Great service from a hard working staff. The bill was extremely reasonable. Environment is welcoming as is the staff. It is one of the few black owned businesses in the area so I feel, in my own opinion, it is historical and important. There is culture there.

Not really a family oriented atmosphere, but then again we went on Saturday night. The bartender/ waitress greeted is at the door and was friendly- even while multi-tasking. The yams were on point! AND the 95 South Rum Punch had me slurring my words (it tasted like punch but did a sneak attack later) very satisfied!! Will patronize again.

I usually go late anywhere between. 9 and 11pm. I love the music. Very throwback, cookout/50th birthday music vibes. The crowd is mixed but more mature. The food is great. I have no photos because I'm usually always eating or dancing plus it's dark in there. It's always a packed house and a lot of people come for the food alone and leave, most people come for the vibes and the drinks. I like 95 south

This where's my second time visiting this establishment. What I can say is the drinks are very nice and reasonably price and well-made. The food they have this sample a dish absolutely delicious. And as far as the staff goes the bartenders are very polite and this security staff makes me feel very very safe and I didn't feel violated when I was search either I even asked her to do it again LOL. Overall nice atmosphere very good music I really do enjoy myself.

When I say the atmosphere is amazing it is amazing. It needs no hype. The drinks are everything. But what you can bank on as well not only the food is out of this world, but the customer service as well. Please go visit, stop by, and take a moment to appreciate this black owned GEM!!!! I definitely will be coming back. I live in TX but born and raised in BROOKLYN. SN: You all need to try the Garlic Pasta, I never would have thought to mix sweet with savory. Again amazing job my village.

Drinks are on point! The food is delicious! The bouncers about the business! And there’s a woman that works there that has the most bubbliest personality. I think she’s from down south. I had such a good time with her! This place is like home. Atlanta Stone Mountain, Georgia home! I had such a good time at this restaurant! Almost forgot about the DJ!! But how could I he was about the business as well!!

Ordered fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and cabbage and well worth it, though they didn't have my Krystal hot sauce. Chef came out himself. I don't drink liquor so I had a lot of pineapple juice. My waitress was extremely professional and not flirtatious like some other places I've been to. Grown vibe, chill with no issues. I'm no longer living in Crown Heights, unfortunately; but I'll definitely be back. Phenomenal find, rare gem. The Puerto Rican girl in black that day.

95 south is definitely a spot for vibes AND good food. My husband and I each had a half rack of ribs and it was a huge portion. The food was all very great quality and the bbq was actually finger lickin’ good as we say in the south. I’ve tried all the hipster bbq spots (Morgan’s, Pig Beach, Dinosaur, etc.) none of them were as good as this, like not even comparable. The music was a little too loud for a Monday night and service was kinda slow but it is somewhere we would come back to for sure.

Went there for dinner on a Saturday evening and had a great time. The restaurant was full but not too crowded. The music was 90s hip-hop/r&b that I found myself really enjoying. The best part was the food. The food is amazing!!! I got salmon with candied yams and collard greens. Absolutely amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back and I 100% recommend it to anyone that loves soul food.

Wow, this place was great. It was recommended to us, and it lived up to the expectations. The server was cool. She made small talk with us. The drinks were strong. Thank you to the bartender. You must try the Ohhhh Weeeee. Had two, and I am feeling it. No, i was not driving. The food was fresh cooked to order. So expect a little wait. You will not be disappointed. I recommend the salmon burger. It was moist. Cook to perfection.

Food there is really good soul food. Music is oldies but goodies. (Im 31) and they play the good stuff lol. But the atmosphere is a vibe the crowd is a bit older but there has never been any drama there.

Leah was EVERYTHING—our waitress, bartender, and host all in one! She took our order without even writing it down and nailed it. Drinks? On point. Service? No delays. The atmosphere was pure vibes—grown folks only. We had to head out for the Travis Malloy show, but the DJ was just getting started and it was about to be a whole *vibe*. **All the food was good**—from start to finish. And don’t sleep on the cornbread… cinnamon and butter topping? *Yyyyyyyeeeeeesssss!* The bill for four was more than fair, and the energy at the bar was live—people were laughing, dancing, and just having a good time. Big love to Brooklyn for the invite. We’ll definitely be back. Cause guess what? *We outside!*

Our bartender Jasmine on Thursday was AMAZING!! She was attentive and very personable. Her energy was so good and all who entered felt it. She smiled when speaking to everyone. The Korean wings were good. The Mac and cheese wasn't to my liking but I enjoyed the experience there. I also liked that the time we went it wasn't crowded or too loud. I've driven past and it's crazy.... No longer my thing. My cuzin and I had a LONG hard day and Jaz helped. Appreciate you Jaz!

