Taco Libre Pasadena Reviews
I stopped by for a quick bite — ordered two tacos, birria and asada. They were so good with the pickled onions, I was sad that I didn’t order more. Coming back for sure!
Y’all don’t like it if it don’t bling bling Put a cherry on the taco cause the money ain’t a thing Y’all wanna floss with us Puttin the detergent in a paper cup Time to wash it with ice cream 🎶
Tried their chile relleno burrito and I gotta say it was probably the best one I've ever had. Super fresh, extremely flavourful, I honestly would have said let me skip the protein and add another chile. I hope they keep it in the menu, it's definitely worth a try.
A great selection of tacos. We went on a Tuesday and took advantage of the specials. We tried to get a nice big cross section of everything and took full advantage of the extras available. My only complaint was that the hottest salsa was not actually that hot. We left full and satisfied and would definitely return again if we were in the area.
I've tried many green wet burritos from all across LA County, I'll have to say that this place was my favorite. Meat authentically made nice and seared. My second favorite was the micheladas, made just as they should with very few condiments. I highly recommend you stop by. Parking nearby.
Wife and I were in the neighborhood, saw this place and decided to get some stuff to try and immediately regretted not getting more food! We got an asada torta, two asada tacos and a chicken taco and everything was excellent. The meat was juicy and grilled to perfection. The red salsa was spicy and very flavorful. The Avocado salsa was not spicy but very refreshing and flavorful as well. Saw a few other dishes while waiting for my food and that made me want to try even more food. The enchiladas looked incredible. Can't wait to go back
Great tasting tacos so far in Pasadena that I have come across in awhile,Al pastor is what I got and was happy with it
This place is VERY good! I had the Shrimp, Fish Baja, and the Fish LA Mexicana... All three were AMAZING! Highly recommend the food and the service was decent considering the tacos were fresh. The tacos are small so 4 would do the trick if you're hungry. Enjoy!
Great tacos... Birria taco is amazing. Highly recommend, will go back.
Lots of meat on the tacos. You get your money's worth here. The food was good and everyone loved what they got. It's small inside so get there early. Service was nice.
Visited thinking it would be a regular taco shop with regular service but I took the name Libre for granted. The moment I took a bite of the taco I was free’d into an ocean with a beach and a friend that I made and they even gave me a spot where I could put my belongings so that I wouldn’t get them wet. What an experience
Im extremely picky about tacos because I like them crunchy and I don't like them to be store bought packaged. This place is one of the only places that does this as I'm so sick of going to Mexican places asking whether they have hard tacos and being told "no". Also the flavor of te beef is very decent so I think the ingredients are actually good and the price is good too. Atmosphere is actually kinda cute too.
I wanted something quick and delicious after my trip to Burke Williams in Pasadena and this was the perfect spot. I had one beef and one chicken crispy taco and they were amazing. The mild green salsa was absolutely perfect!
The Enchiladas Tapatias, shrimp taco, and pink lemonade I had hit the spot after a long day of walking. The rice, beans, and chips were pretty good too. Plus the server guy was nice.
Great little taco spot! Super quick and easy to grab a few tacos, with larger plate options if you so desire. We stopped by here for their Taco Tuesday special and even though I only had 3 tacos, I felt so full afterwards! I had two soft shell tacos - chicken and asade, and one crispy shell - potato (which I definitely recommend). You can order with some extra toppings, and they also have a mini salsa bar with onions and cilantro to add at your leisure. They have indoor and outdoor seating. A fun lively vibe, with colorful walls and decoration. This place is hidden within an alley between Colorado and Green Street in Pasadena. Food came out quickly; hot and fresh. We ordered from a screen but there was also a person to take orders as well. I would love to go back and try their nachos. Great experience!
While it’s hidden from the main street, this is a (very safe feeling) alley that you’ll definitely want to travel down to get tacos. Taco Libre is in between a dog bakery and the amazing coffee shop Savvvys. I recommend getting at least two tacos. When I ordered, I didn’t realize that the listed price was only for a single taco. The chicken, pork, and beef tacos are cheaper then the shrimp, so definitely order according to your taco budget. The sautéed shrimp taco on a corn tortilla comes with pico de gallo, and the pastor marinated pork taco comes with deliciously sweet pineapple. I added guacamole to both tacos, and it was delicious, especially with their green mild salsa.
Taco Libre for the win. Have tried several spots for burritos in the Old Town area. You get what you pay for. * Tortas Mexico is $11 and OK but not fantastic. (Tortas are great, so go there for that.) * King Taco is $7, but they're small and leave you feeling unsatisfied, like you need another burrito. * Taco Libre will run you $13. But that is fair for what you get. What I like about Taco Libre burritos: * Choice of black or pinto beans (most places only give you pinto) * Big, satisfying, didn't feel hungry after * Bursting with flavor and salsas are yummy Sour cream & salsas complementary.
Love to stop in here when I’m in Pasadena. The tacos al pastor and birria are delicious. The decor and atmosphere are pretty cool, too.
It is a very delicate and small burrito shop. The taste is very good. The space in the shop is not very hygienic, but the light and layout are still very attractive. I like the burrito here.
The Carne Asada Torta I had tonight was delectable. As well as the green salsa that it came with. It didn't taste like ordinary salsa verde. Perhaps it is a guacamole salsa. It definitely compliments the sandwich well. Taco Libre also assured not to put onions in my Torta, per my request. Which I greatly appreciate. I didn't go to the location, so I cannot comment on the service or atmosphere. Ty kindly Taco Libre. :)
I order at the comfort of my home from Uber eats. The service was super quick! These were one of the best carne asada fries I've had in a while! I also ordered a taco al pastor and I was not disappointed. The meat was tender, everything was made with fresh ingredients. I'm definitely ordering from this spot again!

