Main Event Plainview Reviews
The Main Event in Plainview is a great place to catch a game with friends, featuring plenty of TVs and a lively sports bar vibe. The wings and burgers are fantastic, making it a top spot for casual dining.
Great place to hang out watch any sport on many TV's. Great menu for food and drinks.
Great food and service. There are over 20 TV'S for your viewing pleasure. I definitely will be back.
Awesome place food delicious the staff fantastic
The Main a event is one of our goto spots. Their pub food is delicious and it's always a great place to watch a game. They are very family friendly and the service is always great. I highly recommend the chicken soup and their raw bar is always delicious!
the grilled wings here are amazing, well worth the drive i have to make. lobster bisque is great as well, as well as their seasonal clam chowder. may be on the pricier side but you do get a lot of food. great service.
The server was very polite and very knowledgeable and didn't rush us. It was an enjoyable experience thanks to my server.
Sports bar and restaurant. The servers are all good and responsive to your needs. Good burgers and seafood. When my wife and I were uncomfortable with the AC blower on us, Cara our server changed our seating and made our dining experience a pleasure. Thank you Cara.
Food is consistently good. For a sports bar-restaurant, the cuisine is above and beyond. Give 5 stars to Rudy. Rudy is the manager and oversees everything. Main Event is lucky to have him at the helm!!!
Nice laid back place to eat and meet friends for lunch
An exciting spot that makes you feel at home. At The Main Event there are great views of all the TVs at almost every seat, amazing food and drinks. If you are looking to watch your favorite sports team they will be up on the screens for you to enjoy. There is plenty of seating and parking.
The name fooled us, but the food and drinks have us going back frequently. The staff is super friendly and the portions are overly filling. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun sports bar or even a place for a casual date night.
Holy mackerel! The speed of service in this place is second to none! Wonderful servers! Great fried calamari, good fish and chips, and a wide selection of beers on tap. A little pricey but worth the extra dollars for what you get. Make this your next stop for dinner when you're in this part of Long Island.
This was our first time here. When we entered the place was lively, A friend, my wife and I ate here on Thursday Night, 2/1 during Restaurant Week. The price was $46 per person which included one appetizer, one main course and one dessert. We ordered seafood baked clams and sweet chili fried calamari from the Restaurant Week menu. Our friend ordered the French onion soup from the regular menu. I received 2 large seafood baked clams which had plenty of stuffed seafood. It was delicious and had plenty of seafood and not overly made with breadcrumb. There was plenty of fried calamari to share among the three of us. Sweet chili sauce was slightly sweet but still very tasty. The French onion soup was cheesy an flavorful. We ordered for our main course the Land and Sea combo which is Romanian steak, 2 stuffed shrimp with seafood, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, and the Broiled salmon with steamed broccoli and seasoned rice. Our dishes were well presented and served hot.(Sorry. Forgot to take pictures.) We really enjoyed our food. Very tasty and delicious. For dessert, we ordered the creamy cheesecake, oreo crunch ice cream cake and reese's peanut butter pie. Each portion was bigger than expected. The creamy cheesecake lived up to its name. If you like oreo cookies and crunchies then this is the dessert for you. Our friend loved the peanut butter pie. Creamy, plentiful and delicious. Overall, price was reasonable and food was well prepared and delicious. I highly recommend The Main Event in Plainview.
We love all the bartenders and staff here. It's a go to for me as well as my coworkers to come here after a shift and everyone is always so accomodating. It's a great, lively atmosphere. The food is very good too.
I frequent the plainview main event often. My whole family loves it there. We are always happy with the food and service. I was blown away with how they handled our very large reservation on Mother’s Day no less. The manager Gina didn’t miss a beat, and the servers were very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend The Main Event!!
100% recommended eating here! Me and my friend ate here on sunday and our server was camile and she was amazing! Even with it being busy she was so attentive and recommended the french onion dip and it was amazing. The environment is so friendly and everyone is always so nice. Thank you main event!! 😀
Great food and atmosphere. Our waitress Anna was phenomenal! So sweet, on top of things, helpful and gave good recommendations. We waited around for the manager just so we could tell him about her wonderful service but unfortunately he never showed up.
Great sports bar. Fixed up much nicer than a lot of pubs. Pub food but better than most. Tons of TVs. Great for big parties. Back room for private party.
