The Local Fix Uvalde Reviews
Atmosphere was amazing, the server super friendly. I got to meet Cabe one of the cooks he was super awesome and the food was the best i’ve tried in uvalde. I highly recommend The Local Fix to anyone wanting to try something new.
We already had reservations set for a mini baby sprinkle event before the closure for renovations but Tom made sure our event was still taken care of and made me and my guest feel super welcomed. The server who greeted us was Jocelyn & she was amazing! She was super friendly & on top of everything!! Thank you to Tom, Jocelyn & the other staff who showed up and made sure our event still happened!
The food was better than Applebees. Good happy hour drink prices. Great patio! We asked the server if we could smoke cigarettes on the patio, she said yes but then the manager put an end to our fun!!! He said we weren’t allowed.
Great Food! Very attentive service! Wonderful Atmosphere!! My wife and I both had hamburgers 🍔 they were delicious!! We both had onion rings, definitely recommended! It was raining the night we went, however the outdoor seating area looks very relaxing.
Excellent food! nice variety and prepared well… hot chocolate was not hot. And, our server barely greeted us and never smiled once, brought the food out well but did not ask if we wanted water, did not bring salt or pepper, and brought us french fries and not home fries which we ordered .My wife asked for ketchup, which she never brought. we were the only customers for most of the meal. We want to help the restaurant do well and a smile and attentiveness go a long way!
A co-worker had spoken at length about the food here. I was saddened to learn that they opened too late for me to get breakfast here. However, I feel like I was the winner upon trying the dinner options here. The food was all fresh and made to order, and while this took a little bit of time, it was well worth the wait as it was absolutely amazing! The generous portions were a welcome surprise as well!
We usually stop at the Local Fix when we make our annual Frio River visit. This year we swung by on the way home and were surprised to see a new location! The atmosphere is modern and inviting. The menu is full of options. Some of our highlights were the pancake flight, the southern fried benedict, and the everything brunch burger. The staff is super friendly and give off the good ole Texas hometown vibes. I definitely recommend a visit!
Stopped in for breakfast and the food blew my mind. This place looks like it belongs in a trendy part of Austin, but the food was way better than you’d expect. Didn’t skimp on decor, which usually signals the food suffers…not this time. Handmade biscuits, hand formed sausage locally sourced. I’m halfway surprised the bread wasn’t made in house. Fantastic little joint that is definitely worth the stop. Side note: the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, but not helicopter-mom style. 10/10 y’all.
Local Fix is a great new spot! Trendy decor, great outdoor space, and unique menu items. Been for lunch and dinner and haven't been disappointed Alfredo is excellent and even the side dish is a generous portion. Baked potatoes are delicious and will recommend omelets all day, every day. Drip coffee in the am, cocktails for pm. Friendliest staff around!
Dinner was really good, so I went back for breakfast. However, $25 for French Toast, sausage and coffee is ridiculous anywhere, much less Uvalde TX. The French toast wasn't even that good. The pork chop I had the night before however was very good and reasonably priced. I would recommend this place for dinner.
This restaurant is absolutely beautiful. I’ve even used it as a photoshoot location, and the lighting and background was perfect! The patio area is especially relaxing, with a live water fountain that adds a nice, calming touch. The menu offers a great selection, including some unique options you don’t often find in this area. The staff is friendly, though at times they seem a little disengaged and could be more attentive to their tables. A bit more frequent check-ins would really elevate the experience. That said, it is still a great place, and I’ll definitely be recommending!
We chanced upon this place on a recent weekend trip to Garner State Park. We drove into Uvalde for gas and supplies and were looking for a coffee shop. This is a super cute cafe with an upscale decor. The prices are definitely on the expensive side for the area and the service. We ordered the oat latte and churros (3 minis to a plate), they were good. Didn't have a chance to try their extended food menu, maybe another time.
I miss the old local fix. The fried green tomato blt, coffee shop vibe, giant cookies, soup of the day. Now it seems pricier than most breakfast places in San Antonio. 7 dollar coffee served at a bar. This place used to be my favorite place to stop in at, and I would recommend to everyone I know, now I’m not so sure.
