Il Piccolo Bistro Piazza Cattedrale Reviews
Absolutely wonderful, atmospheric place to have a lunch or dinner, where you can feel the real spirit of a beautiful Italian town. We loved every moment here. The dishes were delicious, especially Entrecote, and pizza Cotto e corciofi. The service was very welcoming, hospitable and polite, and I can't wait to come back once I'm again in Ventimiglia.
Good little restaurant in the middle of Ventimiglia Alta, with various plates of the day as well as pizza and other primi/secondi dishes - we had two pizzas, both excellent, and some refreshing limoncello afterwards. Friendly staff too and nice atmosphere inside and outside the restaurant.
no complaints at all, service was fast, food was delicious (best pizza i had during our holiday in Nice) and location was lovely. shared a pizza between two but could definitely eat a whole one each - the ingredients were fresh and easy to eat. the pizza dough was the star of the show. worth the walk from the train station.
Il Piccolo Bistro was a fantastic small restaurant on the place in front of the church of Ventimiglia. We got a delicious dinner with dishes of the local cuisine. Also we enjoyed a fantastic white wine from Langhe . Thanks for the beautiful evening and your hospitality in your restaurant and in your town.
Everything we had at this restaurant seemed homemade and the atmosphere as well as the food was just incredibly good
Really incredible place. Great family vibe and really interesting and local foods. I really recommend!
Had a lovely meal here with some friends. Fairly quiet on a Saturday lunchtime in October. Food was tasty with some unusual dishes. I had a stuffed courgette meal with gazpacho which was very good. Not sure what the stuffing was but I enjoyed it! Staff were very friendly. Not much seating inside but lots of tables with umbrellas outside.
The neat little bistro has had myself and partner coming 3 nights now for dinner. We weren't disappointed each time, good price with great food. Service was great even though we had a slight language barrier (me speaking English) but wasn't really an issue. It highlights local cuisine which we tried to complete. I must admit one dish was 9/10 but it wasn't bad. Highly recommended if your in the area. (P.S it is near an elevator located in the tunnel.)
Great food. Best to book if you’re going on a Sunday; we were sent away and had to come back the following day to a calmer and friendlier service. Pizza was delicious, we had the one with goat cheese pears and walnuts which came with some honey to add (delicious!). Also noteworthy was the fresh pasta. The star of the menu was the local starter though full of typical small parcels of vegetables in pastry. We had a delicious bottle of Ligurian wine (Pigato).
This restaurant is right next to my place, and the location is truly lovely—quiet, unique, and inviting. The service was excellent: warm, gracious, and attentive throughout the evening. As a retired chef, I tend to notice the details. I had the pinse-style pizza and breaded anchovies. While the presentation was fine, it was clear the anchovies came straight from the freezer to the fryer or oven. The dough had that classic Roman-style crispness, but lacked the depth of flavor you'd expect from a well-fermented base. Other guests were enjoying pasta dishes that looked well-prepared and appetizing. Prices were on the higher side, especially with the cover charge added. If you're looking for more distinctive local flavors, I’d recommend Orlogio, just up the street—it offers a more interesting take on regional cuisine. This isn’t a negative review—just an honest observation. The place has charm and potential, and with a bit more attention to ingredient quality, it could really stand out.
Beautifully located in the heart of Old Town Ventimiglia, this spot is perfect for a summer lunch. The service was great. The pasta was excellent - perfectly al dente with a flavorful sauce. The bread provided with the pasta was dense and dry. The bruschetta, however, could use some improvement; it was almost like a pizza with raw tomatoes. I think it would be amazing with less or no cheese, bread toasted in olive oil with garlic, and the tomatoes tossed in balsamic vinegar with fresh basil and light seasoning. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.
