Tipsy Moose Troy Reviews
Adirondack Dip & Chicken w/waffles. 3 of us split ...everything was amazing...as usual. No more 5 star review Went back for more, several weeks later...HORRIBLE! So disappointed in both meals. The meat in the Adirondack sandwich was nothing but chunks of white fat. The chicken was so hard and salty. It was like they refried it and served it again. Serving up old food and scraps are not getting a good review. Our bartender was good but unfortunately I can't remember her name.
The food runner Linda was amazing!!!! She turned our whole experience around.
Stopped here for a late lunch after a day of 3 different craft fairs. We were seated quickly, friendly wait staff, appreciated good feedback for the chef, plenty of choices for beer lovers, standard wines for wine drinkers, full bar and creative menu items. The French onion soup was delicious with a twist of smoked brisket...divine. I also opted for the veggie quesadillas which were filled with cheese, beans, corn, tomatoes and sauted onions. They were messy to eat but oh, so good! Sides of sour cream, salsa and some chips were included. I had been to Latham, but only for drinks because that place at the time was packed for dinner. This was no different as far as "packed" was concerned. Obviously the place to be on a sunny, late fall weekend afternoon. Definitely will be back.
We had a great experience here after a traumatic evening at the nearby vet hospital. Leia treated us so nicely and we enjoyed a mac and cheese flight, a Philly cheese steak and a tipsy chicken sandwich. Huge portions and solid cocktail game, too. Tky for giving us a moment of respite after a challenging event.
We have beem to thier original location in Latham before so we decided to check out thier 2nd location. It was packed . We didnt have to wait that long .The dining roomis kinda small and all the tables are close together. We ordered the BBQ pulled pork nachos and the meat lovers quasidillas. They were great. All the staff were friendly and seemed happy.
This place was awesome. I was in town for a day and met up with a sizable group. I thought it was a regular town bar. Menu was great and the food was fantastic. I had a chicken sandwich that was so good. I also had a pink ranch water and ordered one for my friend. It was so good he called me up the next day and asked what it was. I called the tipsy moose and asked for the ingredients.
Stopped in for dinner with the kid. Food, as always, was delicious. Served fast and hot.
The staff, the service and the food was fantastic. It was a nice find, that didn't disappoint. The different mac and cheese selections were really good and they have a choice of a 3 flight mac and cheese that we highly recommend. The only thing to remember is if you want the lobster mac, there's an eleven dollar up-charge; my wife found it worth it. I had the cowboy burger and I needed to bring half of it home there was so much toppings 😏😀👏👏 Drink prices seemed fair and the cocktails were tasty 😋 👌
Went there to pick up the doordash order and not only the first the second but the third time the staff was awesome, friendly and the food was hot and ready for my pickup
One of our mom and pop go to’s. We love brunch and the mimosa flight but also love the Mac and cheese options and the bacon maple sweet potato fries!!! Really the entire menu is great. Please bring back the brunch steak and egg flat bread!! Troy is our go to location but will occasionally visit Latham .
Very friendly staff and overall vibe. The brisket sandwich had a tasty combo of tangy and sweet. Another customers got the brisket jalapeno Mac and cheese. He said he was having a hard time deciding between that and the brisket sandwich. We agreed, wouldn't go wrong with either one.
I ordered tonight and I have to say the service was top tier..From placing the order to pickup then consuming..I ordered the jalapeño popper cheeseburger which in itself was incredible with sweet potato fries and I couldn't stop saying how great the food was after each and every single bite!! Everything was cooked perfectly!!! I highly recommend (I would have taken a photo but it looked and smelled so good I immediately dove right in) I promise you will not be disappointed 😊😊😊
Such great atmosphere at the Tipsy Moose of Troy, NY. The menu choices are well prepared, fresh and delicious with very attentive staff. You'll also find a tasty selection of specialty brews and domestic beers on tap. Love this place..... But is there any chance the staff can let the nitrogen brews settle at the tap before serving? It's a hit or miss on which bartender knows how to pour with nitrogen.
If you love dive bars, delicious food and a laid back atmosphere, you have to check this place out.
Grandson and I was looking for a place for dinner. Upon his recommendation, we stopped in. We had the Bullwinkle burger. The whole meal including the best burger I've had in years, and the onion rings were great. But that smoked bacon was something that can't be described. The greatest smoked bacon BY FAR!. Tipsy Moose is now our dinner stop on the regular.
