Mohansic Golf Course Yorktown Heights Reviews
Great layout, back nine plays harder then front nine
Awesome place! Enjoyed my game
My favorite County course. Great layout, good practice areas, driving range and after golf quasi outdoor cafe.
Great mix of fun par three's and challenging 4 pars. this course will make you rethink how good you are at putting.
Sevice good has restaurant thats open when golf course is closed food is awsome and not pricey they have live bands open mic nite dart team and the chef jim will go above and beyond to make your meal perfect i do recommend go there once try it youll be hooked
The course was in pristine condition today as well as the weather. I would recomend Mohansic as the current #1 eighteen among the 5 county courses
Beautiful course, challenging when you haven't played in 3years though
Nice place and very accommodating. Purchased a gift card for my BF.
Beautiful golf course for your next outing, friendly service and the food was great!
Challenging, good looking, variety of holes. Bar is small, but cozy.
Very good, nice challenge. Well maintained. Easy to get on. Great staff.
Great value if you are a Westchester County resident with a park pass.
Easy access. Beautiful place to practice. G
If not the BEST maintained County Course Let me know what beats it.
To me mohansic has always been the "gem" of the Westchester county golf courses. (Personally I also like MM and SW). The course layout is interesting and the course is always in good shape. My only gripe would be that some greens can be very difficult, almost unfairly so, with their severe slopes (Im refrencing 4,5,8,15). Bottom line is you gotta stay below the hole.
Great place, I've been playing once per week this season, as a beginner I highly recommend it, other courses feel easier after playing there. Friendly staff, great food. It is the BEST course in Westchester
Golf here most weeks sometimes twice. Senior friendly municipal in good shape generally. Friendly staff. Nice restaurant with evening events.
Great course. Well paced. Great pricing and shop!
Great public golf course. 18 holes. Have a 9 and dine in the evening. Part of Westchester County courses. So if you have a card you get a discount.
Enjoyable open Mikes, great food during it. And good musicians performing live. While you're eating your well made dinner
The course is in Beautiful condition. Please be kind to the greens and repair you ball marks properly. One of the best run courses in the county.
This is a great place to visit Friendly staff, plenty of free parking, great restaurant.
Great course, greens are crazy hard, staff is great and friendly! Would definitely play it again and recommend it to anyone lookin for a true challenge
Love this place. Staff is always so nice and accommodating, great food, course is in great shape, and they participate in youth on course. Hopefully some other courses will take a look here and follow their lead.
1st time here and new to golfing. Driving range was easy to find, super casual & easy to use. Didn't need to buy the e-card mentioned on the website, the ball machine took credit cards. Felt very comfortable there.
My band performs at the Mohansic Grill & Lounge. Nice place to play. I have golfed here also and I love the course. Challenging, but fair. Good course.
Mohansic staff and course are in top form. From friendly easy quick check-in to teeing off timely to well manicured fairways and challenging pin placements. Encouraging starter and helpful ranger.
I can only comment on the driving range as I haven't yet played the course. The driving range is typical of many, with reasonable pricing per bucket. ( S M, or L). The buzz I heard was that the course itself is very good. Enjoy
Great Westchester County course. Decent fairways and greens. Nice amenities: driving range, practice putting green, golf pro on staff. The 19th hole restaurant serves up cold drinks and excellent meals after a round of golf.
If the management realized how much more business they would do having the buffet every week this place would be a weekly stop. I have not gone 4 times myself with my girl $125- $150 night and well worth every penny. Not worth it to me when the band decides not to have the buffet??? Not sure why a band would manage or decide this but this was what I was told the band decided this?? IDK why they would but it is a bad decision in my opinion.
Excellent course! My second favorite county golf course aside from Maple Moore. Great layout, well maintained and they have a driving range also
A campy feel in a good way! Burger and fries were good. Drinks at bar also good. The owner goes around to the tables greeting groups. The setting is nice. The band Sugarush was tons of fun and people were tearing up the dance floor. Recognized people from other dance events. I would go back for other bands for sure!
