#A1 Chinese Kitchen Potsdam Reviews
The food I had ordered was excellent. Great service friendly people.

Very clean. Always SO nice! I'm always craving their great food!
Very delicious hot meal. Beef n broccoli was delicious would return here again
Very quick service and good
I like their menu. Always consistent good
The food was delicious and hot and the portions were more than enough.
I love the crab rangoon and wonton soup:)
Good is always hot and fresh! The price is great for the amount you receive!
It was Great! Food was tasty. Egg roll was nice and crispy. Even the chicken in the General Tao's was crispy! It was so good! Will go back!
This restaurant is still takeout only. The food is excellent and the amount you get for the cheap price is insanely great, and wait time is very minimal. Highly recommended
Food was delicious and FAST !! Well priced and also friendly staff all the way around . Will be eating here again
My family have been valued customers for over a decade now and have had nothing but amazing food and quaity service. I have had nothing but quality food that comes with a great price.
The best Chinese food in the North Country. Friendly staff and amazing food! Would definitely recommend!
Chinese food in a small town in northern ny. Always been fresh and well prepared. Nice bite on the szechuan beef. Order every week and consistently consistent
Great Chinese restaurant! The food is so good, they are quick to deliver, & friendly. Excellent!
Best Chinese food option in the local area. Always quick, good and insanely cheap.
I’ve yet to order a dish that isn’t absolutely amazing. I’ve lived in Potsdam for over a month, and just one block from these guys. I order from them at least once a week, sometimes more.
I get takeout from them every week or two and the food's always great. Never had to wait longer then 15 minutes from placing the order.
Very large selection of American-Chinese food. The staff is very kind, the portions are generous (and delicious!) and the prices are great. Their dining area is always spotless and the wait time is always short.
I've heard lots of people talk about the terrible quality food from this place. But I've been going here for 5 years and never once had an issue. Their prices are pretty good as well especially their lunch specials.
I like this A1 Kitchen much like the one in Canton. They have incredible general tsos, and great food quality for cheap prices. The only thing that the Canton one has over this is the ability to order through a website instead of calling. They have a great menu with lots of variety.
Far better then the buffet down the road. Food was fresh and wontons were also made fresh. Well worth a visit, we will be back.
Love it great food!
Some of the best chinese food I’ve had. Never disappointed with anything i get from here.
I have been ordering from this place for over 10 years with only ever one bad experience. Almost always flawless service, very kind staff, low prices, and good food. Best as a delivery service, in my opinion, as the in house seating is not really very comfortable. Very deserving of all 5 stars.
Best Chinese takeout. Made to order, fresh veggies, delicious, generous portions, and ridiculously cheap. If I were a college student here, I'd live off their orange chicken, white rice, and broccoli. I can't imagine how tough pandemic times must have been for this restaurant, but Potsdam is damn lucky to have this cook! Order takeout only. No dine in still for covid safety.
Food is always quick fresh and delicious
The best Chinese in the area. And amazing fast service even when they're slammed. We dote on their beef broccoli, chicken lo main and sweet and sour chicken. And with six you get eggroll. And their eggroll is the best. Bustling, stark and bright atmosphere but for take out that's fine as you don't eat atmosphere .
Placed an order online and it was finished so fast. Very good food, very hot and fresh when I picked it unless and took it home
Love this little joint. The people are very nice and the food is absolutely delicious every single time. It's a bit of a drive for us but worth it when we are craving Asian Flair.
Placed a very large order for lunch (10 people). They were fast, everything was included and made correctly, and they had great customer service. Will be back!
The owners son is the best. He showed me his mincraft world while his mother got my meal
I haven't had their food since 2018, but it's gone down since then. Lady in the phone refused our delivery when we first called because we weren't in the village. We're 10 minutes away... Had to offer a big tip. The delivery lady was super nice. The Mongolian grill down the road is definitely much better.
