Lola’s Poughkeepsie Reviews
Cute little spot. I came for the short rib grilled cheese that I had seen on a video. It was good but a little thinner than pictured but still good. I loved the tomato chutney that came with it. It had just the right amount of sweetness and spice to meld with the cheese. Hubby liked the red pepper soup he thought it could use more cubed potatoes like in a chowder to make it more hearty. Service was great everyone was so friendly. It was slow when we got there but picked up quickly. Loved that I could get a gluten free version and there are also vegan choices. Cute spot very clean.
Someone recommended this cute cafe type restaurant to us while in the area. We loved it! The menu, food, service and music were all amazing. The staff was so personable. I’ve been thinking about my soup and salad and wish I lived closer.
Went with a couple co-workers for lunch. The service was great, our food came out quickly, and everything tasted great! I had the Chicken Bruschetta sandwich and the Chicken Tortilla Soup!!! They were great
Great staff! Great food! So accommodating and food was delicious. I had the special Salad & Steak & potatoes!! I came from Colorado to Kingston to visit Friends & we picked you randomly to meet at. So awesome and great!! Then the Bonus!! Lori's cousins own Abrusci's in Golden Colorado where I lived 2 blocks away!! What a small and wonderfully world! Thank you Lola's!!!
Don't drive too fast and miss this hidden gem. I was getting gas when I saw two different ppl in about 2mins picking up food. I googled them and proceeded to my appointment. Their menu was intriguing, so on my way bk stopped in for soup and sandwich and their signature peanut noodles. Their noodles are delicious both cold and hot. The soup was perfect for autumn weather; chicken sausage ans beans. That coupled with my short rib sandwich. Lmk tell you, I cldnt even finish my sandwich. Tht was fine with me; more enjoyment for the next day. Service was great. They were very attentive. There's parking in the back. Prices were good. Place was clean. While I took mine to go, one can dine in. Its perfectly positioned near the Walk-on/over-the Hudson. One can walk and then sit and eat. Plan on visiting again when in the area.
The staff is friendly and welcoming. The other guestsbl were as well, I was recovering from surgery and was having difficulty waking / standing, one of the patrons offered me a seat with them until our table was ready so I didn't have to stand so long. The wait was not too bad so I declined, but greatly appreciated the offer. The food is absolutely delicious. Had a BLAT (Bacon, lettuce. avacado, and tomato) for lunch and bought a container of spicy peanut noodles to bring home for the next day, both were fantastic.
I recently had to switch to a gluten-free diet, and Lolas has become one of my favorite places to visit now. So many options, food is fantastic, and I am always super impressed with the portion sizes for the price. Feels like a total steal!
Such a lovely atmosphere! The women behind the counter were so friendly and welcoming. Even though it was super busy when we arrived around noon (which we expected), the food still came out quickly. The peanut salad is an absolute must—literally the best I’ve had! I was also excited to see they serve Harney tea, which is my favorite. When you walk in, you're greeted by beautiful plants, which really adds to the vibe. You can choose to sit at the counter or grab a table. Overall, a great experience!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Experience at Lola’s Café! Lola’s Café completely exceeded our expectations! From the cozy, inviting atmosphere to the amazing food and warm service, everything about our visit was perfect. We stopped by for a casual bite and ended up having one of the most memorable café experiences. The coffee was rich and smooth, and the food—absolutely delicious, made with fresh ingredients and real care. Every detail, from the presentation to the flavors, felt thoughtful and well-crafted. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Lola’s Café is definitely a place we’ll be coming back to. Whether you’re grabbing brunch, catching up with friends, or just looking for a peaceful spot to relax, this café hits all the right notes. Highly recommend
Delicious food at a reasonable price with great service! We got the tofu and blackberry panini and the short rib grilled cheese. Both were creative sandwiches that tasted really good, with toasty bread and tofu and beef that were just the right texture! The tofu was smooth and not crumbly. It’s blackened and definitely quite spicy. The short rib was braised or stewed, making it tender and flavorful. I appreciated the unique options of peanut noodles or salad as a complimentary side, and the peanut noodles and black bean and corn salad were both great. We’ve went here while visiting the Hudson Valley Rail Trail a couple times and I really recommend it (and the adjacent pizza place) as a lunch spot right off the trail. It’s a pretty small place with some good seats (including a small window-facing table), but it might be hard to find seating during busy times. Overall I was really impressed by the high quality of Lola’s Cafe and their menu of familiar dishes with a creative twist. I highly recommend visiting!
We tried this place for the first time and were we surprised!? A resounding YES! We thought this place would be mediocre and so-so, but learned that was NOT so. The burger was done to order and it was juicy and tasty. Every bite was full of flavor and the lettuce was crisp and the bun moist and fresh. The fries were a bit salty though. The chicken sandwich was cooked to perfection! It was not too spicy, but it was served hot. We truly enjoyed every single food that we ordered and we plan to visit them again soon. This place is worth the stop. Please give them a try if you like freshly prepared fast food that is served with a smile. The service was amazingly fast. You have to order your food and pay for it ( at the cashier) then it will be brought to you. The restaurant is clean and very neat.
The short rib grilled cheese is the tastiest sandwich that I have had in a long time. The short rib was fork tender and perfectly seasoned. The sourdough toast and tomato chutney brought out the flavor of the short rib. The side salad with creamy balsamic dressing was fresh, and it tasted so good. I am definitely coming back to Lola’s.
Okay, these ratings are taking into account that this fine little place is set up to accommodate people who are taking a break from Walkway Over the Hudson. It is an order and pay at the counter and your food will be brought to your table- place. With that in mind, the simple menu had lots of diverse, well made choices that we were all very happy with. It wasn’t too busy when we went in late afternoon and the workers there were friendly and conversational. Highly recommend the chile bowl and several items on the vegetarian option menu. Next time we hike over walkway over the Hudson we will definitely make this a regular stop.
Very busy and popular spot, seating is limited so be aware of popular times and the size of your group. Service was friendly and the food was fast. The short rib grilled cheese was excellent.
Lola Cafe is a gem for anyone seeking a quick, exotic bite. The food is fantastic, bursting with vibrant flavors and unique combinations that transport your taste buds to different parts of the world. The service is swift and friendly, making it an ideal spot for a delicious meal on the go. Whether you're craving something spicy, savory, or sweet, Lola Cafe has something to satisfy every palate. Highly recommended for those looking to spice up their dining routine!