Normally I love this place, the barmaids are great and the food is wonderful... HOWEVER, they cannot publicize an "old school music" night on Wednesday and and have an absolutely AWFUL DJ who has no concept of old school music!!@. 🙄 I asked that he play Frankie Beverly, a legend in anyone's book, and he said he didn't know who that was. ARE YOU KIDDING ME.??? HOW DOES THIS MAN HAVE A JOB. The restaurant is great... just don't go when he's there. He has no clue what old school music is. Try another night for the food, but not when he's working. He's so bad they won't even tell me his name!!!. 🙄 So what does that tell you? Go on Tuesday when DJ Bruce is on the ones and twos!😜

It's a nice spot to hang at. The vibes were good. It was crowded because pepole were celebrating birthday's and what not. The security by the bathroom is a little strict but, I guess he's just doing his job. I heard the drinks are iight, all I wanted to do is dance in the little space I had for the night.

Not my type of club crowd on a Sat with $10 cover. Scheming messy men fighting, dirty floors & no one cleans well. Great GREAT food, sub par drinks, small venue for parties. Overall good DJ and a place to go when you really want to throw on sneakers and party old school. Eh. For good alone, it's a dope soul good spot.

Great place, food is great and the servers are friendly and attentive. My only complaint is the music played by the DJs is much too loud. Sitting next my guest I had to continually lean in close just to hear. Also it was difficult for the servers to hear the orders being placed over the music. Music should be at talk level where we can actually hear and not shout.

Went here with some friends for brunch and was a bit disappointed. For starters upon arrival the restaurant looks closed for the outside , luckily one of the staff members were outside and invited me in. Upon entering, the restaurant is very spacious and clean.( I can easily see this as the perfect venue to throw an event) . I ended up getting there way ahead of my two friends and the bartender took pity on me and offered me a mimosa on the house, which tasted amazing. Once my friends arrived, we ordered a plethora of food ranging from chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, fish and grits along with a picture of mimosas. my friend seem to enjoy their food. However, I thought the food was a bit underwhelming (I had the chicken and waffles). please know this is personal preference and also know that I’ve brunched quite a bit, and this was very underwhelming to me simply on taste. My friends seem to have enjoyed their food and didn’t make any complaints. The service was great and not too long after my friends arrived, so did the DJ. Pros: Very nice vibey atmosphere, especially once the music is going. The staff are very nice and accommodating as they needed to be a few changes made to one of my friends order because she is vegetarian. Although I did not like my food, the portion sizes were really good, especially for the price and they have vegetarian options. CONS: when they have brunch, that is the only thing available to order which sucks because the brunch menu is very limited in comparison to their dinner menu. I do think I’ll return as I do think they’re done the menu is much more appealing to me. It seems like the night scene is where it’s at up in there lololol. So for now until next time as I’ll definitely be back..

The food was fresh and delicious Jennifer our bar tender was awesome and tentative however we had reservations and the manager Nicky who didn't honor our reservations because it was done online was a nasty and rude. She was talking about other parton's negatively and using profanity. She said the online reservation was a hoax to get people into the restaurant and everyone was stupid for not reading the fine print. Nicky and Wes the owner need to get management training. Nicky should be demoted and Jennifer promoted. I would gladly manage there marketing if they are able to pay for my services.

