It’s been such a long time since I last dined in at Peppercorn Station, and it did not disappoint. The mala spicy crawfish is an absolute must-order, so flavorful and seriously addictive. I also tried the tofu pudding beef for the first time today, and it was such a pleasant surprise. Super tasty and perfect with rice. Definitely recommend!
Great Sichuan restaurant in New Jersey!Quite authentic with good amount of choices. Can adjust spicy level. Environment is great for gathering and date but needs reservations for weekends.
Very nice place. The foods and services are excellent. Highly recommend it!
This is my favorite place to eat in Jersey City, I would prefer calling it my second home. The food is undoubtedly amazing, but what makes this place memorable for me every time is its amazing staff. They always go a mile ahead to make the guests comfortable and happy. Just one request, please bring back the Taro chicken 😁
I’ve been to Peppercorn Station multiple times, and it’s one of those places I keep coming back to for a proper, comforting meal. The dish I never skip is their green peppercorn fish. It comes out as a whole, generously sized fish, and the meat is incredibly tender. The broth is savory and fragrant without being overpowering, and it’s the kind of dish that naturally makes you eat more rice than you planned. As someone who grew up near the coast and is picky about fish, this one really delivers. The roasted duck in chili broth was another highlight, the portion was much larger than expected, with plenty of duck and vegetables. It’s not just visually impressive; it’s genuinely filling. I was also pleasantly surprised by the brown sugar rice cakes. I don’t usually like desserts that are too sweet, but these were chewy, balanced, and easy to finish. Other dishes like the pork trotter soup were comforting and well-cooked, and the staff even helped separate the meat, which made eating much easier. Portions here are consistently large, and we almost always end up taking leftovers home. Located near Grove St station, it’s very convenient, and the atmosphere feels welcoming for all ages, couples, families, and friends alike. A solid spot for a satisfying, no-stress meal.
A super solid Sichuan spot in Jersey City! The ambience has a lovely a blend of traditional touches and modern style, complete with live singers in the back that make the space feel warm and lively. The food was nuanced and well-seasoned without leaning too spicy or oily. Highlights included the enoki and peppercorn beef, the spicy whole fish, and the tofu stir-fry, all balanced and deeply flavorful. A refined take on Sichuan cuisine and a genuinely enjoyable meal.
Flavorful food, excellent customer service My husband and I went here for dinner on Thanksgiving. Around 6:30 pm it was quite busy. The wait for a table took about 10 min. We were seated at the very front where there was quite the draft when someone opened the door. They would probably benefit from a winter vestibule. Although the place was full and they received a lot of pick-up orders, the service was still attentive and fairly prompt. We ordered the Truffle Fried Rice, String Beans, and Mapo Tofu, all to be made vegetarian. The food took about 20-30 min to arrive. All of the dishes were flavorful, delicious, and pretty big portions for reasonable prices. But towards the end, I tasted meat and double-checked with the waiter, and it turned out he didn’t realize that we wanted Truffle Fried Rice to be vegetarian as well. Both he and the restaurant manager apologized multiple times. The manager comped our meal and also offered a gift card for the misunderstanding. Will definitely come back for the flavorful food and excellent customer service.
I recently visited Peppercorn Station in Jersey City after hearing great things from friends, and the restaurant genuinely surprised me. I highly recommend the Beef Tripe and Duck Blood Tofu (毛血旺). The portion was generous for the price, and all the ingredients were very fresh. I also enjoyed the Clear Noodles (川北凉粉) as an appetizer and the Bingfen(冰粉) for dessert. Both tasted authentically Sichuan. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the live music was definitely a bonus. I really recommend this place!
always love coming here for hearty food! Crab mapo tofu is definitely something you can’t miss, and the pork belly with cucumber, peanut sauce chill noodles, and braised beef with potatoes are definitely classics as well. Really love the authentic taste, but also wide variety of non/less spicy dishes for the hot days :) staff are always super helpful and nice as well!
