Exceptional luxury Chinese culinary experience and service. The staff are really friendly and the menu selection Array 36 has to offer is beyond any other restaurant in greater LA area. The environment is quiet and divine, definitely great for dates and business events.

This was my first time here, most all servers speak English. Food was great, I wish I had taken photos to show you. We had the duck and a spicy pork dish. In the end, we enjoyed a mango dessert. I'm sure if you like Chinese dishes, you can't go wrong here. I'll be back!

Atmosphere is very modern. Service is patient and friendly. The crab steam egg is very impressive. Roasted duck is good too.

Authentic Chinese restaurant that offers traditional Shanghai and Hong Kong dishes. Excellent service and good ambiance. The snow pear jelly like dessert was a great way to end the dinner.

It’s a very nice Cantonese restaurant. The Peking duck is a must, and I recommend adding the soup. All of the dishes we ordered are yummy with amazing presentation. We had a great time here. Make sure to call and reserve your table since it’s quite packed during the weekends. They have quite some parking in the lot. Highly recommended!!

My parents came from China to celebrate my birthday, and I wanted to find a beautiful restaurant that they would enjoy. I searched online for something special and ended up choosing Array36. The environment was exactly like the photos online – elegant, upscale, and absolutely stunning. The dishes were beautifully presented as well! Perfect for photos, and the flavors did not disappoint. My parents were so happy and said it’s comforting to know there’s such amazing Chinese cuisine in LA – makes them feel like their daughter is well taken care of here😂😂 Truly a memorable experience.

My friend and I were traveling through the area from out of state and accidentally came into this restaurant instead of another we were planning on eating at. I am thankful for getting lost! The waiters were very kind and took their time explaining the menu. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. It was easily shared between two people. This restaurant is so good and I hope to come back one day.

The atmosphere was stunning and the food was absolutely amazing. We tried most of the menu, and each item was a hit! My favorite was the mousse desert (which is presented in the most adorable way) I’ve never had more authentic Chinese food in my entire life, and the service was amazing.

I always look for a restaurant who can combine all traditional authentic food dishes with best quality on one table for many years.. glad I met 36宴。 This is it. You will be happy with almost everything they created on their menu. Must try is the Beijing duck and the desert 杨支甘露!

Quick Summary One of the few upscale Chinese spots in the area. The interior decor was beautiful and it's easy to notice the high-end silverware as well. Didn't have a chance to order their Peking duck, but basically every table was ordering it and enjoyed the free show from afar. Food was very delicious, but just expect a much higher price tag. Food- 5 stars Ordered the Array 36 braised pork and egg, Array 36 crispy shrimp and the stir fried garlic green beans. Everything was delicious and freshly made. Portions were decent as well (just the right amount for 3 people). I would recommend calling ahead to order a Peking duck, but they did give us an option to order it on the spot (but had to wait 45+ minutes, so we declined for now) Service- 4 stars The staff are very friendly, but you do have to wave them down as they don't really check in on you. The place just recently opened so it is still working the kinks. Pacing could've been better as it would've been nice to get the green beans with the pork and egg (and rice) together, so we could've eaten it together. Also took about 45 minutes to get all orders, so just heads up for that. Bottom Line Very solid refined Chinese food. Definitely a bit sweeter to reflect the Shanghainese cuisine. Just really glad there's a more upscale option for Chinese food in the San Gabriel Valley. Will be coming back soon, hopefully after they get their workflow smoothed out as well.

Great weekday lunch deal! The $98 lunch set comes with 5dishes + a whole Peking duck, rice, and dessert — easily over $200 worth of food. Portions are big enough for 3–4 people. The duck was the highlight: crispy skin, tender meat, and perfect with the pancakes and condiments. Dishes came out fast (except the beef rib soup, which is cooked fresh). Excellent value and a great spot for lunch!

