The Western Rickmansworth Reviews
I came to the Western for work.. I was greeted by Claire the new owner and her son Jacob... Fantastic people. The Western is quite amazing... A massive TV and lots of other TVs in the main bar for showing sporting events. A peaceful secluded beer garden, plenty of tables and booths for outside drinking / dining and multiple tvs so you don't miss the all important sporting events. This pub is lovely and clean throughout.... as I always say, I go to places the public can't go when at work... Hygiene is very high on Claire's agenda and the kitchen (as shown in photos) is spotless and there is great attention to detail going into food being served. Sporting memorabilia and photos ordain the walls and TVs can been seen wherever you sit. This looks like a great venue whatever the occasion.... 😎
Came to Rickmansworth for Christmas, and of course had to have a drink in The Western - how nice to be immediately recognized and welcomed by the staff, after a couple of months! What a transformation from the old Druid pub, which was becoming extremely rundown. The whole inside has been totally changed, imaginative and stylish. Large screens for watching sports when they are on, with plenty of space. Food and drinks were excellent, and prices seemed reasonable. As we live abroad, we visit family in Rickmansworth several times a year, and certainly The Western Sports & Social will be on our placed to visit, would highly recommend this pub.
Highly recommended Best restaurant in Rickmansworth with excellent in house chef. Fabulous menu with amazing variety. Good selection of drinks and cocktails
Nice pub little bit out of the way but we'll worth a visit. I had a J2O
Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and the manager/owner(?). Kids were allowed to stay for late football game, overall great pub!
Been coming here on and off for a couple of years and i have to admit after a bit of a dip last year we are back to the excellent experience i have come to be used to here . Since the new management, the food is back to awesome and the entertainment is coming back in a full swing ! one thing that has not changed is the excellent service received by the friendliest staff you could possible imagine . Thank you for tolerating me here almost every weekend , can not wait for what’s yet to come !
“Service here is incredible, a lovely place to come down for some food and drinks highly recommend”
Always a good vibe in here. Friendly staff reasonably priced beers
I came on Friday evening for food, drinks and dancing with friends. Bartender Trudi was amazing, professional and friendly and made great recommendations on food and drinks we had a great night x
Lovely nicely decorated very clean pub friendly staff and Manager very attentive menu and food excellent….. 3 bowls ladies 😀
Great place for lunch and dinner we had chicken tikka masala plater and crab and prawn linguine that was super delicious nice potion and presentation absolutely professional . Friendly staff and good service . Food absolutely 💯 thanks for the chef . We will definitely come back .
Lovely expressio martinis and great prices! Jacob was especially friendly and was very chatty 😊 valuable member of the team! Will be returning soon. Thanks very much 👍
Amazing venue, attentive staff, all the major sports channels, fantastic food!
Lovely pub and a brilliant atmosphere was served by an incredible staff member. Do advise heading down there… fantastic for sports and drinks with mates
Popped in on a random child free evening with my wife, and we're so glad we did. Andy, the landlord, was an amazing host. Great drink selection was reasonably priced, and the food and atmosphere was amazing. Even though we're half an hour away from the pub, I will 100% be returning, be it with the family, another child free evening with my wife or with my mates.
We came here Saturday evening - our first time. We had a lovely evening. We met the lovely new owners Claire & Gary… They couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly! The food was delicious and the live music was fantastic. Well worth the journey and we will definitely be returning in the near future. A super find.
Loved this place. Staff couldn't do enough and were really friendly. Gary the boss is a top fella. Singer and guitarist were brilliant. Next time we play Watford we'll definitely be having another night in The Western.
I spontaneously decided to go to The Western for my birthday and was amazed by the service from Dan and Andrei. I was given a free slice of cake by Jacob and amazing cocktails by Andrei! Absolutely love the current deal they have on cocktails, will definitely be back and bringing along more friends :)
Was in the Western today and I had a lovely lunch, the food is really good they have got it right. The service was spectacular will defined be back
First time visiting and Jacob was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The kitchen was closed when I went which was on a Tuesday but he still managed to get me a dish of Mac&Cheese. Very good customer service, looking forward to revisiting next time in the area.
Incredible pub! Absolutely lovely staff, great food, and a smashing patio. With heaters!! The food is reasonably priced, the drinks too. A special shout-out to Jacob for being a stand out guy.
Knowing that it was a matchday for the football I thought why not go to a sport bar to enjoy the game, when I got to “the western” the atmosphere was good and a lot of people attended. The service from a “blonde woman” at the bar was sublime and quick; I got seated straight away, when ordered drinks she was always available to serve and delivered great customer service. The whole team just seemed on Par with one another. Would recommend
Great staff with good beer selection, loads of TVs if you're there to watch sport. Was a bit too cold for the outside area when I went but will definitely be going back when it's warmer to try that as well
Great local boozer and with plenty of screens the best place to go to watch sports. Good pub food as well.
Great pub. Staff were very sweet and just a great overall experience.
Food is really good, except for the soup would recommend fish n chips and butter chicken croquettes are on a different level !!!
What a lovely pub! Great food, drinks and atmosphere and very friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. Will be back!
Great experience, the food is on point. Really good atmosphere, sports on every screen. The staff are brilliant, the assistant manager , Amelia was accommodating and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will be back!
Really had a good time. Football was great over the weekend and the staff were really helpful with a disabled friend. Food was great and atmosphere was welcoming. Totally recommend 👌
Good pub. Food is reasonable. Frendly staff. Lots of seating and TV screens. Wide variety of sports available to watch. One downside is the last few visits the real ales were not in stock.
