. I ask for the gyro combo/dbl meat/plain and I'm addicted! But all the food is delicious. They remodeled and now have a beautiful dine-in area "a la homeland" & it's gorgeous.

I visited this Afghan restaurant and noticed that there were no Afghan workers inside. I ordered the chicken kabab and Bulani, but unfortunately, they didn't taste good. However, I appreciate that the staff was very nice and friendly during my visit.
I came here 2 years ago and I always got the 🥙 gyros or the gyro plate..so my experience today was bad very bad..this is a Afghan restaurant and I thought it would be Afghans cooking but it wasn't..the food was burnt and it wasn't made like a gyro at all!!! The meat was ok and the Mexican lady was very nice and polite...she just needs to understand how to make it correctly so they don't lose their customers please get it together...
The shrimp kabobs smelled like bleaching liquid. The Chopon kabob was all black burned. So bad. The lady was nice and polite though.

I ordered the falafel wrap…what I got was huge hep of falafel with chunks of whole chickpeas inside I was totally grossed out. the falafel was fried so hard ….I guess I’m just spoiled living in Detroit with the Arabs who are the masters of the Falafel.. idk I really wanted to like this place …. I couldn’t even fish the wrap that’s how bad it was. Sadly to say I told the owner I refuse to pay for this . Do yourself a favor and go 8 blocks the other way to the YEMNI restaurant… I am not disrespecting anybody . I have had such delicious Afghan food all over the east coast especially in DC… IDK what is happening in here . The menu was dry and dead to….. it took us like 30 min to order ..highly disappointing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bread had mold on it and the 2 Spanish girls working there had a nasty attitude and when we showed them they told us if we didn’t like it to leave the place . I will be contacting the health department

The servers here were not attentive. They seemed distracted and took a long time to bring our food. They did not check on us during the meal, and their attitude did not feel welcoming. I hope the management provides better training and improves the service
I ordered an Afghan wrap and a chicken wrap. The Afghan wrap wasn’t bad, but the onion rings in the chicken wrap were old and tasted rotten. I also ordered two Firni cups — they didn’t even look like Afghan Firni and tasted really bad.