Food was very tasty (especially the french onion soup) and the craft beer selection was good but I have some nitpicks. The brisket for the brisket sandwich should be cut smaller and the cuban sandwich was quite dry. Also they should offer some of their meats as platters rather than forcing it to be inside sandwiches.
We’re trying to find something to eat visiting a friend in Troy from mass and we are so happy we found this place. There is not enough stars to give this place a rating! Their food is all house made even the pickles! Their food is beyond unbelievable! This is the best food I’ve had eating out in like a year or so! I’d drive over an hour once in a while just to eat here! They also have their own wine which I didn’t try but assume it’s as good as their food! 12/10
Amazing food. The brisket taco and the Philly cheese steak is my go to. Great staff and quality dishes you can't go wrong with Tipsy Moose 10/10
My fiance and I went to the Tipsy Moose and were blown away. We got the sausage gravy poutine with chicken and they served it in a huge cast iron skillet. It was delicious and we could only finish half of it because there was so much food! We decided to get burgers; I got the Bullwinkle and he got the black and blue. They were the best burgers and to make it better we had onion rings as a side. We went home with plenty of leftovers. Amazing quality, huge portions, and service was great. Highly recommend!
Loved this place. The beer selection is incredible. The poutine selection is to die for! I had the brisket sandwich (melts in your mouth) and my husband the pulled pork (yummers). 🤤 FREAKING Ah-MAZE-ing. The bacon gravy with shredded pork is a cardiologist’s nightmare BUT worth the clogged arteries. The explosion of flavor is a party in your mouth for sure! Good to the last drop in that cast iron skillet! {got too excited for the poutine and forgot the pictures}
The wife and I stopped in late on a Sunday for dinner. With only a few tables occupied, we were seated immediately and had friendly, attentive service. Their beer list is fairly extensive, with many local/regional craft selections and high-quality imports. Certainly plenty there for every taste. Like their Latham shop, the food at this Tipsy Moose was excellent. Mac and Cheese was outstanding. My seitan wings, while not everyone's taste, were very nicely prepared. The General Tso's sauce was unique and tasty, although I wish it was a bit more spicy. I didn't see anything come out of the kitchen that didn't look incredible. We will definitely be back. Stop by and try The Tipsy Moose out for yourself.
The waitress was very friendly. The food is always great. The atmosphere was slow then they got hammered. Great time.
my son and I went there for lunch. As always, the food was excellent. I enjoy the dark beer selections. My son got the pulled pork, mac and cheese and he loved it. Sandwich was phenomenal.
Really interesting menu with lots of choices. I was passing through the area and stopped here with a group. They took good care of us and everyone enjoyed thier food. This place is a winner for sure.
I really enjoy tipsy moose, when it’s good. I use to go there more frequently but then we stopped going bc we found some of our favorites, are not consistent. Mac n cheese will be perfect one visit & the next it’s like completely different Mac n cheese. After a while of not going, we finally decided to have tipsy moose one night, wings & Mac n cheese were great. Few weeks later we come back and we order the usual, mild wings and pulled pork Mac n cheese. The wings were so spicy, I was breaking a sweat & had teary eyes..no big deal but when we’re paying almost $20 for wings to not even come out right, it’s definitely a let down. Mac n cheese was just not the right consistency and not what it usually would be. Service was good for how busy it was.
new favorite place to eat omg!! Everything was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!!! If i could rate higher than 5 stars i would. If you’re worried about high prices, just know you 100% get what you pay for, HUGE portions and delicious food!!
Came here on a Tuesday evening around dinner time. We sat at the bar and were served promptly. They have a solid selection of craft beers which is what drew our group to begin with (this includes ciders and non-IPAs!). Prices were standard for pub fare. I was excited to find seitan wings and fried cheese curds on the menu! I opted for the cheese curds this time but they were so delish that I cant wait to return for the seitan. There was also poutine on the menu, but I didn't get to ask if it had vegetarian gravy (I assumed not because the menu didnt say it was). Looking forward to returning.
Best Mac n cheese. Hands down. Got it w some chicken. Seriously best I have ever had. Service was lacking but atmosphere is friendly.
