The food was amazing. 4 of us went to visit this place with all 4 of us being from different countries, with spice tolerance varying from mild to hot. The chef and the team made sure all of us could enjoy the food and flavors. This is already our favorite spot for Indian food in DMV.
I was here for my birthday with a friend, and we had a great time. This is the only place in DC with South Indian food (beyond idli & dosa) as far as I know, and the food was excellent. We had the chettinad chicken and malabar fish curry with appams. They als have really interesting drinks! The service was exceptional and we would recommend this place to everyone.
I love this place. My husband and I used to live in the neighborhood and we loved coming here for Indian. We moved out of DC but still find ourselves back here. D was an amazing serving! Friendly and attentive. Great service!
Loved their bhelpuri, tried their idli sambar and dosa recently and enjoyed both. The service is prompt and friendly. The drinks and appetizers are very well priced!
We celebrated our anniversary at Sunday brunch. So many delicious choices. We tried most of them! Highly recommend.
Lunch was a delight! The paneer sag (4.5/5), dal makhni (4/5), garlic naan (5/5), and cucumber raita (5/5) were all delicious. Excellent food and great service made for a very satisfying meal—highly recommended
A dreamy delicious experience! The food, especially the samosa chat, but really all of the food, packed a huge punch flavor wise. I also found the service to be superb- the wait staff were all extremely pleasant and elegant. It felt like an upscale dining experience, food presentation and quality of service wise, all while being affordable! They also were able to accommodate my friend’s severe gluten allergy.
Had a wonderful experience- we organized a banquet for 65 guests, the food was perfectly prepared, the service was excellent and the warmth and atmosphere was amazing! Please enjoy a meal here!
My wife and I stopped by for dosa today. The food was amazing (and there was plenty of it)! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended a stop!
Amazing food and service! Highly recommend appetizers: Palak chat, dosa, gobi Manchurian, samosa chaat. Entrees: chicken tikka masala, aloo gobi, delicious naan. My absolute favorite Indian restaurant in the DC area!
I was not aware of this little southern Indian restaurant but am so pleased to find it. Will be coming back for the all you can eat brunch next time!
The food was amazing, especially the butter chicken not only the food but also the service was excellent too. I highly recommend this place.
Its been long since i went to such a good Indian restaurant! Amazing food, served with beautiful smiles. We were served with a complimentary dessert as it was my husband’s birthday, such sweet gesture. I highly recommend this place. Its family friendly and the taste of food reminds me of India. Paneer Tikka, Garlic naan and their green chutney are highly recommended. Will visit soon again.
Really loved the authentic kerala style dishes, highly recommend the kerala fish curry. The garlic naan and the okra curry along with the Malabar chicken were amazing too. Definitely a spot to hit for Indian food in DC. Plenty of seating so booking ahead of time might not be necessary.
Loved loved loved everything here! We were traveling from NY and happened to dine at this place. There was no wait and were seated immediately. We started off with lobster bisque soup, and some mocktails like pineapple and dakshin sunset. Soup was hot and satisfying and the mocktails were very refreshing. For appetizers we got chilli chicken and chicken cheese kebab. Both were delicious. Chicken cheese kebab was so tender and flavorful, wish they had served chutney with it. Chilli chicken was slightly sweet and tangy but tasty. For the mains we got chicken 65 biryani and chef special kerala fish curry. Both the dishes blew away our minds. Biryani was wholesome and delectable. Kerala fish curry was unique with spicy and tangy notes. Savored every bite of it. We also got another round of biryani as it was extremely appetizing. Service was quick and friendly.
I’ve been waiting for a good Kerala-style restaurant and this place is a hidden gem. I just called this morning and they said they’re doing the Onam Sadhya, and I really wanted to give it a try! The food was so authentic, and delicious ! I left home with a satisfying feeling in my tummy and a big smile on my face.
Absolutely delicious! Chicken madras, saag paneer, garlic naan and pratha were my favourites. Would come back
On a meeting, birthday or any type of encounter, this is a very nice space you should stop by to enjoy the delicacies of India in the heart of DC. The service is pro and fast, the manager keeps his eyes opened and come to you every second to attend to your next queries. You are treated as a King/Queen. And the food is just delicious!
Very nice restaurant. Great food and service. One of the best Kerala style fish curry.
It’s my first time dinning as I have always got butter chicken take-out. I tried something different this time and the food was great. I especially loved the lamb biriyani as it was still hot and flavorful. The garlic naan was also soft and delicious. The chicken seekh kabab was also lovely and filling. For dessert I had the orange shreekandh which was so interesting to see how they incorporated an actual orange with the yogurt. Definitely recommend as the food and service was amazing.
I love the food here! It’s a great spot for bottomless brunch on the patio as well as for dinner or happy hour at the intimate bar. The samosa chaat, chicken tikka makhani, and cookie butter dosa are my favorites. Everything on the menu is clearly crafted with care.
