Beanstalk Cafe San Francisco Reviews
High up at the tippy top of the hills of San Francisco, those of us who prefer to stay there rather than climb the steep ascent up are fortunate that Beanstalk is there. This gem is quaint yet full of flavor, feels, excellence service. I had delicious coffee and a sandwich there for lunch. You will be greeted warmly, and then your order taken swiftly. Your coffee will be served in a unique cup, which seemed to me more like pottery meant for a small plant. Yet it was a fine touch, especially considering that coffee is of course from nature, and therefore the cup is fitting. The coffee has a distinct flavor that you will not find in a commercial coffee shop. There are many sandwich choices, and mine was served warm, and I was able to alter it slightly to my pleasing. So, if you feel stuck at the top of the hill as I did — because I certainly was not in the mood for mountain climbing when I stumbled into Beanstalk, it is a delightful place to go.
Got a plain bagel with cream cheese, very good bagel, tastes “real.” Iced latte with vanilla syrup was fine, cup was cool.
This has been the Best coffee we have had in San Francisco! Great staff, cute atmosphere and the bagel was delicious. Great spot:)
Everytime I go to San Francisco, I ALWAYS come here for breakfast. I would always get a chai and the bulgogi sandwich but last time I was there they said they didn’t make the sandwich anymore 😔 i was so so so sad, you guys should bring it back!! It was my faavvvvorite in the world!! I love your place so much and would do anything to have that sandwich back 😭 🙏
All staff were super nice. Pesto turkey sandwich was delicious - bread was soft yet crunchy, and all ingredients tasted fresh. I also had the specialty coffee - taro latte - YUM! Everything was priced so reasonably too. Will definitely come back.
Stumbled across this place. Flat white was great, they know how to make a good coffee. The bagels were tasty as well and not overpriced. Service was good. Would come back!
Nice and casual place with delicious sandwiches, bagels and coffee and...! We went there every day for breakfast during our stay to avoid the bad and overpriced food in the hotel. If there was a place like that near us, I would go there regularly. Great! The interesting sandwich combinations are worth mentioning, e.g. Funky Town or Cranberry Turkey. 😋
A more intimate cafe with enough seating for you to enjoy a light breakfast and a couple laughs over coffee. I found the crogel and lux (croissant/bagel with smoked salmon) to over perform expectations, there was something about the mixed greens in there that just balanced everything and was refreshing!
Came here with a few friends of mine while visiting the city. Was looking for a breakfast spot with some good coffee, and we ended up here at Beanstalk. The Food: I went with a "Lox Bagel" and a "Dirty Chai Latte". The Lox bagel was good! Had a good amount of lox on the bagel, with plenty of greens to pair it with. I enjoyed it a lot. The Dirty Chai Latte was delicious as well. That Chai flavor was well there and it wasn't too sweet. The Service: Service was good. Staff were friendly. This place can get really busy in the morning, so come early or be prepared to wait for a bit. However, the food/drinks do come out in a timely manner. The Atmosphere: This spot is quite small. Not that many places to sit here, so most of the time I saw people just ordering their foods to go. Overall, a 4/5. Very good breakfast spot to grab yourself a bagel/sandwich and some coffee. I'd recommend giving this place a try.
Quiet place with great coffee and breakfast. Staff are quiet but pleasant. Great ambience to chill out and enjoy your cup of coffee - I had a mocha that was not too sweet and had a really nice balance of coffee and chocolate - most places make it such that you can barely taste the coffee. I also really enjoyed the egg salad on onion bagel. Definitely worth a visit.
Today was my first time trying this place. I got the Sando bagels with cream cheese added into it and a cappuccino. The cappuccino came out first & it was burnt unfortunately, then the food came out and it was also burnt unfortunately. The sandwich had slices of sausage which I had never seen before & they did not have much flavor. Would probably not get that again. I was disappointed this time but I am willing to try again with something else. I am willing to assume maybe someone new is training. I believe you have to try a place more than once to really scope it out. The cashier who was maybe in his 20's-30's (male) was nice & welcoming & so was the asian older woman. They were both sweet & that is probably what would make me give it another shot 🙏🏽
Got their breakfast sando, it wasn’t bad but the price felt a tad bit high for the size. Also the staff isn’t unfriendly but.. they’re rather stoic. Since it’s a coffee house you sort of want a bit of a warm and friendly ambiance. This felt more transactional. But the food did taste good for what it was.
The food and coffee was good, and overall the ambience is cool. The coffee tasty. Washroom really clean. However the server (male) with long hair was not as friendly. He pretended he did not understood us in English or either Spanish and eded up giving us food that we did not ordered. Too bad that we had this experience.
I stopped by this café and paid about $17 for a coffee and bagel. Pricing felt reasonable for the area, and I knew going in that they have a 90-minute seating limit plus a $10 minimum if you want Wi-Fi. I arrived around 9:30am and was planning to leave before the 90-minute mark — or order another drink — so it felt a bit strange when a staff member came to my table at the 60-minute mark and asked me to leave, especially since my bagel was only halfway finished. It was even more surprising because the café wasn’t busy at all and there were several empty tables. Not the end of the world, just something to be aware of if you’re hoping to stay a while. Overall, the place is fine, but it doesn’t really give off the cozy, neighborhood SF coffee shop vibe. The coffee is basic drip you could easily make at home, and the bagel is pretty standard too. It feels more like a plug-and-play café than a spot with much personality. With so many great coffee shops nearby, I’d probably choose another place next time.
