Soleluna Sunnyside Reviews
I have been meaning to review SoleLuna in Sunnyside for quite some time, and it’s well deserved. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. They have a great wine selection, and the food is consistently delicious. A strong recommendation for the papperdeli au funghi (mushroom pasta with burrata) — absolutely excellent. Everything we ordered was flavorful and beautifully prepared. The staff is extremely nice and attentive, which makes the experience even better. A wonderful neighborhood Italian spot. Highly recommended
Been going to this restaurant since it opened. The food is always delicious ! I moved outside of sunny-side and I always go back to have their pasta. Always worth the trip. Their pesto, seafood pasta and tiramisu are so good!
My family and I have been coming to SoleLuna for years — it’s one of those rare spots that just feels like home. ❤️ Everything on the menu is incredible (truly, you can’t go wrong), and the food is always made with care. As Sunnyside continues to change, SoleLuna somehow manages to capture both the old charm and the new energy of the neighborhood. It’s not just a restaurant — it’s part of the community, and one of the reasons we love living here. Highly, highly recommend. 🍝🍷
Highly recommend! One of the best Italian spots I've been to across NYC. Lively ambiance with super yummy food and great staff. Authentic Italian cuisine, and perhaps family / community owned as much of the staff was Italian. We had the mango spinach salad, the ricotta pear ravioli and the pesto fusilli. Finished the meal with a delicious tiramisu.
After a long day- the wife and I decided to grab a late-night snack from Sole DeLuna and amazed is what we are. Finally satisfied. The cheese balls are amazing and the gnocchi to die for. We are going to come back. Although we ordered takeout- next time we will order in. The restaurant although small is very cozy and seems like a nice spot to sit and eat. Manager is nice and easy to talk to. Helped us order and helped us receive our order. Very nice restaurant. We will return. >Review from Marissa and Jack
This is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants I've been to in NYC. It is understated and would be easy to walk by without thinking twice. But after the first meal here my wife and I decided we had to have her birthday dinner here. It was just as incredible the second time. I am genuinely in awe of this place. Amazing hospitality, incredible food. I'm not even a restaurant guy, I generally prefer to cook at home. But, this restaurant cannot leave my mind and taunts me to come back.
I googled for best restaurants in Sunnyside. Soleluna was one of’em. I walked in and sat myself down by a window side. Chelsea offered me the menus and water with a smile. 👍👏‼️ I asked for her recommendations and had Burrata to start with and Papardelle Al Funghi. She made my day-off! Every bite was delish and esp Papardelle was full of flavor. She and Nico stopped by a few times to ask me if I was enjoying!? This calls for hospitality! Attention to details. I chose to have Panna cotta, which she seconded as a very good dessert. It was a home run‼️🫶😋❣️It’s a beautiful room, great ambiance w music. Friendly service. The room was full of energy. This is my new destination for lunch! Kudos to chef/ owner and team 🫵🫡🫶‼️😋😋 luved it. Ty. Best presentations of dishes❣️❣️
Dining at Soleluna was an unforgettable experience, warm, welcoming, and bursting with authentic Italian charm. From the moment we stepped in, the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving. It’s rare to find a place where hospitality and quality walk so perfectly hand in hand. We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted with free bread, a thoughtful touch, and honestly, not bad at all. A simple start, but it set the tone for what was to come. To begin, we had the Carpaccio di carne, a beautifully presented appetizer of thinly sliced raw filet mignon served with arugula, cherry tomatoes, and shaved Parmigiano. The flavors were bold and rich, though for my personal taste, the dish would’ve been even better without the Parmesan. The meat was already perfectly seasoned, and while the salad on top added freshness, the cheese pushed the saltiness a little too far. Still, a lovely dish with tons of character. The grilled octopus on mashed potatoes was an absolute standout, tender, perfectly grilled, and paired with the creamiest mashed potatoes. It was both rustic and refined, and the seasoning was spot-on. Our main course, the Trofie al pesto, was exceptional. The handmade twisted pasta had the perfect bite, and the basil pesto sauce was fresh, aromatic, and deeply flavorful. You could taste the quality in every forkful, it’s a dish that makes you close your eyes just to savor the moment. To drink, we enjoyed the Lime Caipiriñha a bright, refreshing cocktail made with Cachaça, lime, sugar, and club soda. It was balanced and crisp, a perfect contrast to the richness of the meal. We finished with the pistachio chocolate gelato, which was smooth, decadent, and just the right amount of sweet. The pistachio flavor really came through and paired beautifully with the dark chocolate. Every dish (with the exception of the Parmesan-heavy carpaccio) was perfectly seasoned and flavored, showcasing the kitchen’s skill and respect for good ingredients. If you’re looking for a special night out, this place will not disappoint. We’ll definitely be back.
