Pappadeaux San Antonio Reviews
Chance was our amazing server. He is knowledgeable, attentive and so helpful for us to make an informed decision on what we should order. The Spicy Grouper and Red Snapper were both amazing. The Roasted Oysters were a great appetizer. This was our first time at this restaurant and the food was amazing!! Highly recommend this restaurant when you are in San Antonio.
I cannot express how good the service was at this place my cousin came from Jersey and we really enjoyed the atmosphere The Experience our server was on point with everything he went above and beyond he is in our pictures I can't remember his name but honey he needs a promotion and a raise he even wiped the crumbs off our table I have never had this level of service at a restaurant ever and I travel and eat all over the world Pappadeaux's is definitely my go-to place from now on for seafood and when I have out of town visitors. Delicious doesn't give justice to how good our food and drinks were visited on 7/11 had a few issues however the Manager Tyree addressed them professionally and helped save my fiancé birthday Brunch! He's truly amazing and has great people skills ❤️
The service we received Tuesday around 4pm from Thomas was exceptional. Everything came out hot, fresh and quick! He was there checking in on us to make sure everything was great. The food is always fresh and the flavors are phenomenal. One of our go-to spots to splurge and celebrate any occasion. The crab cakes were the best we’ve had in a long time, even better than the ones we tasted in Baltimore this summer! You can’t go wrong with the salmon Alexander or the shrimp and grits!! Stop by here if you’re near, the wait is always worth it.
We had lunch here at around noon. There was no wait time and were seated right away. Our server Johnny was amazing and attended to all our needs and anticipated what we might need. We both first ordered the Cesar salad, since it was $2 off because it was lunch time. The salad was superb. We then ordered the Baked crab mac & cheese and OH MY GOODNESS! The cheese was so creamy but not chunky, and also there was some good pieces of crab on there. The portion is kind of small if thinking of sharing with more then two people. For the entree, we shared the chicken lemon pasta. We both shared it and Johnny, our server, was kind enough to have the pasta served already in two different plates. So thoughtful. We loved this place and will definitely be back.
Came here to eat with my family and we enjoyed our experience. We hadn't come in years but are glad we decided to come again. Our waitress Crystal was excellent! She was attentive, kind, and funny. She made our experience even better. We will come again, and hopefully have her as our waitress again!
Came here to celebrate my birthday because I was craving some Cajun food. Excellent choice. I had forgotten how good this place was since I hadn't been here I a while. I will recommend it to everyone I speak to and as a hotel concierge, that's a lot of people. Ronald our server was excellent and will recommend him as well.
For drinks, the pineapple refresher and peach sidecar were both fantastic. We savored the crab and spinach dip, a flavorful delight teeming with generous crab chunks that left us craving more. For our entrees, my husband opted for the jumbo 5-pound live Maine lobster, a feast for the eyes and the palate. Also the first time EVER that my husband couldn’t finish a dish. It’s big! I enjoyed a more modest 1.5-pound lobster, both served with delectable linguine and mouthwatering dipping butter. The freshness and quality of the lobsters were outstanding, making it one of our favorite dishes on the menu. Although, we were too full to indulge in dessert on this visit, their crème brûlée is always amazing. Throughout our dining experience, our waitress, Me Me, provided exceptional service. Her friendly demeanor, attentiveness, and helpfulness added to the overall enjoyment of our meal.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Dining at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. As soon as we were seated, we were warmly welcomed and taken care of by an incredibly attentive and professional staff. The service was top-tier—friendly, timely, and consistent throughout the entire meal. One thing that really stood out was how efficiently everything ran—our food arrived right on time, fresh and steaming hot, without any delays. I ordered the Alexander dish, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The seafood was tender, perfectly seasoned, and full of rich, savory flavor. You could tell it was prepared with skill and care—every bite was satisfying and left me wanting more. The combination of the creamy sauce with the shrimp and scallops was just perfect. It’s clear that Pappadeaux doesn’t cut corners when it comes to quality ingredients and culinary excellence. The overall atmosphere was vibrant but still comfortable enough to enjoy a relaxed, delicious meal. If you’re a seafood lover looking for amazing food, timely service, and a memorable dining experience, Pappadeaux is the place to go. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon!
