The Interval San Francisco Reviews
Pasting my message I sent to the bar themselves: Hi I was present at your bar from about 7:30 until 10PM on the evening of Friday 2/6/2026. I'm writing because: You had an incredibly thoughtful bouncer that night. Pink haired fellow. He kept the place at the exactly perfect capacity where there was a very warm social vibe, but ordering drinks and moving around had no friction. Incredibly thoughtful and polite person, he treated his role as a craft. The bartenders on staff that evening were also incredible. It was a busy night and I wasn't the sharpest patron, probably ordering slower than I should have. But the rhythm behind the bar was so crisp, and the young lady on staff remembered my drinks when I pivoted 2 mins after ordering. The drinks at your place are incredible, and the staff was patient and kind. Thank you for a great evening, I am recommending your place to everyone I know.
This place is a gem!! A beverage haven. Went there for coffe in the morning and a cocktail in thw evening aince i was still in the area. The servers were charming and helpful. Really enjoyed the vibe of this place. Eventhough i am visiting from NYC i am considering becoming a member!!
Navy Gimlet: wow! Just wow. I'm a huge cocktail nerd and it's pretty hard to surprise me, yet to impress, but The Interval did it with this drink. This drink is the epitome of the "less is more" approach. Initially, I was going to order a different drink, but I was intrigued by a note on the menu – that this gimlet takes three days to prepare. I asked the bartender how that was possible (after all, a gimlet is just gin and lime cordial, shaken and strained), and he explained that they prepare oleo saccharum and a lime tincture with gin, and then dilute everything to about 24 ABV (yes, this gimlet is stirred, not shaken). The resulting drink is simply perfect – very limey, the alcohol is almost imperceptible despite being quite strong, perfectly balanced, and very, very bright. It delivers what a cocktail should deliver – all the flavors work together, nothing to add or take away, and the sum is so much more that just individual components. Although in this case there is essentially only one flavor – lime – it is so perfectly highlighted and expressed, complemented by the herbal notes of the gin, and at exactly the right intensity. The gimlet is a wonderful drink by itself, and here it is elevated to a new level. Superb.
If you’re one of those people who are prone to deep thoughts when you’ve had a drink then OH BOY is this place going to be up your alley. The Interval is a cocktail bar / cafe situated within the headquarters of the Long Now Foundation, an organization devoted to the idea that we would do well as a species if we thought about our actions - past, present, and future - in greater timescales. I’m not going to pretend I know all the details, but what I do know is the cocktails are outstanding (and appropriately, well thought out), the staff is highly skilled (see previous), and the atmosphere is super cool and admittedly inspiring. Maybe we could all afford to spend a little more time thinking… even while we spend a little time drinking.
Been vacationing in the Marina area for years now, and just barely discovered this place. Was here for a girl’s weekend and a friend found this place on Yelp. We came after lunch at about 1pm and it was quiet. Most had their laptops and were doing work. My friend and I were at the bar jibber jabbering. Steven was the bartender and not only was he a great mixologist, but he had really good recommendations. This is one of those kinds of places where you want to try their specialty drinks. Don’t do your usual stuff. I am picky and only like drinks served up so Steven asked me a few questions before making a recommendation. We had three drinks each, a cookie and beef jerky before leaving. Parking is easy and there’s plenty. Park, use the machine and grab your receipt. FYI, parking machine says to add your cell so they can forewarn you 15 minutes before your time ends; that DOES NOT WORK. Make sure you keep an eye on the time which we did. Awesome new spot (for me) and will be back!
My favorite spot to indulged myself to yummy Ginger Hot Tea. Always enjoyed my time in this library+museum atmosphere. I bring friends to join me this time and they enjoyed their latte and cappuccino. I did try their impressive cocktails creations and it’s amazing as well. Highly recommended!
The Interval at Long Now is not your typical bar - it's a truly unique and innovative project that combines history, science, and technology to create a one-of-a-kind experience. The project is part of the Long Now Foundation, which is dedicated to fostering long-term thinking and encouraging people to consider the future in their daily lives. The bar itself is beautiful and welcoming, with a cozy atmosphere and a great selection of drinks. But what really sets The Interval apart is the range of events and talks they host, featuring speakers and experts from a wide variety of fields. These events are always thought-provoking and inspiring, encouraging visitors to consider big ideas and challenging them to think in new ways. But The Interval is more than just a bar and events space - they are actively working on a number of projects aimed at improving the future. One of their most exciting initiatives is the Clock of the Long Now, a mechanical clock designed to keep accurate time for 10,000 years. This incredible project is a testament to the foundation's commitment to long-term thinking and the importance of considering the future in our daily lives. I highly recommend The Interval at Long Now to anyone looking for a truly unique and inspiring experience. The combination of history, science, and technology is truly remarkable, and the foundation's commitment to improving the future is something we can all learn from. Don't miss out on this incredible project!
While visiting San Francisco, we searched diligently for a cozy bar with a focus on unique and quality drinks. I was thrilled to have found this place. It checked every box. Fantastic bartenders, great vibes, and an amazing selection of unique cocktails that were all absolutely delicious. We went twice in our few days there and I will definitely be back.
Had a wonderful experience grabbing cocktails and tea here pre-pandemic, so I was thrilled to see they are still going strong today. We visited on a Sunday about 20 minutes after opening and were surprised to see a line already out the door. Luckily not too long of a wait to get in. I ordered four ways to play and my friend ordered hacker club. We grabbed a couple seats at the semicircular table near the orrery, which depicts the solar system and planetary rotations. They also have some outdoor seating, though it didn't look like there were any heat lamps. We later ordered the green tea and three word title. The cocktails were delicious and they gave big portions of tea! Unique ambiance surrounded by scientific instruments and the beautiful spiral staircase and bookshelves. Will definitely be back!
The fantastic journey to start SF nightlife for the first time at a cocktail bar. Not just any bar but a "craft cocktail bar". The place is cozy yet dazzling, the idea for time intervals and converted into a place to a timeless drinking place with your special someone or bunch of friends then this is it. This place is unique and eclectic with a academia style place. Definitely coming back here again, especially during day time!
This place was the most wonderful bar. Stunning location with an exceptionally friendly staff. The customers were lovely too. We were there to raise a toast in remembrance of my son Shane. We stayed all night enjoying the most amazing private room. Definitely come here for the fabulously delicious cocktails and delectable snacks. We will absolutely return!
Found this place because I was at an event in the Fort Mason center, and was amazed by this place. During the day, this place is a cute coffee shop serving great pastries, coffee, and hot chocolate. In the evening, the place is a fantastic cocktail bar serving delicious drinks. The best thing about the place is the ambiance, and I can stay here all day long for it. Perfect place to work over a coffee during the day and great place to hang out at night with friends. This place is fairly small and packed during busy evenings, so recommend coming here early. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the area!
Really great cocktails! It would be nice if the outdoor seating had heaters. Also, the door isn't wide enough for people to exit, enter, and check vaccination cards which is confusing - and the bouncer certainly didn't help. However, the bartenders are so nice, knowledgeable, and great at their jobs!
