Cafe De Casa San Francisco Reviews
Café de Casa has a beautiful atmosphere and really delicious food. I definitely recommend coming here for the food alone — it’s absolutely worth it. Unfortunately, the matcha was not a good experience. It was remade three times and still tasted very watered down. I was hoping the staff might offer to make it right, maybe by suggesting a different drink, but that didn’t happen, which was a little disappointing. That said, I don’t want to leave a bad rating because the food and environment are truly a must-try. I would still recommend this place to others — just skip the matcha and enjoy the amazing food.
Great food and service. Not like anything I have had before. Went back twice while we were here, everything was amazing!!
The food and service were truly high-end, and everything was full of flavor. There was a small miscommunication about the tapioca crêpe, but the manager handled it incredibly well — attentive, professional, and genuinely committed to making our experience better. The issue was fixed right away, and the final dish was absolutely delicious. Overall, a great restaurant with excellent management and thoughtful service. Highly recommend!
A very COOL slot! A gem I would say!! A great spot in the waterfront area without a lot of great options around. Brazilian offer g with unique crepes made from Tapioca (a little bit tough in my opinion). Very fun and unique coffee menu and breakfast and dessert treats. Well decorated and big with great energy and slots to work from for a little while. Highly recommend going in and checking it out, especially if you’re gluten free as there are fun new options easily labeled to try.
The food was delicious beautiful and fresh. We tried things we've never had and enjoyed them all. The kibe had an amazing cheese inside with a meat and flour mix around it that had a very rye like flavor to it. The coxihna has a very delicate type pastry around a chicken olive filling which tasted like the same filling in the torta de frango(chicken pot pie) also had the Abracadinho de salsicha which was tasty the turkey sausage had a very similar texture to a hotdog more than the expected sausage I was thinking it would be though. The pasteis are such a thin pastry they puffed full of air when fried giving a great pocket to put the shredded cabbage in with the beef or cheese inside The breakfast sandwich- egg avocado and bacon was delicious as well and was the first thing eaten so no picture🤤
Read a few reviews on google and absolutely agreed. Went in for lunch with friends; all 3 of us had the Milanese Sandwich which was delicious. Nice crispy fries too. Also enjoyed an Espresso, not the greatest but very drinkable and served in super cute cups. Definitely worth a visit.
Very cute minimalist cafe. Reminds me of the ones in Rio except the “gluten free” items taste as described. Was a bit disappointed in the cheesy bread/Pão de queijo. The presentation is great. Food was just ok. I’d come here for the coffee and vibes.
Came here today for the first time, we don’t live in SF so we didn’t know this place until this afternoon. The coffee was good, and I really like the idea of offering tapioca crepes, that’s a great touch and something you don’t see everywhere. They also offer frozen menu to go. Their service could be better. The guy at the register was pretty meh, disinterested and not very welcoming, which took away a bit from the experience.
Before our visit to San Francisco from the UK we made a point to find places that are different and not chains. We visited Cafe de Casa for breakfast and chose a selection of waffles, pastries and pancakes. The cheese waffles with dulce de leche and chocolate syrup were absolutely delicious - my children enjoyed the tapioca pancakes and my wife fell in love with her fruit salad. The atmosphere was great - it was busy but still friendly and the prices were better than other breakfast places in the area. I would say that the coffee was expensive but it is delicious and obviously a labour of love for the baristas.
I went to Café de Casa yesterday for lunch and ordered the chicken parmigiana. The food was good, with a very generous portion — you definitely get a lot. However, I felt it was a bit too oily, especially the rice, which had a strong oil taste. It didn’t ruin the meal, but it could have been lighter. The service, in my opinion, could have been better. The person who helped me seemed too serious, not very attentive or friendly. It felt more like a robotic service, without that extra care for the customer. The atmosphere was busy (the place was pretty full when I went), so it’s not the kind of spot I’d choose to relax, like at a Starbucks. Overall, the experience was okay: good food, but not impressive, and service that could improve.
This was our first time visiting Casa de Café and trying their tapioca crepes. The texture was definitely unique — a bit different from what we were expecting, and it took some getting used to. The coffee, however, was excellent and probably the highlight of our visit. I ordered the omelet crepe, which had good flavor overall but was unfortunately too salty. My wife ordered the Romeo and Juliet crepe, and she found the texture too odd to eat, but again this was our first time having tapioca crepes . Overall, it was an interesting experience, but the food didn’t quite meet our expectations. The coffee alone might bring us back, but we’d probably try something different next time.
I’m writing this review with honest feedback because I truly believe this place has potential. I first visited in the morning for breakfast, and later returned around 1:00 PM with a group from work. Unfortunately, when we arrived at 1:00 PM, there was almost nothing left in the display. I felt embarrassed bringing my coworkers there and finding so few options available, especially after speaking highly of the bakery. The empadas did not have the authentic Brazilian-style crust I’m familiar with, and I didn’t enjoy them as much as I expected. The beef crepe also did not seem freshly made; it appeared to be pre-prepared and assembled when ordered. For a restaurant of this size and reputation, maintaining proper inventory during peak hours is very important. It was also difficult to find parking, and after finally arriving with my group, there was very little available to purchase. Additionally, I found the pricing quite high — paying over $5 for bread with butter felt excessive. I’ve visited many Brazilian bakeries across the U.S., and I had high expectations for this one. Two years ago, I visited your smaller location, and at that time the quality and pricing were noticeably better. I’m sharing this feedback because I would genuinely like to see improvements and have a better experience next time. I hope this is taken as constructive feedback.
Cheese sandwich with avocado, tomato was stale , crepe was dry like premade and left out both tasted stale and staff was very unprofessional wearing hoodie and behaving very rude. I don’t recommend and above all so over priced and expensive for very bad food. Coffee was okay. Rest everything was worst.
