Excellent food and very warm service! Perfect if you eat healthy – lean cuts of meat, fresh veggies, and a delicious soup. The staff is kind and explains everything. We even got a great dessert. Definitely worth visiting if you love authentic Vietnamese food!

Beautiful Soup in America. I like to get Pho Dac Biet. Combo. The dish is consistent across Vietnamese cuisine, however, I experienced exceptional flavor and meaning. I like my pho without additives. A purist at heart this soup spoke to my soul. A lot of people eating here seemed to be locals which to me says something in a big place like San Francisco. Maybe you need to step into restaurant for yourself to truly experience what I consider one of the greatest soup restaurants in the world.

It is right at San Francisco Chinatown. No fancy seating and great Service. Just sit and order. Love the crab noodle soup which I had never had it in New York City. This Vietnamese restaurant only take cash, no credit cards accepted.

Tried the rich crab soup and the beef carpaccio and both were delicious. Dining companions had Bahn Mi sandwiches with beef and added plum sauce (one of the available condiments on the table). Will have to return to try other items. Excellent service in a warm friendly atmosphere.

CASH ONLY - Pho exactly how you expect it. I wouldn't take a first date here to impress her, but it is a perfect late night spot to fill up with since warm pho. This beef pho had a decent amount of beef that lasted the entire meal. Dinner places skimp out, this one doesn't. Pro pho tip: ask for the beef on the side. This way you can add it in slowly to ensure the meat is never over cooked at the end.

Everything was amazing and really fresh. We will definitely make this a regular on our adventures in San Francisco. We ordered the vietnamese iced coffee, ice tea, fresh mango smoothie, fresh shrimp spring rolls, grilled pork and egg rolls over rice noodles, chicken cabbage salad, wonton soup (. ...as you can see from this picture, my teen enjoyed the soup immensely). Everything entered the empty plate club!

Welcomed in with care. The food was prepared in a timely manner and the recommendations from the server were pristine. The restaurant itself felt like a family run mom and pop shop and the vibe was comfy. They seem to organize some community events within it too! The food portion was a lot! Definitely worth the cost and a visit. Thank you for the hospitality.

I ordered their noodle soup, and it was absolutely perfect for a cold evening. It came out quickly, smelled amazing, and the flavor was outstanding — rich, comforting, and incredibly satisfying. Friendly service, great portions, and delicious food. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend My Canh to anyone craving authentic, flavorful Vietnamese cuisine.

Took my mom and my niece there for dinner and the food was great! We ordered the spring rolls and they were out of this world! The dungeness crab noodle soup is their signature dish. The Pho soup with rare beef and tripe was amazing and their jellyfish salad was tasty starter.

Mỹ Cảnh Restaurant is a wonderful place to enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant serves many delicious dishes such as grilled pork with rice, rare beef with lime, crab noodle soup, and crispy Vietnamese pancakes (bánh xèo). Each dish is full of rich flavors and truly represents the essence of Vietnamese culture. When you come here, you will not only enjoy the food but also the warm and attentive service from the staff. Every visit makes me feel like I am at home—just like when my sister used to cook for me. I haven’t lived close to her for nearly 20 years, but whenever I dine at Mỹ Cảnh, it brings back that same comforting feeling of home. Thank you to the team at Mỹ Cảnh for your heartfelt service and for always making me feel welcome.

Relatively inexpensive plate of food for San Francisco. I got the pork chop rice and though the pork chop itself was a bit smaller than expected, the flavor was spot on. It also comes with rice and some shredded pork and noodles which helped a bit with the small pork chop. The tea also uses real tea leaves instead of a tea bag which is rarer for small place like this. I may come back to try the soup noodles next time

Friendly service. Liked the lemongrass pork chop over rice with fish sauce.

The food is great. The service is acceptable. The staff seem to be always chattering in a language I can't understand, which means it's like going on an expensive vacation in Vietnam. It's a taste of the culture, but without that early 1970s angst of no support for that war. It's a refreshing break from the big box joints. Not everyone wants to risk this. I don't understand and get confused at times.

Great down and dirty Vietnamese on the edge of San Francisco’s Chinatown. The aesthetic is rough however the food is great, well priced and popular with locals. We arrived at just around 11pm and the place was alive and clearly popular. Food was tasty and a great find if you’re a seafood lover.

My Canh is a small Vietnamese restaurant that is located on the edge of Chinatown near North Beach/Russian Hill. It is one of three restaurants on the same block that are open till 2 am (the other two being Sam's and Panuchos). I tried it out a couple of days ago when wanting something late at night. It is a pretty run-down place that definitely needs a good scrubbing but I guess most places in Chinatown would fall under this category. I decided to get the Chicken with lemongrass over rice ($7.95) to-go. Ordering was straight forward without issues and after ordering I waited for about 10 minutes at one of the tables while the cook rustled up my dish and I was on my way. I got a small size container with a lot of rice and a small amount of chicken fried with lemongrass and I mean a tiny amount. It obviously lacked the intense taste of lemongrass but I could pick up some lemongrass taste if I concentrated hard. The rice also could have been much better, it was at best passable. Overall pretty average. Price wise it was pretty cheap with cost being under $10 for a fresh cooked meal. Obviously, it was cash only. The quantity of protein in this dish was enough for a late-night snack but it would be too little for a regular meal. I have to give them props for being open late and being cheap but that is balanced out by the dirty run-down nature of the place and the small serving size, so I'm going to have to go with an A-OK grade at-best.

We had a Chow Mein special, grilled shrimp & beef bun and Vietnamese spring rolls. The quality of the food was good, but the portion size was quite small especially the Chow Mein came only with a very small portion of noodles and also bun dish was on the smaller side. Given that both dishes costs $17 each I was expecting at least a normal portion size. The interior looks worn out and in a need for an update. They also charge a surcharge for credit cards which was neither mentioned on the menu nor by the waiter. The service was okay expect that the waiter refused to close the door even though it was quite windy and cold outside. The waiter also tried to push me repeatedly to give 20% tip which was a bit annoying.

Banh canh cua, loaded with msg which is bad and very fishy. This location needs a renovation and upgrade on staff. I had better so might be my last visit.

This placed used to be the IT place for crab noodle soup. Some would say, legendary even... back in the day. Sadly, in September 2025, we got the noodle soup with the crab and it was clear the crab was not fresh. Wife said, don't bother eating it and we tossed our crab to the side. I tried the pork blood, and even that tasted a bit off. This place went from #1 for this, to worst we've had in a while. There was a grand opening banner outside. We should have known. Our second dish, the crispy noodle wasn't too bad. The noodles were indeed crispy which met half the requirements. It wasn't great, but wasn't bad otherwise. Sadly, we will not be coming back.

Tables weren’t clean. They should disclose the credit card surcharge upfront. The “extra large” pho was actually the size of a regular pho at most places. Also, if you want the 10% SF resident discount, make sure to bring an ID with your current address. For reference, my final bill for a $16.xx something dish came out to about $21.something after adding a 15% tip, the credit card surcharge, and then applying the 10% discount.

I'm not sure where other reviewers have had Vietnamese food before, but this place leaves a lot to be desired. The shrimp was under cooked, the pho had no flavor, and I immediately felt sick after eating there. There are too many options in this part of time to waste time and money on this place.

Crab noodle soup, it’s so disappointed. I used to love this place for crab noodle soup. Food now doesn’t taste as good as before. We asked for crab meat no shell, they said yes then brought out 4 bowls and said sorry they are out of the crab meat without shell. Each bowl is $20 so not worth it. Never come back.
