Dumplings & Things Sunnyside Reviews
Love this place! I eat here as much as I can. Clean, good food and great portions. Quick service.
A must-try! Good pricing, a great tasting food. Employees are very friendly, too.
Cash only place with great dumplings but the best thing they have is their house special fried rice
The food is great, the prices aren't bad, and the service is fast. The only downside is that they only take cash.
Oh. My. God. Cash only but worth the trip to the ATM. Soups to sell your first born for.
Lovely staff & delish food! Always leave wanting more. Hidden gem!
Very patient and helpful staff.🤗 The pork and chive AND the kimchi beef dumplings are YUM-ay!
Amazing dumplings from this small place in Sunnyside. Perfect as an appetizer or small meal.
The food is great , especially the fried dumplings and the wonton soup.
Great place and tasty food I had shrimp n chicken dumpling fried
This Tiny place in the heart of Sunnyside Queens, clean, affordable, delicious food and generous portion, not to mention friendly.
Pretty clean, food well presentable, place very friendly, and service makes you feel like you are a friend.
Ordered through Uber Eats. Food came pretty quickly and was delicious. We especially liked the beef dumplings and the scallion pancake. Definitely a new favorite.
The food was definitely top notch. The dumplings are packed with meat and flavor. I had the Grilled Pork over Rice. Delicious!!!! Definitely coming back!
Had the vegetable fried rice and it was really well made and flavorful. Also a great price for the portion. Would definitely repeat!
The hot oil wontons are 10/10. I’ve gotten delivery and take out from this place a few times. Definitely recommend!
The food here is fantastic! The prices are excellent for what you get, especially when compared to anything in flushing! Here you get your bang for your buck and then some and it tastes great.
Tried the Braised Beef and Pork Belly Noodle, as stated on their menu melt in your mouth. Their homemade fried rice is pretty good too.
Food is delicious, 😋, Atmosphere is quiet ,cleaned, cool with AC, staffed is friendly , Favorite meal is grilled chicken over rice and a watermelon mint lemonade, 😋
Great homemade dumplings and bao buns (the pork belly is mouth watering). My go-to is the House Fried Rice with a fried egg. Don't forget $1 mochi!
Love ordering from this place all the time. They offer vinegar at the table to add to all the dumplings and things 😂
Delicious quick eats! Love their dumplings but they have so much more on their menu too!
Been here before...long time ago. Food still tastes great 👍🏽
I LOVE THIS PLACE! The house special fried rice is SOOOOO GOOD! *Cash only* they’re also on Uber Eats.
Very good food and service. I eat here 1-2 times/week. Only drawback is cash only—I wish they’d allow cards.
It's yummy, it's quick, it's cheap, it's clean. Cash or zelle only.
I know this place since they open it. I loved their dumplings from the beginning and when I get the chance to be around that area,I like stopping by and have them.👍👍Yummy...😀
Been coming here since they open I love them❤️
I love this spot! They make the best dumplings! However, I don’t like that some of them have a new thin shell. I love the doughier thicker shell. Get the pork and Napa cabbage b/c those have the thicker shell! Really affordable and delicious!
The food was good and at a reasonable price. Freshly made and the cashier was nice and friendly and brought the food to us. There was a customer that came in with his bike and they didn't say anything which was nice of them. Most shops won't allow it. The place felt very spacious with very good AC. The only thing I can say that was bad was the hot sauce. Even though it's a sirracha bottle, the hot sauce was not actually sirracha and was actually a different one that tasted water down. This place is cash only and I didn't like that they charge tax if it was cash only but I guess you can consider it as the tip here if it makes you feel better. You don't really need to tip here, it's like a QSR. Just remember to put your tray in the trash before you leave. I feel like they should at least accept digital payment like Venmo and Zelle and debit cards if they want to win more business and customers.
Perfect presentation, food tasted like how I'd imagine it. Delicious, would go again. Ordered pick up, but they let us stay and eat. Amazinh service, so kind!
I could eat dumplings everyday so I've tried a lot places in the area. These ones are absolutely amazing: the wrapper is not too thick, there's a lot of filling (a lot lot more than average) and they are sealed properly (who likes hot water oozing out of their dumplings?). The beef and kimchi ones are my favourite. As with all fried dumplings, eat them in-house, if they stay too long in a container rather than being crispy they become soggy :-)
A small spot in Sunnyside, initially came here because a friend had pointed it out. Dumplings are spectacular, honestly one of the best I've had. The baos are amazing too, pretty stoked to try the soups soon. Seriously a great place for a cheap price.