The course is always in great shape. Challenging and interesting hope layout. My favorite is to pick up a twilight round and get a few holes in after work during the week. Can't beat that value.
Played there yesterday with some friends/clients. Good stuff. Lots of nice things to say from the course to the staff to venue. The bunkers were really consistent for a public course. The greens rolled nicely. Fairways and rough also consistent and in nice shape. Definitely will go back.
Try to play golf once a week and I love this course. It's close to home greens and fairways and tee boxes are in good shape. Staff is very helpful and the restaurant is very good. They have live music on the weekends and the barbecue buffet is decent
Great shape, good greens, well trained staff
Very nice course and challenging. Greens are always in good shape. Lots of blind shots.
Good track. Lots of blind shots. Course is in good condition.
Favorite local course. Friendly staff, well maintained, popular but not too crowded.
Solid, top 3 Westchester muni course.
Challenging golf course with great holes. The golf course is especially pretty and serene during the Fall.
A very decent public course, senior rate is only $31.
First time playing golf here and the course was in great shape.
Super friendly staff and a really good golf course
A challenging public course, well maintained and reasonably priced.
Course was a five, staff a two. Requested directions to carts - individual in the Pro Shop pointed in a general direction and states over there. Starter was a huge pain, especially after the poor instructions from the Pro Shop. Group was present at the Starter on time and he berated us for not being early, then told us we would have to wait as the group behind us was ready. They weren't and neither was the group behind them. He begrudgingly let us Start, but yelled at us to be quick about it.
The best of the Westchester munis. Really interesting layout. Bunch of doglegs demand your being able to work the ball. Some greens tough to get to in reg. so it keeps you coming back. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is well, it ain't Pebble is it?
Beautiful course but it is long and hilly. You'll want to ride unless you're an Olympic climber. The regulars refer to one of the holes as "heart attack hill."
Played it on Black Friday this year. Course was in good shape but took 3 hours to play 9 holes.
Best Westchester county public course. Pace of play can sometimes be slow, but course is in great shape. With a park pass it is also pretty cheap.
Course in good shape. Every hole is different. A little hilly but I enjoyed the course.
The course is in very good condition. The staff is very friendly. There is a driving range as well as a chipping area and a large putting green located behind the clubhouse. The course is challenging for all levels of play.
I did not get to play golf there. But it looks like a very nice golf course.
A tough county course in great condition..
The course gets 4 stars because it is a challenging golf course with unique holes. Not a boring play at all. A truly wonderful layout. Some holes challenge with length, others require precision. The fairways and greens are typically in excellent shape. Greens have been phenomenal the past few seasons. 3 greens on the course can be frustrating. 5, 8, and 15. They aren't fair because they have too much slope and are the reason this course isn't 5-stars. Bunkers have traditionally been a problem here due to drainage problems but they spent a ton of $ recently improving the drainage and replaced the sand with crushed shell. Much improved. Practice facilities are very nice. Driving range, chipping/sand green, and a large putting green. Resturaunt/bar is nice with decent food and good prices. Live music at the resturaunt can be annoying during the day.
Very nice course. Nice golf carts. Course gets very congested. It took a little over 5 hrs to play 18 holes here due to how many people they give tee times too. Well kept though.
My home track, what can I say. When all the holes are in play, it's a nice layout and usually in great shape, nice bar and sneaky good food. Be great if they improved the practice facilities.
One of the best Westchester county public courses. The course is well maintained despite being packed throughtout the day. They are soggy spots in a few holes ( 8th 9th & 10th ) which needs to be taken care of.
Stacked a little too tight. Sending people out 10 minutes apart is not good. My foursome plays fast and we waited, a lot. Course was in great shape thou.
Nice and enjoyable. The course is challenging with narrow and rolling hill fairways.
Nice public course, great staff, nice restaurant. Course condition was good as well. Would certainly play here again. Fairways are wide enough and elevation changes are not too intimidating. Fair share of blind shots.
The course is in the Best conditions now, fairways are in top shape, the rough is playable but you will pay getting out of the The bonkers are at there best now. The staff are very helpful and are on point. Overall it's a great course to play and have outings and the food is great.
