Lovin Cup Rochester Reviews
Absolute yum. Had the iced caramel coffee, it tastes like nothing I’ve ever had before. Had the fried pickles, the grain bowl and the Cuban sandwich. Atmosphere is unique and had great service all times I’ve been there. Will go back when I am back in town!
Always delicious food with great servers. We haven't had the opportunity to hear live music yet, but the patio is our favorite spot to dine when weather allows.
Had brunch at Lovin' cup today for the first time and it was awesome! Brunch menu is creative just as their regular lunch and dinner menus are. Food was delicious and the service as always is above and beyond. Their potato pancakes are fabulous. I had their variation of a "garbage plate" for breakfast and loved it.
I love the cup and it always feels like home. I have been going there since it's opening and it gets better every time. Leslie and Eric are like family to me and they do a great job. The Cuban is one of my favorite meals and the soup of the day is always great. My fondest memories are dancing all night and closing the place down. I highly recommend.
Always great food, coffee, tea, wine, beer here! Wide menu, but not so big that you're overwhelmed. Friendly, consistent staff and cool environment (the wine rack is awesome!). Can get a bit loud in the evenings, but don't let that stop you from checking it out.
Great food, great beer, great people, great music. One of my favorite places to eat in Henrietta if not all of Rochester!
I've been coming here for years and have yet to have a bad meal. My wife loves the burgers and the Flank Zappa salad, my son loves their wings, and I'm addicted to their "Back to Black" - the best blackened chicken sandwich I've ever had - and their sweet potato waffle fries which are served with a jalapeno honey mustard that justifies the existence of sweet potato fries. Beyond that, it's a great place to see a show - their sound setup is among the best in the Rochester area. Can't recommend them enough.
3rd time there for a private event. Always a great time.
Sat outside on a warm evening. Hostess and waitress were very friendly. Food was very good, Prices not bad, but maybe a little above average. Live band playing inside (too loud to have a conversation at a table). Parking is OK, a little confusing when entering and the entrance to the establishment itself was in an unintuitive spot. It's been a popular spot since it was built.
I’ve spent many evenings at Lovin’ Cup and it never disappoints. Really unique atmosphere, live music, great menu, friendly staff, and delicious food. Great outdoor seating, ample parking, and lots of space to hang out right outside on RITs campus (without feeling like you’re on campus). This place is great for coffee and brunches too!
It's been a few years since I've been to Lovin' cup. I always liked going there and I was surprised by their menu update. Some awesome choices, made it tough to choose what to get. Plenty of tasty and healthy options. Great beer selection. Also very intimate venue for live music. They also have expanded so if don't want to be part of the show you can go to the other half.
Love this place. The whole menu is good. Bar had good selection on tap, staff is very nice. I'm there every week for trivia. Still would recommend after years off coming here.
Friday & Saturday nights have the best music! Great sound system, delicious food and drinks, plus a perfect location for awesome bands and satisfying chicken wings, burgers, salads, big bowls of soup with veggies & ramen noodles, huge hot & cold sandwiches, the best Reubens, big mugs of coffee and nice desserts. Come visit soon!
Lovin Cup has never disappointed. I have enjoyed good meals and drinks there over the years as well as live entertainment. Last night was no exception when we attended open mic night. Looking forward to going again.
The live band was nice. Service was great considering it was Friday evening after work, there was a private party and the place was bustling. Food was very tasty, and it was hot. I loved the sauces that came withtheFrench fries and pretzels. As it quieted down, it was easier to see this quaint location located near a couple of apartment complexes. This place has a different atmosphere during warmer weather. It's definitely worth checking it out if you've never been. Sorry I didn't take pictures for this place.
Truly a gem. The food was delicious. There were butternut squash and pumpkin ravioli. 10/10 would recommend. Also the Sweet Jane sweet potato waffle fries. The food was SO good. The service, splendid. I look forward to coming here again.
Great food, service, and atmosphere. I went there for an end-of-year celebration and casual networking event. There were two other groups celebrating that day. We ordered some entrees like the buffalo wings, sweet potato fries, nachos, pretzels with cheese, and cauliflower. I even took some home for later. There's a live stage right next to our seats and I heard great things about it. The atmosphere was vibrant and our waitress was very attentive and welcoming.
The staff is extremely friendly and we enjoy hosting our annual fundraising event here with them. Food is always fantastic. We always look forward to the great food and live music.
5 years on and this place is better than ever. Friendly, inviting staff will make your visit enjoyable! Great beer on tap. Large patio overlooking the lawns at Park point. Welcoming wait staff and excellent food. The best entertainment. Henrietta is lucky to have this gathering spot.