It is our pleasure to find at least one additional location to enjoy a wonderfully consistent quality , quantity and freshness of Authentic Krafted Chinese Food . The staff at this location are all courteous , professional and easy to understand . The facility is obviously a newer building with up to date amenities for all patrons including those who choose to eat in and are pleased to have a very clean , quiet environment to enjoy their FINELY PREPARED FARE BY PEOPLE WHO TRULY CARE ! If you haven't tried this experience yet , please do so at our recommendation which for all who have read my many posts over the recent years know isn't easily given a clear " thumbs up " gesture ! Give them a chance and if you are fair minded individual I don't believe you will be disappointed . Thank you , Jerry and Millie DeFiore ❤️
Single favorite Chinese food restaurant. It is so clean. Veggies are fresh. General Tso sauce is on point (I get the general Tso tofu). The interior is even clean, feels organized. Very different than many Chinese restaurants you and me have been you, lol
Had a great experience. Food was hot and portion was generous. Customer service was great. After over a decade of loving here I'm glad I finally got to trying thier food. Will return and highly recommend.
Typical Chinese take-out ... always hot food. I often have chicken and brocolli, egg rolls, moo-goo gai pan, veggie low mein ... all good.
Bomb dignity when they actually answer the phone for a delivery order.. general TSO'S CHICKEN with pork fried rice and egg roll can't go wrong!
Huge selection of American chinese dishes and always generous portions. A nice perk is that they deliver too!
Your basic Chinese American but reasonable prices and decent food. New location is an improvement although a few less tables.
Love the wonton soup! Slightly undercook the noodles, which is a good thing, prevents the wonton from becoming mushy to quickly
Love the new place, great location and typical Chinese food for good prices
When I want Chinese, this is where I get it. Pretty typical fair but I enjoy it and they've never really messed anything up on me. I can't recall a bad experience in all the times I've ordered there.
The only oriental food I will eat. It was very clean and affordable! Service was great!
Everyone can have a bad day, though my egg fu young was wonderful, not sure what happened with my rice this time. But basically a pretty good place to grab some Chinese take-out
Their shrimp Chow mei fun is delicious and so is their beef and broccoli. They are our go to meals with them. The dumplings are great as well.
Sometimes this place is really good and other times it's bad. The other day I got the general tso chicken and found a small piece of bone in it. Plus why doesn't the chicken lo mein have any noodles in it?
Portions are huge but the meat is questionable....
I eat here regularly. The food is consistently good. Fairly priced and fresh. Nice change from the typical buffets around. Service is ok. Not always really friendly but the food makes up for it. I especially like the egg foo yung and the fried chicken in the sweet and sour chicken. Though they technically don’t have “chicken fingers “ the sweet and sour comes with the sauce on the side.
Food is great. for a change in tastes. I am old fashioned. I like to communicate, be able to rociprocate my orders. Other then the language barrier and hope that most of the money stays in our community. (Which I'm sure it doesn't.) This place has always been very good. Never a complaint with food.
Overpriced for Chinese food but fair price for this region Quality meh Doesn’t deliver lunch Food is kind of bland Canton one is better
The food is good Every other time except friday and Saturdays they are so busy that it doesn't come out like it would when they are not busy.
The sign says "The Best Chinese Restaurant in the North Country" but let's be real it's not even the best Chinese restaurant in Potsdam. You'll have to go up the other end of Market for that. The buffet has pretty much every item this place has, and does it almost the same (with a few exceptions), but there you can eat as much as you want of whatever you want. But they do have a few items done better than I've had anywhere else: crab rangoons, wonton soup, fried wontons, and chicken wings. That's right, they're the only place in town that cooks them without drying them out or pulling 'em up medium well. Sauce 'em in your own kitchen to taste and you won't be disappointed--lord knows every Super Bowl party I've been to in the past 4 years hasn't been.
food is way too expensive!!! service sucks, i had the phone hung up on me a least 3 times -____-. and when they finally deliver the person never has change so they end up usually taking an extra dollar. they don't serve fries! what Chinese restaurant don't serve fries?! they sell their food separate, there's only a certain time to get specials. im a college student from brooklyn. i have never had this with a Chinese place. im moving back home where the customer is always right...oh and they cut up the wings and charge u for the separate pieces, the last time i check chickens were born with a full wing, not a piece of a wing. what a rip off!