Great public course. Discounts for Westchester County residents with a, "County Parks Pass". Rolling hills with many wide fairways for beginners but also challenges for advanced players. Accommodating staff. Small restaurant with some plain but relaxed outdoor seating. Gets busy on weekends. Greens are typically well maintained. Pro shop is also small but adequate.
Great course. Lady who works the front desk could use a new job. Otherwise, pace of play was reasonable, design is nice for a public course, and conditions were solid.
Another wonderful Westchester County Course. Played a 9 hole round late today and found the course to be in very nice shape considering the extremely hot we have had. The greens and fairways where in beautiful shape, a few wet spots on the tees making it a little difficult at times and of course still some dry spots on the fringes. Overall the course was nice to play and challenging enough for most players at any level. Enjoyed a some music and food afterwards in the lounge/bar. Plenty of parking, a decent range and right off the Taconic Parkway make this an easy place to play. *I base my golf course reviews on cost, service, convenance and overall condition of the course and facilities.
It’s a fine course, “Meh”ansic is more like it. Don’t get me wrong, the course conditions were flawless and the staff is extremely friendly, welcoming and kind but the layout itself is a bit long with a dog leg here and a dog leg there but it lacks anything interesting or visually stimulating other than the par 3 over water. The round was a slog and it just felt long and hard but not in any of the ways that would make it fun. I definitely preferred Patriot Hills or Maple Moor.
Great good. Friendly staff. Food is what you would expect from a public golf course , but the staff makes your time there wonderful. You won’t be disappointed. Easier play than most courses. Don’t expect a 4 hour round,,,, EVER. Staff is still super Freindly. Good luck getting a tee time. Call at 9:00 and get a 12:50 tee time. How 3-4 hours of tee times get booked in 1 minute is still a mystery to many!!
It takes 5 hours and 30 minutes to play 18 holes.
Only worth it if you can get a good deal thru GolfNow.... Greens are always a challenge
Fine course. Not the nicest on the phone. Tells me to call back in 10 minutes because the computers are down and then is rude when I call back.
Mohansic your slip is showing. Yes this past winter was very difficult. The course is in deplorable shape. A cash cow for the county, where is the thinking. The greens are in AWFUL shape, every hole has bare, rock strewn patches of neglect and there is no effort to improve, beautify or preserve this wonderful asset. I’ve played here for over 30 years. Now a poster hangs on what was once the pro shop proclaiming a new capital improvement. Are they addressing the erosion eyesore on the first tee (it’s opposite the meaningless shed placed there a year ago)? What’s the purpose of this oddity? I’ve yet to see a starter go near it. No the new spending is for a cart barn. Who does this serve? How does this help county golfing residents? It’s silly. Fix the golf course. Improve the golf course conditions. Greens are terrible. Neglect everywhere. Funny though, I never heard any one complaining about the cart barn!
Course is ok. Reasonably priced. Lot of blind tee shots. The range is abysmal. The balls are horrible. Several balls in your $15 ‘large’ bucket will have no dimples, or feel like there isn’t a core. The mats are also extremely worn and uneven. Almost unusable.
It's in decent shape. Greens are well kept and quick. Main problem is it gets backed up every single weekend. If you're playing on a Saturday or Sunday expect to play a 6+ hour round. Our tee time was supposed to be at 1 and we waited on the first tee box until almost 2.
To be honest it was absolutely ridiculous 2pm the time turned into 2:30 with the absolute slowest golfers in front of us with 5 groups ahead just as slow paid for 18 golfed 12 didn't expect to get all 18 in but 15 or 16 would have been nice . Ok course but speed of play is out of hand , usually they have a ranger driving around monitoring this to help speed up play !
