Charlie's Place San Luis Obispo Reviews
The reviews were on point. I got a bacon combo burger with onion rings - great food, big meal! Ordered online, ready in ten minutes, picked up, server was really friendly, place was nice and I’d eat in next time. Really liked it and only $20! Would absolutely eat here again.
Wow, this place is amazing. I barely ever leave reviews, but this place really wowed me. We got the street tacos, super burrito, BLT, and turkey club. The food was delicious, had HUGE portions for the price (look at the size of the burrito!) and everyone was so nice and friendly. Definitely recommend!
We wanted Chicken Fried Steak and somewhere different to get it. I Googled it and Charlie's was right there. I've driven by this place several times and planned to eat there, "one of these days". The location is great and the trees and the elevated deck reminded us both of one of our favorite restaurants in Maui. We were immediately greeted with a friendly smile and quickly seated. The interior has a bar atmosphere and family restaurant all rolled into one. Lots of TV's with various games on and happy people. We always share when we can. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, with 4 eggs over easy, and biscuits and gravy. It was everything I hoped for and then some. And the coffee was hot and delicious. The cost was typical of what we spend for breakfast. Everything was great.
Yummy breakfast spot in downtown slo!! We were seated right away on a Saturday morning and our server was super friendly. All the food came out fast and the portions were big. The breakfast burrito was delicious, would definitely recommend. Prices were also very affordable. I will come back next time I’m in the area!
It was an excellent visit to Charlie's Place. I called ahead to confirm that they had vegan options and a dog-friendly outdoor seating area. We arrived at an off peak time, 2:30 pm, and were sat immediately at a patio table in the shade. The server greeted us quickly, answered questions thoroughly and took our custom drink and food order without problem. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was great! If you're eating plant-based or vegan, be sure to get your burger without mayonnaise and bun without butter.
There was no way I was going to test that point. We got mimosas with our breakfast. While I was enjoying my mimosa, I saw a sign that said, "No alcohol beyond this point". Initially, I wasn't planning on bringing my alcohol beyond that point, but that sign changed everything. My mind started racing. What happens when you bring alcohol beyond that point? Has anyone ever tried and if they have, have they lived to tell their story? I wanted to pass that point for just a second to see if I'd be okay, but ended up not being courageous enough. What if I jumped past that point and then never saw my friends or family again? Or what if the restaurant decided to take my drink away from me? Both consequences sounded terrifying. I couldn't even fathom a life without my friends, family, or alcohol. Anyways, I ended up playing it safe and just enjoyed my mimosa and avocado toast within the point.
This PLACE was so good. look at there food. so the onion ring tower had 15 onion rings on it. the taco came with the chili's verda plate. and the seafood trio is a applitizer plate and last is chili verda drench fries. this is all good yummy food. we for sure will be back they have so many good sauces to try too.
yummy food and awesome service! i had sausage and biscuit gravy and my mom had the meaty ommelette with hash browns and toast both of which we thought were great. theres good options for “fancy” coffee drinks and prices are reasonable. it was a nice slow way to start our morning. our server was very attentive and quick to help us and there was no wait and not many people there on a sunday morning at 10:30-11:00 so would recommend.
Everything was really good my favorite was the taquitos. We got cod burger ,chicken ceaser salad,1/2 pound burger, kids quesadilla and hot wings . ONLY THING THAT I DIDNT LIKE WAS THE FAUCET WATER
The mimosa pitcher is a must for brunch! Servers are always very friendly. Pictured as well: Monter Bloody Mary, veggie/vegan burrito

Exactly what we needed on a Sunday morning. There was no wait, we were a party of 5 and were seated immediately. The service was excellent. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food was really good. Everything came out quickly and screaming hot. Extra points for the perfect Lattes and variety of football games on the TV’s.
This is pretty much my favorite restaurant in town, I love the atmosphere, the staff are really nice. The food is always delicious and the portions are always large. The parking lot is tucked away behind the restaurant and there are usually open spots. It's usually not very busy when I go but I honestly wish they got more business--they deserve it. There's a nice casual bar and lots of tables. There's TV or sports on but with the sound off. you can get a burger for 15 bucks or a beer for 5 and they have happy hour deals and day-of-the-week specials.
Had the breakfast burrito with their hot salsa. It was awesome, great size nice spice. Very fresh. Will eat again!
The food was great. I ordered chorizo & eggs with corn tortillas and a side of avocado. Service was fast. Our server Valeria was awesome!

One of our favorites. Always great food, friendly and welcoming staff. One of the biggest burritos on the coast and the Vacero fries are amazing.

Huge portions. They have a large menu to choose from. The happy hour seems like a good deal. A good college place. The hamburger patties are frozen, so they are not as good as fresh ground beef. The atmosphere was cool, and TV's throughout the place to watch sports. Good place to hang out with friends and catch a game.

Quick service, uninspired buffalo chicken wrap (lettuce and chicken tossed in buffalo sauce. Kind of lacking interest), the chips on the nachos were pale and the white cheese only served to make them look less appetizing. Looked like minimal tomatoes (not salsa). Generous guac and sour cream though. Overall decent experience. Nothing 'bad' just not anything "wow" either.
Food was pretty good. I had a salad that was huge. Kids had enough fries for 4 people, the nuggets were pretty dried out. The outdoor patio was pretty, but we ate inside and the inside was fine but noticed a bunch of huge cobwebs on their decor. Food was hot, drinks were refilled quickly, didn't have to wait to be seated. Overall good place for a meal.

2017: Can't go wrong here. Semi pricie but you get large portions. Great drink specials and friendly staff 2021: recently decided to switch up the eating habits and am very disappointed that this spot doesn’t have any real vegetarian options. Especially being so popular with the CalPoly scene you would thing they would offer up at least a small variety. We’ve been going here for years but this is gonna have to dock a star from us and we won’t be coming back as often. :(

Breakfast burrito price gouging with an extra 3 dollars charge to sub avocado for meat! Ridiculous! Most places don’t do this! My company that orders lots burritos a weekly will stick to places who don’t charge do this, as it’s flat out wrong not having a vegetarian option for breakfast burritos without spending way more for a Avacado over meat. Plenty of places that don’t do this gouging, so we wont be back here!
