Whack Donuts San Francisco Reviews
Without a doubt the best donut in the entire city, maybe best donut I’ve had TBH. They’re baked, not fried and vegan. Also, and I don’t know what magic he does do to this, but this donut is literally JUICY. I have never used that word to describe a donut but this one is *quite literally bursting with flavor*. Closest you can get to an out-of-body experience is eating this donut. And listen, me personally at other restaurants I usually don’t get the “vegan” or the “dairy free” food cause it never tastes as good as the original. THIS PLACE IS THE OPPOSITE. I will eat these ANY DAY over other donuts. The flavor is just out of this world. The one downside is that when you try your first one, you will never be able to stop eating them. So be warned 😂.
Wonderful little donut shop with a variety of flavors, all vegan options so a great choice. Went for Whack Wednesday and for 2 for 1! Cinnamon sugar has great flavor and sugar coating, very soft and good texture. The maple donut has a nice frosting and amazing donut flavor. Fantastic service and ambience, well worth making a stop !!
Amazing donuts! How can they be vegan?!? I love that there's the typical 3 and at least 1 other version. And he occasionally hosts really great free community events. What a great small black-owned business!
My wife and I go to Whack Donuts at least once a week. The donuts are always tasty and delicious. There's usually a flavor of the month so the selection is always changing. They're vegan donuts but don't let that scare you; I'd put these donuts up against any others. The owner, Vandor, is a nice dude too. He's always done for a good conversation. The shop is has a good location right on the Embarcadero. Get some sun and some donuts for lunch....good deal imo. He often sells out before closing time so make sure you get there early.
My family and I got chocolate, cinnamon sugar and biscoff cookie and they were so good we forgot to take a picture even my picky eater loves his… great first impression of San Francisco. I did manage to get a picture of mine
When I first took a bite, I wouldn’t have believed these donuts are vegan. Seriously the most flavorful (but not too sweet which is perfect) donuts I’ve ever had! It’s so unbelievably decadent, I’m obsessed. My favorites are the matcha, chocolate glaze, Thai tea, and mixed berry. These are the only donuts I crave
Hands down my favorite vegan donut! Love the texture, always great flavors to choose from, plus they are filling without the guilt of traditional fried donuts. Some favorites include the cinnamon spice, double chocolate, s’mores, and horchata. Always baked fresh ❤️ Try these donuts and don’t be a punk just because they’re vegan, you’ll be missing out!
This donut was amazing. The cake like texture was filling (but not too much so) and ample amounts of cinnamon were exciting on the tongue. An excellent example of the form. And the bite I took of my partners green matcha donut was even better. That one had a perfect glaze. 5/5 would gladly buy again.
Best donuts ever. Whack Donuts has really good variety and creativity of flavor combinations, plus they don’t make you feel sluggish after like other donuts do. I only feel guilty from being able to finish a box all by myself the same day lol. My personal favorites are the Horchata, Thai Tea, and Mixed Berry. If you ever catch his monthly special of the Peach Cobbler I definitely recommend that too. Just do it. These donuts are whack!
It’s so soft, fresh and delicious! I ate so many at an event recently haha Honestly didn’t even know they were vegan until looked into the business. So yummy :)
Seriously delicious donuts! You wouldn't even know that they are vegan! The fact that they are vegan makes them that much better! So moist and tasty! YUM! WOW!
Amazing vegan donuts by a great dude who is truly passionate about donuts as an art form. They offer classic flavors as well as a rotating selection of creative flavors (see photo) so there’s always something new to try! SF native owned and operated too; shop hyperlocal!

Whacko is the best. I love sharing whacko donuts with friends and sharing his story. You can tell how much he puts into his work. This was born out of love and grief.
A sinfully good downtown dessert fix, Whack Donuts have a soft, fresh, and delicious texture nestled behind a sexy looking glaze. You wouldn't know these were vegan if it wasn't advertised on the signage. Being located around the Embarcadero, I see many tech folks, locals and tourists alike flocking in for the pretty donuts on display where they rotate limited edition seasonal creations. Currently open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Come early if you don't want to miss out on the fan favorites which sell out quickly.
All the donuts were vegan!! I had the cinnamon sugar and the oatmeal raisin donuts and they were amazing. The coffee was good too, nice and hot. Can’t wait to be back.
The donuts are super delicious and worth the price. I shared a seasonal s'mores donut with my boyfriend and it was SOOO good. You can tell he puts a lot of care and love into the business. Perfect for a little treat 🩷
I came here two days in a row because the donuts were so amazing. I had the Ube and the Mint and Chip cookies. They were so delicious plus you have the perfect spot to sit and chill on the steps of the Embarcadero Center.
Excellent baked donuts. We actually showed up today and they were sold out, but the owner‘s friend was there and he had a dozen donuts in a box. His kind friend let us have one so that we could try these amazing donuts. We would’ve happily paid for them, but his friend gave them to us for free. Next time we are in the city, we will come back and buy more donuts. Tasty and not as heavy as regular fried donuts. Highly recommend.
Small hole-in-the-wall that my friend and I found because of a sidewalk sign. So glad we stopped in! We got the monthly special, earl grey flavor, and got a freshly-glazed oven-baked treat. Fab service. Can’t wait to stop by and try next month’s flavor.
These were some of the BEST donuts I've ever had. Or family was visiting in September and randomly found the spot. Everyone asked to go back! The owner was welcoming and did not rush my daughter who couldn't make up her mind. I would HIGHLY recommend!

Absolutely delicious! Grabbed a couple of doughnuts as we dashed from the ferry to an appointment and they were lifesavers as well as being so flavorful and fresh. Highly recommend.
