Opiniones de Leah's Cakery Round Lake
Leah's Cakery is a wonderful bakery in the village of Round Lake. I had a blueberry scone that was amazingly delicious...it wasn't dry like some scones but had this great cakelike texture. I also stole a piece of chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganache filling and frosting from my sister-in-law and it was the best I've had! The cake was very moist, there was plenty of ganache, and the frosting was sooooo darn good that I wanted to ask for a bowl of it and a spoon!☺
Excellent selection and great service. I had a wonderful cinnamon roll . Home made , soft, and delicious. Soups and beverages. Plenty of baked goods and a place to sit inside. Quaint and clean. Recommended.
The bread and baked items are delicious. There isn’t much savory food, but what was available—breakfast sandwiches and quiche—hit the spot. We had a wonderful snack here, and it’s highly recommended.
Fun atmosphere, amazing food, unbeatable service. Every time I have walked in here I have been greeted with a smile. When I can't decide on what to get they help me out, I usually end up leaving with more than I intended but I have yet to complain. Pro tip: get the chicken pot pie!
Iced dark and stormy with chocolate almond milk was amazing! Delicious buttery flaky biscuits! This is the place to start a nice walk on the trail!
Charming bakery with a friendly atmosphere serving coffee, tea, scones, quiche and more. Enjoyed quiche lorraine on the patio. Loved the blueberry scones and coffee and the renovation. Located near the Round Lake bike path.
Friendly, sunny, warm and warm-hearted. On the Zim Smith hiking/biking trail. Delicious baked goods. I’d show you a picture of my tart but I ate it already.
Delicious pastries and a very comfortable atmosphere. This is a must stop on your list! my personal favorite is the fruit pies but you can't forget about the cinnamon buns.
entering leah's is like stepping into a norman rockwell picture, one with great pastries, from-scratch cakes & pies, 4 intensities of coffee, and soup for lunch. customer service is cheerful & efficient. wx-permitting, there is outdoor seating for 4-5 couples. 3 tables inside. round lake village has a turn-of-the-century charm which leah's perfectly compliments. highly recommended !
I ordered a cake for my fiance at the time for our wedding (which turned out amazing!). In the process I also had lunch and grabbed some treats to go. My only gripe about this fine establishment is that it isn't closer to me.
Love love loveeeee Leah’s! Their chocolate chunk walnut cookies are amazing! The staff is pretty awesome too!
Leah’s Cakery in round Lake is the best! I got a slice of quiche, blueberry scone, and a bowl of chicken noodle soup for $11 and change! They have the nicest customer service there too, every time. I love that place!
This is easily my favorite bakery. The baked goods are absolutely perfect! My personal favorites are their scones which go great with their coffee selection. The staff is always very nice and helpful as well. Five stars!
Omg walked into the best smells ever 😍 bought a beautiful & delicious cupcake. Brown sugar black raspberry amazing not overly sweet just perfect. Nice people behind the counter :)
I love this place! When I need a Death Wish or a Slap in the Face (both coffees) this is my spot. The cakes, pies, breads, etc are friggin' awesome. Leah and her staff are top notch, first class people.
Seconds off exit 11, Leah's is a must-stop. A local culture creator and regional highlight. The best pastries, cakes and treats that are made with love- and great coffee... The owner has an artist's vision and understands humanity's mysterious need for beauty. Stopping in, however briefly or for takeout, will brighten your day.
This place is the crown jewel of Round Lake. The food is great, the coffee is hot, and the staff is always very friendly. The cinnamon buns are a must and the lunch sandwiches are great, too. I wish I could get here more often.
5 stars all the way! I ordered a custom cake for my daughter's birthday. The process went so smooth, from ordering to communication and onto pick up guidelines. Oh and, the cake was not only beautiful but delicious.
