Carnegie Cellars Rochester Reviews
Great date night spot! Pretty reasonable prices compared to similar places, and the menu structure is designed to share everything. I have tried many burgers in Rochester, and this one was interesting! Very strong pickle flavor (which is great if you're like me and like pickles!). I wouldn't rank it above any of my top burgers in the city, but I would order it again. Our other food was great. Fries came out very hot which is essential. The wine selection is good if you're like me and you like dry wines. Phillip (sorry if spelled incorrectly) was our server and he was fantastic!
Carnegie never fails to disappoint! Food is always fresh, atmosphere is amazing, and the staff are the best in town. Chose them for Valentine’s day this year and you wouldn’t have guessed it was a holiday from how calm and smooth everything was. Can’t go wrong with Carnegie and we will definitely be back!
HIGHLY recommend! Service food and drinks were outstanding. The chicken cutlet is my favorite I come back for it every time. The dry white wine flight was delicious i loved all 3! My favorite spot in town.
This place is so awesome! Staff is so friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. Such a comfortable atmosphere with a great wine selection and wonderful food! It’s a must every time I’m in town! The wine flights and dessert are 🙌
First time here at the suggestion of a post on reddit. Dining on our anniversary. Wonderful experience from the moment we were greeted until we left. Our server Phillip was knowledgeable, attentive and funny. We started with a bottle of Henri Champliau Cremant de Bourgogne, which was superb. We shared the Flour City Bread, Butternut Squash Ravioli, Spätzle & Cheese, and Chicken Cutlet. Each dish was more impressive than the last. Can't wait to go back!
Went to Carnegie Cellars Wine Bar & Kitchen for dinner before a show at the Auditorium. The place was cozy, sophisticated but comfortable, and we were greeted right away and welcomed. The food was absolutely delicious but our dinners came out at different times. The menu states the food arrives as ready, my husbands chicken cutlet was perfect and my steak frites came about 10 minutes later but was “melt in your mouth” delicious! The service was attentive but not intrusive and we felt no rush. A great place that we will be going to again later this month and bringing friends!
Let's Eat! The most incredible gluten-free selections on a menu I've ever encountered! Y'all know how hard I struggle to eat when dining out, & Carnegie Cellers made my foodie dreams come true. I was able to indulge in three courses with drinks and feel completely liberated. This restaurant is truly transcendent, My husband and son thoroughly reveled in their dinner too! If you're ever in Rochester, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit! Lamb Spare Ribs with arugula vinaigrette slaw GF Veggie Chow-main Charcuterie Board with GF flat bread and regular bread. Burger GF Fries Lots of delicious wines.
This is our first visit to Carnegie Cellars, and it won't be our last. We were able to get a seat outside without reservations. The service was knowledgeable and efficient. They recommended a good Spanish wine after listening to our preferences. The menu had a wide variety of vegetarian choices. All 7 were delicious with lots of flavor. The Dan Dan Noodles with tofu "meat" sauce were especially good. I'll get extra to go next time if I can't get the recipe! Thank you for a lovely evening.
Went on 8/26/25 with a group of 5 for wine and snacks; my first time here. The service was excellent as was the food. All who ordered wine were happy with their respective selections. We shared the following snacks which we passed around until nothing was left: Flour City Bread, Hummus, Fries, Stone Fruit Salad, Farm Lettuce Salad, and Dan Dan Noodles. I'm looking forward to going back.
Great little place right across from Village Gate and steps away from the Memorial Art Gallery. The wine selection is excellent and staff extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed a couple glasses of recommended white wine and a small delicious appetizer of roasted zucchini with goat cheese and blueberries. That was well crafted and presented nicely. Highly recommended and we will be back.