The main event was awesome, cannot wait to come back! I have been to both locations and both have outstanding. Our food was delicious and cooked perfectly. My girlfriend got a burger with fries, and I got the ribs and wings. Our server Javi was right on point and took care of us in a timely and friendly fashion. We are new to the plainview area, and we are excited to return in the near future
Great place to watch sports. Good food and drink. Accommodating staff. Gets crowded for college football nights. Go Penn State! But, how can a Penn State bar close at 9pm on New Year's Eve during the Penn State football quarterfinals???
Amazing selections on the very extensive menu (very unusual broad selection for a sports bar). My party of four required special consideration for our relative's 99th birthday celebration and Main Event was excellent in satisfying our every need. Our waiter, Javier, deserves an Olympic Gold Medal for the great care he provided, above and beyond at every point!
Very fun sports bar. The music selection wasn't the greatest ( unless you love Country, no offense if so haha) but that is just nitpicking to look for something wrong Food was great , my party had a selection of wraps that we were all pleased with. The drinks were delicious ( I had a cucumber spritzer and a coconut margarita The service was superb; our server didn't hover over us yet was always there when we needed them Looking forward to visiting again soon
Good food, great bar and choice of drinks and beers. Definitely no way of missing a game or sporting event sitting in this restaurant/sports bar with the high end large TVs throughout. Good for a hangout, family and friends not looking to do sports watching. Happy that they opened up another location closer so I can visit that location next.
The service was quick, but the food was just okay for the price.
Little bit of everything. Good food. Friendly wait staff. Good specials. Good atmosphere.
Visiting from out of town and really enjoyed coming here. Our waiter Javier was attentive and along with the manager, helped us navigate the menu regarding my son’s severe food allergies. They are fully equipped to handle even severe food allergies. Service doesn’t get any better A+++.
Beautiful setting and welcoming people. I’ll definitely come back!
Just had a memorial service for my mother at The Main Event in Plainview, for 50 + people. Can't say enough good things. The staff was attentive, and professional. The food was delicious. They have a great package for large groups!! I booked with Mike at the Plainview location. But, they also have a Farmindale location, and both are family run. Been to both locations, and they are run by the same owners. Would highly recommend!!
First time here. Tried it out based on a friend's recommendation. The wings were absolutely amazing. If you have room, try the brownie.
Gotta say the girls at the bar here work so hard. This is a great spot for drinks after work . Always sit at the bar and meet nice people
Great variety of food. Portions generous. Service great. Can be noisy at times but tolerable. You won't be disappointed.
We were there for my Mother’s 80th bday on Tuesday 9/24. Rachel, I believe was assigned to our table and did a great job. Polite , attentive and friendly. The whole staff including the manager made our night great. We will be back!
The Main Event team was incredible to work with, and the food was delicious! We recently held our rehearsal / welcome dinner (the day before our wedding) at their Plainview location with close friends and family and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The private room we were given was just the right size for our group of 30 adults + 5 children and it made taking group photos much easier. The balloons / centerpiece, cake of our choice, and personalized menu added a lovely touch, and our guests had nothing but great things to say about all of their meals (as well as the drinks). The manager, Gina, was very sweet and helpful during the booking process, and the staff the night of our event did a fantastic job. We are extremely grateful that The Main Event helped fuel all of us for our big day and highly recommend making a visit or ordering delivery / takeout from one of their restaurants!
Great food and service. Huge TV's . We watched Monday night football. Great atmosphere.
Excellent customer service - super kind & accommodating. Delicious food and drink - gluten free options.
Great variety. Food was tasty. A little noisy but to be expected...
Great all round eatery, tons of sports TV's. Owner has seafood distribution business so the seafood is the best.
This place is amazing. The wings are delicious. The service was on point! Our waiter Andrew was attentive, we never had to look for him, he checked on us at just the right time.
Good place to watch the game and owners relationship with the fish markets have the seafood dishes here way better than ur average sports bar
Had a holiday party in this past weekend in the bar area with 50 people. Bridget and Stacey provided outstanding service. Fun time we had.
The atmosphere is a sports bar. There are screens showing every game going on. As for the food it was absolutely delicious. My daughter and I got seafood and I have never tasted better Chilean Seabass. The service was outstanding. Bridgette was our sever and you could not ask for better. Rudy was the manager. He to was very gracious and professional. This place blew me away❣️ If you’re in the area give it a try. You will leave very happy.😎
Everyone from the bus boys to the servers are so nice here. All the staff is also very attentive. I order my cheeseburgers medium rare and it is consistently cooked to perfection. Strongly recommend. Chris is a great waiter and I don't know all their names but all the bus boys here are awesome.
Great food and atmosphere with bar-style menu items and lots of healthy options, comfy booths/tables, and many TV’s to watch the game. Very kid friendly. FYI Gets busy on big game nights.