Although packed, the service was quick. They should have bigger screens/projectors throughout the pub.
Great pub for sport, lots of TVs and variety played throughout the pub. The service was good and prices reasonable or as can be expected, around £5 a pint. There is around 10 car spaces at the pub but there are other local car parks close by.
Ignore the oddball Gulf War / damp changing room rubbish - it's a quality genuine local, a local with a strong rugby & cricket identity. Not a yobbish footie pub, it's a good, friendly and happy drinking & sports pub. Just needs better choice of food!
We went for lunch on a Friday, it wasn't particularly busy. The decor is nice, the food and service were good. Would definitely return. Lots of screens to watch sport too.
Off the main street in Ricky. Comfortable seating. 5 or 6 TVs. Good choice of food 3 mains £38. Very clean upstairs novelty urinals, beer barrels.
Great sports pub, really been done up nicely since it was Druids - unrecognisable. Haven’t eaten there, but a great place to go for drinks and sport
Friendly staff and decent food, with a decent selection of ale and craft beer, and several screens for the football including outside. A few missing drinks options due to Covid etc but nice place
Nice pub, seats at bar make it difficult to get served when busy. Glad most of the 'iron cage' has been removed. Live sports and events. Ok priced drinks.
Great sports pub, TV’s everywhere, volume👍😁 👍 Food is great but week nights they stop serving at 8pm. There was at least 10 people that would have ordered food between 8pm- 8.30 that I was aware of on the big match night I attended. If we all arrive at 7.30 so we can eat then it will have a knock on effect with us all waiting a long time 😡 for those of us that work and want to come out slightly later it would be fantastic to serve until 9pm on big match nights👍
Stopped in for a drink after a walk around the nearby lakes. Stayed for four! It was quiet as it was lunchtime on the Saturday of the Platinum Jubilee. I suspect it'd be a lot busier if a big sporting event was being shown on the TV wall. The barman was really friendly as were the other guests that were in. Definitely go again when I'm in the area, oh and they have Timothy Taylors on tap!
Had our late Christmas staff evening, nice food, nice drinks.
This pub is very much a sports bar. At the time of my visit there was Doombar and no other ale available. The wall of television screens seems difficult to avoid in the main bar. There is a secluded seating area at the back, appropriately complete with a large screen. I confess I have not tried the food.
Friday night and only one beer available. Too few seats and single jackets over a chair at a table for 8 to signify it's reserved while the jacket owner either plays pool or chats at the bar always annoys. Lots of screens. Usually a hardcore rugby pub but it was set up for football when we were there.
Lovely staff. Good atmosphere. Food just okay. Felt very rushed as the kitchen closes a bit early for a Saturday night. Main course was served while we were eating starters. Same again, Dessert got parked and went cold while we were having mains! 2nd time. Only popped in for a drink and watch football. Good atmosphere. 3rd time. Great atmosphere for England World Cup game.
Don't know why I bothered. Booked in person Friday, got email confirmation, walk in for the game and get shouted at. "we don't do bookings anymore"! So called sports pub playing music instead of having the sound from the football on the TVs and no ales on tap FFS. Thought I'd try and support a local business even though this game is free of terrestrial TV and their kitchen is always closed, but at half time I'm off to the Coach and Horses instead.
It's a good sports bar and nice new decor but the food taste like cardboard. Me and my partner had cod and chips. The batter on the fish was soggy and the fish was dry. Chips didn't taste like anything somehow best part of the meal was the garden peas! Sort out your food guys and you could be a brilliant gastro pub.
As pubs reopened I went back to my routine and decided to grab some food on a Sunday evenings and I had a good experience last time I came so I decided to come back and the experience was awful !! If I could give 0 star I would have.... I asked for a table for 1 and if they were serving food, the first server told me to grab any free table and that kitchen was open, fantastic news!! and got the drink straight away! I lost sight of the member of staff that seated me, however, after about 20min I tried to get the attention from a different server, he told me to hold on for a minute because he was sorting something out, he then seated another table, ordered and served drink to them while I was still waiting for him to come back to my table... 10 more minutes went by and a third server came up to me apologising and asked me to move in a different table as she had to seat someone else, at that stage I asked for the bill so I could go elsewhere as I waited over 30min by then. She asked me to reach a booth at the back (witch she could have seated the other guests) so that she could seat them as well, then came over and told me that a manager will be with me shortly....I do not like to complain and it wasn't going to be a big deal as I work in the same industry and the staff seemed for some reason overwhelmed, pointless to say that after I paid for my beer, and waited another couple of minutes, the manager never came over and I left, and only at this point, I decided to give my feedback! Got home and ordered an Uber, another episode of table for 1 treated like it does not count ! Shame as I was looking forward to make this one my regular pubs, got to try other options now.
We arrive at 11 and their opening hours are until 12. We were told this is not the case and we were not to be served by a rude member of staff. Please avoid this pub as there are much better pubs in Rickmansworth I’d recommend that are actually nice to customers such as the fox and hounds (only 1 min away from the dive that is the western) as well as the feathers and the coach and horses. Avoid the western at all costs.
They serve only their regular customers. If you are new in the pub you gonna be served the last and in a rude way. I mentioned that barmen is serving customer that was last in the queue and there were two people before him, but I was named rude and asked to leave the pub. Its insane! Avoid this place!
On a fairly quiet Saturday night I ordered chicken skewers and chicken strips. I waited 1h 10 mins and had to get a refund. I try to be patient but that chef needs to find a new career
