Small Village Cafe Port Chester Reviews
Really impressed with this small hole-in-the-wall spot for breakfast! The service was great, plenty of seating, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the Huevos Rancheros!
This humble cafe tucked off Midland Avenue was a tasty and convenient place to grab a homesweet breakfast with an original twist. We arrived to a couple open tables among the regulars and seated ourselves. We were served coffee, but it was also a help-yourself situation. My spouse inquired after the vegetarian options and picked an omelet. I went with one of the house specialities, the Chapin: a plate with two eggs (mine over-easy), warm soft tortillas, a square of white cheese, some creme fresca/sour cream, a cup of black beans, and fried plantains. The plantains arrived on the plate caramelized and rich with sweet fresh flavor straight from the hot pan. I put it all together and had flavorful bites I’ve never had before. We also enjoyed trying to test our Spanish listening to the morning show on the tv nearby. What else can you want? Don’t let the humble interior fool you. The hostess was kind and the food is worth a trip when you’re nearby. It’s the kind of small business eatery that actually keeps this great country running.
Came here for breakfast and it was exactly what we needed after a long night. The California omelette was fantastic and our server was very friendly. The building is a little snug so I imagine it can get little crowded but we were having a late breakfast so there was plenty of space for us.
LOVED THIS PLACE! Amazing coffee and food right off the highway. Really nice waitress. Also - to the people in there reading “Rich Dad Poor Dad” - keep going, you got this!

I love this place for a quick Lunch grab. Price is reasonable and the portions are great. I usually get some pizza here and they are fantastic. The lomo & spaghetti & meatballs are great. I wish I could try everything here. The workers are great people as well.
A lovely “Mom & Pop” restaurant. We are so glad to have patronized this establishment. Came for Saturday morning breakfast. Everything was excellent!!
I almost went to Starbucks for a bite to eat to go and a coffee, but I came here instead. I am so glad I did! The service was so fast and the food is delicious. (I wish there was salt on the home fries because they were sort of bland, but that’s an easy fix…. and I wasn’t even expecting home fries with my order, so it was a nice surprise to have them at all!) There is nothing like quick fresh and filling food.
Small cafe with very tasty food. Claudio (owner) was more than happy to make a healthy dinner for me, including a California dinner salad with chicken and a plate of sauteed veggies, which were cooked perfectly. Overall Avery nice experience and very reasonable prices!
Small Village Cafe definitely lived up to our expectations! It’s a quaint little breakfast/brunch place. I ordered the steak and eggs with pancakes and it was DELICIOUS! My boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito and he raved about how the eggs were made just right. The service was excellent and so was the coffee.
the sinful salad is absolutely delicious. Fresh greens, tomatoes, radish, pickled onions, a bit of bacon and chicken warm from the grill. I had stopped in rye to charge my car at the nearby Marriott. The bistro at the Marriott is closed. I walked down the street and ordered this salad. I realized I had left my wallet in the car. I mentioned this to the owner who said in broken English - “no worries , Pay me some other time”. Such kindness. I will, in just a few minutes. And did I mention, the salad is delicious! I will make this little place a regular stop on my long trip from Boston to Maryland
Very delicious food, beautiful mom-and-pop cafe. 5/5
Delightful example of where “the locals” eat, and highly recommend to tourists like me who really enjoy getting acquainted with communities that aren’t “touristy”. Marvelous service from Sonia and really really great food at great prices!
First of all, food is amazing, and they have freshly squeezed orange juice. ALSO Ryan Stasik the bassist for Umphrey's McGee was eating there so they have some pretty respectable clientele
My grandpas food is so amazing I am his granddaughter by the way and I have gone to New York once and I went to visit his restaurant and oh my it’s so delicious I would totally recommend and would totally travel there again just for his cooking because he is such a amazing cook and I loved his pancakes with fruit on top and whip cream ,I love his restaurant so much and I love my grandpas cooking and him and would totally recommend but not only because he is my grandpa but because his food is amazing

Small place but really good food! The owner was very nice, we got the chapin, breakfast sandwich and steak and eggs and it was all really good.

The food not so good I had the steak and eggs and there was more oninons then steak. And the steak was over cooked and tough and the pancakes no taste. Place had one other customer but as soon as I was done they look my plate and sprayed cleaner and wiped down the table. I had not even gotten up from the table yet almost sprayed my arms. The only thing good about the meal was the OJ Tropicana in the bottle. I gave it a one star cause the waitress had a nice smile wink wink.
We had breakfast delivered. They sent the wrong coffee and refused to redeliver a new one as ordered. It should be best practice to accommodate your customers especially when you make mistakes. The woman on the phone was very rude and chose to argue back about a coffee instead of taking care of a customer this has made us never want to order again from this place. Port Chester is full of restaurants places like this are a dime a dozen they should really be nice to their patrons.
I hate to reverse my original post of this place, a decline of service and quality of food is noticable. But what my sister and I experienced inspired me to write about my latest experience here. We went to visit as this was starting to become a place my sister and i visit and catch up. We came in ordered the empanadas to start and ordered the pancake and egg meal. The empanadas were insanely oily.. we also had to get up to get our own green sauce and ketchup since the hostess/waitress was too busyu having a deep conversation with a guy. Our food came and the pancakes was very dry and needed to drown it in syrup (which i had to get up and ask for, since once again the waitress was too busy with what seems to be a important conversation). I was only able to eat half of one before giving up and turn my attention to the eggs and bacon.as i was eating,a maintenance worker decided its a great idea to replace on fire alarm right behind me. First, you're hoovering over me personal space please. Second, its dusty. We decided to move to another table and of course not a word from this waitress. I went up to complain and recieved no type of apology. The closest i got to an apology was a "oh yeah he should know better". And continued with her conversation.she did not even bother to tell the guy to stop until other people were done eating. No apology not even a refill on our coffee just awful service. Needless to say they lost our business and the business of several family and friends that i recommended to go here. Hopefully the owner would read this and take it as valuable information
Slow Village Cafe, waited over a half hour for two sandwiches. I would have walked out but paid when placing the order. The cafe only had four other guests. Not sure if the needed to make the bread from scratch, but an Italian combo show not take a half hour. Was not even offer to comp the meal or refund.