Lunch specials at Array 36 are seriously underrated✨ POV: you ordered the $98 tasting menu for the roast duck… and every dish delivered🦆🔥 Array 36 in San Gabriel is known for their Whole Roasted Duck, but this spread went way beyond. We had Black Truffle Shredded Chicken, Chilled Tofu Skin Salad, Golden Broth Pickled Cabbage Fish Fillet, Clear Soup Beef Short Ribs, Dry-Fried String Beans, Steamed Rice, and a Seasonal Dessert to finish.

Visiting Array36 today, I was immediately drawn to its warm and elegant decor, full of charm. The melodious sounds of the saxophone intertwined with the soft lighting, creating the ultimate ambiance. The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the dishes were served promptly. Even more delightful, the dishes were not only visually appealing but also incredibly delicious. I will definitely come back next time. Array36 is truly an excellent choice!

Had dinner here with a large group. We were VERY well attended to. Our server, Frank, took exceptionally great care of us. The presentation of the food was amazing, from the seafood, to the various meats, to the Peking Duck. Great experience, definitely recommend.

I recently dined at Array 36 Chinese Fusion Restaurant and had an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, the servers Zia and Peter provided attentive and friendly service, making sure my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. The manager here, Leo is also very friendly and professional. The fusion cuisine at Array 36 is truly something special. Each dish showcased a creative blend of traditional Chinese flavors with innovative twists, resulting in a delightful culinary adventure for my taste buds. The presentation of the dishes was also impeccable, adding to the overall dining experience. I highly recommend trying their iced drunken chicken and their hot and sour fish in golden sauce they were absolute highlights of my meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a memorable dining experience. Overall, I can't recommend Array 36 highly enough. Whether you're looking for exceptional service, delicious fusion cuisine, or both, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. I'll definitely be returning soon!

Array 36 is a cut above. The food, service and atmosphere were exceptional. We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday in one of the smaller private dining rooms and it was some of the best Chinese food I've ever tasted in my life. The chefs should win awards for this place! The servers were attentive and one was nearly always present. I'm blown away and would highly recommend this place to anyone. I loved everything that was ordered, but *especially* the tofu skin appetizer, okra appetizer, scallop tartare cones, Peking done -- served three ways: skin, smoked & regular, crispy prawns, short rib, noodles, and sautéed green beans.

If you don't like attention, DEFINITELY don't get the flaming Peking duck at Array 36. This is probably the most extra dining experience I've ever had, but to be real, that's kinda my vibe, and ESPECIALLY when it actually is as good as it looks. You're probably thinking, damn, a restaurant like this must be expensive, but I'm here to ungatekeep all the hacks. So what you do first is join their membership. It's $58 BUT you automatically get their Signature roasted duck that's normally $98 for FREE. Then you can get dishes at member-only prices, like Sichuan peppercorn chicken for $10, and where else can you get stir-fried WAGYU for $20? And imma let you in on a little secret... the floating noodle lava shrimp dish doesn't actually exist on the menu, but you can only order it as a member! At this point, the math ain't mathing. Thanks for reading! ^-^

The ambience of the restaurant really elevated the entire experience as a whole! Especially the darker lighting and calm music that serenades the guests. Besides the surrounding environment, the food that they provide is top tier (the menus are also incredibly easy to use, given that there are detailed images and translations of dish names). Service here is also very accommodating and easy to talk to. Would most definitely bring family and friends here again. If you ever get the chance to stop by and enjoy a meal here, it is highly unlikely that you'll regret it 😉

Was fascinated by the videos of the flaming duck, so came for a special occasion. Dramatic styling of the building and interior with a digital whale in the entryway add to the anticipation of this upscale Chinese restaurant. It's roomy and dark inside, great for a date. There are private rooms for groups and the tables on the main floor feel somewhat set apart and private. Service is very good, but it felt like they were overwhelmed when we were there. The place was full and I think it was reservations only. They are very strong on the food presentation. Flaming duck three ways, large serving dishes, linens, nice plates, etc. The duck was spectacular and very good. I wouldn't say that it was the best duck that I've had, but it was good. Most unusual was the smoked duck, which had a good but not overpowering smoky flavor. Cubed beef with portobello mushrooms was very tasty and tender. Lobster with garlic vermicelli was pretty good and well cut so that you could easily get to the meat. The scallion thousand layer pancakes were good, as was the crispy shrimp with plum sauce. We had a few more dishes, but nothing noteworthy. The whole black cod was tasty but had a lot of little bones. Parking was decent.