1st time visiting this cool bar/restaurant. Celebrated a friend's birthday and the food and service were great. Great live jazz in the spacious bar area. Out front of the Rochester Institute of Technology campus. Good spot!! Lots of outdoor seating as well....
Great food and a wonderful staff. I'm wondering if many are aware of the meat sauce they serve and sell. It's very spicy and my favorite meat sauce locally. However I perched a bottle the other day and I believe they changed the recipe? No spicy kick anymore? Also had it with my dinner and no kick. It wasn't until the next day when I opened the bottle and realized it also had no spicy kick to it. Please tell me this is a fluke.
First time experience at this establishment. Booked tickets for a national show event that was sold out. Called the day before the event because I thought it was first come, first serve. They kindly suggested reservations and placed us at a front row table - WOW! Anne, our waitress, was wonderful in making suggestions and keeping us attended to for the whole evening. Good all around experience. Was a little pricier than anticipated but overall a good night.
I was here for a meeting on a Thursday, and that was my first. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and decent food. Anya and Adam are amazing. Suggestion for improvement: On Salsa nights, it is important to let guests be aware ahead of time they will pay a certain amount from the time Salsa lessons/event commences, even if they had been in the establishment before the commencement time. While I think that creates an unpleasant customer experience, it does provide your clients the option to decide if they want to be a part of the event or not. Having your guests get embarrassed or hassled for a fee, when they have not been made aware of such arrangement is inappropriate. In my opinion, the fee is reasonable, but hassling guests that are sat before the event, and aren't aware of such requirement, is unacceptable and unprofessional. Communication is key. Overall, good experience, but I strongly recommend this is looked into.
The food is great. I love that I can get a hot cup of Quality tea with my meal. The atmosphere is very chill and enjoyable. Sit at the bar, or take a table inside or out. There's no bad place to sit. It all has a welcoming feel.
Happy to dine/drink and support local music! Service was mostly good, very courteous servers but our first round of drinks were slow. We weren't wow'd by the pretzel app, but our mains (Buffalo sandwich and steak salad) were great. Enjoyed the extensive beer menu, and we'll certainly keep coming back.
A Delightful Dining Experience at Lovin' Cup My recent visit to Lovin' Cup left me thoroughly impressed and eager to return. From start to finish, every aspect of my dining experience was top-notch, earning this establishment my highest recommendation. First and foremost, I was greeted by an attentive waitress who went above and beyond to ensure my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. Her knowledge of the menu, coupled with her friendly demeanor, immediately set the tone for a memorable evening. Service at Lovin' Cup was prompt and efficient, with my orders delivered in a timely manner without feeling rushed. It was evident that the staff takes pride in providing attentive service without sacrificing quality. Now, onto the star of the show: the food. Each dish I sampled was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. From savory appetizers to mouthwatering entrees, every bite was a delight to the taste buds. The menu offers a diverse selection of options to suit every palate, and I can't wait to return and sample more of their offerings. What truly sets Lovin' Cup apart is their commitment to delivering a memorable dining experience. The attention to detail in both the food and service is commendable and speaks volumes about the dedication of the staff. In conclusion, Lovin' Cup exceeded my expectations in every way possible. From the attentive service to the delicious food, it's clear that this establishment takes pride in providing an exceptional dining experience. I look forward to my next visit and eagerly anticipate the opportunity to explore more of their enticing menu offerings.
Went to this place to see a local band, the Moho Collective. The atmosphere is terrific for watching a show like this. They have a full menu and it is a relaxed atmosphere. The food is terrific and consistent but not all chef prepared hence the 4 stars. The wait staff is terrific and you can get table or bar service here. Plenty of parking as this place is rather off the beaten path it seems. Be sure to check out their events page to catch a cool show and some good food.
Always a good time coming here! My go to lunch item is the hot for teacher sandwich! Gotta also get the frizzle sauce to dip your fries in. The last time I was in, I asked if I could split a dessert with my friend, and they came out with the dessert cut in half in the form of Pac-Man. Seriously love little things like this!
Ordered "The Flank Zappa" today...OMG...absolutely AMAZING! I have plastic utensils at work and the steak was so tender I could cut it with a plastic knife! Blue cheese was super fresh and the balsamic vinaigrette brought it together perfectly! Was so good, forgot to take a picture...but I think the empty container is just as effective! Thank you!!!
Love this place and have to visit/eat here more often. Bartenders are always nice and on top of things. Went to the 12 Days of Beers last night for the first time, and it was epic! Lots of amazing people serving beer, and the food is out of this world amazing. Can’t wait to come back for a meal with family members who have never been!!