Is there a better way to show love than bringing treats? Bring them from this place and you’ll be the favorite!!! I bring treats from Leahs everywhere I go, and I always hear “Holy cow, you brought Leah’s?! That place is the best!!” My favorite part is location. This is the exact halfway mark in my bike ride from Ballston Spa to Mechanicville on the paved Zim Smith. What better way to take a break? stop in and ask for the owner herself, who is always there chatting up customers, baking an amazing wedding cake, or just creating a work of art to sell for the most absurdly low price. Don’t just go for the treats, though. Try the fresh bread, biscuits, savory scones, and my very favorite: Zim Bars. Ok, they’re not healthy but they act like it. There’s also awesome in-house shop selling all the greatest local artisan work, funky decor, and great locals.
If you live in the Capital District of New York State, do yourself a favor and make the drive to Leah's Cakery in Round Lake. If you're a bread lover, visit on a Friday - that's fresh bread day. I purchased a dill/onion loaf, which was delicious. As a bonus, a hike/bike path is next to the parking lot.
Leah’s Cakery never disappoints! Everything is always freshly made and delicious! I’m a fan of their egg sandwiches for breakfast...love the home baked roll and the coffee is always hot and fresh!
We've ordered from here 3 times now and each time has been perfect. The cakes exceed expectations in taste and appearance. The pastries/muffins/cupcakes are also amazing!
My wife and son stopped by today and brought home a bag of double chocolate cookies. Literally the best cookie that I’ve ever had in my life. Always friendly service when we stop by. Thanks Leah!
I love stumbling across great breakfast spots like this. I needed a cup of coffee so I got off the highway and there it was... Good coffee, a very friendly young lady at the counter and a super tasty cookie turned out to be the right way to start the day. I'll be back.
We ordered a key lime pie & biscuits on Wednesday and they were both incredible. My dad is a huge key lime fan and said one of the best he’s had. Will definitely be back!!!
Honestly i have only gone once and it was yesterday but when I walked in there it smelled amazing, had nice music and felt like a safe place. The people were sweet and the shirts are cute.
We love everything Leah makes. Try her pre-made frozen pot pies. They're my favorite!
Looking for a fun way to celebrate literally any occasion? Contact Leah’s and you can custom make a cake to your liking! My 40th birthday day cake was a flower garden piñata cake, I cut to the center and fun just poured out AND the cake was beautiful to look at. She also created the most fun phish cake with the classic donut design, she must love that band because it was perfect! The artwork she can create using frosting is amazing as well, perfecting every last bit! My favorite cake flavor is lemon with lemon curd and cream cheese buttercream, every bite is like living a dream. One of my favorite parts about Leah’s is that if you don’t see something you are looking for you can reach out and they’ll let you know where it is on the website or let you know that may not be specifically what they make but give you an awesome substitute! And most recently we have been ordering delicious biscuits to make strawberry short cake in the evening. Trust me, the biscuits do not disappoint! Lastly, I bring treats to work when I have time to swing in before leaving and I always have people asking where they are located and quite a few have followed up with orders of their own. Swing in, check it out!
One of the best bakery's I have ever been to. Staff is always very friendly and the baked goods speak for themselves. If your ever in the Malta/Round Lake or surrounding areas you should make this one of your stops.
I had them make an Elsa from Frozen cake for my granddaughter. It was so beautiful. It came out perfect. I would highly recommend this place. I was absolutely totally pleased with this cake and the flavor was really good also.
Just perfect little spot ! Heading back to the boroughs and just wanted a little treat for the ride.... we got more than we could have expected .. great place, super informative and friendly service ! Delicious sticky bun, cheddar and bacon muffin and oatmeal cookie 👌🏼... would definitely stop again
I grew up in Round Lake and moved to The Big City when I was 22. I would often return to visit family and usually stopped here for an iced coffee and a treat. It's been a long time since I have lived in Round Lake; several of the new 'Lakers' don't know who I am...but they apparently know my family. One day I walked in and overheard some older men gossiping about my family and some family friends. It wasn't entirely malicious, I guess...but what they were saying was not factual. Bless their hearts. #smalltownliving Come to Leah's for the treats! Stay to learn the 411 on your family members. ;)
First time since moving to Round Lake. Had coffee and some baked goods. My morning glory muffin was so fresh and delicious and my husband loved the lemon cake. The frosting was soft with a hint of lemon. The woman who took our order and made our coffee was extremely pleasant and friendly. Will definitely stop in again after burning of these calories!
