Cantina Los Mayas was really good. The waiters and chef were genuinely kind, friendly, and welcoming, and the overall vibe made the experience even better. Portions are big and the prices are very budget-friendly, so it felt like great value. We started with the ceviche—it was spicy, but super balanced with a fresh pineapple-lime flavor that made it bright and refreshing. We also ordered the queso fundido, and it was a highlight: a creamy, milky blend of cheeses with chorizo, and I loved the little candle underneath that kept it warm the whole time. For my main dish, I got the mariscos served in a pineapple. It hit that perfect sweet-and-spicy combo, and the two roasted shrimp were honestly so delicious. I just wish it came with a few more shrimp, but overall the rest of the seafood was filling and satisfying. The only thing I was expecting a bit more from was the salsas—I hoped for stronger flavor and more heat. That said, they were still good. Also, the location is great and easy to find, and parking nearby was pretty easy, which made the whole night even smoother.

Loved everything we ordered. The quesadilla was slightly under-seasoned but the meat was incredibly tender. The flan was also delicious.

Enjoyed everything! We reserved the table in the back room which had a television playing old black and white Latin movies. We almost over ordered (because everything on the menu sounded so good), so great thing that our server guided us. We sampled all of the tacos which already can get quite filling. It was a group of us so we got the dessert platter to cap it all off.

I came for brunch 10a- 1:30p Sat and Sun- wonderful food, everything is made in house. Theyre open for dinner with a really nice quite extensive Mexican wine menu. Come eat and enjoy. 5th Ave & balboa across from Cinderella

We randomly stopped at this place looking for something to eat with my wife. The area is full of options, but they seemed to have the best vibe on a Sunday night. The staff was warm, courteous, and knowledgeable. The food was delicious, and we tried different wines while learning about them. Juventino took the time to share insights about different wines and the Mexican wine industry, which was a big deal for us since we work in the industry. I’m extremely happy to see people who still genuinely care about service, what I like to call real hospitality. Thank you, guys. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Had a delicious bday dinner here. The food and drinks were delicious. Enjoyed all of our dishes and would have loved to order more from their menu. Drink options were ample and they had an extensive wine list as well.

Food here is delicious, fresh and unique to the Yucatán area. Favorite dish was the mixed dessert platter and pumpkin seed dip. Service was on the slow side, took us an hour to get our appetizer, but they comped us with a free dip. Service then picked up. Ambience is nice and ideal for a nice sit down dinner. Would come again.

A great dinning experience! Make sure you make a reservation because it gets busy and it’s a bit tricky to find parking. The appetizers are not too big so they are great to share. I enjoyed the selection of Mexican wines and highly recommend trying the Bruma wines available. Incredible flavors that celebrate Mexican cuisine. Great service, but they do get busy so keep that in mind. Definitely coming back!

Amazing restaurant! The food is outstanding and the amount of care they put into everything (including the service) is so clear and rare these days. The lamb chops are fantastic. Definitely get a few small plates to try as well. Our server was so lovely. He gave us a ton of information on both the food and wines. I got to sample a few wines before deciding and they were excellent. I love that they offer half glasses, makes it easier to try a variety. Go here and tell your friends about this neighborhood gem too! ♥️

My friend and I sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and he was very knowledgeable about the wine. He let us try different wines before we chose which one we wanted to drink. The food was absolutely delicious! I asked them for a spicy salsa and they made a salsa right in front of me just for me!!! I definitely will return. this place was a gem of a find.

Authentic, thoughtful, DELICIOUS food! COME!!! The service with Jessica was excellent! She even let us try multiple wines until we found the right one. The exclusive Mexican wine list was not only comprehensive and kindly priced, but they also took the time to provide some history/context to the Mexican wine scene. Which I appreciated. Despite it being very busy the entire team found ways to make us feel special and cared after. Vibe was soooo good! Welcoming ambiance, very fair prices and BEST MAYAN FOOD IN SF/USA????? can’t say enough good things! Exceptional experience. Go!

Loved the different house made salsas. Chips were fresh. Pozole was good. They have a great selection of wines. It was really exciting to see all the wines from different parts of Mexico. Mole was too Smokey for my friend. Lamb chops were cooked well. Churros we’re okay.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday, glad that we had reservations, food was amazing! It was a different, more creative take on Mexican food than the standard Mexican restaurant. So flavorful and fresh, we shared two small plates and one regular and it was perfect. Special shout-out to the Jicama Tacos - amazingly delicious. However, I kept wondering how the heck can I cut Jicama like that at home?!?

Really great place. Food was really good and different. The salsa other than the green, I have never tried before but incredible good. The steak with eggs was superb, the ennsalada tasty and so we're the enchiladas. The server did an amazing job, you can swe that he cares. I will come back.

This is a very nice restaurant with a beautiful design and a convenient location. The menu offers a good variety of dishes at reasonable prices, and overall the food was delicious. Ssshhh, let's keep this between us. This small store front on an unassuming neighborhood business street is a hidden gem in the Richmond District of San Francisco. Great service and pleasant atmosphere along with their excellent Mexican food, changes this neighborhood restaurant to a destination for great dining. Enjoy!

Decor and food were excellent. Food was tasty and had a great taste even for something as simple as a cheese quesadilla. Service is not so great since our waiter assumed that we would understand Mexican words in the menu. Questions weren’t entertained well and the response was it’s all written in the menu. Anyway, after pushing and asking a lot of questions realized that there was pork in something I was going to order and I am a vegetarian. They got two of our items wrong too. Service can be better to make this place top notch.
