Phoebe's Syracuse Reviews
Phoebe’s did a fantastic job for our daughter’s baby shower. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was absolutely delicious and served hot. The staff was extremely accommodating and so friendly.. The event planners were so helpful and reassuring through the whole planning process. I highly recommend this venue for a small event!
We had our work holiday group party at this restaurant! This is our 3rd time for the holiday lunch party! The food, service and atmosphere are great! The staff was excellent and high quality service! The Parlor room is very cozy and great for a group of 20-25 people! We will come again!
Working at SU, I find myself at Phoebe’s often — and every single visit is delicious. My mom hosted my Baby Sprinkle here this past summer, and it was the perfect venue. The food and service were outstanding, the private room was beautiful, and the team made everything incredibly easy. (Plus, the parking is a true bonus!) Hosting a celebration at Phoebe’s made me appreciate it even more. Highly recommend.
We had a great meal here. My daughter had the pork shank. I stole a biteful or two ... Very flavorful as were the potatoes and cauliflower! I had the veggie burger with fries. Yah, I enjoyed it! We had the cheesecake for dessert which we thought was yummy. Service was attentive, staff had wonderful attitudes. We really like the atmosphere. We definitely will come again!
My co-workers and I love this place so much. We order lunch from here once to twice a week. Their fall menu is well thought out, delicious, and just so cute. I love the vibes inside the restaurant and the people working there are very kind and attentive. I really like the fall grilled cheese & the risotto. I can't wait to try something else next week.
We hosted my daughter’s baby shower here, and it could not have been more perfect! From the very beginning, the staff including Manager and Assistant Manager made everything stress-free and went above and beyond to make the day special. The event space was beautifully set up, warm, and inviting—the perfect atmosphere for celebrating with family and friends. The food was absolutely outstanding—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Our guests are still raving about it! Service was exceptional; the staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making sure everything went smoothly. I am so grateful to Phoebe’s for helping us create such a memorable day. I would highly recommend this restaurant not only for everyday dining but also for hosting special occasions. We will definitely be back!
Haven’t eaten here in years…so happy that we chose phoebes for dinner! Everything was excellent—bright, comfortable atmosphere with tables well-distanced, superb service (thanks to Ana) and best of all—delicious food! Wonderful flavor combinations in every dish—perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented! Prices are fair and well worth it! We will be back here soon!
We went here Saturday for a late valentines day dinner and it was good! For an app we got the fried artichoke which was delicious! I started with the brocoli cheddar soup which was a bit disappointing, it was more like blended brocoli broth- not creamy and no chunks of brocoli like I'm used to. The mains were good, the short rib was delicious and well cooked. The salmon was also well cooked, but the composition with the risotto and cooked greens topped with raw mushrooms was a bit confusing, decent flavor overall. The creme brulee was very good to finish off. Service could've been better, the server seemed new so I'll cut her some slack there. Overall this was a nice experience, the restaurant is beautiful inside and the food is good, we will definitely be putting this into our rotation.
Update, went with a large group of 11 people and had a very nice time. Food continues to be wonderful, the staff is kind, helpful and attentive and it's really nice inside. I'm going to add a short commentary at the very bottom if you're interested in the large group payment process, otherwise you can just read about the awesome stuff from previous visits as well... My wife and I have always enjoyed Phoebe's. Every time we have gone it's been such a pleasurable experience. Smooth, pleasant and quick service with really good to great food. Our most recent visit we had poutine, pork, duck, and berry tart. The holy cow that was fantastic awards goes to the poutine and tart, absolute must try options. The duck was cooked to perfection and my wife was thinking it may be one of the best she's ever had. The pork was very good, it had some wonderful juicy bites and also some dry ones though. Pork is my go to order and I've had better for sure, but that's not to be mistaken for how delicious it still was. We will continue to come back and enjoy it more in the future, I encourage you to do the same. Enjoy!! First off, Phoebe's makes it clear what their policy and process is for this. Some responsibility is with us as the patrons. Groups larger than 8 will get 18% gratuity added, cool I actually think that's great. Taking care of large groups deserves that and as noted our server was wonderful. Unfortunately, they will not split the check. As you may imagine, not splitting the check creates fun for everyone, math ensues, labeling of credit cards and how much on each, adding it up, who did the math wrong and so on, and then we hand our disaster of a system over to our server and I don't know how it works for them but it took awhile and I felt terrible that we weren't prepared with another method to make it easier on them, or they as a policy for whatever reason, can't, or don't split the checks to begin with to save customers and staff alike the headache. An added 18% gratuity on split checks is the same number as one giant check, without the mess, thankfully math is a hero in that regard. As the patron, cash might be easier but if you're like myself, cash on hand is more of a rarity in my life as time goes on. If someone has a nice credit limit on their card and everyone does Venmo or a money exchange of that nature, you may be better off using those methods and you would save yourself and their staff the headache as well.
