West End Cafe Taylor Reviews
So glad that they opened a Texan Cafe in Taylor!!! Much easier to drive to from Elgin than the Hutto location and still great pies.
Outstanding addition to the City. Good value, good food. The BLT and fries is likely the best value in town for a meal even compared to a burger fries from a fast food spot. Queso appetizer was awesome and for a non-steakhouse, the sirloin was fantastic.
We got the chicken fried rice yesterday steak, it was delicious. We will definitely be back.
I had a really good chicken fried steak with brown gravy mashed potatoes and green beans.

This little gym of a restaurant was found in taylor texas in the downtown area. There's quite a bit of parking. There is handicap accessibility. The food was really good.I had the liver and onions, and they had the homemade mac and cheese and homemade rice and broccoli, which is very good.Well worth it.My husband had a chicken fried steak in fridge.Fries and the fries are also made.Everything was really good.Everything's homemade there. My daughter she had the chopped steak in gravy, and she also had the Mac and cheese like I did. And I cannot remember the other side, but everything was really good. And then afterwards we had the fried pie with vanilla. Ice cream Blue Bell, obviously. But it was very delicious. And to start off, we had the jalapeno caps and the homemade fried green tomatoes is so so good, but well worth it.The atmosphere is great.Plenty of seating the waitress she was phenomenal. The cooks know their stuff as well.So I suggest this five star 😋 spot
Starting off with the food..absolutely amazing, me and my family got fried pickles, and fried green tomatoes for appetizers and they were deliciousssssss, the ranch was amazing aswell. I got the cheese burger substituted the mustard for mayo and the mayo is absolutely delicious, best burger ive ever had in my life and i LOVE burgers so you know it was good, the meat had great flavor, was juicy, not to thick not thin, the cheese was 👌. Fries are crispyyyyyyyyy, my ma got the liver and onions she said it was delicious. Also the burgers are great size like they are bigggg. The place has a homey feel and is comfortable. I can’t believe the place had been open for a year and i just now went. Its a little, LITTLE pricey but i say the food is worth it, i got coconut cream pie and it was sooo good man, i 100% recommend basing off when i went and personally i prefer this one in taylor over the one in hutto.
We had chicken fried steak with 2 sides and grilled sausage with 2 sides and a soft drink. There was plenty of food and everything tasted great. The staff was very attentive and friendly.
My family and I stopped in for dinner before graduation because of great reviews. We were not disappointed. Food and desserts were great. The restaurant is clean and organized and the staff make you feel at home.
Dang, now that's doing it right. Friendly folks, burgers are good and huge. Taste just like grilling them at home. Now, those boudin egg rolls are insanely good.
I got the chicken fried rib eye steak today and it was DELICIOUS! The sides were also! I didn’t get pie today because they didn’t have the sugar free one that I saw on menu online; i am diabetic. I hope they have it next time! My favorite pie is the Guy Pie, but they haven’t had it when I was there.
We went a couple weekends ago while we were in town. They have sooooooooo many pie options. I got the Chocolate toffee and it was amazing, best pie I've ever had! Lunch service was great - I got a sandwich and it was very good, I tried fried green tomatoes for the first time and they were amazing. To me they tasted like a cross between fried pickles and fried zucchini
I ordered food to go, especially bleu cheese burger was amazing and it was huge! The rhubarb pie was so delicious and not too sweet. Waiter was extremely nice and helpful. Definitely going back.

Amazing food and service!! Go check it out! Such a great place and to see hardly anyone in there was heartbreaking. Will be going back weekly!!

This place is a true gem. The fish was so good and filling. The chocolate silk pie was so delicious. The crust was flakey and it wasn't overly sweet- definitely an indulgence I will glad seek again.

Been there several times. The food is good, nothing out of this world. The chicken fried steak was very salty and we had to pay 59 cent extra for more dressing because the salad did not come with enough dressing.
We needed good places to eat and the Texan Cafe is a great fit. We have eaten there a few times, mostly successful. A couple things to know, first, they do not have the exact same food as their Hutto location and their specials that show up on their website as available in Taylor location are not necessarily accurate, call if you are going for something specific you’re craving. Their chicken and dumplings, catfish, shrimp, sides, Texas toast and onion rings were all fantastic and portions are to make sure you don’t leave hungry. If you’re craving liver and onions, think twice unless you prefer them well done and a bit on the tough side.
Chocolate meringue pie was awesome! Their pork chop was very tasty but a lil thinner than expected. Only deduction was the fries, if they were hand cut or even just an uncoated fry, it really would have made it. Great lil diner.

It okay, I've been here twice, first time I ate inside with a friend. Second time I called in a ordered of sweet potatoe fries To-go but wasn't allowed to do so unless I paid in advance over the phone, so I just waited until I arrived to put in the order, and then while I'm there in person and paying cash, I was again refused to put my order in unless I gave them my phone number! If I wouldn't of already promised them to my son I would of walked out! These two demands and refusal to take order until these demands were made, will make sure I never return.

If you're all about eating nothing, but a bunch of crust, this is the place for you started off with the fried tomatoes, they were sliced, so thin, all you tasted was crust, then my wife ordered the fried oyster dinner, which was supposed to be whole oysters, most of them wasn't even bigger than the size of a quarter, and most of that was crust. And then they put my what was supposed to be a Chicken Fried steak in front of me, which had a ball of crust on the side of the plate about the size of a baseball and what was left the meat inside of it was so paper-thin you could barely taste it over the crust, but what little bit of meat was inside that was thick enough to taste was very tasty, just highly disappointed that people think they have to beat a piece of meat to try to cover the plate instead of leaving it thick enough to taste it. I guess you have to come in with a camera crew to get a decent plate at this place. Don't buy the hype it's not worth it.
Ordered two coconut cream pies for Thanksgiving at the Taylor location. We have always ordered from the Hutto location and the coconut cream pies there were the best ever. Sadly, the Taylor location sold us the two worst coconut cream pies we have ever tasted..They were "pasty" tasting and a fake color yellow inside. Not at all appetizing. Really hated having to pay around $25 per pie when they were not edible. Will not be going back to the Taylor location ever!
The food literally made me sick the green beans were so rubbery and taste less my Burger was soggy and honestly everything tasted like cafeteria food. My mashed potatoes had absolutely zero seasoning And I ordered fries for my burger and got another side of hard mashed potatoes

came in at a slow time. asked for a booth. all the booths were sitting there i cleaned. iced tea was very watery and flavorless. blue cheese burger had a tiny dab of cheese, no blue cheese dressing as described in the menu. kitchen forgot to put bacon burger. waitress brought out a wad of bacon in a puddle of grease, looked like it was cooked on a dirty skillet. i did not eat it. burger was ordered medium, came out burnt and very dry. fries were soggy and gross. go to plowman’s or 2nd street station if you want a good burger.