Lovely place to stop for coffee, lunch or a sweet treat! Lots of parking and you can pay with credit. The lunch menu is just a few items but my husband and I loved it. It looks like some of the locals keep their coffee mugs in house too much like a bar would do with beer steins! Very cute place.
Went today with a friend that has been before and I just absolutely was blown away by the amazing sweets, the Christmas Cookie corner was SO cute, the staff were so helpful and wonderful and THE CINNAMON BUN blew my mind. It was the best cinnamon bun I’ve ever had.
I used Leah's Cakery for my daughter's 3rd birthday. The cake was done beautifully, and it was absolutely delicious. Everyone at the party (40 people) commented on how beautiful and delicious the cake was. We also ordered cupcakes and they were equally as delicious! I will never use another bakery in the area, Leah's is it! Thank you!
I was introduced to Leah’s by my boyfriend and I’ve gone more times without him than I’d like to admit. (Don’t tell Donovan) today I tried their chicken pot pie turnover and I am in love! I love how savory and filling it was so good bye Sarah Lee (or whoever makes those weird pot pies. You know, the one with the tiny shells). I highly recommend Leah’s for anyone who wants something to spike their blood sugar while reminding them of home.
Great little place with friendly staff and authentic small-town charm. Craved iced coffee after a kayaking trip on nearby Round Lake, and they had just what I hoped for (actually even better with different flavoring syrups and milk options ). Amazing baked goods as well! Limited table seating but customers are all friendly enough to hand off chairs to one another if they aren't using them. You won't regret the stop here. They even have Wi-Fi.
This is a bakery equal to Crisiones in Albany. They offer cupcakes, eclairs, lemon bars sandwiches, soup, the most creamy quiche I've ever had, little chicken pot pies that are fabulous, brownies, Rice Krispie treats, all types of cookies, bread coffee all in a cute little atmosphere in Round Lake. They make most beautiful wedding cakes. I've never tasted one but I've seen pictures of them and I know their cupcakes taste good so I know their cakes will be awesome. The staff is great the garden outside is lovely. It is an all-around awesome place to visit. They take credit cards have parking and again the staff is awesome.
This is a really neat place with a cool and friendly owner and just a great atmosphere. Highly recommend! Today we stopped and I got an Ice Coffee which was better than starbucks! My wife got a brownie, that was thick and moist (as brownies should be). This place is right next to the Zim Smith bike trail, so it's a great place stop at get a quick bite.
We loved Leah's Cakery! The pastries were fantastic as was the quiche. We also thought the iced coffee was delicious. We went here three times during a long weekend.
Ordered a custom unicorn cake from here. It was so detailed, beautiful and tasty! We are from a big city and have been to many bakeries over the years. This is a great local bakery! Definitely recommend. Oh, and the cinnamon rolls are AMAZING. Add some to your order, you won't regret it!
One of my favorite road trip finds! Their pies are amazing and reasonably priced. Scones are the best I've ever had and cinnamon rolls are huge and not overly sweet. Great coffee and great service. Staff is friendly, welcoming and very helpful.
Called to place a cake order for Father’s Day and they were unhelpful saying takes a week for normal cakes and 3 weeks for custom cakes I’ve never heard of such a thing most places can do a custom cake with in a week. Don’t recommend this place
It's not often that you enter a business and are truly impressed. But wow. I ordered a cake for my mom's surprise party and everyone RAVED about it and asked where I got it! The pricing is incredibly fair, but the service is truly top-notch. Very clean inside, welcoming environment, very busy (which, in a small town area, definitely tells you something!), and you are treated like you are an old friend. Gluten-free options too. HIGHLY recommend!
I visit for pastries on my yearly trips to upstate NY. By far, one of the best bakeries I've ever tried. Cookies, cakes, and pies are deliciously prepared and always fresh. Be sure to go early (within 2-3hrs of opening) cuz it's very popular for such a small place, so the inventory goes quickly. 🤤
Leah’s Cakery is a charming, authentic, thoughtful establishment located just off of exit 11, in Round Lake village. On the Zim Smith bike path. It is a gathering place for lively conversation and a lovely, homey spot for noshing. I have ordered custom cakes for personal and professional events and have enjoyed many delicious treats both savory and sweet. Customer service is personal and familial. Whether you choose a cinnamon bun, a huge cookie, a pot pie tart or a bag of homemade granola, you leave with a smile on your face and a belly full of love.
