Lucky Noodle House San Antonio Reviews
Small main dining but excellent service with minimal staff. Hand drawn noodles! Thin=spaghetti, fyi.
The service was friendly as it was pleasant, we had a late lunch, but still quite busy with pick ups for take out meals. A single dish of food was definitely enough for two regular people to share. If you candle your spicy tolerance then this is definitely worth it.
If you’re looking for a new favorite pho place, this is it. The pork with thin noodles is my personal gold standard. I usually order it mild and then dial up the heat myself with the table chili oil. Pro tip: Don’t leave any broth behind! It’s so flavorful that it makes an incredible base for a home cooked soup the next day. 10/10.
No pictures because we were hungry 😂 The food was great, the dumplings are sooo good!! The tripe salad was delicious, my husband and I devoured it! The beef soup hit the spot and the noodles were sooo good it reminded me of the noodles I would eat growing up in Hawaii. The service was great, the lady serving us was nice and attentive to us. We’re gonna come back again ☺️
Noodles are as good as you can get anywhere. Service was exactly what I needed but not on top of me. Extremely pleasant and comfortable meal. And the portion was large enough that I ate only half.
I love this place! I come here for my lunch break often. The food is so good! I love their noodles and dumplings - but everything else I’ve tried here has been delicious. Specifically their double friend pork, pork and chive dumplings, any of their stir fry noodles, and ramen. The portions are generous and the price is very reasonable. Service is a little slow, but everyone is super friendly.
This was my first time at the Lucky noodle and all I can say is WOW! Amazing food ant the flavors were outstanding! I had the stir-fry flat noodle with chicken and they made it spicy for me. Also had the pork and chive dumplings and the tomato and drop soup. I shared it all with a friend...that's how much they serve you. Amazing place...a must try.
My faves are cold noodles ( only on weekends). Also the flat noodle stir fry(chicken or shrimp )is awesome. Oh and the chicken dumplings are the best dumplings. Just don’t order rice options because…. It’s a noodle house. Oh I also like the pickled cabbage as an appetizer, but everyone else prefers the garlicky cucumbers…. Man I’m wishing I lived closer right now.
Outstanding noodles! While the ramen menu is straightforward, the variety of stir-fried and dry noodle dishes is impressive. The handmade noodles are the true highlight—fresh, springy, and full of character. I especially appreciate that the spice can be served on the side, allowing you to tailor the heat to your taste. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, perfect for a casual meal. Portions are generous, and the pricing is more than fair, offering excellent value. If you’re in the area, this spot is absolutely worth a visit.
I've been coming here for years and have tried SO many dishes I've lost count. From their less common dishes to the ones they're famous for, I've never been disappointed. I'm blown away every time! Pictured: Spicy and sour sweet potato noodles with shredded pork, my all time favorite (it's vinegary and contains Sichuan pepper, peanuts, cilantro, zha cai)
We happened upon this place when we landed from our flight. It’s a bit tucked away in a strip mall but there is a Daiso nearby. Their prices were very fair and you got a great portion for the price. We ordered the pork and cabbage dumplings (20 for $10) and the hand pulled noodle with beef soup. The dumplings were fantastic and even better with soy sauce. The noodle soup was also good, but I will warn for those who can’t tolerate spice- we ordered mild and it was still extremely spicy to me. It had a good flavor but even my friend, who had a higher spice tolerance, his face was red and nose was running by the end. Good service, great prices, good food!
UPDATE. Still great fresh food with great taste. Service is generally good. The pork and chive dumplings are still my most favorite. We've been here many times over the last few years and have seen their business grow. Fresh, shop made noodles in thin or flat are amazing, tender and flavorful. We start with their pork and chives dumplings that are tasty and hot. I keep thinking we will try some of the other choices but these are so good we've eaten them every time we are here. Choose your noodle and then a protein, beef, lamb, chicken, pork or shrimp and decide if you want them stir fried or with soup. This is a smallish shop but they have excellent service and very tasty food. Take out is available as well.