Excellent small and comfortable venue to hear live music. Great friendly staff.
Mr. HEARTACHE was amazing! True Americana, Country and a little Beach music. They sounded so good, everyone was toe tappin' and singing along. The service and food were also a big hit. We'll be back!
I love this place. Friendly and fast service. More importantly, great menu: works for a huge variety of tastes including all six people in my family. There’s classic bar food like burgers and fries. But also great healthy options like rice, veggie, and noodle bowls. Vegetarian friendly, too. And the offerings are all thoughtful and unique. Plus, a great vibe. We are from out of town and make a point of stopping here any time we are in Rochester.
Haven't been in years, but went in for a work lunch and was pleasantly surprised. We were seated in a separate room in the back and I really enjoyed the decor and just the whole atmosphere of the Cafe. Only reason food is 4/5 is because my fries were cold, and a few other people were missing sides, dipping sauces, but nothing major and it was a large party so it's understandable. Staff was super friendly and they went above and beyond for everyone. I'll definitely be back, outside of work. :)
One of my favorite places! Super cute interior, friendly staff and the food is excellent every time
Cute place! I went for a private event. The staff was nice. Love the decor! It's edgy and fabulous! The food was great!
This was a great find. Hidden in amongst the RIT housing, there is plenty of parking, they have live music, and a wonderful variety on their menu. The cracker crusted chicken was amazing!
I came out for a show this past Friday and can’t say enough good things about this venue. The hostess was quick to get me a seat even though it was a full house, and the food and bar service was spot on. My meal came out very quickly and everything tasted fresh and the quantity and quality of the food was great. During the show when the bar was quite busy Anya and the staff were very attentive and quick to offer top notch service. Aside from from that, the entire staff was very courteous, the quality of sound for the show was great ( you can tell they take their music very seriously here) and I met so many friendly people that night. I would highly recommend this place.
I really enjoy eating here. The food is amazing and there is generally something interesting being hosted by the venue. It is a fantastic place.
Such a fun local place! Love supporting local business and this one always satisfies. Great staff, not too overbearing but friendly and attentive. Food is always great, my favorite is the turkey panini and I love their chipotle sauce. Never had a bad meal there! Seen a couple of great shows, it’s an awesome small venue for live music. Lattes are great as well!
LOVE THIS PLACE!! Went for open mic night and it was packed. Olivia was bartending, serving and hosting, but still took such amazing care of us. truly such a sweet heart along with the rest of the staff. this spot is a real gem
Loved this place! The cold noodle bowl, the wine list, the super friendly people. We will be back next time we are in the area.
I invited my grandson for lunch who just started his freshman year at RIT. The food was awesome and the service was great. This was our first visit but it certainly won’t be our last.
Hosted a luncheon for about 40 people. Everything was set up in a side area, separate from the main dining area. Olivia, the special events coordinator, was lovely to work with, and the staff was all very helpful and attentive the day of the luncheon. Food was great, all set up and ready to go when guests arrived. Really pleased with the whole experience!
It's a trendy bar and bistro with a good selection and nice specials. The burgers are large and flavorful; the fries are okay. I had a tasty lemon pepper chicken soup, which was delicious and a good portion. Prices are fair and the atmosphere is good. Definitely give this place a try!
I went there on a Wednesday evening without any live entertainment or anything so I can't speak of how it gets packed in on those days. But on a normal non-busy day, the wait staff was fantastic. The food was okay. The prices were a bit much for the serving size. Drinks were expensive as well. Overall it was a good experience, but I wish it was just better on the wallet for what you're getting.
Ordered trash talking (version of a garbage plate) and would implore anyone to get the meat sauce on the side. It had too much chili powder. Overall, always a nice place to catch some live music.
Not sure why everyone is hating on the food--every time I've eaten here I've been more then satisfied. Fun items and yummy, local ingredients (great bread!). Coffees are delicious and strong. I will agree that it is mildly pricey, but it's nothing outrageous. And I have had one experience with an unattentive server, but usually they are fun and friendly. Give it a shot :)
Lovin' Cup has great food and is very conveniently placed for RIT students. It can get a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. The only problem is that all the events they do make the dining room too loud to hear yourself think. There is outdoor seating, but that's only good for the warm months. If you like live music or trivia nights you should definitely check this place out. If you're looking for a quiet spot to eat, consider somewhere else.