A friend brought Leah’s cupcakes over to my house. They were so delicious! Especially the frosting, it tasted like buttercream but not too heavy, just perfect. I took a picture of the only surviving cupcake and I’m about to devour it. I’m definitely thinking about Leah the next time I need to impress with a cake ✨✨✨
We get all of our cakes for celebrations from Leah’s and are always so delighted to see the design that they come up with using our inspiration images. So happy with how our cake turned out yesterday! Highly recommend for cakes and also for treats and coffee 😊
I ordered a strawberry cheesecake for a coworkers birthday and it was so good! I work in a restaurant and everybody in the kitchen that ate a slice all approved of it and said how good it was. I even gave a piece to our Linen guy who said I need to give you guys an awesome review, so here I am. ❤️ Thank you for making such a great cheesecake. I will definitely return . 😀
Yesterday, we stopped for lunch. Loved the ginger carrot purree soup, veggie turnover, and delicious cupcake. Took home a half priced peach crumple pie that was Awesome! You have to stop and bring a friend. Bike path/walking trail and parking lot right next to Leah's in Round Lake!
Our absolute favorite bakery in the capital district. Everything tastes home made and it smells incredible the minute you step inside. The quality of everything I have ever bought there is outstanding and I’m a regular customer. My whole family loves it and the variety is awesome. Everyone who works there is warm and friendly and makes you feel so at home. Also a shout out to the awesome soups and salads from Nine Miles East! So fresh and nutritious. Leah’s is a total gem in the area.
Can’t believe it took me so long to get in this adorable cake shop. The cake I ordered for my fiancés birthday was perfect. Incredible flavors and even better frosting (not that fake sugary taste). Will recommend to everyone I talk to when discussing sweets. And they even have coffee! 10/10.
Leah‘s Cakery is a perfect addition to the round Lake area. My wife and I love stopping in for breakfast after our bike rides on the Zim Smith path right next to it. Nicole, Amanda and the rest of the staff are warm, friendly, and the icing on the cake for this quaint little shop.
Absolutely delicious! Been wanting to check this place out since I found it online looking for a good place for a cinnamon roll. Walking into the shop I could smell all kinds of yummy treats! A real delight for the senses. Visually appealing shop. Clean, organized, well stocked. Shout out to the Moxie Coffee peeps I spotted your coffee on display. After a couple loops around I chose a bag each of Lemon Crackle and Ginger Snap cookies along with an Almond Cinnamon Roll. As soon as I got back to my car I dove into the Lemon cookies. Amazing!!! Fresh burst of lemon taste, soft and delicious! I will absolutely be back for more treats. Now the real question? Will I share my treats or horde them, lol!
My husband and I hired Leah’s Cakery to make our wedding cake and the entire experience was just perfect! They had a large variety of cake/frosting flavors and styles, and amazing customer service. We went with chocolate cake with raspberry filling. The cake looked gorgeous and I had guests asking me where the cake came from because it was so tasty. We’ve continued to buy treats and order cakes from Leah’s for all of our special events. My husband just recently ordered my Birthday cake and had my dog painted on the cake! I never expected to see something so beautiful! Not to mention the coconut cake with lemon curd was insanely good. I recommend Leah’s for any occasion, truly a great product and staff experience. I’d give them 10 stars if I could!
This uber-local coffee shop, bakery, and lunch place is legitimately old school, in the best way. I kind of felt like I was walking into my grandmother's old brownstone in Brooklyn :-) There are mismatched linoleum tables, a porcelain cow collection on the wall, and several small rooms to get cozy and comfortable in while you drink your free coffee refills. The menu is limited, usually only one soup and one sandwich option per day, but there are some delicious looking pastries and cakes available plus fresh coffee. There is plenty of parking in the adjacent gravel lot, and there is a restroom. You can take your coffee for a walk around round lakes Victorian homes, and come back for a refill if you want. They also encourage you to bring your own mug or travel cup.