Food was fantastic, some of the best Sichuan food we’ve ever had. We got the cucumber salad, mapo tofu and sautéed string beans (our 3 staples at any Sichuan spot) and we tried the truffle fried rice. Cucumber salad dressing was so tangy and yummy and had delicious chunks of garlic swimming in it. Flavor on the mapo tofu was incredible, the heat level was spicy and perfect. Sautéed strings beans were excellent and so savory with the crumbles of pork in it, just slightly salty. Finally the truffle fried rice was really good too and the freshness of the egg in the fried rice really stood out to me. Service was also great. Vibe was so chill, and the space is beautiful. Can’t wait to come back and try more things. Thanks for a wonderful meal!
Never been to the downtown main restaurant but this one in NJ is already amazing. Ordered the grass fish which is super tender and crispy you can hear the clear voice when chewing it!Would like to try more things on the menu. The service is also quite good, cozy environment. Definitely recommend.
I had such a blast here with friends. The food comes out very fast, and it’s a byob spot. (There’s a great wine shop next door) I LOVED the truffle fried rice and the pork belly with chili oil. I would love to return and try some spicier options plus dessert. The dining room isn’t large, so expect for them to book fast regularly.
First time here... The food was good, spicy and flavorful. We were seated once entered. The restaurant was almost full. We went with a milder version and the beef with potatoes were pretty good. The spicy stir fried intestine was a bit over fried, so they're quite dry. The service was great. We will visit again if we are in the area.
TLDR; Super flavorful food, although some items might be a hit or miss.. Wait: We had to wait for a table for about 20 minutes on a weekday evening. Food: Between the four of us, we ordered the wood ear salad, truffle cauliflower, fried rice with black truffle, ma po tofu, noodles in chili oil and the beef tripe. Of these the ones I would recommend are the ma po tofu, truffle cauliflower, wood ear salad and noodle in chili oil - they were really flavorful with a perfect balance of sichuan. On the other hand, the fried rice felt very bland while the beef tripe has SO MUCH sichuan that it was absolutely inedible for us (I don’t know who out there could possibly handle that much - we pulled out 4-5 BUNCHES of sichuan). In the end, the tripe went large untouched and pretty much ruined my friend’s appetite, lol. I would really stay away from this item specifically. Service was pleasant and fairly quick. The oranges in the end are such a nice touch and so refreshing.
If you’re looking for spicy, flavorful food, this is the place. Service is great and the food was amazing. The truffle cauliflower is a must get. It was the perfect crunch and the fresh aroma of truffles. Love it so much. The pepper beef is also amazing, so tender and rich. The mapo tofu is so spicy but so addicting. You’ll need a lot of rice to pair with it. Will definitely be back!
I came here with friends for a casual dinner. This is a big plus: it’s a BYOB spot, and you can’t beat the convenience—there’s a liquor store right across the street! That makes planning a spontaneous dinner really easy. As expected with its Jersey City location, we did have to park a bit of a distance away, so factor in a little extra walking time. The food itself was decent and satisfying for our group. It's not a must-try for culinary excellence, but it's a perfectly good, reliable place for a fun night out with friends where you want to enjoy your own drinks.
I got mapo tofu, truffle cauliflower, kunpao chicken. Mapo tofu was a huge portion, with full of spices, and kungpao chicken was so soft and juicy with a hint of sour taste. Everything was nice especially cauliflower was perfectly cooked so it was amazingly crunchy. However I don’t think I’ll come here to get cauliflower at 18 as an appetizer. Generally the portion was too much and bit pricey.
I'm absolutely flabbergasted by the quality of food here, especially after seeing the long line and the good reviews online. This is NOT authentic chinese food. Do me a favor and just cross the tunnel to Chinatown. If you are JC local, just go to Jiangnan, taste of north china, chengdu 1, anything is better than this.
