Leah's Cakery Round Lake Reviews
This uber-local coffee shop, bakery, and lunch place is legitimately old school, in the best way. I kind of felt like I was walking into my grandmother's old brownstone in Brooklyn :-) There are mismatched linoleum tables, a porcelain cow collection on the wall, and several small rooms to get cozy and comfortable in while you drink your free coffee refills. The menu is limited, usually only one soup and one sandwich option per day, but there are some delicious looking pastries and cakes available plus fresh coffee. There is plenty of parking in the adjacent gravel lot, and there is a restroom. You can take your coffee for a walk around round lakes Victorian homes, and come back for a refill if you want. They also encourage you to bring your own mug or travel cup.
I ordered pastries for a baby shower brunch; Berry tarts and the breakfast pastry platter. First time ordering from here and I was very impressed! It was a big order and everything was so fresh and delicious! The Berry tarts were the biggest hit! Everyone was raving about them and wanted to know where they were from. Highly recommend!
Always a pleasure visiting Leah’s! So many delicious and delectable cookies, cupcakes, muffins, cakes, granola, coffee and much more. One of my favorite offerings is the yogurt parfait! Thick, rich, creamy & so good for you!
We love Leah’s Cakery! My Dad is a frequent visitor for breakfast sandwiches but when we decided we wanted a custom cake for my Mom’s 60th birthday, we knew it had to come from Leah’s. Leah heard our inspiration and made a beautiful cake. It felt sad to have to cut into it and eat it! The details were AMAZING! Not only did it look stunning but it also tasted delicious! Highly recommend Leah’s!
Went to NY for family vacation and needed a cake for my daughters 13th birthday. Found Leah’s Cakery and loved the pictures I was seeing on social media. The online ordering for a custom cake was SO EASY! And the cake turned out exactly as I had envisioned. The atmosphere inside the shop was very inviting and even the customers were super friendly. Grabbed some brownies and biscuits while picking up the cake and they were superb. Wish we lived nearby because we would definitely be visiting this place regularly!
I wanted a fun and extravagant cake to celebrate my birthday and chose Leah’s Cakery from some of the impressive cake art I saw online. Not only was the website easy to use and order from, but Leah and the staff were incredibly helpful, responsive, professional, kind, and delivered exactly what I had asked for. The cake was absolutely delicious and so beautiful and I was instructed how to properly keep and serve the cake after picking it up. I got a lemon cake with lemon curd filling and my party guests and I absolutely loved it! I am so happy with my overall experience and would recommend Leah’s for a delicious and reasonably priced cake for any occasion. Thank you Leah and staff- you made my birthday one for the books!
Leah's made the most unique wedding "cake" of our dreams, a cinnamon bun cake! As soon as we started wedding planning, we knew if Leah's could make this dream possible, it would be perfection. Everyone who is local to the Capital Region knows how incredible Leah's cinnamon buns are, and now our out of town friends and family do too. The tiers were made of mini cinnamon buns with full size buns served for dessert. Extras were enjoyed all weekend! People still talk about our delicious wedding "cake". We can't recommend working with Leah and her team highly enough. Every anniversary we'll be enjoying a fresh cinnamon bun to relive the memories all over!
My family and I have been loyal customers since moving to the village in 2017. Leah has made countless birthday cakes, graduation cakes, even a wedding cake, and given us yummy treats of delicious blueberry scones and cookies. You can taste that Leah and her bakers use quality ingredients and put love, care, and soul into everything. I just had a birthday and used a Valentine’s themed cake and mini cupcakes for the party. I got nonstop compliments on how beautiful it was and how delicious it is. They put instructions on the boxes for you on how to best serve your cake (let sit out for 1 hour before, etc).
My family and I have been stopping in here frequently for coffee and delicious baked goods after discovering the bakery on the Zim Smith Trail. Their biscuits are amazing and we couldn't stop talking about our breakfast sandwich. We will be back!!
The temporary location has all the good vibes as the original location (which is closed temporarily for necessary work) and ALL the delicious treats. Amazing service and I enjoyed my perfect blueberry muffin this morning, and grabbed a salad for lunch!
What a cute place! I got a gift certificate and decided to go try it out today. There are so many hidden gems in my area, I was happy to find this one. Great cakes (retail shop inside) cupcakes, cookies, coffees, turnover, quiche, giftware, too. They have outdoor seating and an adorable inside setting as well. Will go back there for sure - very friendly and welcoming staff. I got a quiche, and an apple turnover. Both were terrific.