I ordered pastries for a baby shower brunch; Berry tarts and the breakfast pastry platter. First time ordering from here and I was very impressed! It was a big order and everything was so fresh and delicious! The Berry tarts were the biggest hit! Everyone was raving about them and wanted to know where they were from. Highly recommend!
Always a pleasure visiting Leah’s! So many delicious and delectable cookies, cupcakes, muffins, cakes, granola, coffee and much more. One of my favorite offerings is the yogurt parfait! Thick, rich, creamy & so good for you!
We love Leah’s Cakery! My Dad is a frequent visitor for breakfast sandwiches but when we decided we wanted a custom cake for my Mom’s 60th birthday, we knew it had to come from Leah’s. Leah heard our inspiration and made a beautiful cake. It felt sad to have to cut into it and eat it! The details were AMAZING! Not only did it look stunning but it also tasted delicious! Highly recommend Leah’s!
Went to NY for family vacation and needed a cake for my daughters 13th birthday. Found Leah’s Cakery and loved the pictures I was seeing on social media. The online ordering for a custom cake was SO EASY! And the cake turned out exactly as I had envisioned. The atmosphere inside the shop was very inviting and even the customers were super friendly. Grabbed some brownies and biscuits while picking up the cake and they were superb. Wish we lived nearby because we would definitely be visiting this place regularly!
I wanted a fun and extravagant cake to celebrate my birthday and chose Leah’s Cakery from some of the impressive cake art I saw online. Not only was the website easy to use and order from, but Leah and the staff were incredibly helpful, responsive, professional, kind, and delivered exactly what I had asked for. The cake was absolutely delicious and so beautiful and I was instructed how to properly keep and serve the cake after picking it up. I got a lemon cake with lemon curd filling and my party guests and I absolutely loved it! I am so happy with my overall experience and would recommend Leah’s for a delicious and reasonably priced cake for any occasion. Thank you Leah and staff- you made my birthday one for the books!
Leah's made the most unique wedding "cake" of our dreams, a cinnamon bun cake! As soon as we started wedding planning, we knew if Leah's could make this dream possible, it would be perfection. Everyone who is local to the Capital Region knows how incredible Leah's cinnamon buns are, and now our out of town friends and family do too. The tiers were made of mini cinnamon buns with full size buns served for dessert. Extras were enjoyed all weekend! People still talk about our delicious wedding "cake". We can't recommend working with Leah and her team highly enough. Every anniversary we'll be enjoying a fresh cinnamon bun to relive the memories all over!
My family and I have been loyal customers since moving to the village in 2017. Leah has made countless birthday cakes, graduation cakes, even a wedding cake, and given us yummy treats of delicious blueberry scones and cookies. You can taste that Leah and her bakers use quality ingredients and put love, care, and soul into everything. I just had a birthday and used a Valentine’s themed cake and mini cupcakes for the party. I got nonstop compliments on how beautiful it was and how delicious it is. They put instructions on the boxes for you on how to best serve your cake (let sit out for 1 hour before, etc).
My family and I have been stopping in here frequently for coffee and delicious baked goods after discovering the bakery on the Zim Smith Trail. Their biscuits are amazing and we couldn't stop talking about our breakfast sandwich. We will be back!!
The temporary location has all the good vibes as the original location (which is closed temporarily for necessary work) and ALL the delicious treats. Amazing service and I enjoyed my perfect blueberry muffin this morning, and grabbed a salad for lunch!
What a cute place! I got a gift certificate and decided to go try it out today. There are so many hidden gems in my area, I was happy to find this one. Great cakes (retail shop inside) cupcakes, cookies, coffees, turnover, quiche, giftware, too. They have outdoor seating and an adorable inside setting as well. Will go back there for sure - very friendly and welcoming staff. I got a quiche, and an apple turnover. Both were terrific.
I am so happy I found Leah's Cakery to make my son's birthday cake! The cake that was made for my son looked EXACTLY like the picture of the cake I sent them (see pictures below), and it tasted as good as it looked! Everyone enjoyed it and asked where it came from. I am coming back here every year for my son's cake (with quite a few trips in between for their other tasty treats)! Thank you for making my son's birthday the best! Everyone was very happy that day!