Ordered a few items for a family dinner: chicken Lo Mein-very mediocre. Chicken Cho Mein-disgusting! Onions and chicken pieces swimming in a thick clear jello like tasteless sauce..And no noodles...?! Not sure what was that dish!! Sesame chicken-ok. Order of chicken wings - no flavor... Items were ready on time and hot, but other than that - not a worthy dinner. A couple of months ago had a little better experience, but not sure will go back... a very disappointing experience...
Food and service always leaves something to be desired here. My family and I rather travel to Canton than eat here.
It seems like every time I call to order they are always in a bad mood. I've gotten hung up on numerous times by them and they are generally very rude. I like some of their food but not enough to be treated so poorly.
I ordered by phone with the menu online. But when I checked out, the price is not the same because the menu they have has a different price than the menu listed online! And the lady seems always grumpy about something. Well, so be it!
This was an overall, not so great experience. The "environment" of the restaurant (if you even want to call it that) is boring to say the least. On their menu they advertise in big bold letters "NO MSG", i being a person who gets throbbing headaches from MSG wanted to be reassured that there wasn't indeed any in the food. When i asked an employee if there was MSG in their food, not only did the guy not have a single clue what i was saying but he had to go ask his "boss" in order to even know what i said. He then proceeded to tell me "We dont put that flavor in our food, its some sort of flavor" Needless to say after getting a headache 20 minutes later, wont be going back there.
I have not cared for this place since they moved. 3rd time there only since move. I love general taso chicken. I always always ask for Xtra spicy. Today I dont think they put any on. Guess it will be another year before I try them again. I just had a craving for it
I don’t know if I caught the lady answering the phone on a bad or something , but when I went to place my order her tone of voice sounded extremely displeasing/welcoming , then not only that but like rushing to fulfill my order not allowing a second to ask a question. When I went to ask my question she had already hung up the phone on me ? The food is actually pretty decent but they should have a call center set up so you can actually place an order or at least a friendly staff wanting to meet a customers wants. So this restaurant will deserves a 2.5 star rating .
my friends and i order delivery from here at least once a week. the food is good, especially the crab rangoon. the only problem is the time before the food is received. the lady who answers the phone is exceptionally rude, and often rushes us while we are ordering, and complains that they are busy every single time we order. as someone who works in the food industry, i understand that it can get busy in restaurants, but it is never good to complain to customers. the lady who answers the phone makes for a very negative atmosphere and experience. then delivery takes a long time, granted that is understandable if they are busy. i enjoy the food from here, and i was fine putting up with the lady for a little, but now it’s become excessive and makes my friends and i not want to order from here anymore.
The food is overly expensive, and the online menu has yet to be updated. I thought my order would come out to be around $15 dollars, but it ended up being $25. The delivery is deceitful, and the order rarely arrives on time and has always been late, that's fine I understand that it can get busy at times, but I rather have them tell me the truth than give me a random time. Though, the lunch specials are worth it and is the only time I see as fitting to go there for food. When my order finally got here, I got 4 burnt pieces of ribs and barely any rice, come on guys...
We must have caught A-1 on a bad night. Our delivery order was placed over the phone. At the end, I said I would like to pay with card and gave the information. It was repeated back to me so I knew they heard. We were told our food would arrive in about an hour. About an hour and a half later it arrived, but we were told we had to pay in cash because they did not actually ever charge the card we gave them. This scares me because it means there is a piece of paper with my credit card number and expiration on it just in the restaurant. The food itself was poorly packaged - dishes with more than 1 cup of sauce were put into styrofoam containers and wrapped in plastic wrap, which dripped all over the floor as soon as they were opened, resulting in a very messy cleanup. The food itself is pretty standard American-ized Chinese delivery. If you order, probably worth going to the store so you can be sure things are charged and packaged as you would like.