Fantastic fried dumplings. The broth for noodle soups is very flavorful, I absolutely LOVE their pork belly baos. Kind service, cash only, good portions for the price.
Service was absolutely incredible I try the dumping soup & also house special fry rice 🍚 💯 steam dumplings are must try 😁 Highly recommend ✓
What a great little counter style restaurant. The Pork Belly soup was awesome and the dumplings were also very good. Worth the walk, economical and will definitely hit the spot. Highly recommended.
This is a great spot for excellent dumplings. Their menu has some other dishes as well, all of them sound good. It’s CASH ONLY, but there is a Bank of America ATM near the corner.
loyal costumer for 6 years i believe. Always went to the one in brooklyn but then moved to queens, i was so sad not having dumplings and things near me next thing you know its right in my face i run in and had to order my usually “dumpling noodle soup with d1 dumpling and rice noodles”. this will always be my to go stop <3
I love this spot! The food is amazing and so comforting and tasty
Pork and chive fried dumplings are probably the best dumplings I've ever had. Their other dumplings are good not great. Setting is fine. You can sit down comfortably and eat. It's not fancy. Practical and delicious.
My second time ordering from here within 3 days, it’s so yummy! The only reason I haven’t been is because it’s a cash only place. Got the braised beef noodle soup and the dumpling noodle soup, both were delicious! I would definitely add some hot sauce. Great prices !
Delicious spot in sunnyside. Perfect for a quick meal or even a quick pick up of dumplings. Food is cooked fresh and the quality is consistent.
Ordered delivery a few times and the food is really good. Beef noodle soup is delicious and great portion. Pork belly buns are tender and a must get. House fried rice another delicious and love the portion size. They listen to the delivery instructions. Hot oil wontons another winning item wontons are hefty and juicy.
I usually order wonton soup here, it's really good!! And the staff are very nice too😊 My go to food whenever I feel like I don't want to cook
Gem 💎! The noodle soup 🍜 noodles have a chewy-ness & 'elasticity' that resembles a hand-pulled style which is a Huge thing for me when it comes to noodles! The broth is also flavorful, heart-warming yet light / low fat 🐮 Note, the fried dumplings 🥟 seem deep-fried as opposed to pan-fried so I would go with the steamed / boiled next time for health reasons!
If you find this review helpful, please hit like. Quality: Excellent Price Point: Cheap, you can eat a meal (5 dumplings and a coke) for about $5 Credit Cards: No, CASH ONLY Service: Quick, although it was quite when I went in. Ambiance: Nice and relaxed. Decent wood furniture and easy to read chalk menu. Music at a reasonable volume, and of course - clean. Clientele: Mixed reflecting the neighborhood, but most importantly I see actual Asian people eating here. What I had: Spicy Beef Dumplings and Pork with Cilantro Dumplings. I had both fried instead of steamed. They were meaty, flavorful, and crispy. Bonus: They are partnered with SpotLuck
I like their noodles with soup. You can also get it without soup. The dumplings are alright .
The shrimp fried rice was pretty good as well as their chicken dumpling miso soup
For $10, pork and chive dumpling soup and a side of beef bao very tasty plus filling.
Excellent chicken and shrimp with cilantro fried dumplings at an incredibly low price.
Seems like every month they raise their prices, good food. They messed up my order and didn't believe me which was upsetting and had to walk over and complain.
Good dumplings (fried always have more flavor than steamed)- and things (I recommend the peanut noodles in the summer and noodle soup in the winter)- gets spurts of traffic as people get off the 7 train.
Cash only for their great dumpling. I get the beef and kim chee dumpling, fried. also get the chicken over rice. Lean grilled chicken with a sauce provided on the side.
It is a nice place but the food does not fill you up unless you spend maybe $10 in dumplings for yourself. Steamed is healthier but the fried dumplings are way better in taste. It looks like a classy little place. The quality of the dumplings is great compared to other places.