Nice music venue with good beer selection. Not so impressed with the food. I've been to Lovin' Cup a few times over the years for various gigs. It's a little out of the way, but this is Rochester, so nowhere is that far away. Seating is at bar tables (mix of low and high) and I've always been impressed with the sound. Depending on the layout of the tables, there isn't a lot of room for dancing (which probably isn't an issue for a lot of bands). They have an impressive mix of craft beers on draught and in cans/bottles. I'm less impressed with the food (the boneless wings were notably mediocre - a big deal this close to Buffalo with so many places serving excellent wings) and would give them only 3 stars if I was rating them solely for the food.
Nothing bad. Good all around visit.
Really enjoyed the environment, and though I can’t speak for the other food, if you’re vegan, there are very few options. Even the fries are made with animal fat. The veggie burger (ordered without cheese) was mushy and inedible, served with lettuce and an underripe tomato slice, and the side salad didn’t appear to be fresh. The staff looked overwhelmed, and the service was slow. But again, nice atmosphere, great space.
The food was fine, but they were out of multiple things we ordered. It was trivia night, and it was loud enough to make it tough to have a conversation but at the same time not quite be able to hear the trivia questions. (We weren't playing.) So that was distracting.
Love the live music here, always super class talents. Food is excellent, generous portions. Even has many vegetarian meals, even tofu to add. Wine pours are generous. Staff is great. Loved the Billy Joel Experience band, however they started late and ended early, which was unfortunate, because they were excellent and tickets were$ 25.00 each. If it's advertised for 2 hrs, they should play that long. Overall wonderful experience!
The food is pretty good. It's very loud there even when there's no band. If you're going to see a band then it's a reasonable place to go and get decent food and drinks. I like that they offer his coffee drinks too
This is more of a 2.5 stars rather than 3 but it doesn't let you rate on a .5 scale. I've been here many times while being at RIT especially being forced to stay at park point for housing (gotta love the student housing crisis). The one really good experience I've had was my first time there with friends for a trivia night 4 years ago. That's the thing about this place though, if you're not coming with friends and aren't prepared to stay an extended period of time due to slowish service/long cook times for stuff that should be quick i.e. paninis then I don't reccomend it very much. It's a decent resturant (all be it over priced even before corona virus service increases) but the service is slow at best. I don't necessarily blame the wait staff as much because it always seems they are short staffed, especially during events. Also another note about events is the fact that if you want to show up and eat when there's an outdoor concert you need to pay even if you're not watching it. If there is indoor music on the stage in lovin cup you need to pay to get in even if you don't intend on watching it or risk getting seated outside in windy/cooler weather and have a hard time eating comfortably. A note about COVID-19 and service after the reopening. The first few weeks after opening again when corona virus restrictions were lifted me and a roommate decided to go check out the outdoor dining area they had set up. Hostess was rude and not much help. We were told to download an app to order and pre pay and were even told straight up it wouldn't scan the QR code or let us order and they've been having difficulty with the app. The app made you place in your email, phone number, and have location on just to order. We found that off-putting but decided to go ahead and try it anyways, after both of us on different phone carriers tried and tried to order hostess came over annoyed we did not place an order yet. We explained that indeed the app did not work and were told to just order inside and get take out, once food was ready we left. I haven't been back since and genuinely have been put off from returning again. I am curious to see if things are being handled better but am hesitant about going again. My "too long didn't read" take away from this review is that if you're going, go with friends for an early lunch when no live music or event is going on. If you go alone be prepared to wait on slow service feeling awkward and annoyed with wait times, and if you go during an event expect to pay and receive slower service.
Wasn't really a packed night, yet took forever for us to get seated. The menu's were sheets of different papers held together by a clip board. My friends and I kept complaining about how loud the music was and we're college students. The food was expensive and getting the checks took forever. The music was cool though and the food was good.
Food is delicious but greatly overpriced, nothing under $15. Open mic is fun! If you want to sign up get there early; they will let 'regulars' take spots earlier in the lineup even if they don't sign-up.
We paid $15 each to get into the restaurant to sit at the bar and have dinner. and hear maybe 4 songs from a band then they ended. Why?… the food was fine though. I’m sorry I’m not accustomed to paying a cover charge when I’m going out to buy dinner and drinks. This is not a kids beer joint!
Food quality seems to have gone downhill since the last time I ate here. Pretzel appetizer came out fast because it was microwaved. Cuban sandwich was also piping hot just out of the microwave. Cobb salad was just ok.
The doorman Pedro was abonoxous with his approach for collecting money. I was a first tone visitor at 6:30pm no idea there was Band. Pedro made it clear you either leave by 7:30 or pay $10. I was taken back by his demand as I did not know it was a band playing. He stared us down until 7:27pm when he came to collect the money. I was uncomfortable and disturbed by this approach. It was off putting and I would.not recommend anyone go unknowingly. The food was fresh but mediocre. Our waitress was pleasant and the band Blue was outstanding...soulful touch. I am on the fence on coming back tbd. I would suggest the doorman is trained in customer service.