Well I ordered the beef and noodles. And the chicken w vegetables, ragoons and egg rolls. Says beef only comes in large sz terrible the beef was all fat not edible/noodles soggy. I also ordered the chicken w Veges, no taste I ordered a pint she charge me for quart. Ragoons taste odd, egg rolls soggy. Cost $60. Never again.
I have been to this place multiple times and I have seen this multiple times that they treat people of color differently and I am taking my business elsewhere! Too bad, because the food is good but the treatment isn't!!
Probably the worst Chinese food I have had in a long time. Food was extremely greasy and had no flavor.
They give you one soy sauce and one duck sauce. Not even enough for your egg roll or the rest of your food
I'm not sure who was cooking today but the food was so disgusting we had to throw it away, we usually eat here and it's amazing but lately it's been either over cooked and gross tasting.
The service is very rude. Also, the website prices are severely outdated, and when my order which I thought was going to be $18 turned out to be $26, both women I talked to on the phone had an attitude. I will not be ordering from here again.
There was white hair in my food . I called back to get it fixed but they didn't understand me because the only English they know is what Is on the menu . Then I ate the other food that didn't have hair in it and got food poisoning.
Menu says they deliver to Norwood, but they only appear to deliver there when they feel like it. Don’t tell your customers you deliver to an area if you’re not willing to always deliver to that area when you’re delivering orders!
rubbish like everything Chinese restaurant based same as American diners. too many of these type of places
Ordered food for delivery. They called 30 min later and said it would be 20 more min. When they didn't show 45 min later I called and they said they couldn't deliver. When I got upset they hung up on me and when I called back, I was hung up on again . I will never try to eat there again.
So it’s 9:45 at night and I used to live in norwood where they would deliver to, so I called tonight and asked if they’d deliver to Norfolk and before I could finish my sentence this lady hung the phone up. Must be in a rush to get home lol, worst customer service and this isn’t the first time. Y’
Do not order the Moo Goo Gai Pan. Not only was it unappetizing, but it made me very sick. "Best Chinese Food in the North Country" is blatantly false.
There fried rice and sesame chicken is terrible compared to the the city and the quality of other food is rather poor. I gave it a few chances but it just isn’t it
The lady who answers the phone is unbelievably rude! The food is a poor representation of Chinese food. I don’t know how you all are still open but the food is not worth any amount of money.
Worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Even the buffets are better. Couldn’t eat anything, threw it all out. Bland or sewer-y or unrecognizable sauces even for popular items like sesame chicken. Avoid!!!
Ok, I know "All Chinese food is the same." But, its not. I really wanted to like this, especially since they have a new fancy building. For starters, the egg rolls tasted off, almost like they weren't cooked long enough. I had the sweet & sour chicken. The sauce itself was good. The chicken was so-so. Most of the chicken was covered with such a thick layer of breading, it was gross. And the fried rice, was nothing great. My fiancé had the pepper steak. He has gotten it from a lot of different Chinese restaurants however it looked nothing like it has before. It seemed like a generic sauce was put on it. There wasn't even any pepper on it....hmm. Overall we were not impressed. I wont be going back to this location anytime soon. (The A1 in Canton is SOOO much better).
Poor quality food, you get the bad scraps of meat so you're usually left with rubbery chewy meat, which is great if you're a fan of meat flavored gum. Vegetables are also undercooked and bland. Would recommend just buying the ingredients and making yourself, you can get it all for much cheaper.
This was my last stop after testing all other Chinese restaurants in the area. It tasted the worst. Even steamed white rice which usually has a good fragrance and is hard to mess up, tasted like they put too much water.
Absolutely horrific experience. My husband bit into his egg roll and nearly broke his tooth. There was a ROCK in it! Like a freaking stone from outside in his egg roll. It isn't a tiny rock it's big. He attempted to call them because we got it as takeout and they hung up on him twice. If I could post a picture, I would. For your freaking health and safety do NOT eat here!
This is the second worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. I wasn’t expecting much, considering we are in far north white people country, but seriously - this place is disgusting. Food quality is horrid, the recipes aren’t even correct. These guys need to go back to China for a few months and remember how to cook food.