Great taco spot! Super packed due to the rose bowl game but the food spoke for itself. The self serve salsa was a great easy way to get the condiments you needed. California burrito was amazing and the side of pickled hot onions were 10/10. Love the cozy vibe. Small space but tables move fast!
In town for the night and was craving some good Mexican food....found it! Guy that took our order was helpful and we got what we ordered. Great food (Cali burrito and tacos) and the alley was is pretty cool.
Legit tacos! Had the carne asada tacos and it had so much flavor! Best I’ve had in a long time. Crunchy chicken taco was great too! Had a great crunch on the tortilla and the chicken was seasoned well. Definitely coming back to try all the other items on the menu.

I just came across this taco libre restaurant and had to give them a try. I ordered the crispy taco with potato and the libre fries with carnitas... I was impressed with all the flavor the fries had and the taco even without meat did not disappoint. If you're in Pasadena you should definitely give them a shot.
The tacos were good with all the toppings, though, the crispy taco shell was very greasy. Customer service was just above mediocre. It felt like I had to pry to get a smile or any friendly exchange out of the guy. Sat on patio enjoying live jazz from the restaurant across the alley. Lovely lighted alley. Prices were good.
We were looking for a restaurant to get breakfast and decided to try Taco Libre. It was great. 2 of us had chiliquiles and 2 had huevos rancheros..Both were very good. The chiliquiles had scrambled eggs on top and were made with homemade tortillas. The red and green sauces were both good. We ate every bite.
Overall their food is good. I’ve tried things from their menu that were nothing special, but I went recently and loved their nachos. they were super flavorful and filled with tons of toppings. I would come back to get the nachos. The inside is clean and the service is quick.
Fun little back alley taco shop. Tried a couple of their quesatacos. Pretty good. Not great. The carne asada was a little overdone and fatty. The birria was good.

Good food, but very slow service. Food was only coming out one burrito at a time. Only a few places to sit, but we got lucky as someone got up just as we walked in.

I ordered a Pastor quesadilla and the meat was greasy, and there are no limes, which are a must in Mexican food. I don't like Chipotle but I think in this case that could have been a better choice.
Their Birria is gross, but all their other Tacos are good, even though they forgot to put the Cilsntro n Onions on mine. This place use to be alot better but sadly....I predict that it will be gone by next year! Alot more Taco places better than this.
Although the food and location are good, the rest of the experience is subpar. The dining tables are dirty, the toilet does not flush, the sink is filthy, and the employees are impatient and confusing.
The yelp ratings are far more accurate (they’re a 3 average), extremely overpriced for how watered down the “salsa” is, the tacos are hella bland, $4 for basically a shell and meat... that’s it. The shrimp taco was borderline gross, no seasoning at all. The cactus is just eh. Not worth what we paid for it at all. Really disappointed.
Food is off the hook super amazing! Except, that the tacos are way over the price. I say get a burrito or a torta. Some dishes are over priced. Oct. 30, 2019 update. Food is still super overpriced. And I'm just comparing with surrounding restaurants to be fair. Nearly 10 dollars for 1 taco and side fries.

The food was better than average int terms of ingredients and preparation. Service was not great, slow and inattentive. Just a takeout place with a small dining room, so not much to speak of in terms of atmosphere. Inflated California prices of course.

Full self-service not great for the expensive price they have…tipped 18% by mistake. For the service and price they charge, I expect at least good plates, real glasses and non-plastic cutlery..Can’t complain about the taste tho, can definitely improve on portion/meat sizes
I can tell this place has its time and day and year for mexican food. $3.87 for 1 taco. It came with onion and cilantro which I added myself. Overall 2 outa 5
BLEH. The food is oily, salty and bland. The burritos are dripping with grease. The salsas are so tasteless you wonder if they're served purely as decoration. Spices are missing everywhere in fact, so is the service. Prices border on pricey for what you get. We had a bad experience at this place last year but figured we'd give it another shot -- maybe it had been an off day? But alas, the second time was worse. If you have the misfortune to find yourself here, save your appetite and your money.
Tacos were overpriced and honestly just mediocre compared to LA taco places. Salsas were not even spicy. 1986 is better
It’s a hit or miss! The food quality here is too unpredictable. Sometimes it’s great, but other times I end up throwing it away. After my last visit, I’ve decided not to come back. The asada meat was so bad that I’m done paying high prices for such inconsistency.

The tacos were some of the worst tacos I ever had. They chicken was very dry and hard, pastor and asada were dry and over cooked. Tacos only came with one tortillas, they don’t even give you a back up tortilla for the meat that falls out. 3/10
I’m born and raised in Pasadena, and my family has been here for many generations. Taco Libre has only been here since 2018. I’ve been supporting their restaurant since they opened. I work from home at Savvys and other cafes in the area, and I just got back home in town after working out of state on a gig. Recently, I needed to use the restroom. They don’t have one, and instead of understanding, they had the nerve to get an attitude with me for using the one next door, even though I am a frequent customer, mind you I have been supporting them since they opened and have spent hundreds with this spot. I am extremely disappointed because this shows there’s really no sense of community within my community. I have been here long before their establishment and generations of my family have lived here. My family, my friends, people from this city, my church. I’m deeply rooted and connected here in Pasadena. It’s my home, and when I try to support newer establishments in my community, they always seem to disappoint. We all own property here, some of it is not gone in Altadena as well. I hate when restaurants open in Pasadena and have no sense of community, like they’re just here for who they are here for and to sell to us and make money off of us. Complaining about me using the restroom as if I haven’t been here is gross and disrespectful, a nasty attitude doesn't get too far especially when it's directed towards me, I am not the one. I will no longer be supporting them. This attitude is crazy, We fought for civil rights for this type of behavior, and it’s unacceptable.