It was my 1st time going to Leah's. I was passing through the area and saw a packed parking lot, people eating at the outside tables and people leaving with bags and coffee cups! My kind of place! I got a coffee and 2 savory pastries. A ham and cheese croissant and a Mexican street corn turnover. I took everything to go. Everything was excellent. I used the facilities before heading out, and it was clean and quite quaint. I definitely recommend this establishment!
Leah’s Cakery was one of the easiest and most wonderful vendors we worked with for our wedding. The whole process from tasting to delivery was organized, seamless, and delicious. We ordered chocolate cake with German chocolate praline filling and brown sugar vanilla cake with lemon curd filling which were both equally amazing and a huge hit with us and our guests. We also ordered a platter of breakfast treats that we picked up from the shop for the morning of the wedding, so tasty! We cannot say enough wonderful things about Leah’s Cakery. You need this wedding cake, and you need to visit the shop to try some of the other amazing treats she has! Meghan & Sam ~ August 2023 📸Maisie Snyder Photography
Adorable bakery and coffee shop in the quaint hamlet of Round Lake. Very friendly staff and fun atmosphere with many baked goods to choose from. The desserts are delicious but a little pricey for the portion, but I will definitely return.
I allways have a very good experience at Leah's , but purchase a few things for Easter & just did not think their Easter egg bread was worth the money ! I'm sure it's delicious but can't justify that price. So small.
They'd get 5 stars if they had more selection.
Stopped here for a snack after we bicycled on the Zim Smith Trail. A nice experience and a tasty ice cream/cookie sandwich. Highly recommended.
Great service, good people, bland cookies. Been quite a while since I had tried to first stop in at Leah's, spanning over two years with early closures, changes in their hours, and emergency events. At long last I got it in my mind to try again, and this time the attempt bore fruit! Or cookies to be more precise. Inside ascetic was very nice, like a small joint coffee shop, homely, warm, and it smelled nice too. The staff were friendly and conversational, I felt like all my hopes were being met. Sadly there were only a couple things among their individual selections I could actually partake in as chocolate makes my heart explode (don't ask), so I also opted to pick up some of their bagged and wrapped items too. Sugar cookies, frosted, sprinkled, and otherwise. Linzer Tarts, a Rice Crispy Treat, a Carrot Cake cupcake, a Lemon Custard Mini-Cheesecake, and a Vanilla Cupcake. As well as 3 slices of dessert bread. (Lemon, Pumpkin, and Apple) It all looked pretty nice. And I hoped so, since everything in total cost me over $50. Woof. Well looks can be deceiving, as I found all the cookies, the red hearts, the sprinkle covered, the drizzle frosted (both flavors), to be dry, bland, and lacking. Especially the sprinkled ones, which had that distinct chemical flavor from the sprinkles. The lemon bread with frosted top looked moist, but bitting into it I found it lacked any moisture. I was so confused, until I realized it was an oily shine, not a wet one. The lemon curd cheesecake was good at the very least with an inviting sweet and sour smashup, and so was the rice crispy, which was softer and toastier than most I have tried. But the large swath of my haul were the cookies, so I was pretty disappointed. I hope the remaining breads and cupcakes don't fail me like the cookies did, but yeah, darn shame that after several years of trying to stop in, the first time I do I'm met with this result.
The store is delightful as soon as you walk in. Well decorated & clean. Unfortunately, the cupcake my daughter received had been frozen and not completely thawed (the only explanation I can offer for a near frozen center of the cake portion & inedible, too hard to bite into frosting). I mentioned it to the staff, as I assume it was rotation error. I offered that note for future customers and that I wasn't trying to get a replacement, my daughter ate the cake. I was told the icing was buttercream & therefore more hard in consistency. As a culinary profesional myself & local business owner as well, I know what buttercream is & it shouldn't be served that way. Very excited to visit but underwhelmed by the experience.
I often stop in after my walk with a friend today we stopped for a muffin. I purchased the pumpkin coffee cake muffin which looked delicious and a nice change from my usual morning glory. The muffin was dry and not much of a "pumpkin" flavor? bland. The crumb topping added nothing to the muffin. This is very surprising to me, since I've always had great tasting breakfast treats.? maybe recipe needs checking or tweeking.
