I've got a bit of bias because my son works here but I must say I love this place. Not only is the food delicious but they treat their employees fantastically. They pay above minimum wage, give bonuses, and I couldn't have asked for a better first job for my son. If you haven't tried the Red pepper Cashew spread, please do. My favorite thing is a scrambagel on a jalapeno bagel with cream cheese, capers, and tomato. Enjoy!
We've been Bagelry customers for what must be close to 40 years? Good quality, friendly service, affordable prices. The day-olds are a real bargain (but you have to grab them early)
I know this is a local chain, but Soquel location was the best. I was so excited to see a full section of vegan sandwiches. Thank you.
Local fresh bagels & coffee & drinks. The spreads are light years above cream cheese! Tuna salad, lox, all kinds of in house baked bagels. Whole wheat raisin, blueberry, onion. I suggest their hummus topped with green onions, or the tofu blended with dried tomatoes.
Alas, I live in CO now, so it has been almost 10 years. I visited this place weekly from 1979 to 1992. Then, whenever I drove over the hill from Los Gatos for 20 more years. So glad it's still there! I like to take cedit for the half egg salad and half hummus menu item, my regular order, though I am sure plenty of people have ordered it before me as well. I came in after closing once and the guy just said, "Oh hi, what can I get you?" So different from the famously bad Santa Cruz service.
Perfect bagel spot with something for everyone. Great options for vegans!! Red pepper cashew spread is there daily and is great "stacked" with guac on a tomato basil bagel 😉
This place has single-handedly fixed my poor sleep schedule. I now wake up without an alarm around opening so I can enjoy a peaceful experience with little to no wait time almost every day. Everything they make is phenomenal. I literally don’t eat anywhere else for breakfast.
The bagels a delicious, friendly servers. My only negative is I got a jalapeño bagel and only got one teeny tiny sliver of jalapeño in the whole bagel
I just wasted half an hour waiting for an order that never came out, after the cashier tried to offer tomatoes when I asked for smoked albacore. The loud music they were enjoying may have been the problem. Used to enjoy the food here but will not be back .
Went here with the hubby today for breakfast. They have awesome bagels done the right traditional way and have lots of awesome options. The food here is high quality and very affordable. 10/10 would recommend to bagel lovers.
Star of the show are their unique cream cheese spreads. Very good bagels too. Can get busy after 930am. Parking can be a struggle, but the food is worth it.
The food offerings are all very good and freshly prepared. There is no table service you order at the counter. The atmosphere is basic, almost like a cafeteria. Highly recommended.
My all time favorite bagel sandwiches. Their vegan menu is amazing. I love love love the New Delhi bagel sandwich with curried tofu!
Our family really likes the Bagelry -- good prices, excellent bagels, and a slightly kooky Santa Cruz vibe. The bagel with hummus is marvelous! If they only carried chocolate chip bagels I would be totally happy.
Classic no-frills bagel joint. Reasonable prices, friendly people. Food comes out fast, even in the morning when there's a line. A solid local spot!
I've eaten a lot of bagels in my 35 years of life and it's not just that I'm born in Santa Cruz that Im a fan of the bagelry, It's because they really do have the best bagels I've ever had. I know that it really comes to personal preference when it comes to things like this. I promise if you haven't tried the bagelry give it a try
Great Prices and Delicious Bagels
very nice bagel place with hard working and very friendly employees.I come here very often and get their pink flamingo which is salmon mixed in with cream cheese on a toasted everything bagel with red onions. The place is kept clean. There is street parking and they have a small parking lot. I recomend
I love The Bagelry! Good bagels and GREAT spreads! Personal favorites are Fandango, Pink Flamingo, and guacamole, but there is a wide variety available and I've never had one I didn't like. Give them a shot if you're in the Santa Cruz area!
Delicious fresh bagels! The scrambagels are delicious for breakfast! Also enjoyed raspberry cream cheese! Small parking lot. This place is small, so it can get busy and crowded. Staff is very polite and friendly!
Staff here is actually so nice! The bagels are always delish and they have tons of options. love the garlic bagels the most though!

Best bagels in town. I order 6-12 at a time and freeze them for later use. They make excellent sandwiches as well. We love the house-baked turkey and the egg salad (which is slathered on each side of the bun, so you get 2 in 1!
Big portion sizes and good prices, fast service
Our new favorite of the three local Bagelry locations. My man that runs the joint is THE BEST! I'll catch his name and update the post. We used to hit Cedar St and Seabright Ave all of the time. Never knew this somehow even better jewel existed! Check it out!
Good bagels. Great toppings. Good decaf! Bathroom needs help!! I'm editing my review because though I still like the bagels it's dismaying to see that The Bagelry never puts a penny back into it's business. It's so shabby inside the Soquel store. Nothing has been updated or refreshed since the 70's! Even a coat of paint on all the woodwork couldn't cost much. They don't seem to care about it's shabbiness.
Great little place to stop in on a weekend. They do a great scrambled egg sandwich. I appreciate the local artwork feature/rotation. Staff is always pleasant. I once tipped $5 on a bagel sandwich and the reaction of the guy who took my order still makes me smile.
If you love bagels this is the place to go...there are 3 in the county, their very consistent with their menu, you can go to any of them and the quality and taste is the same at each location. The Bagels are a great size, they allow you to split a specialty spread, my favorite is half pink flamingo w/green onions and half moxie on a poppy seed bagel....of course toasted.
First time there as I am from out of town. Placed an order then asked for extra bagels to take home. Realized there was some confusion as I received a bag of pre packaged gluten free bagels. I called the next day and they were so kind. They explained what probably happened and then issued me a credit for a half dozen fresh bagels next time I came in. The young man on the phone was so nice and patient with me and happy to help. I will definitely return!!
The best bagels anywhere in the bay area. Top notch menu and service. They have been around a long time and during the pandemic they really pulled thru for the customers and the community. 🫶🥯🥯🥯🥯