Came here for the first time yesterday 8/14 for my birthday. I enjoyed it. I had the Seafood Tagliatelle and it was delicious. My husband had the Ribeye with baked potato and broccoli and he was really impressed with the steak. My daughter, 9 had the kids shrimp and tenderloins which she enjoyed as well. The waiter Armando P. was kind and explained a little history to us since it was our first time which we appreciated. He also kept our drinks filled. Overall great birthday dinner. Will be back to try the seafood salad!
I had an amazing dining experience at Pappadeaux! I ordered the Mardi Gras Pasta, and it did not disappoint—the grilled shrimp were perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor. The sauce had just the right amount of spice, making every bite rich and satisfying. We also started with the Shrimp and Crawfish Fondeaux, and it was incredible! Creamy, cheesy, and full of seafood goodness, it paired perfectly with the garlic bread. Definitely a must-try if you love bold, Cajun flavors. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere made for a great dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
Dimitri H made our experience the very best we’ve had out of any visit to Papdeaux in all of San Antonio. He went above and beyond and met our needs proactively. It felt like service that’s rare to find anymore. We definitely will be back to the 410 location!
The quality of the food here is always exquisite - cooked with precision. I like my seafood more rare than medium rare and they always accommodate. The fish, crab, oysters, etc. are always fresh and flown in daily as they state. The servers are always friendly and most of them that I’ve encountered are sociable. The atmosphere is classy - sometimes I feel as though I’m dining on a ship. It makes me feel at ease eating here. The price is worth the quality as well even though they are at the higher end. If you are craving seafood, this is a great place for a date night or family dinner. It’s also great if you’re craving some snacks - for some raw oysters and cocktails. It tends to get busy on the weekends in the evening so arrive early but there’s normally plenty of parking.
The food was great, I loved it. From the 3 entrees we ordered, we loved it . The calamari is crunchy and has a good taste, especially their white sauce that comes with it. And the gumbo is delicious also. Our server, Amani/Amany is very helpful and nice. He explained to us about what's great here and always checked on us. The atmosphere was awesome. We had a great experience and early dinner time.
This place was so good and one of my favorite meals in San Antonio! I'm definitely coming back next time we're in the city! We were seated even though it was close to closing time. Our waiter was upbeat, friendly and gave wonderful service. I tried the shrimp gumbo which was amazing and made me wish I ordered a larger portion. We got the fried shrimp with french fries, which they fried fresh and the shrimps were so big and sweet, unlike anything I've ever tasted. Our waiter was attentive enough to split our one entree in half before serving to us, without us having to ask. We really enjoyed our visit here and can't wait to come back. We're craving the meals after we left Texas!
I've seen some places recieve five stars an in my head I think maybe in my cynacle brain I thinks that the ratings are meritless. This place in my opinion hands down delivered mass produced outstanding food. & maybe mass produced isn't the best voice of words but there were many people dinning in and they all seemed to be experiencing the delight I felt for this food. This was was my 1st time and my overall opinion was that it was great. Had the blackened cat fish with rice and beans and it was cooked very well. Even the waitress was in sync with the overall vibe of the restraint. She was polite, knowledgeable about the restaurant menue and very helpful . I wish I could remember her name for a shout out but she had brown braids and worked the afternoon shift. Of all the restraints that I have heard been o er hyped this one was not. Two thumbs up!!
Came here for our anniversary and had such an amazing experience! Our server Chance was incredible! He knew the menu and knew it so well we ordered all his suggestions and were sooo pleased, the food was amazing. We haven't had this great of service in so long that it just made our day even better! Thank you Chance!! Keep at it !!! ALSO yes the food amazing just go!