Holiday cupcakes ordered for $18 for 6 of them and all dry. Better off buying the ones in the display. Christmas cookie platter was okay, to much sugar in the peanut butter oat bars and chocolate cookies.
Super cozy atmosphere, delicious pastries, and we love their pumpkin bread. The issue I have is with the Service. Leah is only friendly to people that she knows and likes. If for some reason, she doesn’t like you, and trust me, I’m friendly, polite, would NEVER be rude in public, I get the feeling when I go in she just doesn’t like me. (probably the typical mean girl high school vibe that I’m getting) Just a general, snotty tone, unfriendly. A little uppity. It makes me uncomfortable and not really wanting to support her business. The staff sometimes is also extremely scripted, not personal. I called recently about a rather large cake. I’m interested in ordering and was directed to the website, which is totally fine. I don’t have a problem ordering on the website, but the spiel I got from whoever answered, went on so long that I couldn’t even get a word in edgewise. It was almost like calling an automated number. I thought this was supposed to be a cute, friendly, local privately owned business, and I felt like I was calling Cakes INC. especially when someone is consistently talking over you and seems annoyed that you are asking them a question. I also work Customer Service so I know that the place is probably busy and try very hard to not take up much of anyone’s time but a customer should be able to ask the question That is pertinent to the conversation without someone simply spewing irrelevant information at them as if they are just another number. Love the food in atmosphere, don’t like the vibe from the staff.
Drop by for a cupcake but DO NOT order a WEDDING CAKE here! 3 years ago we ordered a wedding cake from Leah after yummy cupcakes tasting. Gave a deposit, signed a contract.COVID caused us to reschedule and Leah'smade the date change. Then in March 2021 we were forced to reschedule yet again to June 25, 2025. We called Leah and she made a note of it ( admitted today the date was added by her with a question mark. She never followed up). This morning , 8 months after she noted the new date, I got a call from her employee saying there was a conflict in scheduling, Leah's daughter's graduation, and , sorry, there would not be a wedding cake. Why didn't you call us sooner, I asked. It's 6 months to the wedding and bakers are COVID-booked. No answer just letting us know how important the graduation was. Of course it us but that's not the issue. A responsible business owner would have made sure an associate would fill in or in some other way provide a cake. Our wedding, 3 years in the making, is very important, too. We're stressed and scrambling now. That's no way to run a business.
Place looks great, Leah appears to be sweet and caring. We ordered a wedding cake on june12 for July 16 paid in full even called on July 12 to make sure all was good. On July 16th cake was not delivered? When my son called Leah's she claimed she had no cake orders for the 16th of July. When I got on the phone she said she had made a mistake transferring from contract to her book and wrote us in for August....... 4 and a half hours later Leah brought a dried out small cake to the reception. Leah has not returned or taken a phone call from us.When I call I believe she is answering saying it's someone else. BUYER BEWARE.
We got here at 4:01 and there was clearly people inside eating and the door was locked. I brought my pregnant friend who desperately wanted a treat. We were very disappointed. The hours are not accommodating. Will not try to come back ever again.