I live less than 1/2 mile away and after 3x we could be seated. The site has been through a few changes since I have lived in the neighborhood. The Tipsy Moose in Latham is always packed and so is this one. The food is different and comforting and the staff is accommodating and kind. A couple of months later, till delicious and staff was wonderful and fast with our dinner! Thank you!
We went for a late lunch at 3 PM. Not a long wait. They told us 25 to 30 minutes but it was only 10. There are a ton of options on the menu. It was really hard to choose what to get but the favorites are highlighted on the menu so it made it a little bit easier. Wautress was really nice and answered all of my questions without a problem. We got garlic bread bits, Buffalo chicken dip & chips, a flight of Mac & cheese (cheeseburger pulled pork and Buffalo chicken), 12 wings with garlic-parmesan and hot Buffalo sauce mixed. The garlic bread bits were meh but everything else was great. Portion sizes are huge for the price you pay. Our bill came to $69. We had a about 3 meals worth of leftovers to bring home. Wait staff was really friendly. They checked on us a ton. Highly recommend.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Seems as though they have a option for everyone. They have great Mac and cheese, burgers, as well as options of salads that were delectable! The servings exceeded expectations in size! The atmosphere was nice and clean no complaints. Service was quick and pleasant.
I cannot express enough how delightful this entire menu is. Everything is served in large portions, and is very fresh. Even when the restaurant is at max capacity, the food is served very quickly with friendly service. I have never had a problem with the staff here. The location feels more open and less claustrophobic than the Latham location, and there is more parking spots as well. Nice variety of local beers as well. Cans and on tap. Overall, this a great spot for some very good quality food. You won't be leaving hungry. Pictures attached show the Pulled Pork & Wisconsin Cheese Curd Poutine, Chili Mac n Cheese, and Pressed Cuban Sandwich.
One of the best places in town, happens to be in South Troy. Smaller cozy inside area. Amazing outdoor seating. Staff and service is phenomenal. All the food is consistently good. Amazing beer and drinks menu. Try the home made coffee maple whiskey and the blackened beef tips. Don't worry about the parking situation, just park out of the way towards the back and you'll be fine. Deli&brew is closed at night anyway lol.
Great food, good cozy atmosphere with indoor/outdoor seating. Waitress was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable on food and beer. Her recommendations were on point. The Adirondack Dip w/fries, Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald (Porter) and Woodstock Kan (Imperial Stout) were OMG delicious. GREAT beer options. My friends ordered Pulled Pork Sandwich w/Sweet Potato Fries, Mac Flight, House Salad w/Chicken and Black & Blue Salad w/Steak - everything was VERY GOOD (the only complaint: Sweet Potato Fries and Flight Macs were warm, not hot, and two of the three mac flights were lacking some robust flavor). Regardless, we had a very good experience, and all want to go back. Definitely recommend!
We sat at the bar. The bartender was fantastic. She did everything right the food was outstanding everything hot and fresh. What a great atmosphere.
This is our favorite restaurant in the Capital District area! The staff is so friendly, receptive to accommodations for allergies, and attentive. The food is on the pricier side, but the portions are fairly large. I always have leftovers to take home. Alcoholic drinks are affordable compared to similar restaurants in the area. If you are only getting one or no drinks, the price range per person is more like $20-30. I put $30-40 since we always get a few drinks because the main bartender is also in management and he is AMAZING! He is so warm and kind, he even wrote down the instructions to make my favorite drink and told me the episode of a show on Netflix where he perfected his technique for a Cosmopolitan. The only downside is they don't take reservations and there is limited physical space to wait for a table, but they will call you if you want to want to wait in your car or nearby. They are efficient in clearing tables and getting the check sorted so tables come up pretty fast. In the winter I would suggest bringing a hoodie or sweater in with you, the draft from the door opening and closing can hit you if you're seated towards the front. Other than that the room temperature, seating, and general atmosphere is very cozy.
Went for the first time today drove about an hour to get there. The food was fantastic and well worth it not super expensive and you definitely get what you pay for the staff super friendly the drinks were well made just an all in all good experience definitely will be going again!!!