Such a pleasure eating last night at the main event in Plainview. Our server was very nice, attentive. The gluten-free menu Had many choices and the server was very knowledgeable to our needs. Two people ate the fajitas and we had Extra to go home! Great experience. Try it.
Came in solo just to grab a drink at the bar and have a small dinner on a Thursday night. Walked in had a nice ice cold IPA and to my surprise the food is amazingly good! I got the tuna tartare special which was thick chunks of tuna w avocado and seaweed salad, w some kind of sauce and chips to accompany it. It was really good and I inhaled it! On top of that I also ordered the French Dip w fries as recommended by the bartender and being I’m already stuffed it came out and it was really good as well!! Fries are nice and crispy, bread is crispy and hot, meat is abundant and flavorful and w the Au jus dip it softens it enough that it’s even more juicy to the bite! I can only eat so much so had to take it home.. Also I forgot the mention portion is pretty good as well! A good you get what you pay for type of place.. I’m happy.. and will be back since I live nearby!
My parents were visiting and we wanted to take them out to dinner but my dad is very picky and like "Normal" places to eat. We chose to come here and it was absolutely perfect. Our waitress Madison was very happy and made suggestions to help us order. All of the food was great as were the drinks. I'm glad we chose here and we will definitely be back.
First time here today. Love the the decor & atmosphere inside. Lots of flat screen TVs for sporting events. The service was great and my Caesar salad with grilled shrimp was delicious. My friend had a tossed salad with grilled chicken & loved it as well. We'll be back for happy hour soon!
It's great for what it purports to be. It's not "fine-dining", but it's a great alternative to Fridays or Bennigans or Applebees. Service was nice and gave us a pitcher instead of bringing refills constantly. Food was properly priced and the sampler tray was big. Big 🥨 was warm and soft, but you may need more cheese dip (sooo good).
Nice and large good atmosphere restaurant and bar… Food was good but prices seem 15-20% higher than what I would have expected. BBQ chicken delicious and drinks were made well. Service good. Music was great…..
No wonder why this place is always packed! The food is great! Try the grilled buffalo wings and the shrimp cocktail. They always come out quick and so good. They have a great bar selection and very friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Nice casual dining spot. It's a sports bar type of place. It is suitable for families. We were accommodated pretty quickly for a party of seven on a Saturday. The food was good. The wings, and oysters were delicious. The draught beer selection is great and service was also good. Parking is available and bathroom was clean.
The food isn’t that great but, this spot is always a great hangout spot to have a couple of beer and drinks
Food was just ok. Some of my chicken was way overcooked and my husband's burger was not pink at all although her ordered it medium-rare. Onion rings were great.
This was my first visit to the Main Event. What a fun place to come with coworkers. Atmosphere was jovial as expected from a sports bar. Wait staff was attentive but not overbearing. We only had starters, yet there was nothing to complain about the food. I look forward to returning.
Server was always attentive without being over bearing. Staff responded to us asking for islander game on TV when it wasn't on regular cable. Burger was cooked to requested doneness and was perfectly fine. French fries, probably frozen but were crisp and not oily. I'd go back!
Pretty solid spot. If you've ever been to a sports bar like Greene Turtle, this experience is very similar. Individual tables and larger tables accommodating different size groups. Lots of TVs so you can watch basically 5 things at once. Pretty solid bar/sports food. Service is also very good. Attentive staff.
A family friendly sports bar and restaurant with many food and beverage selections. It is a popular community spot frequented by locals, business travelers and sports teams. Service is friendly and attentive. Managing staff is always on hand and available should an issue arise. Although I find the price point can be bit high on some of the dishes when trying to feed a family, it is well worth the visit.
My second visit to this place just about a year after the first made me very happy. I'm not in this neck of the woods much... but when I'm here this is a go to kind of place. It's a great sports bar... plenty of screens, friendly environment but it has unexpectedly upscale food. Chilean Sea Bass anyone?! They do the usual... wings and sliders... and they do that well. But they also do healthy alternatives... lentil soup, incredible hummus, tasty salads. I've been here with large groups both times and everyone left happy. Great tap selection. Especially friendly service. Last year we were trying to set up a special event and management was very cooperative. Our event fell through... but they were great about it all. They surpass all expectations for a sports bar!!
Decent place to visit if you like a sports bar environment and not looking for a quiet meal. Food was fine, staff is friendly. We ordered the Olympic (or was it Olympia?) platter which is a huge portion of food that the three of us could barely finish. We saved some room for the main course which was good.
