A wonderful team dinner full of laughter, great food, and even better company 💛 Every dish from New China Restaurant was perfectly cooked — crispy, juicy, and full of authentic Cantonese flavor. Definitely the kind of dinner that reminds you why food brings people together. 📍New China Restaurant, Sacramento, CA

My friend told me that the New China Restaurant in the Pocket Area is under new management, and they have new menus and new chefs. We decided to have our dinner there last night. I found out they have a new sign at the front door, and the dining room is completely remodeled. The dining room is brand new and comfortable. They have new menus, including many Hong Kong-style yummy dishes and drinks. Some sections listed are coming soon. I can't wait to see more delicious items added to their menu in the near future. All the dishes we get are so good, and we have excellent services. New China is my favorite restaurant in Sacramento now!

The restaurant changed hands and has gotten a new face lift. The food has definitely improved. This is our local go for War Wonton Soup, House and Thai style chow mein & green beans with chicken. Everything is really tasty ❤️

Whoa. Weird. I was one of two people in the whole place. But not sure why. Basketball game on huge TVs, mongolian beef better than anywere else...and, a hugely fun conversation with an experienced waitress. She was hilarious. And the food was great. And the game was on. This should be on your gravestone.

In my own words the New China Resteraunt is a very good value with a wide variety of dishes on their menu. The service was excellent and the food was really fresh and delicious. The entrées made with care, the proteins were well cooked and the vegetables were not over done. Overall, I believe that New China presents a real value in our community and a welcome addition for lunch or dinner. What they lack in parking space they make up for with great food and a really friendly atmosphere. I would recommend dining here and is very convenient for pick up or take out.

Food was great! Rainy weather calls for soup! Was craving egg flower soup and ordered chicken chowmein and beef broccoli. The basics for now but the portions are enough to have second servings, soup hits the stop and quick service. Did not wait long for to go.

Fried stuffed Tofu with Shrimp paste is absolutely delicious. Peking spare ribs + Salt & Pepper pork chop are good. Baked Sea brass dish is amazing.

Plenty of food for the price! I brought a Deaf Elder with me, came at 4 pm to avoid dinner rush. Staff were friendly and patient with us. The shrimp cashew was delicious.

We attended on an unassuming Saturday evening in December. We noticed that no music plays, but that was pleasant to me. Not much of the restaurant was filled up, as it seems takeout and food courier services are frequent. However, we were greeted quickly and friendlily. It took maybe 5 minutes to order and a proper few more to receive our food. However, we did receive it all at the same time, for which I grateful. The pork chow mein was appreciatively lacking in sugar; however, one member of the party remarked that it was a tad salty for them. We enjoyed a very solid and well-portioned mandarin chicken (with baby corn). Finally, we tried the shrimp-stuffed fried tofu, which I must recommend to anyone willing to try something. It is silk tofu (very soft) with a mince shrimp ball placed on top, all fried and coated in a light, savory sauce. There were 8 pieces in the portion, and I could have eaten them all myself. I will likely come back for this.

I highly recommend the sesame chicken, fried prawns, egg rolls, chicken fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, sweet & sour chicken, and the cream cheese ragoons. We always order some variation of these items & its always delicious! Very consistent restaurant, we eat here maybe once a week, my kids & hubby love it!! Customer service is always great as well. We were skeptical after the changed owners last year; we've been coming here 12 years or so. But I gotta tell ya, the menu stayed the same, but the food is BETTER than it was under previous owners. & I love that they finally gutted the place & remodeled the inside. We've eaten inside recently for the 1st time in about 5 years. Would definitely recommend to anyone that loves Chinese food!

Food is very good, Hong Kong style cuisine. Service is great. Temperature was a little on the cool side (December 27 around 6pm). Instead of getting ice water, we got hot water! Problem fixed.

Good little spot for Chinese take out. Family owned & operated. I've tried the Hot & Sour Soup, Orange Chicken, and Tomato Beef Chow Mein. Quick service & staff are polite. They'll bring the order to where you're sitting versus making a loud announcement that your is ready. I even noticed that the owner delivered an order to the shopping strip next door, which is nice & convenient for nearby business owners.

So sad to see this place slipping. I would give one star but there is still food we haven’t tried because my husband is now driving back the incorrect food… I ordered the house chow mein with beef and veg (a pic from their site compared to what I got, which had a big ol shrimp on it, which I cannot eat). The second item we are taking back is the orange chicken. With eyes closed, tasting it, it tastes like soggy, breaded chicken. Zero actual flavor. Had everyone in the house try it because I thought something was wrong with my tastebuds. Not only was our food $70 for two adults and a kid, now we have to make a second trip to take it back. Thankfully I had Trader Joe’s orange chicken in the fridge. I really hope they turn it around. Updated almost immediately: I sent my husband to take the food back and they were refusing a refund even though they admitted the food was wrong. It wasn’t until he mentioned a bad review that they said they would give him a refund. Now he has just tried the wonton soup and it’s inedible (for a man who will eat anything that’s saying a lot). It’s basically cabbage water. Man. Terrible food and shady owners.

⭐️ 1 STAR — I wish I could give zero! $97 for the Mandarin Dinner for 5 and EVERYTHING was horrible. I don't even know where to start — this place was a complete disaster from the food to the service. It was takeout, and I’m still furious. ⚠️ The Payment Issue: I gave the woman $100 cash and told her twice I wanted my change back. She gave me a handwritten tab with just the total — no item breakdown, no proper receipt. When I realized I didn’t get my change and came back, she said, “Oh, I thought you were tipping me.” Excuse me?! Who tips before trying the food — and for takeout?? Super shady behavior. 🤮 The Food — Absolutely Disgusting: Teriyaki Chicken: Flavorless, dry, and just sitting in a bland sauce. No veggies, no seasoning, didn’t even taste like teriyaki. Crab Puffs: Burnt and tasted like old, refried frozen food. Chow Mein & Veggies: Clearly frozen veggies — soggy, bland, and gross. Chicken Fried Rice: Hard clumps of rice like it was frozen and barely reheated. It wasn’t even warm! Shrimp Dish: This one made me SICK — literally. Shrimp were undercooked, I took one bite, and immediately threw up. Beef & Broccoli, Sweet and Sour Pork, Soup: All tasted days old. Zero freshness, zero flavor. Portions: The containers weren’t even filled up all the way. For $97, this felt like a total scam. 💬 I’m a chef — and I promise I can make Chinese food 100x better than what I got here. I’m not Asian, but I know good food, and this was straight-up trash. I seriously believe they might be serving old or reheated food, and possibly giving better food to select customers, but I wouldn’t want it either way — it was all bad. 😡 I’m reporting this place to the health department. Undercooked shrimp? Burnt food? Cold and tasteless dishes? That’s a health and safety issue. I only came here because Chopsticks Express (in the same shopping center) was closed — and I’ve been going there for 30+ years. I’ll NEVER make that mistake again. I should’ve just waited. BOTTOM LINE: Don’t waste your money. Don’t risk your stomach. Even Panda Express is better than this. Go to Chopsticks Express instead — they’re way better in every way. 🛑💸🤢🤮😤

Basic food, tastes like it was made from frozen packaged food and sauce. Save yourself the money and go eat at Panda Express if your looking for America Chinese food. All the sauce was super overkill, overly sweet and sodium rich. The small tea pot was the best thing we ordered.