Outstanding experience once again at this staple establishment for San Antonio. My girlfriend and I came here on a Friday night around 9pm. It had been awhile for both of us so we thought it would be a nice last minute pivot. It was a rare nice summer evening for San Antonio so we were hoping to grab a place on the patio and were disappointed to hear it had been shut down for the night. No big deal, but that’s when we met Robert Jordan, who is the general manager and overheard us while we were at the host station. Robert said he was willing to seat us and find us a waiter to serve us outside. That alone was generous and would make our experience here memorable. But our waiter- Chance, turned out to be just as outstanding. He was knowledgeable about the menu, personable, social and helped us have one of our best dining experiences we have had in awhile. The food at this establishment has never disappointed and the service is such that if there is something wrong in the slightest way they will make it right. Some people take advantage of this and that’s a shame. But in our case the food was exceptional. WE started with the crab fondue and it was so good because it was not heavy and creamy but rich and full of flavor with each bite. We split the Alexander Salmon which I can’t rave enough about. Portions were such that splitting the meal with the appetizer was absolutely plenty. We added peach spritz drinks that Chance recommended and it was the perfect summer evening drink. Over all an exceptional evening. I wish we had had room for desert. So I highly, highly recommended. Ignore the negative Nancy’s on here. I have been here several Times over the years to this particular establishment and it has never ever disappointed and you’ll be glad you chose it.
Very relaxed environment. We went first lunch at noon and despite the crowd the restaurant was large enough to accomodate...no waiting lines and our hostess was wonderful. Food was hot and tasty. Hadn't been in years but now will visit more frequently!
This is my favorite restaurant in San Antonio. I've been coming here 1-2 times a year for a while now. Not once has it disappointed. The only thing that saddens me is when something I love changes off the menu; it also gives something new and delicious to try. I highly recommend giving them a try.
Food like always it’s amazing, great ambience but they still lack better service. Hostesses they need to be nice and polite. Pappadeaux it’s not cheap therefore the service needs to be upscale. Waiters they need to be prompt , polite and know their menu. If they can’t handle one table they need to bus tables or get out. Attached is Ginger Salmon and Cesar salad with blue cheese sauce on the side. I strongly suggest the blue cheese but not all of it otherwise it would be too strong.
This is my first experience in San Antonio, TX on 410 near the airport. My husband and I made a reservation for 2:15 pm. And we were asked to wait. We did while our guests arrived. We had a chance to take pictures outside while waiting, and then we were called and seated. The waitress ( Madea) was on point, courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive. The place was packed; but there was space to breathe, eat, and enjoy a wonderful meal. Thank you 💥
My first visit to this restaurant was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was truly remarkable, the decor was stunning, and the service was outstanding. The food exceeded all expectations, delivering a phenomenal culinary experience. Additionally, I had the unique opportunity to meet two celebrities, which made the evening even more memorable. I will certainly be returning.
One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long long time. The food was amazing! I had a cup of shrimp gumbo and the Texas Redfish Pontchartrain. 😋😋 But what made the experience memorable was the top-notch service. Everyone working the bar tag-teamed to make sure I was taken care of and good to go. Good service is all about attentiveness, and these guys, (and gal), nailed it! 👍👍
First visit, ordered catfish and shrimp and redheads and rice with Cesar salad enough to feed 2. Large portions, fresh tasting, not overly done with spices and the taste was sooo good. Great service and atmosphere. Definitely returning. Pricing was very reasonable. Most individual plates will feed 2 so ask server about that and think about sharing unless you are very hungry.
We visited Pappadeaux on a very busy night but were very pleased with our experience. This was our second visit to this restaurant and our server Steph was so incredibly patient and thorough. She kindly made recommendations and answered all our questions with a smile and her knowledge of the menu was impressive. My pina colada was delicious, my elderly Mother loved her fried seafood and I appreciated the no spice option. I loved the baked chicken- it was cooked to perfection and we all enjoyed the baked potatoes! Excellent service and great menu options. We will be returning.