The Tipsy Moose Tap & Tavern delivered a great experience on a busy Sunday night during football. Even with the bar packed, the two girls working behind it provided fantastic service—attentive, friendly, and quick, despite the crowd. The food was good, well-prepared, and came out in a reasonable time considering how busy it was. The drinks were great as always, crafted well and consistently solid. Overall, a lively atmosphere paired with strong service made for an enjoyable visit that even my 83 year old mother enjoyed.
Absolutely great experience. Coming back from a motocross race weekend and decided to try this place out. Was nervous because we have campers, dogs, and equipment in our toy haulers. When we arrived I asked if it was possible to sit outside on the patio, and when given a yes I also asked it was okay to have our dogs sit outside with us on a leash due to our situation. Im not entirely sure if its a normal or allowed but they didnt even hesitate and agreed. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere and area was nice/safe feeling. But it didnt stop there the food was absolutely delicious. I had the pulled prom mac and cheese, my boyfriend had the philly cheese, and our friend had the moose knuckle (love the name btw) Everyone was extremely satisfied and very affordable. If we lived closer I would go often, but will definitely be savimg the location for next years moto race. Thank you guys!
I love this restaurant. The theming and vibe of this place is fun and really feels like we are in the Adirondacks. The food here is great, definitely should get some Mac and cheese while you are here. The Mac and cheese flights are a great option if you want to try multiple of their flavors. They also have lots of poutine options that are also worth trying. Overall one of my favorite restaurants overall.
Great comfort food. Staff is really friendly and accommodating. We asked to sit outside and only up front was open but that was cool with us. Usually, you need to order at the bar but the bartender provided full service. He was super awesome to us! My daughter loves the mac and cheese and I had an amazing chicken sandwich. My wife had a brisket sandwich and loved it. The maple fries are a great starter too!
I’m visiting my sister from SC. She’s lived close to the Tipsy Moose for years and has only just started going so this was my first time. I lived the atmosphere! The service was also very good. We tried the “something in the orange” cocktail. It was delicious along with the blackberry margarita and the peach sangria. The strewn corn dip was delicious along with the cheeseburger Mac n cheese. I will definitely make this a regular when I come to visit.
Saturday afternoon lunch with my brother. Easy to find if you don’t live in the area. Decent parking but fills up fast. The vibe was cool, hip from the second you walk in. Very good Adirondack lodge feel. Lively. Busy but not crazy. Staff was amazing from the get go. Friendly, attentive and smiles all around. Great draft beer selection! Had the Shipyard pumpkin ale. Would have tried more but drove a bit of a distance. I had the Tipsy Chicken sando and my brother had the pulled pork nachos. Portions huge. Sweet potato fries were lovely. Everything was delicious. Would definitely go back. Sweet chill vibe. Go check it out. ❤️
Excellent brunch experience. We went on a Saturday morning around 10 am and had the whole place to ourselves. Staff was friendly with good service. Cool log cabin atmosphere. The build your own Bloody Mary bar is definitely a perk as well as mimosa flights. Small menu with delicious meat lover options. Wouldn't recommend for a vegetarian/vegan. Great spice and textures on hash browns. Overwhelming breakfast portions in cast iron skillets guarantees mouth watering excitement. Looking forward to next time.
Great Atmosphere- Adirondack theme in the city of Troy!! Great beer selection!! The Moose Knuckle Burger, Garlic Parm wings, and their Mac and Cheese will have you stopping back for more. I am happy that this establishment is finally here- definitely worth the wait!! Parking is limited and the bar/eatery have been packed on all our visits; even on a midweek day at 2.
We love a good poutine and haven’t found anywhere in America that gets as close to a proper Canadian poutine as Tipsy Moose. This place has great bar food and we highly recommend the poutine. The cheese curds and gravy are a great salty and savory balance over fries. This meal would be great in the winter as it will keep you warm for hours. The spicy fried cheese curds were well-seasoned and paired well with the raspberry sauce. The sweetness of the raspberry really complimented the savory, slightly spicy, cheese curds. We saw in other reviews that people recommended the Mac n’ cheese here so I ordered the Buffalo chicken Mac n’ cheese. Although, I highly underestimated how spicy buffalo sauce is in upstate New York and while it was delicious and I enjoy spicy food, I would prefer the regular next time. Overall, this place has a good pub vibe, interesting decor, and comfort food!