This place is a very nice place. I had the chicken nachos which were excellent. The BBQ wrap was amazing. The waitress was nice and friendly. They has plenty of Tvs to watch for your favorite sport.
Food was good. This place has a gigantic menu, so chances are, everyone will find something they like; unless they're vegetarian, then they have all of 2 or 3 choices on the whole menu. My friends had some trouble ordering here for this reason. This restaurant has the menu of a steakhouse with the ambiance of a sports bar - which might not exactly be my cup of tea - but it was a clean place with fresh food and good service, so I can't complain.
Nice sports bar average American bar food !
I live less than a mile away from this place for 10 years. Multiple people in town recommended this place to me in the past. Finally, I gave in and said I have to try it. So I had lunch here with my wife. I got the seafood combo stuffed. I was actually really surprised for the taste and quality of this dish from a bar restaurant. It was in fact really good. My wife had gotten the rigatoni ala vodka. That dish was a little disappointing because the past was way overcooked that everytime she stabbed the fork through the pasta it fell apart. Also the vodka sauce tasted more like tomato sauce and isnt very creamy. Service was great. Waitress was polite and attentive. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect from a sport bar/restaurant. Tons of TVs all over the place. Whenever any sporting events are playing this place would be perfect. Selection of alcohol/beer is unknown for me since I didn't look. Definitely coming back
Service is pretty good, and food is decent. The buffalo wings are by far the best. They also have about 10 Tv's with sports in every section of the place. And the food is also fairly priced. I highly recommend you try this place.
Pleasant bar/restaurant. Seafood very special. I had the scrod and it was fresh and made exactly to my requests. Friendly service. I enjoyed the food, my sister not so much. Said it had a funny taste. She had the salmon burger. Good parking at the time we went (a little after 1 pm).
Pretty good service. Bartender was great though he made my wife's drink wrong the first time and still charged us full price. Second time he made it right. The coconut Martin's are made really good!(according to my wife). Food was great. Ordered apps (Buffalo wings and cheese quesadilla) both came out fast and hot as well as tasty.
Food here is really good and there are a lot of good choices. It is a good place to watch a game. The server was very busy and not as attentive as we would as we would have liked. This place is very noisy and it is difficult to have a nice conversation.
Food was surprisingly good but the service at lunch time was horrible got there at 12:30 and didn't get served until 1:30 and the place was empty
Great sports bar with good wings. Big menu, nice tvs and nice staff
Great place to go watch sports. Lots of tvs in all directions. Good place for families and groups of friends. The wings are good drinks were ok as well
We had take out that wasn't bad, that's what drove us to try it out in person. Not bad, and fairly priced but nothing to set it apart from OB, TGIF or any equally sized american restaurant on the island. Everybody (the boss and 4 kids) like just enough of something so it wasn't a waste, but not enough of everything to likely warrant another visit. The server was very nice, and again the food was priced right for what we got. But once seems to have been enough.
Dined in tonight, first time here. The ambiance is cool with good music and large tvs everywhere, a good-sized bar too! I got the Monterey chicken, large portion, juicy, topped with bacon and mushrooms, and smothered with cheese served with honey mustard on the side. What's not to like? I got a house salad with sautéed onions on the side. Wish the onions were caramelized but my fault for thinking they were. Tax and tip rounded it to $33.
Went to The Main Event at Plainview a few nights ago for dinner and had a nice time. Plainview is one of two locations out on Long Island, NY. The other one is at Farmingdale, which I think is larger. Our server was courteous and attentive. The food was good. I asked for my steak medium rare, but it looked like it was passed medium. It was still alright. No complaints all in all.
The Main Event is a really good place for a wonderful casual dining experience. Plus it is a terrific sports bar with tons of large screen televisions all over the place! It is also a fun place with lots of great spots photos and memorabilia. Our waiter Joey was tremendous. He was super professional, helpful and full of positive energy. One of the best waiters that I have had in a long time. The food was great as well. We enjoyed our salads and vegetables. The main courses were all fresh, delicious and cooked perfectly. I loved my broiled scallops. They were super flavorfull! My wife's broiled shrimp was fantastic. She loved the Sautéed Spinach. In addition, my dad enjoyed his NY Strip Steak with Tennessee Sauce. As for dessert, there was a very nice selection. My wife thought that her cheesecake was wonderful and my dad really enjoyed his apple pie. They also make a great cappuccino! The place was a well oiled machine. The staff kept things moving along very nicely. It was also spotless. Such a clean restaurant. Also there was a good amount of space between tables; so it was a safe environment for these crazy times.... We will definitely come back for another delicious dining experience sooner than later. If you are in the Plainview area, it is worth checking out for some good eats!
