The Sandwich Place San Francisco Reviews
Juan ‘the Sandwich Man’ is a gem and they bake their own delicious bread!
The hole in the wall spots are always the best! Not only are the sandwiches huge and delicious but these sandwiches are made with love! The owner here is always friendly and you can tell that he cares about the quality of what he puts out. Don’t sleep on this place the sandwiches made here are worth every penny!
Delicious deli in The Mission on Mission street. Very friendly worker serving up tasty sandwiches. The honey chicken was very good. I told him I’d be back again and I’ll have to keep my word and try another one of their sandwich selections for breakfast or lunch.
Huge and delicious sandwiches! I had the BBQ Beef with grilled onions which was a fabulous mess. The owner Juan is a bundle of wisecracking energy - such a fun guy and you can tell that lots of folks are regulars. The Sandwich Place now joins Roxy Food Center and Deli Board on my list of best sandwiches in SF. Be warned that there is little seating and zero atmosphere. Grab your sandi and head to Delores Park like we did!
This place is amazing. Been coming here for many many years. The sandwiches are humongous. Tasty and Price. Well, I recommend trying them all.!!!
This place has been serving delicious sandwiches for years (40 plus)! An old school classic. The hot pastrami is the best in the City if not the whole Bay Area. Juan (owner) is always behind the counter joking and making all his customers, old & new, feel welcomed and appreciated. I love this place because it feels like home, the real San Francisco I remember growing up.Juan and the shop are an important part of the Mission District & SF community. Gracias to Juan and the lovely ladies who work there!
Out with Goosebump Charlie last night bumpin around with a couple of Singapore Slings, and he tells me of a sandwich place that kicks out the best Pastrami in the city! Well, I've had pastrami in every delicatessen in the city...that's worth going into. So, I tell him "Prove it, if you're right, I'll pay! What's the name of this place I ask..he says...you mean..The Sandwich Place, I said yes, what's the name of the sandwich place...and the dipwad says it again...The Sandwich Place on Mission Blvd. I was flashing back back to the first time I heard Abbott and Costello's who's on first...Well, we went, and the Pastrami was Amazing! 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆
so after getting 200,000 views on Teria Market.. I want to let people know about this wonderful little sandwich shop on 16st and mission.. The ower is awesome and so is his assistant. The food is handmade and ohh so yummy.. The prices are reasonable and filling.. check them out.. you'll thank me for it!
Maaaaaan this is a place for the locals and regulars! I've tried half their menu now and every time I'm blown away at how good it is. The quality of the ingredients and Juan's personality will keep you coming back. You really can't go wrong with any choice but here are some of my favorites: - The Reuben (their pastrami is next level) - Chorizo and Egg Breakfast Sandwich - Meatball Sub (not available everyday) - TJ Dog - Gumbo (not available everyday)
Pastrami sandwich regular size. Great service fast. Not much dining area but great for grab and go
I love the owner of this humble and simply sandwich place. I have send a few people to try it out and will keep doing it. Great and decent prices and most of all a warmth atmosphere. I send all my blessings to you juan ❤🙏 God will provide more to you and forever more. God bless

The BEST sandwich spot in SF. Not only are the sandwiches HUGE and delicious, but the owner is one of a kind. I felt like I was part of the family. All minorities should support this spot. Not whitewashed, not a chain, a real, brown small business. Watched the owner help our homeless neighbors in real time- this business really does support the community however they can. We will be coming back again for sure. Thank you, The Sandwich Place, we WILL be coming back. 100000/10. Not sure how this place isn’t viral yet.
Best sandwich in the city. Always a positive vibe and a perfect example of the energy in the Mission. 11/10
The service and the food were amazing! We ordered breakfast sandwiches. Even though we got the small one, the portions were still big! They bake their own bread and it is delicious. We were immediately greeting by Juan who was so kind, friendly, and social.
Owner is very kind, loves what he does and the community. Makes a mean sandwich. The modern sandwich was popularized in 1762 by John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who requested meat between two slices of bread so he could eat without leaving his card game. The sandwich's name comes from him, though similar preparations existed before him, such as the Hillel Sandwich from ancient Jewish tradition. In America, the sandwich gained popularity for its portability, becoming a lunch staple for workers and students by the 1900s, especially after bakeries started selling pre-sliced bread. Nice to see someone still keeping the traditions alive.
Owner has a bunch of energy very nice sandwich was immaculate gave us some cookies on top of that omg you have to just come try it your self amazing you’ll know when you come in

One of the best sandwich places in the city, great variety of deli meats, great service and Juan, the sandwich maker is a real character. Try the pastrami sandwich, a real treat.
Never expected to come here but so glad I did. The sandwich man is so kind and upbeat. Latino music on the inside. Got all the options you need. Super courteous made sure I got what I wanted and was pretty quick.

We ordered the pastrami sandwich and it is big enough to share for two of us. Hot meat and toasted bread made the sandwich tasty. The owner Juan is friendly, he seems like know every customer. One bad thing he touched the food with bare hand then touched everything else: phone, register…
Big sandwiches for low prices, perfect to grab for a day out. I really liked the Sophie's Delight, which was greasy and tangy in the best way, with delicious caramelized onions. Overall a very robust vegetarian sandwich menu, which I really appreciated. Cookies are good as well, and the main dude is really kind.

Been here 4 times over the last couple months and it’s pretty good if you need somethin for lunch. The problem is that the sandwiches are pretty pricy, and as a low income worker I usually ended up getting the bacon bagel which is one of the cheaper options, around $5 or $6 which is not too bad if they load the cream and bacon. Sadly, when I unwrapped my bagel back at work I discovered a terrifying site, THERE WAS NO BACON! I was definitely bummed out, but since I had already walked back to work I just ended up eating it anyways. The second time I came, I made sure to check the bagel right when I got it and confirmed there was some bacon (and a good amount of cream cheese too), so this order was definitely worth it. Sadly, upon my third bagel order today, I discovered once again that there was no bacon again :(. I had let my bacon bagel guard down due to the previous order being correct. Heartbreaking, truly. So if you’re going to go here, make sure that you open up whatever sandwich you got and verify that everything you paid for is in there. If they’re messing up a two ingredient order whose name is, The Bacon Bagel’, then you should proceed with caution when buying here. This is especially true for any big sandwiches with lots of ingredients since there’s lots to go missing. But, the one time I got a big deli sandwich was great! Pricey yes, but definitely real tasty. So if you got a bit of money and don’t care if an ingredient or two is missing, then this place is great.

This man (owner) on two occasions displayed irrational behavior when simply attempting to order a sandwich. He’d do better with less talking and more listening. Extremely rude and agitated proprietor. I drove a long way and parked out front because the sandwich last time was good, but that too was an strange ordeal. He berates you and tried to educate you on what it is you want-- rather than just making it. If your order is specific, he ain't having it. He’s used to talking to 16th & Mission street-people— and not professional people in a proper manner. He touched cash and makes sandwiches without cleaning hands. I am assuming his jaded behavior is because of dealing with the undesirable corner of SF this sandwich shop sits on. The crowd is sketchy, so expect to be treated the same. This man who runs this shop is not pleasant or problem solving. He actually kicked me out when I told him what I wanted and wasn't into being scolded like las time. He went crazed, lost it! I’m not used to this kind of environment or behavior. There are other quality sandwich places where they are humble and ready to take your order. I also saw him replacing a cookie to resell stock after a customer was handed the cookie and said she didn’t order it. Just let the customer take it at that point— dirty.