I ordered Set C from their new lunch set menu, priced at $98, which includes eight different dishes. It felt well worth the price for both the quality and portion size. The set could definitely satisfy a group of 4. The Set C included: - Truffled hand-pulled chicken - Chili tofu skin salad - Signature roast duck - Fish slices with pickled mustard greens in a golden sour soup - Clear beef rib soup - Dry-fried string beans - Seasonal dessert

foods are good, a lot of variety and doesn’t specialize in one type of cuisine. they ran out of live fish and duck by the end of the day, so will have to try next time. for some dimsum dishes and classic shanghai ones, everything was fine but not as skillfully made as quan ju de or anything. Roasted squab was oily and crispy, underseasoned though. The shrimp with plum and squash with salty egg were interesting. i’d skip on the yogurt bunny next time, weird texture and cake filling.

Fancy Chinese place with cool decor. It is kinda dark in there. Food is overpriced in my opinion, but taste was fairly good. I really enjoyed the beef and appetizer dishes. Mango dessert wasn't that great. I thought it would be creamy and the grapefruit made it a bit too bitter. Maybe they can cut back on the grapefruit a little. Duck was good, but after slicing it, there wasn't much left. When you make table reservations, you should let the staff know if you want the little "show" with the duck. Which is the flame presentation on the duck and the little fog effect on the plate and the glass lid when they remove it. I wasn't that impressed. Not sure if I'd return. Maybe if they cut back on the price at least 30% then I'll consider.

The restaurant is very nicely decorated. Most of the food is pretty good. Even the meats and seafood in the soup is juicy. The atmosphere is the only thing I do have a problem with. For a high end restaurant, I’m surprised they didn’t invest into a better air filtration system. Sitting inside the restaurant, I smell cigarette smoke regularly. I’m not sure if it’s coming from the outside or one of the private rooms. This is a nice place to have a quiet family dinner, just hope they improve the air filter system.

A
Ah Junne

Rather expensive Chinese restaurant specializing in Peking duck. The duck is good with crispy skin and tender meat. The portions are on the smaller side. Most of the dishes are flavorful and not too salty, but I was disappointed with their Yang Chow fried rice. For a pricey restaurant fried rice, they should have used bigger shrimp. The ones in the rice are like 36-48 when they should at least be 21-25. Their service was good.

C
Cat Voy

From what we ordered, food was okay, the braised cod and the beef short ribs are excellent. Other dishes that we ordered are standard, not really standing out. Service was great, our waiter checked on us to see if our tea pot was empty, and offered to change plate midway.

This is a beautiful place to enjoy authentic Chinese food (some Shanghainese and some other regional cuisines, such as Peking duck). The Peking duck was close to a 5* and the chef even smoked a portion of the duck right at the table side for a different taste. I have never tried a smoked Peking duck before and it was pretty good, but I will stay with the original flavor. The King crab was fresh and as well as the oysters. We also had three types of fresh vegetables, including yam leaves, that were all good. The soup we had was the traditional rich seafood type that’s called 佛跳墙 (fo-tiao-qiang, meaning Buddha scaled the wall, or the soup is so good that a Buddha would eat this non-vegetarian dish). I was not impressed with the lobster as it was slightly undercooked. The black beef steak was excellent. The abalones were pretty good. By the way, definitely try the King crab fried rice that’s served after the legs were steamed. This high-end restaurant has a real modern look and yet the dishes were very authentic. I was told that several top local Chinese chefs were hired and each has a different specialty or two. So you will get a taste of Chinese food from different regions. Highly recommend, but be prepared to spend a few bucks here.