This is the very first Pappadeaux restaurant I ever went to growing up, this location has stood the test of time. I have always enjoyed coming to this location and never had it disappointed. Whether it was family, friends, or dates, it has been here. It's been a few years since I have been to Pappadeaux and since I came in on a flight from Mexico we stopped in for lunch, it was worth the Blackened Fondeux alone, and I have always loved the Crawfish Etouffe over the years. Always satisfied with this staple of Texas restaurant chain!
I took my granddaughter for an early Thanksgiving. Had excellent service and good food. The acoustics is bad and it’s very noisy in there. We had the lump crab/spinach dip appetizer, which was good. The Shrimp Brochette was very good as was the Pasta Mardi Gras. On top of all that, we were lucky enough to be served by Raine. You couldn’t ask for a more attentive, and fun server. Great personality.
Justice is quite the server! Sweet but very chatty. 😅 I hadn’t visited a Pappadeaux in probably ten years and I really enjoyed all of the offerings, including the dessert. Loved the gator bites especially because I missed out on trying them when I was in New Orleans last weekend!
The food was incredible, absolutely amazing. And a huge shoutout to Connor, our server. His service was exceptional and he made my wife and mine’s anniversary dinner very special. We really appreciated how welcoming and attentive he was. Highly recommend if you’re passing through San Antonio!
I dined in w/my family here for a late lunch on 6/26/24 around 2PM. We were seated as soon as we arrived. The restroom & eating areas looked clean. My appetizer was the crispy alligator w/ creole dipping sauce was amazing! The batter had a nice crisp, the alligator meat inside was juicy,& the seasoning was on point! My main entree was the Cat fish w/Broccolini. I enjoyed my Arnold Palmer I asked for them to make. The service was top tier, our food came out fast even though the restaurant was busy. I couldn’t eat it all my food. I reheated it for later & the cat fish batter was still crispy & not soggy! Yum! I was too full for dessert, but I was eye balling the other delicious plates & I’ll be back!
We visited the 76 NE Interstate 410 Loop location on a Sunday afternoon. We made a reservation online for 12 pm and received a text at 11:55 am that our table was ready. The service was great! What we noticed the most was that all staff helped each other out with whatever needed to be done for the customer, whether that be clearing dished, bringing out food, refilling drinks, etc. One downfall to our visit was that it was our first time there and the menu does not contain detailed descriptions. Now, you can certainly ask the staff, they are more than happy to explain the item, but i didn't want to take up a bunch of our waiter's time with having to explain each item i was interested in. I ordered the stuff crab, and still don't know what it was stuff with : ) The food was DELICIOUS!!! We'll definitely be returning.
I had my first experience at this location today and it was wonderful from beginning to end! The entree, the drink, and the dessert were chef's kiss! Our server Jacob was also a 10/10 which makes a huge difference. They're very affordable and worth it all! The manager was also very sweet! I highly recommend attending. I'll definitely be going again. Thanks Pappadeaux ❤️
Just brought my mother in law, her brother from South California n his son here for dinner. Alejandro was a wonderful waiter. So glad he speaks Spanish as my mil is not bilingual. It made her feel at ease and very welcomed. He was very patient, attentive and accommodating with our orders. The food was fabulous as always and the servings were beyond adequate in size. Love this place My relatives were very happy especially since they have no Pappadeax in SoCal. Also they were very accommodating for our relative that can only eat gluten free. Thanks a milliin
First timers eating here, I want to say the experience was beyond what we are used to. From the door being held by staff with a smile and a welcome to the front end staff seating us and then "Josh" our server what an amazing host. From explaining the history of the family to the store to the food and so much more. If there is a reward that the manager or owner could do for him he definitely should get it what an amazing host from the beginning to the end... as for the food I highly recommend the Crab Cake before there gone I wish they would never take that off the menu, we will travel hours from Corpus Christi to come get that alone. Every item we ordered was beyond flavored and prepared like it should we had Crab Cakes fyi the best we have experience in our travels around the states and Canada, mozzarella sticks, seafood gumbo, Texas Red fish pontchartrain, and seafood tagliatelle pasta. All highly recommended. But once again we travel the country and by far the location the attention to detail and the staff absolutely amazing but I give a shout out again to Josh thank you for being a great host and making this experience worth coming again and we will. To the owners please keep the crab cakes all year round please. 😋
First time ever eating here, and let me tell you, it was phenomenal! The waiter was knowledgeable and beyond helpful. I went with one of his suggestions and, good grief, was it amazing!! The entire experience was superb. If you haven't been out here, you have got to visit! You can thank me later.