Would have given a 5 but since the bouncer and bartender were rude and your business police customers waiting for bathrooms, I wasn’t pleased at all by their behavior. However the bartender Sonya was excellent and her hospitality was even better. The other bartender who is tall as Sonya was rude and came to my table to snatch the menu without even asking us if we were done ordering, I had to inform her I was in the process of deciding what I wanted to order. When she returned with my friends food I tried to ask her if I could order and she pretended not to hear me. Sonya was present as well so I asked her and she informed me that I had to order at the bar, not a problem. My friends also informed me that the same y’all bartender was rude to her and appeared to take orders over her as if she was serving the customers she knew. The food was excellent, I give your business a 10 for the food alone, but y’all should retrain staff on sensitivity and communication.

Hello all let me first say that they do not take call ahead orders which was fine. When I get there the young lady greets me she was very pleasant she took my order I presented the Groupon and she told me 15 minutes which is really 30 minutes. Okay I was just really happy to receive my food the baked macaroni is a big No-No I tasted more macaroni than cheese it wasn't even baked the appetizers shrimp had seasoning of only cornmeal , the barbecue chicken was chicken that was grilled and they just threw barbecue sauce on it it wasn't taste. Wow collard greens no type of flavor I'm going to assume that they make some awesome great drinks because when I went in there the day before it was crowded. A great place to party it has a nice atmosphere if you need a after-work grown and sexy classy crowd but I do not recommend any of their food Yet the staff that I dealt with the two young ladies were very professional and beautiful black queens

The crowd was good! The food taste ok.The drinks were all really good! I went to this place on a couple of Friday nights and enjoyed it. Not sure about the other days of the week. I wish the staff were a bit more attentive. I rate it a 3.5 stars.

G
Giocanda Phillips

I ordered the "Jumbo Shrimp" appetizer, the 6 shrimps I received was neither jumbo or even medium. When I asked the server if that was the jumbo shrimp " yeah, thats the jumbo shrimp" and walked away. The shrimps were small and overcooked. While the seasoning was good, it was fried kind of dry. I was disappointed. It's a cool vibe there so I will give them one more try.

Many items were missing on the menu for a Tuesday night The BBQ ribs were cooked well. My friend had the burger after they ran out of dark meat chicken and could only satisfy one order. She said the burger was good but nothing special, tasted like a regular burger. Waitresses are friendly and accommodating. My food was accidentally thrown out, and the chef presented me with a new "fresh" order to go home with; the gratin of Mac & cheese wasn't as moist as the scoop I had w my original meal but it was ok. No special drink menu 420 friendly space in the back

B
Brianna Brown

I had went on a Friday evening. I had gone with my partner. I feel the restaurant caters to an older crowd. Our server was not attentive to us and at one point was on her phone across the room while we waited for a drink. I saw another server after just handling food scratch her scalp with her nails and did not see her wash them immediately after. The music was loud and at a point overbearing. However, the food was enjoyable. Specifically the cabbage. The Mac and cheese is subpar, I have had better. The salmon had nice grill marks. Overall, I would not return because the service was not good and wait times for food were too much.

I bought the groupon deal. Got there about minutes to 7. No seats. They had about 4 reserve seats and an open area where you can obviously see they could have had some more tables and chairs..long story short this place is lacking service and seating. 2 much to explain but wasnt feeling it. Only the music was kool enough for me at that point. Had to leave....

We visited 95 South, Saturday May 22, 2021. Upon entry our bags were searched for weapons. They attempted to seat us at a table that had bar stools, even though there were multiple tables with proper restaurant chairs available. We were grudgingly accommodated when we requested different seating. Next we ordered cocktails which were served in small plastic cups. A server informed us at 6:40 pm that the venue was shutting down for a private party at 7:30pm. Our server appeared inexperienced and couldn’t answer routine questions about menu items. When our order came, the food was served in cramped cafeteria plates. Despite all of the above, the food was tasty.

We were at 95 South 3/21/23 to celebrate a couple's 2nd wedding anniversary. The music, chicken wings and drinks were good HOWEVER the SERVICE for ordering food from the menu was sloppy and unprofessional. It took the server forever to take my order and bring the food after waiting over an hour. I asked her how long will I receive my food and she said 5 minutes. Five minutes turned into 35 minutes. She paid more attention to the take out orders, serving the drinks and the regular patrons. By the time she FINALLY brought the food I ordered to the table, I canceled it. You need to hire more professional servers who know how to show common courtesy to ALL patrons. If there is a delay, the server needs to inform the patrons without a funky unprofessional attitude.