S

Been here twice and both times sat in the private room. The minimum charge for the room is higher than other restaurants, but this place is luxuriously spaced, conveying great comfort while enjoying the well prepared tasty food with a couple of designated servers attending at the table throughout the evening.

H

The slow cooked Sichuan-style beef is unique and tastes good. We ordered four dishes for the two of us as we saw on previous reviews that portions are quite small. What do we like most is the decoration and ambience of this restaurant, plus the service. Our waiter Peter did a great job by giving us nice advice on choosing the meals and wonderful service. We will come back for the Peking duck which is their most famous dish.

D
Daniel Lee

An upscale Chinese restaurant that has almost the exact same dishes as Bistro Na. The Peking duck was solid and the crispy shrimps are a must get. Although the food was good, the service comes up short for a place aspiring to be a higher end go-to in SGV. They’ve only been open since October ‘23 so perhaps the service will catch up eventually.

Absolutely the most beautiful fine dining Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles! It is very modern in design.. the ambience is very elegant..which is so different from the outside.. located in a mediocre location in a boring small shopping mall. It was a turn off for me and that was why it took me so long to go there. Food was also delicious.. it is more expensive and perhaps that is why is fine dining.. perfect for a special date!

If you’re looking for a break from traditional Chinese cuisine, this spot offers a modern twist with creative presentation. The flavors are decent, but in my opinion, the high prices aren’t justified. It’s a great place to impress someone for a one-time visit, but not compelling enough for a return trip.

O

Place is very well decorated and you can tell this is a place that is more focused on the aesthetics. The foods are not bad but nothing too eyebrow raising, albeit the presentations are for the most part pretty good. Flavor was good but definitely not the highlight here. Food portions are somewhat small in comparison to less fancy Chinese restaurants you'd go to, but let's be real here, if you going to this place you're probably trying to impress someone. Overall, if you are going on a date or if it's a luncheon/ dinner you're trying to impress in this place could be a good option, if you just wanna eat there's more cost efficient places to go to.

so I am very picky about Chinese food. Array 36 gave me a good surprise. When you walk inside, the restaurant feels very modern, elegant, and high class. The interior is beautiful and looks like a place for special dinner or celebration. But honestly, from the outside, the building looks a little run down and old. It does not match the inside at all. If you just drive by, you may not expect such a nice restaurant inside. The Peking duck was excellent. They prepare it with fire, which is very impressive. The skin was crispy, the meat was tender, and the flavor was rich but not heavy. It reminded me of high-end restaurants in mainland. The seafood dishes were also fresh and nicely presented. Service was polite and attentive. Overall, beautiful interior, excellent duck, and refined Chinese dishes.

Expensive and food was very average. Peking duck was average. Steamed grouper was very rubbery and bad, worst steamed fish I’ve had in a long time. Out of squirrel fish when we tried to order it. Nothing special

As I saw another review put it, my experience was quite underwhelming despite the impression this establishment gives off. I found the shrimp to be quite bland. It was mostly sweet with a touch of tartness. There was a bit of a chalky mouthfeel from the batter. Bistro Na's version of this dish was more enjoyable in my opinion. The beef was just OK. It wasn't particularly flavorful and worth the price when comparing to other restaurants that make a similar dish. My family also ordered a vegetable dish, but it came out at the end after we had finished all of our protein. All of the food came out at very staggered times in general despite a decent amount of the tables being empty at the time. There was definitely more attention dedicated to tables who ordered the Peking duck with the performance. The duck was honestly a bit lackluster; the flavor was good and the skin was definitely very crispy, but overall the bird was not very fragrant or flavorful. At the end, we had a complimentary green tea pudding dessert, which was pleasant. I believe it was for the restaurant anniversary special, if I remember correctly. I have to point out that the overhead lighting kept reflecting against the plates and casting a harsh glare in everyone's eyes. I'm not sure if this was just the experience my family had at the table we were seated, but it was definitely an annoying thing to deal with. I don't think I would eat here again considering the disappointing experience I had with the food coupled with the higher prices.