I am so happy I found Leah's Cakery to make my son's birthday cake! The cake that was made for my son looked EXACTLY like the picture of the cake I sent them (see pictures below), and it tasted as good as it looked! Everyone enjoyed it and asked where it came from. I am coming back here every year for my son's cake (with quite a few trips in between for their other tasty treats)! Thank you for making my son's birthday the best! Everyone was very happy that day!
It was my 1st time going to Leah's. I was passing through the area and saw a packed parking lot, people eating at the outside tables and people leaving with bags and coffee cups! My kind of place! I got a coffee and 2 savory pastries. A ham and cheese croissant and a Mexican street corn turnover. I took everything to go. Everything was excellent. I used the facilities before heading out, and it was clean and quite quaint. I definitely recommend this establishment!
Leah’s Cakery was one of the easiest and most wonderful vendors we worked with for our wedding. The whole process from tasting to delivery was organized, seamless, and delicious. We ordered chocolate cake with German chocolate praline filling and brown sugar vanilla cake with lemon curd filling which were both equally amazing and a huge hit with us and our guests. We also ordered a platter of breakfast treats that we picked up from the shop for the morning of the wedding, so tasty! We cannot say enough wonderful things about Leah’s Cakery. You need this wedding cake, and you need to visit the shop to try some of the other amazing treats she has! Meghan & Sam ~ August 2023 📸Maisie Snyder Photography
Great service, good people, bland cookies. Been quite a while since I had tried to first stop in at Leah's, spanning over two years with early closures, changes in their hours, and emergency events. At long last I got it in my mind to try again, and this time the attempt bore fruit! Or cookies to be more precise. Inside ascetic was very nice, like a small joint coffee shop, homely, warm, and it smelled nice too. The staff were friendly and conversational, I felt like all my hopes were being met. Sadly there were only a couple things among their individual selections I could actually partake in as chocolate makes my heart explode (don't ask), so I also opted to pick up some of their bagged and wrapped items too. Sugar cookies, frosted, sprinkled, and otherwise. Linzer Tarts, a Rice Crispy Treat, a Carrot Cake cupcake, a Lemon Custard Mini-Cheesecake, and a Vanilla Cupcake. As well as 3 slices of dessert bread. (Lemon, Pumpkin, and Apple) It all looked pretty nice. And I hoped so, since everything in total cost me over $50. Woof. Well looks can be deceiving, as I found all the cookies, the red hearts, the sprinkle covered, the drizzle frosted (both flavors), to be dry, bland, and lacking. Especially the sprinkled ones, which had that distinct chemical flavor from the sprinkles. The lemon bread with frosted top looked moist, but bitting into it I found it lacked any moisture. I was so confused, until I realized it was an oily shine, not a wet one. The lemon curd cheesecake was good at the very least with an inviting sweet and sour smashup, and so was the rice crispy, which was softer and toastier than most I have tried. But the large swath of my haul were the cookies, so I was pretty disappointed. I hope the remaining breads and cupcakes don't fail me like the cookies did, but yeah, darn shame that after several years of trying to stop in, the first time I do I'm met with this result.
Holiday cupcakes ordered for $18 for 6 of them and all dry. Better off buying the ones in the display. Christmas cookie platter was okay, to much sugar in the peanut butter oat bars and chocolate cookies.
Super cozy atmosphere, delicious pastries, and we love their pumpkin bread. The issue I have is with the Service. Leah is only friendly to people that she knows and likes. If for some reason, she doesn’t like you, and trust me, I’m friendly, polite, would NEVER be rude in public, I get the feeling when I go in she just doesn’t like me. (probably the typical mean girl high school vibe that I’m getting) Just a general, snotty tone, unfriendly. A little uppity. It makes me uncomfortable and not really wanting to support her business. The staff sometimes is also extremely scripted, not personal. I called recently about a rather large cake. I’m interested in ordering and was directed to the website, which is totally fine. I don’t have a problem ordering on the website, but the spiel I got from whoever answered, went on so long that I couldn’t even get a word in edgewise. It was almost like calling an automated number. I thought this was supposed to be a cute, friendly, local privately owned business, and I felt like I was calling Cakes INC. especially when someone is consistently talking over you and seems annoyed that you are asking them a question. I also work Customer Service so I know that the place is probably busy and try very hard to not take up much of anyone’s time but a customer should be able to ask the question That is pertinent to the conversation without someone simply spewing irrelevant information at them as if they are just another number. Love the food in atmosphere, don’t like the vibe from the staff.