Ordered Goat Biriyani, Veg Mini Dosa and Chicken Chettinad, Onion Kulcha and Chicken 65 for starters. All were delicious and poignant with just the right amount of spice. Worthy of a Michelin Star. Highly recommend!
Beautiful, cozy restaurant with amazing service and delicious food! Best I’ve had in the area, will hopefully return soon!
South indian flavoured restaurant. Service is good. We ordered a dish with fish, panneer briyani . Both tasted excellent .
We had a company lunch and needed to cater for 20-25 people. A co-worker recommend Indique and they did not disappoint. They had excellent customer service. Food was delicious and on time. Another huge PLUS was that they were kind enough to accommodate to our schedule. We did not know at first that they were only open for dinner, so the fact that they decided to have this food ready for us by noon meant a great deal to us.
Shrimp curry was yummy 😋..impeccable service. Great place to enjoy your food. "Awlad" I saw you carrying other restaurant food and waiting for you to get Dakshin Food .You must deliver that first . I know they make all the dishes Ala minutes .Today they were fully packed upstairs and downstairs . We waited 25 mts to get a table and it was worth to wait.
Everything we ordered was absolutely stellar. We had chicken biryani, Malabar fish curry, and dal makhani to name a few. We were also in late on a Friday night and the staff was so lovely. Matthew was friendly and attentive and we will definitely continue to come back for the food, ambiance, and service.
Fantastic food and atmosphere! We got dosa, the fish special, and vegetable chettinad. Can’t recommend enough! - Response to owner, I can't figure out how to reply! (: We got the Mysore Masala Dosa and the chef special which was called the "Kerala Fish Curry" with king fish, chillies, malabar, tamarind, curry leaf, and Kerala style yucca. It was fantastic. Thank you! (:
We moved here a few months ago and have been to Dakshin numerous times. Each time we go we discover another delicious dish. This is a lovely family-run restaurant. I’ve never done takeout because dining here is such a enjoyable experience. If you want a cocktail, be sure not to miss their Garam Masala G & T.
We had heard good things about Dakshin Indique and were not disappointed this evening! The interior is high-ceilinged, light-filled and lovely. Gentle background music was playing so we could easily talk. The service was friendly, attentive and efficient. Delicious fresh food - we especially loved the dosa we shared! Highly recommend!
We loved the warm hospitality of Dashkin and the kindness with which we were served. More importantly, the food was beyond delicious. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered but we especially recommend the palak chat, the kerala fish curry, cauliflower pecorino kulcha.
Delicious Indian food! We ordered chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, and garlic naan — all amazing. Great ambience and excellent service. Highly recommend!
I did not have an opportunity to experience the ambience or the dining room service. However, from observation I came away with the distinct opinion that both were top notch. The food was delicious! I had to come back again. Dakshin is my new favorite!
Great place for dining. We went to this place all 3 days while visiting DC. Quality time of food is great and delicious too. We tried Kerala fish curry and Chicken Chettinad. Both were amazing. Masala dosa and idly are also delicious. Also tried masala chai. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for great ambience, service, and delicious South Indian food.
I discovered Dakshin Indique recently and ordered delivery today; the food was fresh and tasted amazing! I ordered the Aleppy fish curry -halibut, and asked the chef to make it pulusu style which he obliged. Wonderful customer service. Highly recommend it.
I've only had their food through DoorDash, so I can't comment on the in-restaurant experience. However, the food is phenomenal, so if it's at all aligned, the service and atmosphere must surely be wonderful, too! Their unique menu items, like the Chicken Chettinad and Chicken Curry Indique, are truly fantastic and wonderful for trying something you won't find elsewhere. I also think their Butter Chicken is the best I've ever had, so that is definitely worth a try, as well! I had a lovely email exchange with them where I let them know how wonderful I've found their food and suggested a menu item to add, and they actually added it! They are clearly passionate about the food they prepare and appreciate people enjoying their dishes. If you're looking for fantastic Indian food crafted by people who deeply love what they do, this is definitely the place to go.
One of the best authentic Indian restaurants in DC !!!! From ambience to quality & quantity and yes the price,.... simply the best !!!!!!!;;; about the food appetizing chicken 65 and after I ordered Malabar fish curry with kerala paratha ,smooth yummy butter chicken with cauliflower pecorino culcha after that something sweet 🧁no space for my stomach n friends too we are all full.... next time!!!!!😋😋😋 Shout out to the owner, chefs, manager and all staffs. Thank you for saving food that takes you my home .. satisfying, gratifying experience Everytime❤️Thank you Indique 🙏❤️
The atmosphere is calm and clean. The food is spectacular. No matter what you order you will love it. We had the lamb vindaloo and saag paneer with roti, cucumber raita and lime pickle. The Mumbai mule is the best I’ve ever had and it has curry leaves in it! The service was impeccable. Well worth the price. Oh and they don’t rush you which is unusual in America. We will make this one of our regular spots for Indian cuisine.