The Bagelry's style of bagels are quite dense-ask for it toasted twice and they become squishy toasty (not burnt). The coffee is what coffee snobs tend to call bad, but I enjoy it black. This location is less chaotic than the downtown SC one, but also far less seating is available. I've had no negative experiences with the staff.
Great bagels, try the royal palm spread for a not too sweet treat
Good food. A little tricky to park. I thought it was odd that the cashier asked me if 'I wanted to put a tip on my card" when they had only just taken my order. I thought tips are based on doing something that exemplifies an extra effort.
Legit fresh bagels! Spreads are little different then the normal spreads you would expect but are pretty quality...I got Honey butter on raisin bagel, and Fandango on everything....Fandango is red onion, green chili, cilantro, garlic, jalapeño, salsa cream cheese....
I always get "The Duke" it has cream cheese apricot jam and toasted cashews. Its yummy. They have a good selection on their menu. The egg salad is pretty good as well. Parking can be challenging.
Love the vibe and the bagels and cream cheese .
Probably one of the better bagels around here, just not a bagel that blew me away. But it is a very cute place and the staff is very friendly even when they are slammed.
Great chai, lovely art
Lox bagel was great. Tried to get a scrambagel with guacamole and bacon, but ended up with no guacamole - it was still good, but the guac was sorely missed and it was sort of a bummer - still love this place - but was just a little hurt by that.
Wolfe it down so no pictures of food...fresh bagel...what more needs to be said??

The staff made my partner feel extremely awkward... We didn't ask for anything too crazy, but they treated us as if we were asking them to cut off their extremities or something. 3 stars because the bagels were that good... Terrible service though
Interesting that others comment on the grumpy staff; I've experienced the same. It must not be a coincidence. Also, yes, the coffee is not good. anyway, if you need a bagel it's good enough. Get a bagel there and walk down the street to the Ugly Mug for your coffee.
Casual place. Friendly service. The bagel I had with cream cheese was just okay. Bagels are on the small side compared to other places I am use to. Coffee was good. Parking is limited here but there is another lot across the street.
The Bagelry has been a family tradition for years. We always grab bagels on our way to the beach and enjoy them while we listen to the waves in the beautiful cool mornings. While the bagels are always delicious, the new bagel size is simply ridiculous. Please consider a price increase and not selling mini bagels. I wish I could share a picture that shows the old bagel size next to the new one. Shrinkflation is sadly real - even in our favorite local shops. And the chai is also a must!

The food is good but the service is horrible! As soon as i ordered the lady ask me if I wanted to add the Tip, really?? Then she hand me a cup to fill up my own tea. When I open the order at my office it was totally wrong. They need to work on customer service!!
Not impressed by this location. The bagel was cold. The moxie was prepared incorrectly with too much cream cheese and whole olives (should be chopped). The interior of the store looks like they haven't recovered from they pandemic. Everything needs a refresh and employees need menu prep training.
Unbelievably overrated by Santa Cruz locals who have never known or tried another bagel. These are the size of a dinner roll, and just meh (if I’m being honest). No wonder they’ve never expanded beyond SC.
This is the worst Bagels ever. The service is extremely slow and the 2 times I've been there they gave my order to someone else. I ask for double toasted TWICE and it was not toasted. They are more concerned with talking to eachother than filling a simple order. Buyer beware.
Only 6 types of bagels available, which is pretty odd for a place that only sells bagels. I just got one of their basic flavors. Smallest bagels I have ever seen but I still had hope they might taste good. Sadly, my bagel was flavorless. The others in my group tried the bagels with egg and cheese, and were also disappointed by the taste of the plain bagels. Since this is the only bagel place around, I doubt this place will improve in any way since it has no competition. If you're looking for quick breakfast, I would look elsewhere.
Extremely rude staff with poor hygiene. No one had hair up or gloves and smelled foul and never once washed hands in between certain unsanitary tasks while preparing food. The food was extremely cold and stale, The restrooms are discriminated against the high school students next door considering an employee told me about it when I asked to use the restroom, as a mother of 4 that was unsettling to hear and it made me uncomfortable considering the statement was completely out of context. I have visited every location of the bagelry company and this by far was the most unprofessional expirience I had. Will not go back, I will stick to the other locations when I want a bagel from their company.