We have always been a huge fan of Lovin Cup. We went on Friday and I have to say our experience was disappointing. First, we were not allowed to sit inside due to some sort of event. The host was pretty rude when I inquired. It would have been nice if he explained the reason for sitting outside. Luckily it was a warmer evening, but if it had not been and we were not prepared, we would have left. The wine selection was pitiful. Every wine we ordered was sold out. It took 5 tries before one was available. I had to ask 4 times for napkins, before I just went inside and grabbed them myself. Service was slow and seem very disorganized. I guess if we decide to try it again, we will have to verify if there is an event going on. If so, we will not be dining.
The food has been terrible every time I've been here; I don't know if I got unlucky or something. Burger tasted like a wet sponge. Service is great, venue is hit or miss — nice to have musicians and performers from the area, but it's so loud that it's hard to have any conversation.
We tried to go here last night and we’re let down yet again. We had a rough experience last year as well. They had the whole dining room closed for a show that didn’t even start until 8 pm. We came in at 5 and we’re out by 615. They could’ve very easily sat us in the dining room since no one was there when we left. The guy said our only option was a folding high top or outside which the temperature was in the 50s. I had my 7 month old and none of us were dressed to sit outside. We were put in the room to the right of the door. The room is fine but not at all the atmosphere we were hoping for. They only had 6, maybe 7 tables in that room. Not at all enough for a busy Friday night. They brought out the folding high top to accommodate us (5 people) which was very difficult to sit at with a baby. The black table cloth on the folding table was dirty and full of holes. They seemed very unorganized and spastic. The poor guy assisting us was running all around trying to figure things out. He had no help at all. The food was alright but it was definitely not their best night. If they are going to do shows later at night, they should be able to sit the dining room early on or just close the restaurant all together. They could easily have Let us sit in the dining room tell us when we needed to be out by. We would’ve easily been able to abide by that time. This was our second time going here, just to be let down again. Not sure if we’ll return. If you’re not going for the show beware on seating. Their main audience is for shows it feels and not for those who just want to come for dinner.
i bet its good for live music, drinks reasonably priced, bad review is because the pretzel bites jesus christ, could tell were micorwaved or frozen, some areas really chewy, other areas hardened, idk if it was an off day, fries were really good, $13 for pretzel bites is also mid, thought the place was mid, would go back tho as the setup with music was cool and service was solid.
Had Lovin cup cater out event at URMC. Usually they are stellar but the food wasn’t enough for the 12 people . Ordered enough for 12 people & there were 12 extremely tiny pieces of “overly dry /over done chicken “ no utensils no plates not enough salad . Very disappointing!
Bad organization assigning tables for a special event. It took for ever to get our orders.
I would give a zero if I could. Went early on Saturday night for a birthday dinner for a friend. We were told there was a 20 minute wait if we weren't seeing the band (that didn't start for a couple hours). 25 minutes later, told it would be at least another 20. We (party of 5 of us) sat at the bar for over an hour and were never seated. Meanwhile people were coming and going into the "band area" and getting served. We ended up ordering to go and leaving. I told the manager how disappointed I was, especially as it was a birthday dinner. Her response - Oh that's awful! ?!?! Our food was dry and NOT good at all. We ended up eating snacks at home instead. I will definitely not be returning.
i hate leaving bad reviews but this place was super loud and unorganized. we sat there for 40 minutes after being seated without any staff acknowledging us, we couldn’t even get water. i watched a table next to us get seated, served, and finished without our table even being looked at.
Was excited to come here because it was recommended by a friend. Truly one of the worst dinning experiences I’ve ever experienced. Got seated at 5:30 and didn’t leave until 8:20. Waiter took 20 minutes to get to our table, and then forgot to order one of our entrees. Not a big deal, except she didn’t check on us for 40 minutes so we couldn’t even see if the entree was ordered, Had to flag down another waiter and he ended up ordering it for us. Food was mediocre at best and was not worth the price. Paying for the food was another painful ordeal and took another 45 minutes. Never have I ever had to go up to the host’s podium to try to track down our waiter. We were not the only table that had this problem tonight. Never will come back and never will recommend anyone come to this place.
HORRRRRRRIBLE and EXTREMELY RUDE service for such expensive and mediocre food. Will never go back with how the staff degraded multiple people in the party.
Very poor restraurant management. We checked their website, google, and Facebook and everywhere said it was open. We placed an online order and when we arrived there was a sign on the door saying they were closed. Pretty scummy for a place to still let you order online and take your money when it's closed.