A friend recommended this high end Chinese restaurant but alas it was rather underwhelming. The presentation for the duck is not appetizing, the tortilla wrap is really good, but that was it. There's a tiny plastic spoon for the sauce. The condiments for the duck are meh, overall not as good as Chang'an. The mapo tofu is just average. The chawanmushi is so greasy and spice is over powering. The claypot rice with vegetables and pork is OK. The best dish is perhaps the green beans. The shrimp is not as good as Bistro Na's.

------new review------ Last review, I scored this restaurant 3 stars because the duck's windpipe was not removed when cleaning. I removed one star for it. But this time, it was only worth 2 stars. Last time, we had roasted duck. They provided a buy-one-get-one-free ticket for the restaurant's anniversary celebration, so I chose to use the free duck ticket and went there again. Shanghai Style Smoked Fish with Preserved Plums 本幫話梅燻魚 0/5 We didn't order as much as last time, but last time the Shanghai Style Smoked Fish with Preserved Plums gave me a deep impression. I wrote "Even more memorable than the roast duck." This time, they changed the layout with a wood board and artificial crepe red maple tree. Not only the layout, they also changed the flavor, color, and texture. It became very salty instead of lightly sweet and sour. It became dark instead of golden brown. It became soft instead of crispy. If I had such a plate the first time, I wouldn't order it again. Intestine in Golden Sour Soup 酸湯肥腸 1/5 The portion was big. It obviously came from two separate intestines because one was tender, but the other was very chewy. The flavor had a strong chemical taste, probably from some industrial pre-made seasoning. It was strangely spicy and unnaturally sour, not a natural flavor. By the way, the pickled mustard at the bottom of the bowl was tasty. Very crispy texture. Good. One star for the pickled mustard. Stir-fried Beef with Rice Noodle 乾炒牛河 4/5 Classic-level stir-fry. No oil at the bottom of the plate. Beef was tender and well seasoned. Bean sprouts were fresh. Very good. Roast Duck 烤鴨 5/5 As good as always. Still the same good-quality roasting, correct cut, soft packaged pre-made wrapper, and WRONG scallion. I know the rule. You need to pay the tip based on the full amount even if you got free dishes. I took out my phone, switched to the calculator app, and found that the tip suggestion on the bill had already included the duck price. I didn't mind that they calculated it for me, but without any warning when they gave me the bill, what will happen to a careless person? I don't consider the restaurant sincere. ------last review------ When I carried a bag of duck carcass (duck skeleton) out of the restaurant, I was thinking of writing a review and giving it 4 stars. 36 Array is considered a high-end Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles. The renovation was dark and business style. Why are all fine dining restaurants dark? The location is in the middle of the San Gabriel Valley, the center of the Chinese population. But the restaurant's style feels more like something from Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. 36 Array is famous for its roast duck. They even offer a tableside duck carving performance for an extra 40 dollars. They also have an option to eat roast duck with caviar for an additional 188 dollars. Why ruin two good foods? Let’s talk about the food: Roast Duck 烤鴨 5 out of 5 Good. It met all the criteria of a proper roast duck. Good shape, good color, traditional cut, served with quality flour wrappers and accurate dipping sauces. One issue. The green onion. Wrong type and wrong part. I asked the waiter if they had a better kind. They did not. Shaoxing Drunken Sesame Shrimp (Raw) 紹興醉芝麻蝦 3 out of 5 It should have been good, but the chef added lemon juice, which made the flavor strange. Very expensive, 36 dollars for 15 small shrimp. Shanghai Style Smoked Fish with Preserved Plums 本幫話梅燻魚 5 out of 5 Very good flavor and texture. Even more memorable than the roast duck. Shanghainese Sauteed Eel in Special Sauce 響油鱔糊 4 out of 5 Bamboo Shoot Soup with Pickled Pork Belly 醃篤鮮 0 out of 5 So far, it still felt like a 4 star experience overall. But then The next day, I pulled out the duck carcass (duck skeleton), planning to shred the meat for stir frying with bean sprouts. It was unpleasant to find the windpipe still inside. This should have been removed during preparation. That is definitely unforgivable. I have never seen this, not even with roast duck from a roadside food booth. That is why it is 3 stars.

