What Customers Say About Sankaku
Sankaku is a convenient option for a quick Japanese meal inside SFO. Many appreciate the fresh, hot food and quick service, especially the teriyaki chicken bowl and udon. However, some find the food overpriced and quality inconsistent, with occasional issues like dry salmon or soggy rice.

Sankaku San Francisco Reviews
This place is great for air travelers. They offer chicken, beef, tofu and veggie plate options depending on what you like. The bowls are a good size and fresh. You would pay the same amount for a burger combo next door at Burger King. I recommend the teriyaki chicken or the curry chicken and rice. Both hit the spot.
Salmon bowl was much better than expected for quick airport food.
Let me put you on: get the sushi platter AND an iced latte from Kleins deli or an iced chai from sidewalk juice and you’ll have the best airport meal ever 🙂↕️🛫
Surprisingly decent prices for an airport. We got our food immediately and it was good. No complaints.
Great chicken soba (noodles were a bit overcooked but hey its an airport restaurant, we can cut them some slack). The dish does not look too appetizing at first but once you start digging in you cannot stop. Chicken breast was grilled and was juicy. The bone broth is tasty and has the right amount of fat. Sushi does not look too bad but I did not try it
The bento box tastes fine for airport food quality. Salmon was a little dry but let it soak in the sauce and then it turns out good. The chicken teriyaki was soaked in teriyaki sauce but good for the ones who love teriyaki sauce. The California roll pieces were good too.
Honestly wasn’t expecting much for airport udon but it exceeded expectations. Did not skimp on the meat and broth was delicious! Price was steep but expected for airport fare.
Fresh food, good portions for the price, great authentic Japanese flavors. Glad to have this quality of food at SFO. Beef curry and salmon bowl were 👌
Got a teriyaki chicken bowl and seaweed salad for $22. The rice was sticky and we'll cooked. Plenty of teriyaki sauce and enough chicken for me and my husband to share before our flight. Waited less than 5 minutes for my order.
Although they are just a common food stand and the taste is nothing outstanding, I am always grateful of Japanese quick bite inside the security point. Tempura udon or just regular udon is a good choice for your breakfast. I may stay away from the deluxe udon next time, as meat and shrimp tempura don't match up well in a bowl.

I never expected to have ramen at the airport food court! I love this place; the ramen is hot and tastes delicious. The spicy chicken rice is also good in terms of both price and portion.
Maybe the best airport food I’ve ever had, especially for the price! I saw a pilot order from there and said he eats there often. I got the chicken curry rice bowl and the gyoza. Then, on the plane, my flight attendant said the same thing; she was having the teriyaki salmon. I’ll be going through SFO again soon and I will definitely be getting it again!
Absolute best airport food at SFO, and perhaps of any restaurant in any airport. I’ve tried the veg sushi, miso soup, chicken teriyaki bowl, green tea. Everything is SO hot, so fresh, and so quick! I fly out of SFO a few times a month, and have started getting to the airport early (!) just to pick up food from here on the way to the gate. Last week, I grabbed to go food after I landed at SFO to eat at home - that’s how good it is!

I usually have pretty low standards with airport food, but this place stood out to me. I ordered the deluxe udon without expecting much. After handing me a big bowl of udon with many varieties, I was impressed. The udon was great although it was a bit overpriced compared to outside food.
Great looking sushi place in San Francisco airport right next to gate 71B just across the way from the Compass Book Store. Lots of seating available. They have an interesting looking sushi a la carte option on the menu as well as all the regular sushi and noodle and vegetarian options. Departure board right next to it so you can keep an eye on your next flights boarding status.
Avocado rice rolls are the only choice I have when I come here at 10 pm. The taste is really clean, not greasy they gave a lot of soy sauce that I didn't use.
The chicken teriyaki bowl wasn’t bad at all. About $16 with tax. I would ask for it without the peas and corn since they taste like they came out of a can. The chicken and rice reminded me of the taste of flame broiler.
I had the spicy tuna roll and the dragon roll. I decided to pass on the nigiri. I thought the dragon roll was good but the spicy tuna wasn't spicy at all. However, all the textures were there. I'd go again if I was craving sushi at the airport.
Dec 2023 Increasing the rating to 4 star though much of the comments below still remain the same. I am increasing to 4 stars as the sushi we tried a few days ago were not so bad. I would still suggest "profitability through better value and customer-oriented services." Below from 2018 This place is a good example of the state of the restaurants at SFO where a little bit more value (and some courteousness for this one) could make buyers leave with the good feeling of it being an oasis (something to look forward as a break) along tiresome journeys rather than feeling gauged as a captive customer... Had their tempura udon. A bit salty, insufficient amount of broth, stale and lukewarm tempura, and no vegetable tempura... all for 18 dollars with a drink. A business model change (customer and not just bottomline centric at the expense of quality, valu, and service) should help make this a far more enjoyable AND profitable. Come to think of it, such a change could be useful in many airports, like ORD. Perhaps city municipalities (or the landlords) should mandate such prerequisite on their tenants as they are the initial faces of the city...