My favorite Indian in DC. Amazing food and customer service!! Staffs are so kind and attentive. Right by the metro station and always clean. We ordered potato dosa, butter chicken curry and halibut curry so far and they are AMAZING.
Been here a few times and the food never disappoints! The dosas are excellent and I love the palak chaat. Some other particular highlights are the goat biryani (bone-in and super succulent) and the Kerala fish curry. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming and the service is attentive without being overbearing.
New name, but the food and ambiance are as fantastic as ever. Some of the best dal tadka I've ever had, and the craft cocktail was superlative. The service was good, too, but I was absolutely spoiled in the past by the Indique staff and owner, so the bar is high; I look forward to coming back to give this team the opportunity to reach those heights. Great experience all around!
We had the unlimited brunch and we got to try a big range of different foods. That was very nice!! The food is very flavorful, we liked it. Service is very good, people friendly and welcoming.
Drove from NY to DC on an after Christmas road trip. The traffic was horrendous and we needed to grab some dinner before it was too late. There was 12 of us and we were looking for a restaurant that was open late and stumbled upon Dakshin Indique. We called ahead to see if they could accommodate all 12 of us, which they were able to and had the table ready for us upstairs. To our surprise, this was a Malayalee (Kerala) run restaurant which we weren't expecting at all! We ordered a lot of familiar foods and let me tell you, it was AMAZING!!!! Absolutely everything we ordered, chicken 65, kappa and fish curry, chicken biriyani, paalappam and chicken curry were SOOOO delicious!! I can honestly say this is THE next best thing after my mom's cooking! The flavor and homemade taste has not been matched to any Indian restaurant I've ever had in NY! Thank you Dakshin Indique for such a delicious meal.
Authentic Indian food in DC! We got the Chettinad Chicken, Malabar Curry with Shrimp, Chilli Chicken Dosa - all great! Amazing service too.
service was amazing! so attentive and kind. a little slow but there was limited staff and a lot of customers so understood. Food was reasonably priced and there were so many options. Definitely want to come back and try other menu items! they do not offer drinks if that’s something you are looking for in a dining experience.
Highly recommend this Indian restaurant if you are craving for Indian cuisine This is close to DuPont circle and easy two stop ride to Cleveland Park We had the chilli chicken for appetizer It was flavorful and spicy .Definitely recommend this dish as an appetizer In the main course we had Daal Makhani , Paneer Makhani and Methi chicken I would definitely recommend each of these dishes specially the Daal Makhani and the paneer dish The Methi chicken was not on the Menu but they made it for us Service and very good and there is a warmth welcoming guests in the restaurant Highly recommend
The appetizers were the star of the show. The flavors in the samosa were quite delicious, but do note it is an elevated take on a samosa by being deconstructed and not a traditional one in which the pastry is filled. The papri chaat was so delicious. Perfectly creamy and crunchy, so good! For the mains, the chicken biriyani was slightly spicy and overall tasty, but the butter chicken fell short of my expectations. It was partly my fault that I should have mentioned I wanted it spicy, but also the chicken was dry. I will note, the wait staff was extremely kind and attentive, but I am still on the search for the best indian food in DC.
The food was delicious and the service was great. The lamb biriyani was well seasoned, the lamb was tender, and the portion was generous. I will note that the bill was a bit higher than the expected total, but I unfortunately declined a receipt before realizing, so I was unable to check if there may have been a pre-included gratuity that we didn’t know about or a mistake on the bill. Overall it was still a great experience!
Beautiful Atmosphere, Exceptional Taste, But Be Ready to Spend Big This is a beautiful restaurant with genuinely excellent food and wonderful ambiance. The moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve stepped into a fancy, thoughtfully designed space. It absolutely nails the atmosphere for a special occasion or a quiet, romantic date night. The dishes we tried were superb. The flavors were sophisticated, and the presentation was top-notch, a real culinary treat. There is no faulting the skill of the kitchen or the quality of the ingredients. However, the experience is severely hampered by two major factors: the exorbitant price point and the extremely small quantity of food served. What you receive on your plate feels closer to an appetizer or tasting portion than a main course, but the bill certainly reflects a full, premium meal. The Verdict: Recommend if: You are looking for a high-end, slow-paced dining experience where ambiance and culinary precision are the priority, and cost/portion size is no object. This is a great spot for an impressive date. Do NOT Recommend if: You are hungry, looking for good value, or expecting a filling meal. You will leave disappointed (and broke). Come here for the experience and the flavor, but eat a snack beforehand!
My 3 friends and I went here for a quick dinner and we waited for 20 minutes for our server to get our drink order. And then we waited another 45 minutes before the server came over to ask if wanted to order, the entire time we contemplated walking out. Then it took another hour for us to get or meals (one of my friends only got an appetizer while the other 3 of us got one entree). I had hoped that they would make up for the wait with the quality of food. But the food was so bland and there was no saffron in the rice! Thank goodness we finally got out of there after they held us hostage for 2+ hours