Stopped in to try some noodles. Ordered ice tea, sweet and sour cucumbers, and sweet potatoes noodles with lamb. Tea and cucumber salad came out quick. Was amazed with the variety of flavors on the cucumber salad. Then the main dish sweet potatoes noodles with lamb was placed on my table steaming hot. As I tasted the bowl, I could tell the spice was very good and powerful just how I liked. It took me a while to finish the bowl because it was a big bowl and certainly filled me up. I can testify this was a spicy but good bowl of noodles that completely filled me up. Very much enjoyed dining here.
The food was great. Probably the most shocking thing is how affordable this place is. If your on a budget for good food that leaves you leftovers, check this place out. Easily the soup is 2-3 servings, the dumplings were a great meal alone. The waiter was so sweet but the seats were slightly broken.
Mild = SPICY if you don't have a good spice tolerance. I ordered sweet potato noodles with lamb (F3). The food is amazing, and prices are even better, but be cautious with items labeled spicy. Wide, thin, and sweet potato noodles were all well made. Noodle bowls come with an incredible amount of noodles, so great leftovers. Service is good, atmosphere is calm. Would definitely recommend it!
Walked in, and we were immediately seated. Our drinks came right away as we browsed the menu. It felt like it took a while for the food to come out, but it was worth the wait. I ordered the stir fry lamb with a mild heat, and my wife the beef noodle soup. Friendly staff, great food, definitely will return.
My absolute favorite Noodle house in SA by far! All the noodles are made in house which you can visually see. My favorite soups are the beef noodle and pork noodle. I prefer the thin noodles as my choice. The soup is super flavorful especially spicy the way I like it. The level is from 1-5. I've recommended this restaurant to family and friends and I hear nothing but great remarks. The service is really good and the the staff is both patient and friendly. Highly recommend Luck Noodle House.
I’m not much of a noodle soup person at restaurants, but this restaurant is the bomb. The soup was so savory so delicious. Everything was fresh. Even the garlic that they used for the soup was fresh. I really really really recommend.
I ordered the beef & thin noodles. The beef melted in my mouth. Very tender. The broth is good. The noodles were not for me. But, others rave about them. The pork & chives dumplings are very good! I had them fried and they were even better! The crisp chili paste takes them over the top! First time here today. I'd like to try some other dishes for sure! The young man who waited on me after I decided to dine in, was patient and extended hospitable service. Cooks were very nice! Friendly! Nice, unpretentious establishment. Hit the spot before we get this cold-front in. Stay warm. Stay safe everyone.
Lucky Noodles stays true to their heritage and pulls their flat noodles by hand. It's so much fun to watch that happen in the back of the restaurant through the kitchen window. They're absolutely delicious and have a perfect texture and consistency. However, their meats are the weak point in otherwise great dishes. They lack flavor and were cooked overdone. Meats asides, their broths and noodles are excellent so this is worth a visit.
We got our food to go due to traveling and tired. I liked the food ok but my husband did not. It says "homemade" but we felt like it was spaghetti. While I was waiting it looked like the many customers inside were enjoying their meals. The fried rice and dumplings was very good, but my husband said he only likes fried dumplings? I say definitely try thus place! Husband just misses Korea in the 1980's
Ordered to go the beef stir fried noodles (C3) with medium spice level and it was the blandest noodles I’ve ever had. The lady that took the order was very kind and the service was quick. I had high expectations and was hoping a positive outcome.
I ordered the handpulled noodle chicken soup and the stir fry noodle with chicken. I asked her initially what type of beef the beef (soup) was and she told me she didn’t know so I opted for the chicken. It was all super greasy and I even asked her what the chicken looked like in the soup and she pointed to the photo of the chicken pieces but when I got home there’s a whole chicken leg bone and all. It was not good at all and I spent $23 on it just to throw it away. Never again.
