We came across Idle Beer Hall & Brewery while on the No Pet Policy (with the “No” scratched out 😉) mission of finding great pet-friendly spots. The place is huge inside, with pool tables, basketball hoops, ski-ball, arcade games, and even a photo booth. The outdoor area is just as nice — lots of seating, a bar, and big screens for watching games. Their bar is super well-stocked with great beers and cocktails, and the overall vibe is super chill and welcoming. 100% pet-friendly and Retired K9 Bela approved! 🐾🍻

Big open air conditioned bar/brewery with an outdoor patio, pool tables, and some arcade games. Great beers. You can order food directly from the make ready market food hall which is next door and very convenient. I have seen lots of dogs inside so dog friendly as well. Great place to hang with friends and have a beer, cool off in the summer.

It’s a nice big building with pool tables, ski ball, and a basket ball video game you can shoot basketballs. If you want food it can come from one or more of the close restaurants. It was very chill with low key waitresses and waiters.

In a cool weird way it reminds me of a church. The architecture with all of the wood beams has an old world feel. Change out the lattice windows for stained glass and the vibe is 100% complete. Anyways, I digress. The beer, even with it being a small menu, is impeccable. Bonus, there is a food court that shares the space with Make Ready, a great food court with a solid menu.

I have drank beer from coast to coast in the US, and from Italy to Germany in Europe, and I have to honestly say that the beers that I tried at Idle were in my top 5 best beers that I have ever had. Now, granted, I love stouts, and they definitely delivered there, but even the IPA I had held its ground. The bartender was awesome, and took time to let me sample several. I will absolutely be back anytime that I'm in San Antonio.

Idle has become one of my new favorite bars in San Antonio! Being close to the Riverwalk, the bar is perfect for tourists and locals alike to stop in for a drink or a bite at the nearby food hall. There are a variety of games and a large outdoor space for kids or dogs. Great draft cocktails for quick and courteous service and the beers are nice ‘n cold - I recommended the Mexican Lager! The space is huge and perfect for groups of friends, even on busy nights it never feels too crowded. Whether you’re visiting San Antonio or you’re a local looking for a staple, Idle is worth checking out.

Idle is a great spot with plenty of room for everyone. The patio is very spacious and seating inside is comfortable. Pool tables and skee ball make it even better! This isn’t your typical brewery set up; this place feels like home! Bring the kids (until 7) or the dogs and stay awhile.

Awesome Saturday Night at IDLE. Great beer and fun indoors. They have a freaking JAWS pinball machine. Live Music this evening by Gelina and The Diamondbacks, with great renditions of country and americana music

I enjoyed this place. I think my favorite thing of all is that they have cocktails. My boyfriend loves beer and I don’t, so I feel like it is inclusive of couples who have that dynamic and don’t drink beer. My boyfriend liked the beer. The only thing is that they don’t serve food, so plan accordingly. Overall, great atmosphere!! Will be returning.

Came here because it was listed in my “passport” for the SA beer week and enjoyed it. They have a lot of space to spread out both inside and outside with lots of random things to do; ping-pong, pool, skeeball, board games etc. and TVs playing the major sporting events. The selection of beers they brew is small but I understand they are new and still growing. I got an El Dorado lager which was good. Just like Roadmap, the location is great because it’s a short walk to 2 other breweries. Great area to do some chill day drinking with the fam.

Wow! This place presented a Sumday afternoon vibe I hadnt ecmxperienced in years, with DJ Reggie spinning top tunes adding an ecclectic energy to the place. I recommend the Whiskey Cherry Coke--its like a slushy!

Great beer, perfect indoor and outdoor vibes, big screen TV for sports, friendly bartenders. Can't ask for much more for a great hang in a great city, right by the Riverwalk. No notes!

BLUF: Solid beer, and cocktails, in a somewhat disjointed space with a lot of potential. Idle Beer Hall & Brewery should be on your radar if you’re a fellow craft beer lover, and they’re the last of the breweries in this area that still does craft cocktails as well, so your non-beer drinking guests have something to indulge in as well. Their location is premium and the space they’re in has so much potential, but in my opinion it’s a little disjointed in its current configuration. Not enough screens to be a sports bar, not enough pool tables to be a pool hall, and not enough arcade games to be an adult arcade. Personally, think they’d benefit from leaning heavier on one or two of those concepts and excelling at them instead of trying to do all of them poorly. They have two pool tables, two Skee-Ball machines, two arcade basketball machines, and some photo booths. They have a lone projector in their interior seating area, so you’re stuck with whatever game they’re playing, with no additional screens to check in on other games being played concurrently. You’re also locked into looking in that direction if you’re there for the game. They would benefit from adding a few more screens throughout the venue. No screen behind the bar indoors, but two screens behind the outdoor bar. On chillier nights they have some wood burning chimneas for warmth, but could use a few more. Things worth knowing ahead of time: Dog friendly, in and outdoors. No dedicated parking lot, but ample parking at nearby paid lots, and a limited amount of free street parking. The Make Ready Market lot offers two free hours with purchase, but not sure if an Idle Beer Hall & Brewery purchase satisfies that offering. The Make Ready Market is next door, so plenty of food options but they close relatively early so not recommended for late night dining.

We brought some friends out here after having dinner at the make ready market. It was a fun place to hang out the rest of the evening. The beers where good, but a bit pricey. Though this is what you're gonna have to expect this part of town. There was plenty of seating and several bar games to play. We had a good time throwing darts. We came on karaoke night without realizing it. While the showing was impressive, I had a challenging time talking with the guests I came with.

Superfun converted industrial space with not just a few beers and a buncha cocktails, but ACTIVITIES too! 👍👍 There's skeeball, steel tip darts, that hoops game, pinball, pool/billiards, and some (horrible) cornhole boards and giant Connect 4 in their shared courtyard. The games and darts do all kinda sit right in the natural flow of foot traffic though, and/or are smushed into too-small of an area - I wish they had more elbow room. We didn't get a chance to try Idle's beers (shock!! Lol. We'll be back for that 🤠🍻) but the cocktails we tried - Halloween special butterbeer (rootbeer + vodka + butterscotch sauce) and a frozen boozed-up cherry Coke - were very sweet, but very delish.

San Antonio's newest brewery. Loved that they also have a full bar for those who don't drink beer, so there's something for everyone here. I'm a beer drinker and had all 5 offerings (they said they had to pour out their One Timer Lager as it went bad). The IPAs were solid, just a little too bitter. The Kölsch and Märzen were good renditions of traditional, German styles. That Peach Kölsch was hands down the best beer. It was loaded with ripe peach. Overall, a good brewery, especially considering that they just opened. Excited to see what they do in the future.

Good space for a big party, but unfortunate that you can't reserve specific space. Games and such are good for children. Decent variety of beers, but bartenders not particularly helpful with suggestions.

My biggest beef is that it was EXTREMELY loud inside, I have no idea why it's like a nightclub in there, too loud to have a nice conversation. Beer is well priced and well flavored for what it is. Parking is easy to find even on a Saturday night. Overall a good spot but could very well improve.