A Royal Evening at Carnegie Cellars: The Best Dining Experience We’ve Ever Had Every time we’ve visited Carnegie Cellars, we’ve left feeling special — but during a recent visit to celebrate a career milestone for my husband, we were truly treated like royalty. This wasn’t just a meal — it was a celebration of care, attention, and joy, orchestrated by a team that clearly loves what they do. The food, as always, was exceptional. Each dish was perfectly prepared, and the wine pairings — expertly recommended by the incredibly knowledgeable staff — introduced us to varietals and vineyards we’d never discovered before. We’ve made some of our favorite wine discoveries thanks to their thoughtful guidance. But what made this evening unforgettable were the people: Aime, Erica, Mike (the owner), Lauren, Phil, and Chef — each played a role in creating a night we’ll treasure forever. From the complimentary champagne toast to the celebratory table flower, to the countless small touches that made us feel seen and appreciated, every detail was infused with warmth and joy. What stands out most is the atmosphere of genuine fun and camaraderie among the staff. That joy is contagious. When the team is having a good time, you feel it as a guest. It’s the kind of place where hospitality isn’t just a job — it’s a shared experience, and you’re invited into it. My husband and I both have experience in hospitality and dining, so we don’t say this lightly: this is the best restaurant staff we’ve ever encountered. We’ve always been impressed — even when we haven’t visited in a while, they remember us. But our most recent visit set a new bar for what hospitality can be. Carnegie Cellars is a gem. We’re so grateful for the memories, the care, and the joy. We can’t wait to return.
Excellent service, great selection of wine (the flights were a wonderful element), and tasty food. As a main dish I had the saffron spaghetti with squid, pomodoro, calabrian chilies, and basil — so good! The cardamom honey, whipped ricotta and lemon with Flour City bread was also pristine. Will definitely be back.
I can’t say enough about Carnegie Cellars. The food is fabulous, the atmosphere is sleek & modern. We celebrated an anniversary and were greeted with a delicious sparkling beverage and enjoyed an anniversary dessert, compliments of the house. Parking is on street or in nearby lots. The service is prompt and attentive without being obtrusive. Our server, Jack, was extremely friendly and easy to engage in casual conversation. He’s well on his way to upward mobility. As an oenophile, the wine list is impressive. Mike, the owner, was gracious and welcoming. Thanks Mike for the wine tip. When the weather moderates we’ll be back to enjoy outdoor dining. Our 3rd trip to Carnegie in about a month. We can’t seem to get enough. The staff is incredibly warm & welcoming. Sorry we missed you Mike. Next time.
I loved my first visit to Carnegie Cellars! I thought the whole vibe of the place was so unique and cozy. My wine flight cost $16 and featured various sparkling wines that were just delectable! The charcuterie board was the real star of the show. At $34, this board featured various meats, spreads, fresh Concord grapes, and so much more. Our service was exceptional; three separate servers were checking in with us to make sure our visit was perfect. Will be back very soon!
I was really impressed with every aspect of Carnegie Cellars! We were part of the pre-RBTL theater crowd and even though they were busy, the staff was attentive and we never felt rushed. The food was phenomenal! We loved every dish and can't wait to go back to try other items. (I could eat the Flour City Bread for the rest of my life.) I like wine, but I'm not too knowledgeable about it - our server easily guided us to some really great glasses without it feeling stuffy or pretentious. The vibe in there is very chill. Will definitely be back.
Every visit to Carnegie is better than the last! The wine list is fantastic, a huge selection from so many different regions. The staff is amazing, super knowledgeable and always with the best recs! The food is absolutely insane. The menu changes frequently and everything we’ve had here is delicious. The ingredients are fresh and creative, we’re always excited to come back! The atmosphere is beautiful, the view of the MAG is great, and the outdoor seating is a must in the summer months. Everyone is super welcoming as well!
First time visiting and we had a fabulous time! Mike greeted us as we entered and explained the gorgeous chandelier and showed us to our seats at the bar. Taylor provided excellent service and recommendations. I had the Bubbles flight and Bruce enjoyed the Goodman flight. The food was delicious! Definitely recommend the crispy chicken sandwich - spicy, fresh, and tasty! We finished with Port and some chocolates. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. Beautiful decor; great conversations, personalities & service. Kitchen was on point. Perfect spot to enjoy fine wine and food with friends. Kudos to Mike and the team. Looking forward to our next visit!
There’s nothing quite as bad as finding out a reliably high-quality restaurant has gone downhill. I was super disappointed with the soggy, fast food-like burger and the menu failing to warn you you’re most likely getting a snack, not a meal... Carnegie is now off my list, unfortunately. I hope they change things around - used to be outstanding.