Dumplings and Things is Sunnyside's newest fast food restaurant serving asian noodles, rice dishes, dumplings, and baos. Perfect for reasonably priced solid portion dinners on the commute home. I am a fan of their 'things' more than their dumplings. + Location - Prime spot 30 second walk south on 46th st. from the subway station. + Pork belly noodle soup. The broth is excellent and rich, and the pork belly generous and fatty, but the texture of the noodles was uncomfortably melt-in-your mouth soft, perhaps overcooked or simply low quality. Still worth it for the price! + House fried rice with Chinese sausage - 4 words- Delicious, but needs kimchi.(yes I know it's not a Korean restaurant) And soup would be nice. + Sliced braised beef boa - Only place in Sunnyside that serves bao. + No tip. + Quick service (off-peak times). - Limited seating indoors - Sometimes have to take to-go because the seats are filled. Many people sitting on their phones waiting for their to-go orders. + Slow service (peak times) - Waited 15 mins. for baos and dumplings once at 7pm. - Cash only - tradeoff for low prices.
Small & cozy. Friendly & low-key. CASH ONLY! The veggie bao are fresh-tasting & happiness-inducing, refreshing & not too sweet Thai iced tea. There’s plenty more on the menu I’m looking forward to trying next time (I’m looking at you steamed Chinese veggies.) Spicy wontons are light, not heavy greasy or over-spiced. Fried dumplings are good but a tad greasy & thick. And this place is very close to the train station.
I love all the dumplings they have here. The soups and ramen are not that great, it tastes like the packaged stuff you can buy from the supermarket. But I recommend the chicken and shrimp dumplings, those are great.
Cheap menu. Generous amount of food. I got pork and napa cabbage (5 for $4) steamed and pork belly bao (2 came with the order). Pork belly really was melt in your mouth. Absolutely delicious. Dumplings were packed with stuffing. I also got chicken dumplings in soup to go for my husband ($7.5). I tasted the broth and it was great! Not too salty with good flavor. Lots of ramen noodles cane with it. I would recommend N5 (dumpling of your choice in soup) or pork belly noodle soup. I would also recommend just getting dumplings and the bao.
Dont come here for the dumplings......... best bao buns you can get that isnt in flushing!!! Absolutely addicted to the beef and pork kinds.
Tiny spot. Clean and enough tables for a few people to stay and eat. Has a more take out atmosphere. They do have one bathroom for customers. Prices are inexpensive . Tried the kimchee beef dumplings. They were tender and soft, good flavor but could have been a bit more pungent. The woman at the counter was not very friendly unfortunately. Would consider coming back to try other items.
Very good price. Fast friendly service. The dumplings were good but a little under seasoned. Also the skin is not as thick and crispy as I would like. I will definitely be back to try other items but the fried dumpling seasoning and skin as a bit disappointing for me, but maybe perfect for anyone else.
Small place in Sunnyside, pretty clean, and food is pretty good. Had the pork buns, scallion pancakes, and beef noodles. The pork buns were great, nice piece of meat and tasty. Scallion pancakes were nice and thick, almost like a piece of bread that was nicely baked, it is not the thin greasy kind like many other places. The scallion flavor is mild. The dipping sauce is very salty which I don't mind but I can see it being strong for some people. The beef noodles were good, nice flavor on the beef but very dry so definitely recommend the broth (did not try the broth though).
First of all, the broth is incredible. They add like sesame oil or something to it and it gives it this like nutty flavor that is soooo good. The noodles and vegetables are perfectly cooked and while I wasn’t blown away by the dumpling’s filling, it was still good. The service was good, and the space was nice enough but I wish they had real utensils.
The food here is ok the broth for the soup is a little bland but overall it's an ok place.
I really wanted to like this place because the staff were lovely and it had a homely, family-run feel. But the food was really bland - I found myself wishing to taste something, anything!
Nice menu at good prices, but found the dumplings to be bland. Eat in so you can use their sriracha to give it some flavours
First time I went there found a hair in my food. But It was still good tho. Would I go again probably not
I don't know...I read reviews about zero flavor but still wanted to try. Lady working was very friendly so service was A1!! But the wonton soup had almost zero flavor- like zero flavor dumplings in water. I had to add so much to the broth to make it somewhat enjoyable. The scallion pancakes had no Scallions in them. Just the dense pancakes- no flavor again. :( Also, cash only. So just order on grubhub and pay w your card that way.