Since moving to the area, we have been wanting to try Tipsy Moose. Moving during a pandemic has it’s limitations to eating out, so takeout is the next best thing. Ordered through Grubhub. The Philly Cheese steak was okay... the peppers could have been more cooked. The filet tips were tender and full of flavor. The tomato bisque, it was okay. It’s understandable take out will never be the same as eating at the place. I always keep that into consideration when tasting their foods and rating them. Maybe we will be there sooner than later, and can really appreciate it all.
Super tasty burgers, fries, and onion rings. Waitstaff are nice, the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, it has very themed decor that makes me really feel like a North-Easterner! But; it can sometimes feel awkward if you’re seated at a table in the middle of the room since you’ve got neighbors you could reach out and touch. Not too big of a deal though. Recommend!
The good: The restaurant itself looks good, service was great, the menu looks for the most part to be appatizing. The bad: I got the beer battered grilled cheese with brisket. (pictured) The batter was a bit overwhelming didn't really add anything positive to the meal. The brisket or the cheese was overwhelmingly smokey. It tasted like it was dunked in liquid smoke. It couldn't finish half my sandwich. The tomato soup was essentially bad marina sauce. Cambels soup or prego would have been an improvement. The ugly: The choice of location is terrible. There is practically no parking. Honestly with so many choices on where to eat I probably won't go back.
This place was okay. We had a waitress that seemed a bit snooty. The food was pretty good, but this place is not a place that would be at the top of my list to go back to.
I'm not sure what happened today but I order from Tipsy Moose quite frequently to my job via Mealeo. I usually order the bbq pork quesadilla and today I ordered additional food with a co worker. My quesadilla was very dry and over cooked. They did not provide sour cream on the side like they usually do, and I LOVE my sour cream... My coworker did not receive her side of fries and her BBQ pork sandwich was dry as well. I'm not sure what happened but I hope it doesn't happen again . I love Tipsy moose and I feel like this is unusual of them.
Wings were a disappointment considering how long it took. Trying to remember if I heard any music.... Although I did order a second one, the Old Fashion was not very good...in fact, I seem to be having issues finding a bar in this town that actually puts any effort into making a good cocktail. 1st bartender was friendly. 2nd bartender indifferent...enough that I no longer wanted to stay there. That beer belongs to someone else...and man, she was a bit of a narcissit I do think it cool that they sell a house brand flavored whiskey. Worth a second visit
I have been ordering from tipsy moose in Troy for over a year. This here leaves me very unsatisfied for sixteen dollars. Mind you I’ve ordered this before and have never been served such a portion and it would be placed in a smaller size pan. Got no good responses from the manager who told me I can bring it back if I’m not satisfied. No I’m not satisfied and no I’m not driving all the way back there because you are not management material. Are you going to reimburse me for my gas. I’ll definitely not be ordering again. I only ordered that because my coworker asked about the place and I told her they were great and so was their food. She sees me order their salad more often than not. Thank you but no thank you. Get it together. I didn’t even eat any. Called them right away.
I have not yet left. 3 star review on Yelp. Usually I love or don't love a place. But I found Tipsy Moose as meh. We were seated right away, the ambiance is great, I like that the drink menu is up on a big screen behind the bar and our waiter was fantastic! My husband and I ordered a sour beer each. Our waiter forgot to bring mine for about 10 minutes so I asked again and he brought it right away and comped it for the "trouble". He certainly didn't have to do that and was so kind. Now the meh part.... The food. We shared the artichoke dip and sausage gravy poutine which comes with fried chicken. The dip was a little skimpy. We ate all the dip and had more than 1/2 the chips left. For the price, I feel like they could double the amount of dip they give you. With the poutine, I enjoyed the taste of the seasoned fries. It I think they left it in the over a few minutes too long because many of the fried were very hard and inedible so we left about 1/2 on the plate. Will go back for a drink because I liked the drink menu, beer choices and ambiance but might skip the food next time.