I can certainly appreciate the authentic Italian cuisine at this establishment as well as the atmosphere. My group felt welcomed by the outstanding staff here and we spent most of the time laughing with the staff while catching up. The pasta is top notch and make sure you ask about the specials before settling on a menu item. Thanks for a great evening.
Recently came with a friend and we both enjoyed it! We'd definitely come back to try more of their dishes! Solid dishes and generous portion sizes. We got the: sotto le stelle salad with chicken - fresh ingredients and generous portion size Faggotini alla valerio - nice hint of sweetness to the filling and the butter and rosemary sauce was so good! This was probably the favorite of the night. Gnocci al tartufo - smelled amazing because of course it did with the truffle oil! It was good but not as good as the faggotini and I was slightly surprised given everyone else's reviews for this dish.
Dinner with friends was great. This place is my friend favorite. Food is excellent, good service and good vibes. We start with a dozen of oysters. Impepata Di Cozze (muzzles) I love the sauce, so taste. Burrata is fresh. Main course we have..... - Pollo: chicken is soft and not dry. - Lamb Chop: I love this dish; lamb is no smell and cooked perfectly. - Pappardelle Ai Funghi: pasta is al dente! We share a bottle of Amarone. Good wine! I will probably come back to try more food. I'm glad my friend introduces me to a good spot.
Blown away by how authentic and delicious this Italian food is. Tasted like my nonna made some of it. I enjoyed the tomato sauce with the squash blossoms, the lobster raviolis were to die for, and the broccoli rabe with white fish was excellent as well. We were stuffed but got tiramisu and it was the first time in a long time that I was telling my wife this is how it tasted as kids. I have to mention the coffee and the beer I had from amorediNapoli because they were great as well. Service was quick with great suggestions. The location is a medium sized nice place for dates and families. I highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
I went to this restaurant just for oysters Monday and the food looked so great that I had to order 3 more dishes. Everything was amazing, the mushroom fettucini was tasteful, the octopus pasta was just on point. They have a small but tasty wine selection at good prices. Don't get full of food and save some space for dessert you're not gonna be disappointed, I'd come back just to try all of them
My new favorite Italian restaurant! I had heard about it but hadn’t gotten around to try it. The food was sooo tasty and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. It made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. Will definitely be coming back on a regular basis and will be spreading the word about this lovely place(:
This is what you want from a local, neighborhood restaurant. Amazing food, friendly service and above all, a great casual ambiance to share with friends and family. Everything we ate here was amazing. From the antipasti, to the main course and ending on dessert, the food was prepared with precision in every bite. Definitely get the rice balls of the day. Always different, you never know what you'll get inside (unless you ask what it is of course!) Must try the faggotini, mini ravioli like pasta stuffed with pear and cheese. It's so good, a friend had to have seconds and ordered one for dessert! Come hungry and preferably with friends, get a bottle of wine and enjoy!
Came here at noon for a brunch with my family and we loved everything we ate. The food tasted fresh, the tiramisu was my favorite. Some of the food may be a little under seasoned but it isn’t something a little extra salt and pepper can’t fix. We would definitely come back and would recommend to everyone near the area.
The food was spectacular. I had a lasagna bolognese, and even though it wasn’t served the way I thought it would. It was delicious. I normally never eat salad but the Buratta, Insalata Sotto Le Stelle was both amazing. Limited options for dessert, I’d say go got the tiramisu. A friendly staff with a heavy accent but will get the job done and even more. Atmosphere is bar setting.
I went to this Italian restaurant in Sunnyside after seeing a 4.7 rating on Google. However, my opinion is a bit different. Don't be fooled by rating. First, the pasta was below expectations. The flavor of the ingredients wasn't fully apparent. Second, one of the two staff members had a very irritating and unpleasant attitude. Everyone at our table felt as if they were being ignored when taking our order. The only thing that was notable was the coffee. This is definitely not a restaurant I'd return to. New York City is a vast city, and there are so many friendly and delicious Italian restaurants.
