Castillito Yucateco San Francisco Reviews
This place delivers the real Mission food deal: Mayan style. Not overrun as it is unusually close to 16th Street BART station. Loved it.
Cochinita pibil yucateco super burrito was so comforting. Soft and hot and mushy in the best way lol. Red pickled onions and tender pork, green sauce was bright.
[English below Spanish] Sólo comimos cochinita pero estaba buenísima. Panuchos (foto), tacos y torta 😋 We only had cochinita but it was SO good! We had the following dishes with yummy cochinita: panuchos (in the pic), tacos, and a torta.
All food tasted amazing. Tried cochinita and pok choc.
Great dishes via doordash — loved the whole fried fish.
Probably my most visited restaurant in SF as of late. My favorite dish is their pipian, a hearty, spicy, nutty stew that I eat with tortillas and rice. Their poc chuc (grilled citrus pork) & Desayuno Centroamericano are also fantastic.

Highly recommend the tacos — the meats are spot on. Cabeza was tender and flavorful and the carnitas was the perfect balance of fatty melt in your mouth and crispy edges (best I’ve come across in SF). The corn tortillas were fresh and delicious. Only note I’d add is to ask for more salsa! Green in particular was great. Best tacos I’ve had lower than 24th, come check them out!
Wow. Burrito with cochinitas is amazing. Tons of meat. Super juicy. I think there’s cheese melting over it? It’s good. It’s different than your regular meh Mission burrito.
this is by far my favorite Yucatecan restaurant in the city. The prices have slowly increased since I first discovered them a decade ago, but that is understanding and WORTH IT! i am from Merida, Yucatan and when I 1st ate there I almost cried. it tasted just like home. I can't have enough of the salbutes (chicken for me, which is the standard) POC CHUC, POLLO PIBIL, Sopa de lima, ESCABECHE... omg everything!!! the only thing that I didnt like as much are the empanadas and the friend kibis. they were a little dry. but everything else!! stop eating burritos and nachos. try authentic Yucatecan food! it's amazing.
I was just walking up the street……..make a point of stopping in. Food and atmosphere is fantastic. There is a full bar if you want a specialty cocktail. I had a vegetarian dish with beans…..perfect for me!!!
This is my favorite restaurant in SF. It's part of my weekly routine. The panuchos and fried plaintains lifts up my mood every time without fail.
We found a gem in the mission. Great food and drinks.

The mariachi players are quite loud, but otherwise the food and service were fantastic.
Awesome Yucatecan food!! Everything tasted fresh.

3stars means good I stopped here for lunch and had the poc-chuc. My meal was pretty good. The pork was nicely seasoned with a really nice level of crunch on the ends and the beans were a bit thin but very well flavored. The thing I remember most was the (appeared to be) homemade tortillas, which were excellent.
The restaurant it's dirty. So everything time I order a beer the waitress for got to bring it twice or I have to remind her again 2 & 3 times! Not friendly either and the time with the angry face all the time!
This little restaurant has a bunch of Mexican dishes that I've never seen before. The flavors and structure are familiar, but everything has a different name and technique than the taqueria or family style Mexican restaurant. It seems authentiic, the restaurant is clean, there's table service and they have beer on tap. If youre tired of burritos, give this place a try.

I came in and sat with my family. The table was dirty and I had to ask the girl to clean it. All the empty tables were dirty. I didn't even get to try the food because the waitress never even came to take our order. We waited 20 min. Not exactly sure what they were doing, I just know I was hungry and they were walking back and forth not taking our order. Or even saying give us a minute.... Nothing. So we got up and left. 20 minutes is too long to wait. Plus there was a table full of drunk men eyeballing my underage daughter, and I was not ok with that for any type of food.
If you actually close at 9:30 PM, maybe you should update Google Maps from saying 2:00 AM. Ridiculous.