I stopped in for a couple beers and the potato 🥔 skins. A coworker recommended the place. The potato skins were a miss. The beers were good. Potato skins tasted too much like potatoes and hand overloaded with cheese 🧀 they basically potatoes cut quarters or eight’s covered in cheese. I’ll go back probably other location see how the burgers 🍔 are.
Frequent this place regularly considering it's down the clock. Service is great. Food is usually tasty and well-proportioned, however most recently, my wife and I experienced bad stomach discomfort the day after we had a late-night dinner. Since this happened only this one time, we will brush it off as an outlier, though it is disappointing since we were leaning on considering them our go-to spot. For a Sports Bar I'm not too sure why they only promote NFL, MLB and NHL games and ignore NBA playoff action, considering basketball is the second most popular sport in the US. Also, their burgers are good but not sure why they don't use a brioche or regular hamburger bun instead of a stale kaiser roll, since everything in between the kaiser roll is great tasting.
Nothing special. Regular place. Regular atmosphere.
The place is clean, the hostess very good, the Cesar salad was okay. The server very poland .I ordered Broil Salmon was good to, My wife ordered the NY steak she asked for MW Temperature and it was over cook no good she wasn't happy. Also the bots is not comfortable, people push a lot when they take the sits no good.
The food is pretty good... except the nachos (my opinion). Prices are high and it's a bit noisy.
We had a holiday gathering here. The atmosphere was fine but food was very average. I had a dozen wings, half were teriyaki and half BBQ. The teriyaki was way tasty, but too salty. The BBQ, was sweet and tasted like a bottled sauce. Overall not particularly good. The service was good and we had a nice time, but I would not go here for the food. A friends got the chicken quesadilla, which looked good, but I didn't try it.
3 stars is pretty generous for this place and it was mostly cause the staff was really nice but the way our table was set up it was at a weird angle and we were on too of another table for no reason even the waitresses could barely get through to give food and the food itself definitely was not that great no where close to giving me that wow factor like I would need to come back the grilled chicken and eggplant wrap was very bland it needed like seasoning it tasted like a wrap I could get at a local deli for 8$ instead this was 16$ to pay 16$ for a wrap I expected it to have better flavor then to taste like it came from a deli and most menu prices were not that cheap either the mashed potatoes were decent and the fries were decent but not something I would go back for the menu is too big and the various food options of cuisine from pasta dishes to greek to mexican to burgers like you cant focus on one thing to be really good and everything just tastes average
Underwhelming meal. A restaurant like this should have a perfected "burger and fries" meal, but the burger was not cooked as ordered, and the meal was lukewarm in temperature at best. I don't usually leave critical reviews, but it seems a shame that such a decent atmosphere could eliminate return business because a "bar food staple" food item couldn't be well produced- and, hopefully, someone who can make a difference there will care to fix the issue. Server was OK, friendly and somewhat attentive- there were a lot of patrons on Halloween night, so this is somewhat understandable. These are minor issues- and, maybe some of the other menu items are fantastic, because there were some interesting choices that sounded really good. I would cautiously recommend this restaurant and hope I just was an exception to a better rule that I simply didn't experience on that visit.
The chicken wing was the only item that was good. The chicken nacho was very different than other bar restaurant with a lots of lettuce on top. A lot of draft beer selections.
The waitress barely acknowledged our party of six. We had to go and find her several times because she didn’t come back to the table. 10 minutes wait for a beer. 15 minutes to get a glass of water. Would not recommend.
The sports bar aspect was great, but the food not so much. The chicken burger tasted like a taco and was not good. They should have to market it as a taco inspired dish, because it was not what I was expecting at all.
I've been going to this place since it was called Sluggo's. Over the last year have stopped going weekly because the food quality has gone down tremendously. The prices have skyrocketed.
I was told had to try main event. It was a disaster. Wings had no flavor.nachos we got was the wrong order.kept them anyway they were a mess.lettuce not chopped. No hot cheese very dry . Bread in french dip was stale. Service was ok not great. The highlight of the place was the spanish guys working hard to be honest while waiters were to busy standing around
couldn’t even judge the food went in there at 9 o’clock to get dinner with a couple friends was told the kitchens closed. Told the lady your website says 11 o’clock. She goes. Oh well we’re gonna close early cause it’s slow very bad customer service you can’t close a restaurant two hours early cause you feel like it.