Great food and neat touches with the branding of the bun with a moose 🫎. Edit: I am not sure what happened, but last night we went to dinner and it was the worst meal we have ever had there. The Ruben sandwich was super thin and the French dip I had had no resemblance of a French dip and I am not even sure the chef knew what one was. Said it came with a babeque au jue. I said I didn't want that and when it came out, it had babeque sauce all over it. Sent it back and when it came back as I had asked, it was like they put all fat in the sandwich and the bread was all soggy. There were no onions as listed. Definitely not able to pick it up to dip in the French onion soup I got on the side. Unlike most French dips, this was served with brisket, which I didn't realize was so fatty. We both woke up today with stomach pain and nausea. Not sure we will ever return.
I've visited both locations, latham and troy multiple times. I have no idea why people rave about it. If you want a good Mac and cheese go to juniors. Our Mac and cheese comes out bland at both locations. I've ordered chicken wraps 2 x, barely any chicken, all lettuce. Service slow and somewhat passive aggressive rude. Silver lining was they have moose head beer. Underwhelming and dissatisfied on all 4 visits, 2 per location.
This was one of the worst turkey reuben sandwiches I’ve ever had. It looks pretty tasty, but there was barely any dressing or sauerkraut. The fried bread was tasteless. In addition, the fries were lukewarm and clearly not made to order. Even the pickle wasn’t good. I am rating two starts instead of one because of the ambiance, the music playing was good, and the servers were friendly. The two people I ate with also were not impressed with the sandwiches that they ordered.
I was told great things about this place and there were some. The bottomless beverages, the music and the waitstaff. The food however was horrible. A table came in after me-ate, and left before I got this black, burnt charcoal of a sandwich and old greasy fries. McDonalds would have been better than this … I can’t even call this food. There is no way the kitchen didn’t know this was burnt when they sent it out.
Water came in a dirty glass, and two servers sat at the bar talking while what I can only assume is the youngest/newest waitress was waiting on us. She was fine, just not very experienced. The food was great, but the menus were disgusting, covered in food and syrup. The floor was slippery, and I did fall down taking a turn around a table. The other patrons were very concerned, but the staff ignored me. All in all I felt embarrassed, ignored, and will not be returning. The food was amazing, though... maybe get food to go if you must.
Service was ok and the place is cool. The fries were over cooked and crunchy, and was never offered ketchup or any other sauce. I was never offered napkins either. I like this place but it was a disappointing experience.
What a change for the worst. I order the Tuesday taco special which I have gotten from both Tipsey Moose locations with selections like Thai Chicken. What I got this time around after a 25 minute wait was an overcooked burger with an egg on top upon a flatbread. Tasteless and odd. A taco it wasn’t. I think they ran out of tacos and just threw something together. When I ordered a IPA that the beer list said was a 16 ounce pour, I got a 12 ounce . When I asked, I was told the beer list was a misprint. Finally the bill included a cc surcharge which I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t looked at the bill. I thought they went out with COVID. So I guess you’re supposed to tip on the tip ? Overall a major downturn from my previous visits.
Ordered the battered grilled cheese sandwich…inedible. All batter, no grilled cheese. The worst part of the meal was our waitress. I asked her name & she said Clarissa. She was by far the worst server I’ve ever had. Rude from the minute we seated ourselves. Not attentive, never asked about our food or I would have told her about the inedible grilled cheese sandwich. She kept disappearing. Her attitude towards our table was disgusting. Idk what her issue was but I will not return. I used to love the Tipsy Moose…especially the cheesecake, but I will not be returning. I’m still upset over this experience. Also, the music was so loud we couldn’t hear each other speak. Asked her to turn it down but that didn’t happen
Order two steak salads last night $60 w/ tip pickup w/ in 22 mins from ordered had them on the table within 4 minutes. The steak was ice cold you couldn’t cut it with a saw. I called tipsy move to ask them if they pre-cook the steak they said no I said I picked it up within 20 minutes and had it on my table within three minutes after that and it was ice cold so rough you couldn’t even cut the meat , We’ve been ordering this meal since it’s opened. I can now tell you I am done with tipsy move.
If your from the south and value taste then this is not the place for you. Wings were overcooked with no seasoning, fries were dry with no type of seasoning when I order the Cajun fries and the Mac and cheese were horrible with no salt. I’m from Louisiana so we take pride in taste and what I experience tonight for $50 was not it. I GOT ROBBED!!!!!!!!!!!
Canceled our holiday work lunch order. What a bunch of grinches. Waited an hour to cancel the order, no notification. Hope no one gets sick and calls the health department on them.
