Opiniones de 95 South Brooklyn
Leigha and the whole staff were professional, friendly, and attentive. They knew the regulars and had a joke with each one, but they took care of everyone as if they were regulars. Definitely plan on returning.
95 south is definitely a spot for vibes AND good food. My husband and I each had a half rack of ribs and it was a huge portion. The food was all very great quality and the bbq was actually finger lickin’ good as we say in the south. I’ve tried all the hipster bbq spots (Morgan’s, Pig Beach, Dinosaur, etc.) none of them were as good as this, like not even comparable. The music was a little too loud for a Monday night and service was kinda slow but it is somewhere we would come back to for sure.
Well for starters when I first there back in 2010 it’s wasn’t all that so 15 years later since I moved back to NYC went to 95 south with my cousin from VA n yesss it’s was wayyyy better than ever n da food was sooo damn gud omgggggg what? Dem damn collard greens was sooo damn gud dem yams be bussing n don’t let me get started on dat catfish cuz oooh yess.Theres not dat many soul food restaurants in BK but yes 95 south will always n forever be dat soul Food joint.
This place has appealing aesthetics. This place knocked my socks off! I plan to revisit frequently. Every dish showed freshness, good seasoning, and proper cooking techniques. This place warrants your consideration.
Reasonably priced with a staff that cares in a location that's just right. Their warm approach creates comfort immediately. Their cooking demonstrates culinary skill. This location enhances the experience. This place satisfied me completely.
Very nice place to have a late lunch or a early dinner The staff was remarkably friendly and helpful The drinks amazing I live in Staten Island and would definitely make the trip back for a meal
These folks have built something that stands the test of time. Their staff displayed both kindness and sincere interest. The restaurant proves its reliability. Spot-on in every aspect. I'd return to this place when in the area.
sammie ( samantha) was my bartender shes super nice and super cute. she was attentive without beimg overbearing. i would come back just for her.
We were there on Tuesday, July 29th for my man 64th birthday party! We had an absolute blast!! The place was beautiful inside! The service, the food and the drinks were excellent!! The DJ was the absolute best!! A friendly atmosphere! My man had the time of his life!! This is definitely a “Happy Place”! Thanks to all staff in this fine establishment!
Went there for dinner on a Saturday evening and had a great time. The restaurant was full but not too crowded. The music was 90s hip-hop/r&b that I found myself really enjoying. The best part was the food. The food is amazing!!! I got salmon with candied yams and collard greens. Absolutely amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back and I 100% recommend it to anyone that loves soul food.
Wow, this place was great. It was recommended to us, and it lived up to the expectations. The server was cool. She made small talk with us. The drinks were strong. Thank you to the bartender. You must try the Ohhhh Weeeee. Had two, and I am feeling it. No, i was not driving. The food was fresh cooked to order. So expect a little wait. You will not be disappointed. I recommend the salmon burger. It was moist. Cook to perfection.
Food there is really good soul food. Music is oldies but goodies. (Im 31) and they play the good stuff lol. But the atmosphere is a vibe the crowd is a bit older but there has never been any drama there.
Leah was EVERYTHING—our waitress, bartender, and host all in one! She took our order without even writing it down and nailed it. Drinks? On point. Service? No delays. The atmosphere was pure vibes—grown folks only. We had to head out for the Travis Malloy show, but the DJ was just getting started and it was about to be a whole *vibe*. **All the food was good**—from start to finish. And don’t sleep on the cornbread… cinnamon and butter topping? *Yyyyyyyeeeeeesssss!* The bill for four was more than fair, and the energy at the bar was live—people were laughing, dancing, and just having a good time. Big love to Brooklyn for the invite. We’ll definitely be back. Cause guess what? *We outside!*
Got my food to go during the West Indian parade and it was the best soul food I had experience so far in NYC, Laurence the chef wasn’t joking about his catfish, the green been also tasted amazing and the Mac and cheese it was definitely different from the average, I’ll be definitely looking forward to have a proper dinner at his venue
Went here with some friends for brunch and was a bit disappointed. For starters upon arrival the restaurant looks closed for the outside , luckily one of the staff members were outside and invited me in. Upon entering, the restaurant is very spacious and clean.( I can easily see this as the perfect venue to throw an event) . I ended up getting there way ahead of my two friends and the bartender took pity on me and offered me a mimosa on the house, which tasted amazing. Once my friends arrived, we ordered a plethora of food ranging from chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, fish and grits along with a picture of mimosas. my friend seem to enjoy their food. However, I thought the food was a bit underwhelming (I had the chicken and waffles). please know this is personal preference and also know that I’ve brunched quite a bit, and this was very underwhelming to me simply on taste. My friends seem to have enjoyed their food and didn’t make any complaints. The service was great and not too long after my friends arrived, so did the DJ. Pros: Very nice vibey atmosphere, especially once the music is going. The staff are very nice and accommodating as they needed to be a few changes made to one of my friends order because she is vegetarian. Although I did not like my food, the portion sizes were really good, especially for the price and they have vegetarian options. CONS: when they have brunch, that is the only thing available to order which sucks because the brunch menu is very limited in comparison to their dinner menu. I do think I’ll return as I do think they’re done the menu is much more appealing to me. It seems like the night scene is where it’s at up in there lololol. So for now until next time as I’ll definitely be back..
If I could give this place negative stars for the food, I absolutely would. My friend and I went after attending First Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum, and it was our first and last time. I ordered the fried chicken dinner with candied yams and mac and cheese as my sides to go, which took over half an hour to arrive, because the kitchen was "running behind." When I got it, the food was absolutely horrid, cold, and stale. The fried chicken was bland and had been cooked in the same oil as seafood, which, if I had an anaphylactic allergy to seafood, I would be dead or hospitalized in the ICU. A huge NO-NO!!! The candied yams were canned and, as such, had a bizarre taste and texture. And, the macaroni and cheese was overly seasoned with garlic powder. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, was fresh or prepared that day. If you decide to eat there and you have an anaphylactic allergy to seafood, make sure you carry your EpiPen. A memorably disastrous first experience, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. SMH!
My first time going to 95 south, definitely was turned off by the security, older Gentleman charging cover charge to some people at the front door then not charging others in my same party a cover charge. Then we had 2 people arrive 5 minutes earlier and same situation with them. I was just so turned off by the whole thing I Would not return. But my short time in there the crowd was live and the music was good but Security 0. I wish I got a picture of the guy but the whole situation annoyed me I didn't even remember to get one.