I have been a big fan since first going there a few years ago. Within the last few months though , the quality of the products have seemed to have definitely diminished . With that said I’m not writing this to “ bash “ or “put anyone down “. I have been a foodie person for a long time , studied The Culinary Arts and try to be as subjective as possible when trying food products of the same type within a certain classification . I also know most businesses want feedback of their products, to not only help gauge quality to some degree , but to also get an idea of how their doing within their little corner of the world. So… Whether it’s due to the Covid pandemic and the lack of good employees, or supply chain shortages that everyone seems to be facing , but something has changed!! My wife and I tried the heart shaped rice crispy treat, and both of us agreed something was off. First when opening the package , they smelled very “ plasticy” . Then after the first bite , I noticed the familiar marshmallow buttery flavor that is typically associated with this treat was missing , or maybe it was intentional? I’m not sure , but it was too unfamiliar, and not worth finishing to find out how the rest of the story went. Then we had the pleasure of being given another treat which a friend had picked up. I’m not sure which classification it can be defined. Whether it was a Cinnamon bun yeast dough with an identity problem, or a strawberry cream cheese topping that ended up in the wrong dessert , but the flavor profile was one that would make you go hmmmmm??? To keep an open mind , I gave it a try. The bottom cinnamon bun dough was pretty tough , but very well balanced as one would expect with the cinnamon mixture. Once the odd combination hit the palate of my mouth, it was hard to imagine these flavor profiles working in harmony. Strawberries and cinnamon buns should not live happily ever after!! After the last two strike outs, I wanted to try something I knew had been good in the past, Leah’s cupcakes. I picked up a mixed combination today to take to a friends house , and unfortunately yet another let down. Typically they are moist , flavorful, and have a really good crumb. This particular order however was not quite the quality I had experienced in the past. The cupcake was very dry , and only a small percentage was moist. The frosting was unfortunately the biggest let down. It wasn’t very fluffy like other quality cupcakes I’ve experienced from other local bakeries, and even from Leah’s in the past. Instead it was “ very firm”, and had almost the same mouth feel like that of a cupcake from an office party in which it came from a grocery store. Hopefully the handful of items I’ve mentioned aren’t a sign of declining quality that is so often associated with complacency in this industry.
If you love a dry, tasteless cake, Leah's Cakery is the place for you! If you love terrible customer service then you're really in luck! The bridemaids and I ordered a cake for our Bride to Be from Leah's. We wanted to use a small, local business and we had heard great things about her cakes...those people must not have tastebuds. The cake that we recieved was absolutely beautiful, I will give her that. However, it tasted like cardboard and confectioners sugar. When it was adressed with her, she told one of the other bridesmaids that she uses butter instead of oil and that's why it was dry. Well Ms. Leah, butter makes the cake dense, not dry. She also told us that the cake was made a few days prior (maybe that's why it was dry?) and that if we weren't happy with her product that there are other options for us in the capital district. Not once did she say "I apoloigze" or "I am sorry". Her response was that of someone with a brusied ego. As a small business owner, she should have apologized. We didn't want our money back but we were SO disappointed (our guests were as well!) that an email from us was warranted. PEACE OUT LEAH.
We were SO excited to order a cake for a bridal shower from Leah’s Cakery. We were hoping to support a smaller local business and have heard wonderful things about Leah’s. Unfortunately the cake we received was extremely dry and not enjoyable or edible. I reached out to Leah, hoping for an apology, and was told that the cake we received tasted dry because butter was used not hydrogenated oil. I was dumbfounded by this because butter makes cake dense, not dry. I asked Leah when the cake was made and was told the cake was made to order, a few days in advance of pick up. Well, within those few days the cake went stale, obviously. A few days in advance is not made to order. I did not receive an apology from the business owner, and she did not express any type of understanding for our situation. Instead I was told that I could go elsewhere in the future. It’s safe to say all 50 individuals and their friends/family will be going elsewhere in the future...
Yesterday, on a hot summer day I stopped in to Leah’s. I was running the trail on Shenantaha Creek Par. I had water, but underestimated the heat and went through it pretty fast. I forgot my wallet and went in to Leah’s to ask for some tap water for my small 9oz bottles (2). When I asked the employee told me they had bottled water but I mentioned I forgot my wallet. The look the employee gave me, made me so sad. I was only asking for some tap water on a hot summer day. The employee was rude when I thanked them at the end. I understand it is a business, but giving a stranger water I feel is just common decency. Based on this treatment I would be very reticent to give them my business in the future, unfortunately.
After reading all the Google reviews, I had high expectations from this place. This morning, I walked in to order a cake, 10 days in advance. First of all, this is probably the only bakery in the US where you CAN'T order a cake in person, ONLY online. So, if you want a custom cake, online ordering will definitely make your experience unforgettable. Secondly, they need 3 weeks in advance for a simple white cake, one layer, for 15 people, no decoration. The most careless employee explained to me it doesn't matter how simple it is, it's still considered a celebration cake, because it's for a baby shower. My bad! Sorry I bothered you with such an outrageous request and I'll take my business elsewhere.
