Mike's Diner Queens Reviews
Big plates!! Good mimosa, good attention :)
The best avgolemono soup (egg lemon soup) in all of New York!! No one else compares!! Highly recommend.
I was gonna write how Astoria food is competitive and blah blah blah but let’s cut to the chase. This food is GAS. Top tier, I used to love fast food, but now I fast just to order Michaels, because it just tastes even better. Seriously, look no further, you’re simply wasting your time
Maybe the best kept secret in Astoria. Food is amazing. Quality to great. Best value.
I woke up one day feeling like I was coming down with a cold. I ordered 32oz of the lemon orzo soup (avgolemono soup) and the next day I felt completely fine. I think the soup cured me! It was also truly EXCELLENT soup. It was really lemony, and really thick and creamy. I'm really, really picky about avgolemono soup and this is it.
Met our son up from NC for brunch at Michael's restaurant. Wonderful experience. I had a delicious crab meat omelette. Omelette was tender and delicious. Great service, very attentive and we weren't rushed out so we could catch up. I highly recommend Michael's restaurant if you're in Astoria and looking for a nice place to eat. We traveled from Eastern Long Island, about 50 miles, and it was well worth it.
Nice sized restaurant with comfortable booths. Service is top notch with friendly staff. Waitress constantly checks to see if anything is needed. They have specials for $29 which comes with soup or salad, choice of entree, potato, vegetable, dessert and coffee. Portions are very generous and reasonably priced. Grilled pork chops were delicious. Also filet of fish stuffed with crab meat was very tasty. If in Astoria would definitely recommend.
The waiters are absolutely amazing—always attentive, friendly, and incredibly fast. You never have to wait long, no matter how busy it gets. The food is top-notch, but the salads deserve a special mention. They are simply perfect—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every bite bursts with quality ingredients, making them a standout choice on the menu. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable. Whether you’re dining alone, with family, or with friends, you’ll feel right at home. Highly recommended!
First time at Michael's. Ordered grilled octopus dinner meal. It includes choice of potatoes, salad or soup, bread, coffee/tea and dessert for $29.95. I was in haven for an hour... the olive oil and vinegar combo was delicious and I still have left overs. Hubby ordered triple decker. It was good too! Highly recommended.
Classic Astoria old time restaurant. Absolutely the best. The servers are wonderful, with many of them having been here for years. This place is especially good on a winter night. The Reuben is SO good! And top off with apple pie a la mode. My favorite neighborhood restaurant in Astoria. I love it.
My sister and came in with a yen for breakfast at 3 in the afternoon. I got a delicious cheddar cheese omelette with fries and buttered toast. The omelette was delicious with a good.amount of cheese. My sister had pancakes with bacon. The bacon was crisp and.the pancakes fluffy. Our order came out quickly and the waitress was attentive, topping up our coffees.
Landed at LaGuardia just after midnight and needed something quick and dependable. Stopped by Michael’s around 1am and it delivered. Classic burger and fries were solid and hit the spot. No complaints. Open 24 hours, which is huge after a late flight.
We got a recommendation from a stranger that the absolute best mozzarella sticks he’s ever had is at Michael's Restaurant on Broadway. Yes, the mozzarella sticks specifically because the marinara sauce is very fresh and full of herbs, while the mozzarella sticks themselves are perfectly made and taste amazing. Not that I was out looking for the best mozzarella sticks, but he got me curious and I had to try it out for myself. These mozzarella sticks are thinner than your typical ones, so it feels and tastes crunchier. I think the mozzarella sticks are really good but the best part about this appetizer is the sauce. You could taste all the ingredients that it’s made of, the freshness of the herbs. I'm a tomato girl, so that’s why I’m a fan of the sauce. My husband said you could tell it's elevated mozzarella sticks based on the look itself. Quality gourmet mozzarella sticks and the marinara sauce just goes so well with it. We didn't know we’d be trying someone’s mozzarella sticks recommendation tonight haha thank you for the rec, Nick! We need to meet more kind strangers by the local halal cart.
lots of options on the menu with most sounding so good!! the nachos i ordered were not the same as what was pictured, but i’m glad my grandma enjoyed her meal
The lady that worked nights was very mean and service wasn’t good. We stayed late so I accidently left my book bag. The woman that worked got rid of my book bag. When I called for help, they rushed me off the phone and said call later. When I came to find it only a couple hours after the lost and call, the other workers weren’t helpful. It was a very strange experience.
this place is listed as a 24/7 restaurant. not quite. I showed up here at 2:45am because my favorite diner in Astoria closes at 2:00am, and I was told it’s to-go only at the moment.
Food was acceptable for a 24 hour diner, but nothing to write home about. Same with the atmosphere. The service was atrocious. Here's what my group of 7 experienced at Michael's Restaurant. 1. After we ordered, the waitress asked us to put the menus back ourselves instead of taking it from us. 2. They never refilled our water. We had to get the pitcher ourselves. 3. The receipts are handwritten and very difficult to decipher. 4. They charge a hidden 3.5% card fee that's never communicated. 5. They're unable to give an itemized receipt due to the age of their machine. 6. As a result, they miscalculated our bill and overcharged us by $10. When I asked them to cancel the credit card charge and redo the transaction, they said they couldn't do that. They tried to offer that us $10 credit the next time we visited, ignoring the fact that we also paid tax and tip on the increased subtotal. When I pushed back, they offered us $10 cash. Only after pressing even more did I get them to agree to cancelling the transaction and redoing it. 7. They didn't immediately try to remedy the issue. During the entire process of resolving the overcharge, the waitress kept saying, "it was an honest mistake." We would've believed her if she had immediately offered to redo the transaction, but I had to challenge her multiple times about not being able to undo a credit card transaction before she got the manager to do it. I will be monitoring my credit card transactions for the next few days to see if they actually cancelled the first charge. At this point, I wouldn't put it past them to keep both charges on my card hoping I don't notice.
Ordered an eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce came out curdled. I asked the waitress if this is how it’s supposed to be and she said yes. On the menu it says 14.95 and they charged me 15.95… Not only did they mess up a classic dish that any diner should be able to make, they tried to gaslight me and charged me extra
I went to Michael’s with a group of 8 friends around 3:30 AM, and I can honestly say it was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. As soon as we were seated, our waitress made it clear we weren’t welcome. She was shockingly rude, rolling her eyes at us any time we asked a question about the menu. Her responses were dismissive and short, usually just a blunt “we don’t have that,” with zero explanation or effort to be helpful. The attitude was so off-putting and disrespectful that we didn’t even stay to eat. Our entire group was so uncomfortable and grossed out by her behavior that we decided to walk out. For a place that’s open late and likely caters to larger groups and late-night diners, I expected at least the bare minimum of courtesy, not hostility. Really disappointing. I would never recommend this place based on how we were treated. Do better.
