Lucha Libre Taco Shop San Diego Reviews
Living in San Diego for quite some time, and spending most of my life here, you would think many of the well known Mexican restaurants and taco shops around the city would already be familiar. Somehow that was not the case, so the decision was made to visit a spot that has long been a favorite among locals and visitors. That restaurant is Lucha Libre Taco Shop. The moment you walk in, the vibrant colors on the walls and the luchadores (Mexican Wrestlers) decor create an energetic and playful atmosphere. Instead of ordering at a counter, guests place their orders on two tablets near the entrance, and the staff calls out your letter when your food is ready. The process felt smooth and convenient. The food was excellent, cooked with care and seasoned perfectly. The salsas were full of flavor and paired beautifully with each dish. The staff members were friendly, outgoing, and very helpful, which added to the overall experience.
The food is so good. All of the menu items can be ordered to make with vegan meat. Jackfruit is used for vegan meat. You can taste all authentic Mexican food and vegan. Salsa bar is another highlight, It can satisfy a toddler with creamy sause and an adult as well with insane spicy habenro.
Surf and turf burrito and the chicken champion fries were awsome
There’s a lot taco shops in San Diego. This one stands out with a unique menu, veggie options and really fun atmosphere. I had a pork, pineapple, cactus taco on a corn tortilla and a fries taco w different queso’s and enchilada sauce on a flour tortillas. The salsas were great. I got caught up on wrestling diva action while I waited!
Food: Tasty! The birria taco had a real kick to it compared to others I have bad before. I really enjoyed all three tacos that I had. Service: Self checkout with minimal interaction with staff, so defaulting to 5. Atmosphere: Awesome. Just see the other photos. Overall, closing remarks: Delicious food, but doesn't come cheap. Somewhere I will likely be eating at infrequently. My chips didn't come with any salsa or dipping sauce. I might have missed these if they were sitting out for self service. Something to dip them in would have been nice. The chips were hot and good even on their own, though!
All the tacos were amazing. Beef my favorite. Salsa bar and fresh chips fantastic. So friendly too! Horchata!! What a fun memorable stop. -updating after many more trips- OMG the birria!! Get the burned cheese! Also the polla quesa taco stole the show! Delicious horchata, cucumber drink (SO FRESH!) and lemonade, we've never had something less than amazing here! I come from Norcal to eat here!
Fantastic atmosphere and theme. Would have received 5 stars of they had luchador wrestling on TV instead of WWE type rerun.
Lucas Libre is a good little taco shop near the San Diego airport. If you are a wrestling fan you will probably enjoy this place. There are a bunch of pictures of both US and Mexican wrestlers. The food is good and the service is great. The have a bunch of different salsa to have with your food and chips. I usually visit it once or twice a year when I travel to San Diego.
First time here in San Diego, and first time at Lucha Libre. I saw a YouTube on this place for good eats. This place was just ok. Unfortunately there was nothing to rave about. I had the Birria Cali, my wife had the Surf Cali, and my son had the Champion Fries with steak. The burritos had too many fries in it and it was the thick soggy fries. The birria lacked taste which was unfortunate. My wife liked her burrito, but still, didn't like the fries. My son's Champion fries was lacking the champion in it. The steak wasn't seasoned that great, and again, lots of soggy fries. It's kind of hard to give a good review after going to Taco El Gordo the night before in Gaslamp.
If you're into cozy spots with a ton of character, you've got to check out this place. The place is small but super cool, with Lucha Libre-themed pictures covering every inch of the walls. It's got a fun, laid-back vibe that makes it perfect for a casual bite. The food? Amazing. Tried the Vegan Birria Burrito, and it was so good I'm still thinking about it. The Cauliflower Queso Tacos were just as tasty, and the salsa bar? Absolute gold. The salsas are free, unlimited, and ridiculously good. Staff is friendly and order came in fast. 4 stars coz there aren't a ton of vegetarian options, but what they do have is so flavorful. If you're down for a chill spot with great food and a lot of personality, this place is a total win.
Lucha Lucha. I first tried you with the homies about 14 years ago or so, and you put me on surf and turf. Present day, you were not the same. You lost your touch Shrimp was rubber 🐤ee Had more rice than meat For $18, a burrito, I feel like i got finessed But I see I paid only for the same name I came for years ago, today. Lucha Libre I brought the family this time around, yet they did not leave as happy as I did the first time I came by. Until next time Lucha Libre step it up! Peace ✌️ and Love ❤️