Ramen was good! Service was horrible! Cranky lady taking my order was very rude! I was about to walk out but wanted ramen
We had the tempura Udon at 10am on a Saturday. The tempura was still crispy which is great! The seaweed and the fish cake was good. The Udon was nice and al dente. The soup is average. We would have given it a 3.5 but it is not really a 4 level. This is very good for an airport restaurant. Both were $14.95 which we felt is reasonable, even for a restaurant outside the airport. If the soup was better this would be a solid 4!
So sad, I used to like this place a few yards ago. Tries for the first time in a few years and it is borderline unbeatable. The quality has gone down for the tempura udon. Maybe other dishes are good. Hope they fix this and go back to the good quality again.
Dragon roll (4 stars) - best thing I ate here, unagi was good and hard to screw up. Tempura udon (3 stars) - noodles were bland, but not awful if you want a warm bowl of salty liquid. Sashimi platter (2.5 stars) - Fish quality was mid and they provide regular rice instead of sushi rice.

Decent for a quick bite, but it wasn't quality food. I ordered a salmon bowl. Thankfully I grabbed a couple packets of soy sauce because it was very dry. Everything was dry. Also the service was not great. The ladies behind the counter we're talking to each other and not really caring that there was customers standing in front of them at the cash registers. The acted like I was bothering them because I wanted to order food.
Buyer be aware. Lady at front added 2 more plates to the receipt. When we questioned ourselves in front of her so strange 100 dollars for 3 plates and a few other small items (each plate was about 14 bucks), she remained silent. This went on for a few more seconds we repeated to ourselves and eventually I told my wife let’s ask for a receipt. The moment we told her give me a receipt she spoke up and said she had heard 5. This whole time we had said why 100 for 3 various times in front of her she stayed silent. The moment we asked for receipt she said she charged us for 5. She later turned around spoke to someone in their language and laughed. I am not surprised they rob clients due to no one looking or thinking due to rush of airports. If I would not have asked for my receipt she would taken an extra like 30 bucks.
Paid $21 for this bowl. Salmon was hard like a rock. Water $5 Attitude of the lady serving was 0 stars
Spicy chicken bowl is large chunky stewed chicken with very soggy rice. Worst Asian food I’ve had. I should order the Burger King next to it, which won’t go wrong. There is a 5% employee benefit surcharge.

Bought a bento of sushi and drink for $29 . Lady at cash register seemed disturbed and pushy to get rid of me. Food is not worth the price, dry and average at best.

It’s a bit disappointing. Walked around the San Francisco airport working up an appetite and finally decided on the bento box. A strange sort of bento, with no soup, gyoza, or tempura. Included two proteins: boiled, bland, oldish chicken with canned Teriyaki sauce and dry, fishy salmon. The only thing edible were the 3 pieces of California roll and the diet coke. For airport prices I would hope the food would at least rise to the level of being mediocre or average. Instead it held the distinction of being literally the worst “teriyaki” I’ve ever had. I ended up throwing most of it away and going somewhere else. And the second time, checked the reviews. Avoid.
Sankaku turned out to be the worst food I've ever eaten at the airport. I got the beef curry, but it wasn't beef. It was just poor-quality meat with a lot of fat. I would call it "meat fat curry." It was almost enough to make me puke. The curry sauce was also terrible. If you're charging $18 for a meal, you should give people some quality. For $5, I can get a fast food burger that I know will be good. But after eating this "beef curry," I feel sick. Maybe the other food at Sankaku is good, but I wouldn't recommend the beef curry.
By far the worst meal I’ve ever had. A block of raw tofu with microwaved peas and corn and rice, with Wal Mart teriyaki sauce. The Burger King I had during the same layover at SFO was Michelin star restaurant good in comparison. I chuckled a bit when I opened the lid on my bowl because by the looks of it I knew it would be horrible. I’ll be telling stories to my grandkids about what I expect will be the most uninspired meal meal of my life.
$16 for pink chicken 👍🏼 incredibly unfriendly cashiers - i know being food service sucks but taking it out on others is not the play
Absolutely horrendous teriyaki chicken, as all the other reviews echo. Was served within 30 seconds of ordering. Had 2 bites and went straight to the garbage. Embarrassing even for airport standards. Apparently the grab & go is tolerable.
Just ordered and the chicken is very gross. Would only recommend veggie there. Had to toss the chicken…
After we ordered food we looked for a table. There was an empty table with a tray and trash the previous person left. It was the only table open so we brought the tray back to the restaurant. Owner lady told us to either put it back on the table and go sit somewhere else or go throw away this trash for her. Idk why she couldn’t just take the tray when we did an extra step for her and removed it from their table. We are traveling with an infant and just made life just a bit more difficult for us.