They try to brand as a high end restaurant but they definitely not there. The interior construction are so hanging there. Both Bathroom door has damaged hole next to lock that can see through. Decoration behind booth is sharpe cut metal that can but kids hand! 😡 DANGEROUS! Staff training is bad, we ordered couple clay pot items, the same staff keep picking the empty space next to my 2 year old high chair to drop the items. THERE is a bigger space between 2 adults that we intend to leave it for the server to drop hot food. NEVER come back.

Didn't eat there but the front desk lady was pretty rude. Trying to put my name down while my husband waits for my elderly in laws to walk from parking lot and the lady said everyone has to be here first before they can put my name down. I don't understand why since last time I came they were willing to put my name down without everyone present. She was also rude and didn't explain. Then turn to the person behind me and asked them how many instead. 1 star for the rude front desk.

Great Food, Terrible Experience Array 36 offers good food and has an upscale ambiance, but our family dinner for 20 was ruined by the chaotic and extremely rushed service. Despite multiple, explicit requests to pace the meal; the kitchen ignored them. Dishes were delivered in a non-stop barrage—beef rib, peking duck, fish, lobster arrived within minutes, jamming our small table. It felt like "force-feeding" rather than a fine dining experience. The food, which was initially promising, quickly got cold. This rush showed a complete lack of respect for both the chef's creations and the customers. Our complaints to the staff and front desk were met with no resolution. For a restaurant marketed as "Fine Dinning" , the management failed spectacularly. It lacked any class or sophistication. Conclusion: The decoration and high price falsly represent high-end dinning. It can't be justified by the chaotic, rushed service. Food is meant to be savored, not wolfed down. I would never recommend this place. Avoid if you want a relaxing, enjoyable "Fine Dinning" experience.

This review was based on Christmas dinner. Apparently it was supposed to be “upscale” Chinese restaurant, but I see nothing related to that word! No ducks for reservation tables?? I meant the server told us it was sold out at 5:30pm?? I saw people came later were being served with ducks!! I guess the servers were lying about they were out of it🤷‍♀️ Service was bad and no dinner napkin on table at all. Had to keep asking servers to refill our drink. Dishes were taking FOREVER! I booked the reservation early December for December 25th dinner at 5:30pm , asked if I could order the duck ahead of time, the phone rep said they don’t do preorder. If they told us we could get ducks only on lunch or right when they opened for dinner at 5pm, I would have done lunch. Bad communication! This place is not that upscale yet! Definitely need more training with the restaurant staffs. The place looks ok, and the dishes were not that amazing! For the price I’d go to Bistro Na’s, the food and service were phenomenal!!

Yesterday I went to eat here. I called ahead to make a reservation, but the girl who answered the phone had a very poor attitude. She told me they don’t take reservations — if there’s a table available you can sit, and if not, you just have to wait. After parking and going inside, no one greeted me or showed me to a table. During the meal, there was barely any service from the staff; it was basically self-service the whole time. I ordered the set meal deal, and the Peking duck included was mostly cold. There were only eight thin pancakes and a very small amount of sauce, which was nowhere near enough. Overall, it was a very bad dining experience. I don’t plan to come back, and I wouldn’t recommend ordering the set meal deal here. It almost feels like if you buy a discounted deal, you don’t deserve good service. The experience was completely different from dining here in the evening.