The service was terrible. When I arrived I had to stand at the counter in the pro shop and stare at the "Old Pros' shooting the breeze for over 5 MINUTES before being acknowledged (if you dont want or like your job on a course dont waste the golfers time, do us all a favor and quit). The greens fees for a course with crappy tee boxes muddy uneven divot infested fairways with a lack luster indoor operations crew are astronomically high and unreasonable. The starters have no idea what they are doing...they put a twosome of ladies in front for a foursome of single digit handicappers and the ladies wouldnt let us play through and there was not a ranger in sight, nor would the pro shop send one out when phoned. Rocks and debris in the sandtraps make saving par almost impossible, not to mention inconsistencies in the speed of the greens. I know about 50 people who after receiving this review ( which will be forwarded to all golf course review forums as well as golfnow) will redirect their golfing budgets to other courses where the staff actually gives a crap about the customer. This is a service business not a retail quickstop and should be treated as such ESPECIALLY with such high "public-course" green fees. Sincerely, an unsatisfied aggravated avid golfer.
30 minute delay to start from our scheduled tee time because of lack of carts with 3 groups waiting to tee off behind us the course is celebrating its 100th anniversary but doesn’t know how many carts it needs…. Also lack of urgency from the starter to keep things moving pretty disgraceful if you ask me….
3:09 tee time Snack bar at the turn closed. Cart girl was at the 3rd tee and that was the last you saw of one how can you not be out there on a 80 plus degree day? And we were starving with the snack bar not open at the turn? In the middle of summer nice course but everything else was sad.
Prepare for a 5 + hour round of golf!!! No rangers enforcing pace of play.
Hard to judge. Chef walked out before we got there. He Might have been right. Waitresses were overwhelmed. Bar food, Stick with the fried foods. Also, the music on the enclosed porch was provided by the very talented Drew Bordeaux, but the sound was awful, the space was freezing.
Beautiful course unfortunately is always inconsistent specially with he staff. If you are playing in time of frost, play at Saxson, Maple or Spring lake. They have it put together.
Their music venue is a restaurant. no place to sit or dance. Very disappointed after driving 45 mins for this band. Very outdated, 1960s vibe.
Golf wise, this course is really nice. Other than that, I'll never go back. The workers and some players act as if this is above a public, county course. From the starters, to the players playing behind me an overall horrible experience. Me and a friend were paired with an older couple who played a bit slow, and the man playing behind us complained and verbally abused us at times for taking too long, almost encouraging a physical altercation. I have never seen something like this on a golf course before. It was a Saturday on a public course I don't know what he expected. Some of the people that come here should join a country club instead of this isn't up to their perfect level of satisfaction.
Worst experience ever. Had a 3:57 tee time and the starter snuck a foursome out in front after playing second hole. She (Diane) had them start on the 3rd hole!!!! Didn't even ask. Slowed down the pace of play and backed up the whole golf course. Will not recommend golf course. Very poorly run and unprofessional.
Went to trivia tonight, have been going since it was at murphys. I had dinner with my friends beforehand and was going for trivia because we all enjoy it. The girl waitress came over and was very rude and said we have to buy food or a drink in a nasty way. I'm not looking to drink I'm trying to stay sober. I just wanted a water and apparently that's not ok there. Smh. That's sad and rediculous. Get new rules and better wait staff.
The slowest, most consistently backed up golf course on planet earth. How can one give a grade when one cannot actually play golf? I quit on hole 3 after waiting 5 mins between every shot. Everyone on the course was complaining and NOT enjoying themselves. An absolute disgrace.
This course simply overbooks by having tee times to close together. While playing today I was waiting behind 4 groups for ONE hole, it’s simply unacceptable and led to a miserable time out on the course l. Would NOT recommend for anybody.
Wonderful course but they do not honor your tee times.. had to wait another 30 minutes because they just let others and locals go ahead. Please honor the tee times when people arrive on time, as it makes no sense to have reservations when they don’t follow the tee times
I was given a gift card to play here so i decided to use it today. My experience here today was HORRIBLE!!!! The workers are NASTY!!! The starter today was extremely rude and pursued and argument with me in front of 7 people in regards to protecting the assistant manager who was holding up the play in front of us. I found it to be unprofessional and disturbing in which it ruined my whole round!!!! The sprinklers were going off all day and hit my friend in the face on the green while putting. I DO NOT recommend this course to anyone!!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!! There are plenty of other courses in the area that have NICE and PLEASANT people there to make your round of golf enjoyable!