Wowwzers! What an amazing experience! My daughter and I made reservations for 4:15. We were seated by 3:50! 🤩 Our hostess and waitress were both fantastic! We were treated by any staff passing by. We felt very welcome! 🏡🫶 We both thoroughly enjoyed our food. The servings were massive! Today was the first time I’d ever had sword fish, and it was phenomenal! We can’t wait to go back with the whole family.
Stopped here because it’s Pappadeaux’s and we were staying at the Marriott next door. Food was fantastic and the Garden of Eden cocktail was delicious. The seafood platter was amazing and the side of spinach was a great substitute for french fries. Went around five, before the dinner rush and was able to be seated immediately.
We had an amazing experience! The appetizers were crispy fried calamari and grilled octopus with garlic bread—fresh and delicious. For the main course, we had Crispy salmon with jumbo lump crab And Wild-caught red snapper with shrimp, scallops, and crab Classic chicken tenders and fries. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Definitely recommend if you love seafood! And I will be back soon .
Our first time here and it was an amazing experience! The service was wonderful and the food was absolutely the best. May God bless the entire staff! Our server, Anthony, had such great vibes and a kind heart — he truly made us feel at home. We also had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Armando, who was just as welcoming. If I could give a million stars, I would!
We had not done here in two years. Very happy we chose this establishment. The meals were perfectly cooked and delicious, the service with Dimetri was impeccable, and the drinks were awesome. Venassa was very sweet, Josh was prompt with the refills, and Gwen was great with our entries. The best dining experience we have had here.
Hands down my fav spot when I'm even remotely close to one. So good I ate here twice in a 10 day period! Love the fresh, wild caught fish flown in daily, truffle potatoes and alligator with hot honey sauce. I also tried the fried fish platter to go and think I will use cheaper fish spots for fried fish. This one was ok but not something I would reorder. Go here for fresh, quality sea food prepared any way (especially blackened) besides fried. Still my fav spot and worth the 18 mi drive to visit!
Service Food atmosphere ambience selection bread seafood staff policy location best in San Antonio Texas parking speed of food arrival taste flavor amount of food military service and discount senior citizen selections all day any day yea I absolutely love this place lastly Absolutely no questions asked a FREE Dessert on you Birthday, and every time we leave we look at each other and say “Next Week”.
This place was amazing! We started with fried Calamari & Octopus and we order some greens Caesar Salad with Blackened Salmon was incredible, the salmon was perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with flavor. The Wild-Caught Red Snapper with Jumbo Crab was another standout, super fresh and full of delicious flavors, clean seafood quality. And the Pasta Mardi Gras was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and high-quality from start to finish. The restaurant is also a great spot for big groups, with plenty of space. Definitely a place I’d come back to for outstanding seafood and a great dining experience!
This was a great venue! Lively and relaxed atmosphere, lots of families enjoying/celebrating! Catfish was truly transcendent - delicious! Crawfish in its various iterations - great portions and delicious and well executed dishes. Sweet potato pecan pie was a perfect cap to the evening!
This was our first visit to Pappadeaux’s, and it certainly won’t be our last. We started with the Shrimp and Crawfish Fondu, which was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor—an appetizer that set the tone for the rest of the meal. For the main course, I had the shrimp étouffée, and it was outstanding: perfectly seasoned, hearty, and comforting without being heavy. My spouse ordered the jumbo shrimp brochette, which arrived beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked—tender shrimp wrapped in bacon with just the right amount of spice. Every bite showcased the kitchen’s attention to detail. To finish, we shared the vanilla cheesecake with strawberry syrup, a sweet and satisfying end to a flawless dining experience. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy each course. Overall, Pappadeaux’s delivered an excellent first impression—great food, warm service, and a menu that makes us excited to return and try more.