Rolled up close to 2:30, had no wait. Sat outside because it was a nice day and the atmosphere was nice! The waitress was good, all but one thing, but we DID come in at 2:30 and they were probably trying to get ready for dinner. The music was too loud. Like straight up, I know that it’s right off of 90, but I’d rather listen to semi-distant traffic with a wall buffer than listen to Justin Beiber’s ‘Baby’ or a song repeat “Smack That”. Ultimately, not the worst. It actually sparked a new inside joke. When asking if dairy can be removed from a burger, we were told that “some things just can’t be adjusted” which is understandable for a busy restaurant. There was only one other patron at this moment. And, perhaps, just make cheese on burgers optional. Ultimately, our waitress did ask the chef and got cheese removed. When asking her to just hold the dairy from the fajitas, she got confused. I just don’t want them to waste dairy we won’t use. I didn’t get any sides with my fajitas. Just meat, rice, beans and tortilla. Theres also no lettuce for the fajitas according to the menu. I wouldn’t have gotten lettuce regardless. My favorite part of the fajitas were taking them home and fixing them up with eggs and rice the following morning. The shrimp tortilla soup had about 3 tiny pieces of shrimp, and didn’t come with tortilla strips. The shrimp is understandable, luck of the dip of the spoon. But we expected more from a restaurant that has the chef’s name on the door. My mom actually switched out to eat the burger because the shrimp tortilla soup was so disappointing Also everything tasted overwhelmingly like cumin. The fajita meat (which wasn’t like any other fajita meat I’ve seen, so don’t expect something similar to traditional fajita meat), the salsa tasted of mostly cumin, the shrimp tortilla soup tasted of mostly cumin. Really, the biggest seasoning of the restaurant is cumin. Couldn’t taste a whole lot more. Did eat the salsa because it was there, but it wasn’t good. On a minor note, we asked for charro beans and onion rings, but got refried beans and french fries. Comparable and no price difference, but not exact We still aren’t sure if The Local Fix carries Coke products or not. We asked and the waitress listed off some other soda brands, but then when we asked what drinks they had, she listed out Coke products as well as other sodas. We just went with tea, not wanting to get Pepsi or some other cola. We were not given a drink menu Also the menu posted on their website is not accurate. So to wrap things up with a nice bow, too much cumin, food was underwhelming, overhyped, and expensive. Wouldn’t recommend. Which is disappointing, because TLF used to be good years and years ago
Food was good a little cold but flavor was there would have been a good experience if the service wasn’t so awful never asked what we would like to drink only came to take our order once food arrived never saw our waitress again had to go looking for anyone just to get a refill and again for our ticket… DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! Definitely will not be coming back!
I wish I'd looked at the reviews before eating here. The place is beautiful and the service was good, but the food is unbelievably awful. I wish there was one thing that would make me want to give it a second chance, but all 6 dishes ordered were very disappointing. Not one of our party of 6 got a meal that was good. The place is so nicely done when you walk in, it's clean, the service is good, I can't understand how they got the food part so bad. The descriptions look great but the food is a big miss. I think they're going for something good, but it somehow just doesn't come together. And it's not that I just didn't like the flavors or seasonings, there wasn't anything I could appreciate about the taste, the quality or the presentation. No one in our group finished their meal, we all left our plates mostly full because the food was that bad. It's very disappointing and I don't know how they're in business. I thought maybe dinner just isn't their thing and we should come back for breakfast, but my friend told me she'd tried breakfast with a group of friends and it was not a good experience, but she decided to try again because she was told they got a new chef. From our experience tonight, nothing has changed. I had heard really good things about this place when they were in the old location, but something clearly changed because sadly, there was not one single good thing about the food we had tonight. Very disappointing.
Went here based off reviews and menu so figured we would try it as it's different than all the local places. Holy smokes, we were extremely disappointed. We were told to sit wherever we chose. Cool as there was both indoor and outdoor seating. Before we could even grab the drink menu, our waitress came up to us and asked us what we wanted to drink. I politely asked for a few minutes to look over the drink menu but asked for a water in the meantime. She huffed away and said she would be back. After 10 minutes of waiting for her to come back to take a drink order, we went up to the counter to ask where our waitress was. They said they didn't know and we were told to be patient. Cool, I can understand that if they were busy, but they weren't. Another 15 minutes went by and finally our waitress comes to get our drink order. She took it and based off the long wait we experienced for that we asked if we could put our food order in as well. She told us no and she would be back. We waited another 20 minutes to get our drinks (still haven't received the water i asked for yet) and she came back to our table with drinks we ordered. Asked if we were ready to order. We said yes and ordered our food. About 5 minutes later our waitress came back to the table and asked us to verify our order, which we did. The food came out about 30 minutes after ordering and mine was incorrect. I tried to stop the waitress and let her know but she was quick to turn around and walk away. After waiting another 15 minutes for her to return, I finally took my sandwich up to the bartender and told her it was not what I ordered. She then proceeded to asked me why I didn't tell my waitress that it was incorrect and I told her because she had not been back to check on us. I then received a very impolite "I'll fix it for you". Overall impression....don't waste your time here. Tomato bisque was disgusting. I could have spread it on a pizza and made it a marinara sauce. Sandwich was soggy. No one cared. Service was well beyond sub par. Overpriced for quality you get. I guess you pay extra for the attitude of your server. Will never dine here again.
We were super disappointed in this restaurant. The atmosphere was gorgeous but the food was extremely dissapointing. My husband ordered the steak medium rare and eggs, and when he cut it it not only looks raw but the meat looked spoiled. He requested for it to be sent back thinking he was getting a new cooked steak, and instead they put the same piece back on the grill and gave it back. My husband requested to get the biscuits and gravy instead. I also got pieces of french fries with my potatoes which makes me worry that they are not seperating their food properly when cooking it. Our waitress was very nice as it was not her fault, but that was super unacceptable. We unfortunately will not be returning. I never give bad reviews but this is something that should be addressed.
Terrible & expensive! $11.95 for a dish of mac & cheese. $7.25 for a macchiato that was nothing more than iced coffee! $13.95 for 2 street tacos. And the chili/burger combo was sad & tasteless, Their "Fix burger sauce" tasted like just dijon mustard.. Not at all what was described. The "burnt ends" in the chili were mostly fat and the "caramelized" onions on the burger were non-existent. AND they don't give a paper bill, they just tell you the check total! I had to ask to see their hand-held computer to verify the check was correct. Then, after using a credit card ... What they didn't tell you is they charge for using a card. We travel extensively, and will NEVER go back!