This place had friendly service, but the meal left a lot to be desired. The pork and chive dumplings (steamed) were very good, the beef and kimchi dumplings (fried) felt slightly undercooked on the inside (and I couldn’t really taste much of the kimchi) and the braised beef noodle soup was relatively tasteless (the braised beef was the star, luckily, but the noodles and broth were both pretty bland). In sum, this was an alright experience, but with such fantastic other options in the neighborhood, I can’t say I’ll be a returning customer.
The food was fresh but it didn't really have flavor. The braised beef noodle soup was a great portion but the broth was like water. The place was really clean though
Food was ok, The dumplings seemed to have eggs inside and it felt like I was eating an omelet, not exactly the texture I was looking for in dumplings. The chai tea was ok but didn't really taste like chai, also it was orange. But the place was clean, service was fast
Nothing special... taste like buy dumplings from supermarket and cook for you that's it. Bad service, didn't even grab me a fork and napkin. Overpriced
I always used to love getting dumpling from here always hands down the best only place i used to get them from. I was craving them today only to be really disappointed. While the portion is bigger it doesnt taste the same. The taste now is so bland theres no chives. Guess I am going to have to look for another dumpling place 😩
Their dumplings need… work. I tried their vegetable dumplings, and they were so bland I’m genuinely confused by the high ratings. The stuffing was not minced well enough so the chunks fell out when I tried to dip them in soy sauce. The only redeeming factor is the price. But I don’t like that they only accept cash. They don’t even accept Zelle or Cash App. Funnily enough, you can order through Uber Eats and DoorDash which DO accept credit. So if you don’t have cash on you, just order through one of the apps 🤷♀️ The owner didn’t let me wait inside with my pup until my pickup was ready. So we waited outside in the cold. It was difficult to tell when the order was ready because they wouldn’t bother to tell you. Bottom line: they don’t care about their customers. They don’t care to make their food special. They just want money. Won’t be visiting again.
I do not recommend getting the dumplings or scallion pancakes. These are not dumplings, they are far closer to an empanada in size and look. But even an empanada wrapper is not as thick as the wrapper on these dumplings. The favor is mediocre. The scallion pancake has no scallions or flavoring. The baos were the best item in my order but they were also mediocre. The store is clean and the staff is okay. I will try the other menu items and rereview, maybe those are much better than what I have tried so far.
My wife called in our usual order and I picked it up. Got home and realized it was the wrong order, called back to see what to do. Got passed to a female manager who did not apologize and instructed us to return the meal. No apology in person or acknowledgement of mistake. Food is usually good but not good enough for that version of customer service.
I ordered 2 order of beef baos.but they gave me pork baos.i don't eat pork.when I find out I have to vomit.this should not happen. When you take order make sure you listen and note carefully. I am not your customer anymore.
The food was awful I had to Throw it out. The dough was thick and they use Imitation crab meat. I’m very disappointed.
The dumpling was okay but so great. The place is so small you would never have a seat. Customer service was not so great as I did not understand.
As a Chinese person, this place is a a disgrace. The hot oil wontons did not have hot oil on them, just regular soy sauce… the peanut butter sesame noodles tasted, once again, like plain soy sauce. I feel cheated!
My review it not for all items of the menu. I only tried the beef dishes they have. I got stomach virus twice eating from this place. The beef tastes weird. The scallion panckake was tasteless not worth the money. However, I know few people who recommend the dumplings. If you have a weak stomach please try to be safe eating meat from this place.
If you grew up eating Chinese dumplings, skip this place. The dumplings and sauce did not meet my flavors expectations - no aromatics, no umami flavor. The flavor profile is sweet and bland.
I made a phone order expecting prompt service, but was disappointed to discover that my dumplings were not even started until I arrived. To make matters worse, they were burnt and I had to wait an unreasonable amount of time. I have no intention of returning to this dumpsters and will not be suggesting it to anyone.
We have been coming here for over 6 years and the guy who messed up my order today doesn’t even say I’m sorry. He missed one order of dumplings and all he told us was come back and order it or order online. It’s POURING rain outside with 29 mile winds and the guy can’t even say he’s sorry for messing up. A shame they’re losing business over two words he’s not able to say. Guy needs to learn some manners rather than inconvenience people because of HIS mistake.
I have a good stomach, so I can eat most types of food. I don't want to recommend the food here. In particular, the beef noodles are not good. I can't believe I left out all the food at the restaurant. The beef was so tasteless and tasted like blood. To get rid of that taste, I'm drinking Monster Energy Drink.