If you are in Syracuse and close to the University this is a must go place. Very nice ambience and I guess a lot of history to this place. I tried the Salmon and my daughter tried the Ceaser Salad with Grilled Chicken . Both were fresh and well made. The portions were right for brunch. Definitely deserves a second visit . Update 5/11/25 Went back to Phoebes for the nth time Great food We had the Tuscan pasta with Portabella mushrooms and shrimp Also we tried the salmon dish again with the wild rice and the chicken ceaser salad Food as always delicious and fresh It definitely a must go place if you are in Syracuse
Cool place, great service. The French Onion soup was a hug for my soul. I had the special of the day; Broccoli Quiche with pepper jack cheese. While the quiche was super thick, there wasn’t a hint of pepper jack cheese. It was disappointing because the quiche seems to be one of the foundational dishes. Observing some of the other dishes other patrons ordered, I wish I had chosen something different. Regardless, the Bloody Mary & the bartender were delightful & the atmosphere made up for the meh quiche. Would try this place again.
A friend and I recently had dinner at Phoebe’s upon her suggestion. I have visited the establishment before but it had been many years ago. It’s a quaint restaurant near SU and Syracuse stage. She was already seated at the bar when I arrived, we both enjoyed a Prosecco. We had reservations in the Atrium room but decided to eat at the bar. She ordered a salad and I escargot. They were promptly delivered and we ordered entrees Atlantic Salmon for her and Skirted Steak for myself. Both were good I felt like the salmon could have some type of flavoring to bring the dish altogether. The skirted steak was a pleasant meal as well, I enjoyed the garlic sauce that was unique. It didn’t have quite the flair that some of the newer downtown restaurants but is a solid oldie but goodie! Also more reasonably priced than some newer competitors.
Lovely cafe & restaurant in Syracuse with welcoming staff and good service. I had a delicious French onion soup to start. For the entree I had the salmon dish and asked for medium and to be served with double vegetables instead. The dish was ok, I didn't really enjoy the flavor of the salsa verde and the fish was cooked well done. However, the plate presentation was really pretty and they did comp a bit off the price since I only ate a few bites. I was still hungry so I ordered the spinach salad, it was tasty. I also ordered a dirty chai with a shot of espresso and I'm fairly certain they forgot the shot because it wasn't on my bill. Overall, a pretty good meal with a few hiccups but I'd definitely give them another try when I'm in the area.
My husband and I went here for a date night. We had a good time, but upon walking in it smelled like wet dog. Might have been the clam being sold that night, or maybe it’s just the smell of the entry way? Not sure. But once we got to our seats it was fine. The food is good, but nothing crazy. I had their steak, and my husband had the lamb sandwich. The steak definitely stood out. The chimmichurri sauce on top was excellent. The lamb sandwich was just nothing super special. My husband ended up wishing he got the steak as well. The atmosphere is charming, with a home-like feel. There was a bridal shower going on in the upper room in the restaurant but didn’t bother us at all. We could hear each other fine and had a lovely evening. I will say, I got a cocktail off their specials menu and was blown away. It was a peach mixed drink and I highly recommend. The service was also incredible. Waitress was very attentive and did a great job checking on us. All in all, not a waste and still a nice evening but not a place that we will likely return to any time soon.
Food wasn’t bad. But to me, bad customer service can make the food taste worse than it actually is. I felt very unwelcome by the waitress Emily R. I tried to get her attention 3 times and she clearly saw me and ignored me. I had to yell to get her attention. She also didn’t check if I needed anything all night. When I wanted lemon and more bread, I had to get up and call another waitress to get her for me. However, she was extremely attentive to the white girls next to me. I come from NYC where it’s way more diverse and every race treats every other race with respect. Ive never been treated that way ever in my town.Actually, I’ve never been treated that way period. This is the first time I’ve experienced racism first hand so I’m gonna call it out. I know this is a predominantly white area, but ya’ll need to get out more to learn how to treat others with respect regardless of race. Btw I’m an Asian American woman. To close, I’m not the type to completely discount a place because of one person’s shortcomings. I would like to come here again and try the other food options. Hopefully, next time I’ll be treated with respect. . -Kat