Been coming to Pappadeaux for over 20 years. Always excellent. A few issues though...the new crabcake is overpriced and has WAY too much filler. The old ones were better. Also you need to bring back the oysters due and other chargrilled oysters with different toppings on them like you used to offer! Huge hole in your offering. FINALLY at least this location no longer has a Happy Hour. Walked by the bar at 5:00 and NO ONE THERE. Huge mistake by some bean counter at Pappadeaux management!!!
We ordered crab fingers for an appetizer and they were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Even though they arrived after our entree. The entree came out super fast even before the appetizer and our salad but everything was delicious. Zach was a great waiter. Very disappointed that they had a kids menu for my kids to color but did not have crayons. My 3yo was very disappointed. They would have had fun coloring and doing the activities. My husband said that in other Pappadeaux's they bring out bread to everyone but they didn't here. The bacon the house salad was super crunchy and delicious. Will definitely order again.
Come here for special occasions. The food is on the pricier side but the flavors have always been satisfying and the portions large. The crab cakes are huge and have a ton of crab meat in them. The staff had always been friendly, attentive, and patient with elderly members of my family and their questions. I will say the dining room always feels a little cramp when they are busy, with the tables very close together, so unless you have a booth or table towards the window there isn't much privacy or intimacy.
My family went to Pappadeaux on February 15th, to celebrate a birthday. When we first arrived the hostess was not very nice. I assumed she was not having a good day and prepared for a disappointing dining experience. My family got the opposite. Our server, Javon, was fantastic. He was kind and attentive to my family. He had a tremendous attitude. My family can be needy, and somewhat extra, but Javon was patient. I appreciated his service and when we go back, I hope he is working so we can sit in his section.
Pappadeaux, a good experience, the service was good and the gentleman was friendly. The food was a bit overpriced for what you get. I had chicken pasta, and the chicken pieces were rather tiny. Drinks were tasty. The restaurant is very open, but they do maximize the seating to where you are pretty close to your neighbors at the other table, so you hear everything. I think a 4 is a solid rating, not really a place I would frequent on a regular basis, but if you have someone who enjoys seafood, it's a solid option.
Great Steak, Big Portions, and Solid Vibes — Next Time I’m Going for the Seafood I recently had dinner at Pappadeaux’s in San Antonio, and overall, it was a great experience. Known for their seafood, I decided to switch it up and go with the ribeye this time — and I’m glad I did, though next time I’ll definitely explore the seafood side of the menu. Let’s start with the ribeye: It was cooked beautifully — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. That said, I was expecting a bit more marbling and fat content, as ribeyes are usually on the fattier, richer side. This particular cut was a little leaner than anticipated. Still delicious, just not quite as indulgent as a classic ribeye should be. If you’re someone who likes your steak on the cleaner side without too much fat, you’d probably really enjoy it. For me, I just wanted a bit more of that buttery richness that a great ribeye is known for. The baked potato was a standout — absolutely massive, loaded just right, and served piping hot. It had the perfect combo of fluffy inside and a well-seasoned skin. You definitely won’t leave hungry. We also tried a couple of drinks, and they were solid. Nicely balanced, not overly sweet or weak like some chain restaurants can be. Whether you’re ordering a cocktail or sticking with wine or beer, the bar team here clearly knows what they’re doing. The atmosphere was just what you want for a night out — lively without being too loud, upscale without feeling stuffy. The place has a Southern coastal charm that makes it feel both comfortable and polished. Service was friendly and attentive, and we never felt rushed even though it was a busy evening. Final thoughts: If you’re looking for a reliable, well-executed dinner with generous portions and great service, Pappadeaux’s delivers. The ribeye was good, though maybe not the star of the menu. Next time I’ll be going for the seafood — after all, that’s their specialty. But based on this first visit, I’ll definitely be back.
