Publico San Francisco Reviews
loved the tacos & guacamole. BREAKFAST TACOS HIGHLY RECOMMEND! very nice hostess. lots of outdoor dining.
The nacho and taco were a perfect combination! You can enjoy delicious Mexican food culture in this restaurant! The staff were also nice and kind!
We don't always go to UCSF, but when we do, we eat here. Great, quick, polite. My daughter had a routine scooter fall and they instinctively offered a band aid for her elbow.
This is one of the best Mexican cuisine place ever in the city. I’ve been living in the city for quite a long time and the taste of almost every menu in this place has been amazingly good. Staffs have been always very kind. Definitely two thumbs up. My favorite place near Mission Bay neighborhood.
Absolutely blown away by Public Urban Taqueria. The owner is incredibly friendly, passionate, and clearly takes pride in both the food and the experience. The menu is refreshingly creative, and the quality of ingredients is genuinely top-tier — you can taste the difference in every bite. Both the chicken and beef are halal, and the flavors are spot on. Been there many times with no issues at all. Today though there was a small mix-up with my order where I received chicken instead of beef, but the owner handled it perfectly. He made it right immediately, all with a smile, and even let me keep the corrected order — now that’s how you do customer service. The weekly specials are a must-try — unique, well-crafted, and definitely worth checking out. This spot is a gem, and I’ll be coming back regularly.
These guys are great! They handled our big group without notice. Had us taken care of in probably 45 minutes everyone was eating. Suggested
The people here are just marvelous. I love this place. Food is first rate. Love the fresh avocados.
California Burrito was the BEST burrito I have ever tasted! The Carne Asada was extremely flavorful, not tough at all. The rice was great and fluffy, too.
I would recommend the vegetarian burrito for vegetarians. The ingredients used are fresh. I have been eating here at least twice a month or more as its close to my office. The service is also pretty quick.
The street tacos were reasonably priced and delicious! The employees were very customer service oriented
Last time I was here, I had a Baja fish taco, and it was delicious and bigger than I expected: def big enough for lunch all by itself. That said, I have eaten a vegetarian burrito here in the past (maybe a year ago) that gave me a pretty serious stomachache. So I'm still wary, but the food is pretty tasty. I like their extra crispy chips and their guac.
Good go-to place for a quickie burrito and such for work folks at Mission Bay. Gets busy during lunch hour, and a bit pricey to eat regularly. The salad takes awhile so anticipate a wait to stay healthy, but it is worth the wait. Everything else churns out pretty fast.
The prices are a little high. The fish and chips burrito is novel and it's rather tasty. The fish comes out crisp and the avocado was fresh. The store is fairly small so it may be better to plan ahead if you want some lunch.
Yum! Used to come here during lunch and the only thing I would get is their California burrito (has fries inside). The fries were crispy and not soggy which meant it was fresh! I also order their coke in a bottle (i.e. Mexican coke which is so good, it has cane sugar). Haven't ordered anything else here so can't say much on their other items.
Publico has the BEST FISH TACO ever!!! They use grilled fish in their fish tacos which is a great alternative to most fish tacos with fried fish. Their burritos are yummy too. I'm sure I'll live off of Publico if I live around this area.
Make sure be specific to your order like fish tacos (grilled) vs baja fish tacos (fried) & Tostaditas (steak)
Definitely a middling burrito experience, but in the UCSF Mission Bay corner of the city, it's the only one in town. My go-to is the cali burrito, with french fries in it. So very satisfying if you work in the area and crave burritos. It's smack in the middle of the campus, so there's always a huge lunch line, but it moves fast.
Pretty big lunch rush since there aren't a whole lot of options around. I had the super burrito with chips and the agua fresca and all of it was average by San Francisco standards. It's a good place to grab a quick bite, but not a must eat if you are looking for the best burrito in the city.
If you enjoy greasy taco spots this place is for you. I normally don't write a review if it's bad but the super carnitas quesadilla was so greasy I couldn't eat it.
Ordered a vegetarian burrito. Woke up with my stomach messed up. I just confirmed they use PORK in the refried beans. And they don’t tell anyone unless they ask. Público- it’s common sense if someone wants a VEGETARIAN burrito - they don’t want PORK in it! How is this so hard to understand?? I’ll now spend the next 2-3 days in pain and agony. I should sue. Público I suggest you learn from this. I did and I won’t be returning.