The girl who answers the phone and takes orders is not friendly at all! Monotone voice and rude!! Most delivery places only get one chance to make a good impression and that's the person who answers the phone! She makes me not want to order from them again!
Customer service is terrible, half of them can't comprehend. Messed up my whole order and when I called to let them know, they started arguing with me and telling me that i was wrong. They said they wouldn't refund my money. after continuous arguing with different employees i was given my refund. this place deserves no stars at all
This place used to be decently priced decent food. The quality of the food has declined over the past several years. Trying to call in an order will generally leave you with someone who is rude and quickly hangs up the phone. I just recently ordered sweet and sour chicken and got extremely sick from it. I am never ordering from here again. And I suggest the same to all of you.
Horrible service when you call them and in person. Lady on the phone will hang up on you for no reason and food is far below average. Oddly the restaurant in Canton still seems pretty decent but Potsdam’s is SO BAD. Avoid this place until they change management or make major changes.
Food is ok, somewhat bland, basic fare. The girl at the counter is THE rudest person I have ever encountered in the restaurant business. No hello, no smile, no please or thank you. I asked a simple question about the noodles and it took an act of God to get an answer out of her. She just threw our food angrily on the table and walked away. Had to ask twice where our appetizers were, she nodded toward the fryer and there they sat until she was good and ready to bring them over, when we were just about done eating. Asking for some condiments just about pushed her right over the edge. We watched her treat everyone like that who came in the door. Because of her, we won't go back.
This is by far the worst service I have ever experienced! I ordered chicken and chinese vegetables. First the delivery guy took more than an hour to get here, then he texted me but was at the wrong building! Then he gets here, I get the food and it isn't even what I ordered!! It's egg drop soup! I call back to tell them I have the wrong order and the lady says that he is on his way again... That was 2 hours ago! I call back and get hung up on or get their answering machine. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE! THEY HAVE LOST MY BUSINESS!!!
I called to order delivery on 12/27/2025. We were told they don’t deliver to my address, we explained they had previously. Then we were told the weather was bad. It’s a clear sky tonight. No precipitation. We live 5 miles from the restaurant.
First it was freezing in there places our orders got our food was handed the wrong food (meanwhile I started eating the food) the worker took food back closed the container and gave it to the person that ordered it got the correct order the porch fried rice had pork that was still oinking while sitting there a cook in the back hacked a lougie it was so disgusting I couldn’t eat worse place ever to eat Chinese food
We ordered take out and the General Tso chicken was unidentifiable. It was dry and tasted like deep fried breaded cartilage. The lo mein was dry and seemed as if it was left over from days prior. Egg rolls and spring rolls tasted exactly the same . Quite possibly the worst Chinese Food we have ever had.
*USED TO BE REALLY GOOD! .... not sure what happened? But about summer of 2023, something changed? We ate here regularly for years, but recently my daughter started getting sick from it, then we noticed subtle changes in the products, and finally we had it one last time yesterday and the whole family got sick/headache/ect! We Won't go back :(
I've been going here for the past 20yts and today was the worst experience I've had so far. The completely got my order wrong and I had to come 30 miles to get the rest of it and when I got it it was burnt. Some of the spare ribs are like chewing on jerky. It's going to be a long time before I go back if ever.
Food is generally okay. The wait is terrible and they are unbelievably rude. No manners and gets mad at any questions. Delivery takes over an hour for every order placed on several occasions. Extremely short with any conversation. Quality has gone completely down hill with the food and service provided with delivery time and hospitality. Worst Chinese food I've ever ordered. Chicken covered in fat and egg rolls are mediocre at best. It's as though they put half effort in to every order. They continuously hang up on mid orders if they get frustrated and if you try to call back with the same number they will pick up just to hang up not a full second later. Don't even speak English. Each experience is a train wreck to put it lightly. UPDATE:The food finally came a total of 2 hours after order and they brought us the wrong food order and the food they gave us looked like steam vegetables with rice (looks like a cat threw it up) in the wrong size, and we ordered chicken.