We dined here with family while spending the night in San Antonio. The restaurant was packed as it was a Saturday evening on Eclipse weekend so service was very slow, but our server was attentive and very pleasant despite the crowds. The ambience is lovely and we really enjoyed the food - Only 4 stars for food because our food was warm, not hot. This may have been due to the crowds as my father in law did say that they had eaten there a few nights earlier and the food was hot and seemed much fresher. Still a very good experience and we would consider going back another time.
The food was delicious. I had a ribeye medium rare , it was cooked perfectly. The portions are a good amount it was too much to finish not enough to take home. My husband had the grouper and lumpcrab also amazing. I wish our sever had gotten the information from our reservation , the hostess we were celebrating our anniversary, not the end of the word. He celebrating in and kept our water and ice tea filled. I also had a peach sidecar, it was divine!!!! I works absolutely recommend. We got dessert to go. My only complaint is, it is so loud I was unable to enjoy my husband and have any meaningful conversation.
I've been to a different location previously in Dallas but this is my first time to this location. Everything about this restaurant is good. Good food, good atmosphere. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Excellent portions. I'm giving it 4 stars due to the price. From what I remember, they used to be a lot less expensive. Take my price remark with a grain of salt though because I haven't been to this chain in a hot minute and I know prices have gone up everywhere
Service could have been better. The server did not check on us enough and our drinks were empty a few times. The filet was a pretty big portion. It was cooked to the specified temperature. The catfish platter came out looking commercial worthy. However, a few of the strips were not cooked throughly. All in all it was a decent visit.
Sorry to say it was ok. I am sure people we rank this place higher will say it's what you ordered. Maybe that is the case. This was the first time we went. So maybe we had the standard experience. I ordered the ribeye, and my wife ordered the lobster. The ribeye was just ok, no flavor. It was like they were scared to put any seasoning on it. It was cooked to the way I liked it, but again, nothing special. The best thing was the baked potato. It was huge. My wife lobster was below par for her. As she said it, no taste. Bland. The bread they give, we had to ask for it, then ask for the whipped butter. It was Valentine days we can over look at. The knife was dirty, water stain, fork had gunk on it. Hardened. Again, people I spoke to either said you should have had the salmon, or yeah, that is not a good place. It was our first time, and later, down the road, we might try it again.
Checked into curbside at pick up time given by responding to text as instructed. After 15 min, I tried calling to check status of order but no answer for curbside option. After 20 min, went inside and was directed to take out area where my order was sitting on shelf. I told person at podium I had texted space number and tried calling but no answer. He said “we aren’t even trying to do curbside”. (Then why is it “available”?) Several other cars were waiting in curbside and I recommended to drivers to just go inside if they wanted their orders; at least two of them had not received responses to their checkin texts. Food was lukewarm when I got home and had to be reheated. Then opened bread and part of the loaf had been ripped off leaving the inside hard. For a restaurant that advertises service and at the price points paid, this was an unacceptable experience.
The service and atmosphere was delightful. The food was not tasteful at all. The fish was very bland and the gumbo tasted like what you get from the can. My wife's salad was very good. Pappadeaux it's time to improve your seasoning because this is the third location I've visited in November and the food was all the same (very bland) for the cost and name.
Pappadeaux is one of my favorite chain restaurants but this one has some room for improvement. They had difficulty finding my reservation but eventually found it without explanation. The truffle potatoes were sent out hard and under cooked, I sent them back and they came back swimming in garlic. I didn't eat them. The presentation was weak. Splashed on a plate in an unattractive way for the overall quality of the food. Deserts were best part! The service was slow but friendly. Lots of time laughing and talking in a group by the water station and the occasional swing by the table. Overall I cant give more than 3 stars which would be ok until you get the $168 for 2 people.
Seemed like a glorified "high price" fast food joint. The atmosphere was amazing. So beautiful and they actually have gas flame lanterns lighting the dinning area. Maybe for a Friday they were busy, yet the beard I was served was stale, the butter was still frozen, they brought it on a "not clean" and took several minutes to return with a clean plate. The catfish had more cheap store bought coating than actual fish (at least that all I could taste). The fries were Luke warm and soggy. The place was extremely loud to the point of almost not being able to hear the staff. The door staff seemed to care less about greeting guest and doing what ever their devices were telling them. I was visiting from out of town, and this place came highly recommended via my hotel. If you do decide to venture here, hopefully you will have a better experience than I. I hoping this was just a one off incident, yet I will never know.
Usually pappadeaux is a great go to spot but the ball was dropped crazy yesterday. The only thing my grandmother from out of town was to bring her back a order of the "Mardi gras shrimp" wich is supposed to be a special platter on the menu until Tuesday the 17th... unfortunately I didnt look in the to go bad before leaving but this is a picture online of how it is served and what I recieved
Horrible service at the bar. If I could give zero stars I would. Micah and Ms. Allison were horrible bartenders. I guess they wasn’t interested in waiting on us. They worked all around us and not one time did they ask us if we needed anything or if we were ok. Anything we wanted we had to ask them for it. We had drinks and if we wanted another we had to flag them down. People were coming in after us and got good service including food and drinks and they were very attentive to them. When we was ready to go we sat there and waited and they never gave us our check. A manager walked by and we asked her if she could give us our check because we were ready to go. We explained to her that we had been there a long time and all we wanted was our check because the bartenders never acknowledged us anymore after we got our drink when we first got there.
No longer worth going, cannot recommend. This used to be my favorite dinner spot to celebrate a birthday, graduation, or other achievement. Unfortunately, now it's not even worth taking the wife on a date to. The food has gone down hill for the price, and the management is horrible. The last two times (once at this location and once at the 1604 & I10 location) they were out of one order in our party and didn't notify us until after the rest of the food had come out. Then they offered a substitute, but happened to be out of the sides for that too. Never saw the manager for either occasion! We were not offered a price reduction for a plate that didn't include sides, and the food that did arrive was light on all of the "high dollar" ingredients that sell the dish. Overall, the professionalism and attentiveness of the management, and the teamwork between the wait staff and kitchen have plummeted. After these two embarrassing back-to-back experience at both locations, my wife and I will never go back. Its not a hiccup in service, it's a change in values and leadership that care about the table turnover instead of the customer. Such a disappointment after 10+ years of loving Pappadeaux.
I recently visited Pappadeaux’s on 410 in San Antonio, Texas, and I was really excited to enjoy a nice meal. I paid around $85 (not including tip) and was looking forward to having the blackened fish with rice and beans. Unfortunately, when I started eating, the fish was raw, tasteless, and overall horrible. The rice was hard and undercooked. I also ordered a bread pudding to-go, but they added vanilla ice cream despite me specifically requesting no ice cream. The ice cream melted all over the bag. The entire experience was incredibly disappointing. I called the restaurant to voice my concerns, and the response was very unprofessional. After a long day at work, all I wanted was a hot, delicious meal to relax with, but instead, it turned into a frustrating and unpleasant ordeal. General Manager, please train your staff better and emphasize the importance of treating customers with respect and delivering high-quality food and service, as we are the ones who support your business. The best service I've had from Pappadeaux has been at their I-10 location in San Antonio, where the service is consistently excellent.
Not a very sophisticated place. I'd give it some grace of it wasn't at the price point it maintains. Server was not well informed, food came out in three sporadic waves -with one entree being a half hour late, alcohol orders and instructions were forgotten, utensils forgotten, and children's drinks were inappropriately dispensed over the kids. Zero attention to detail overall. Just a frustrating amount of slip ups and wastd time that ruined our experience. I do think that the waitstaff works hard here, but overall there seems to be varying inefficiencies.
I had ordered the "new orleans bbq shrimp" to go and yesterday/today is the last day to enjoy such a great meal...I never asked for the greens so im assuming they they just automatically substituted my garlic toast for whatever they had in the back. Couldn't even taste bbq jus salt highly disappointed even in the case that if they were out of garlic toast then let me make a decision on the different options that you may have