The service was horrible. The menu barley had anything so when I told the waiter I was ready to order she said I gotta wait because she have other people. Then the guy that helped us he seem like he didn't even wanna be there. Giving us so much attitude and just the expression on his face told us he don't care( me and my mom) the food took about 15 mins then we left and ate on the way home. The food wasn't even all that. I waited for this trash! Sorry but I wouldn't recommend the food. If you wanna here music though they have nice loud music.

I brought a vip package. I went to Jennifer, who was unapproachable and told her. We was ready to order everything. We waited over 2 hours for chicken wings. I talk to the manager about Jennifer attitude. Instead of getting sorry, She give us an attitude. The manager threw the napkins at us. We only got 15 wings. Seems like it should of been more. The food was great. The worst customer service I have ever had from the bottom to the top. During our event, rolling of the eyes and pointing at our table , mean body language, rude gestures from Jennifer. No one had Restaurant colors or logo . Took a long time to order dinner and a long time for it to finally come out. When we was looking to order found the Manager outside arguing with a short lady who said that she’s 60 years old They were both using vulgar cuss words. The food and the music was excellent.

We came all away from Queens new york, The seating arrangements is good- The menu For sunday was terrible.. We came for Real soul Food, Not grits.. Or waffles... Then you had individual standing in front of the place, It did not look too cool-- Then you had cats wandering -off the street that looked like they were Getting ready to rob somebody or beg for money Inside the restaurant --This establishment is Black owned... My wife and I came looking for something other than what we received..

95 South had horrible drinks, bad ambiance, and poor customer service. We went for drinks and when we entered, were not greeted by the only person working there who appeared to be the bartender. She looked at us as if we had walked into her home unannounced. We went to the bar and said we'd like to have a drink. Before we could even finish the sentence she stated we could not take alcoholic beverages to go; however, we were not asking to take them to go. Thereafter, she said "Okay, do you know what you want?" I responded, "No, can we please see a menu?" If I'm asking for a menu at a restaurant, and not immediately being offered one, something is already wrong. We ordered a margarita and sangria and both were watered down and had cheap liquor. I really wanted to support a Black-owned business...but it is not enough to just be a Black-owned business. Customers should not have to lower their standards in the process of this support. I would not recommend anyone patronize this establishment.

I ordered a gin and tonic with Bombay gin... Not sure what they put in it exactly, but it was the most unbalanced and hard to drink Bombay tonic I've ever had in my life. This is not a place that takes its cocktails seriously if they messed up a drink made of two ingredients. My companion brought me here because he found the food to be a big deal. It was okay, nothing to write home about. Typical Mac and cheese, greens and fried chicken. Standard southern fare. I was given a very small portion I mean it wasn't even served on a dinner plate! I got the chicken with two sides and for some reason it came on a salad plate. I don't understand why an entree on the menu would be listed as "comes with two sides" ... Just for the entire meal to be served on a salad plate. A pack of wild horses couldn't drag me back to this place.

I feel like first impressions are everything. I was walking down and decided to stop here since the reviews seem good but the bouncer was rude at first, telling me I am not old enough to be here but last time I check my ID verifies my age. And secondly the hostess was rude so I had to walk out. When customers come In you should great them and let them know what going on. Another customer from a table had to offer us a chair when he was the table only had two chairs instead of 3 since it was 3 of us that night . Maybe because it’s an OLDER crowd like 45 and older I walked in and walked right out no need to spend my money on people who are not appreciative. This sucks because I REALLY DID want to try the food. I wish I can give this place a zero.

Several times ago, I tried calling their establishment, but no one picks up their phone. On December 28, 2022, I go there at 4 pm because their opening hour says 4 pm, but they didn't open till 5:15 pm. I waited outside with my cousin only to be told when they finally opened that all their tables were reserved. I will never go there again. If I want Soul Food, I will go to Amy Ruth in Harlem. Moreover, they claim wheelchair accessibity; however, I had difficulty getting my wheelchair through the door. The restroom does have an handicap rail, yet there is no clear path to the restroom because a wood block attached to the wall blocks access to the restroom. 95 South was clearly a waste of my time and carfare.

I was hoping for better, but this place is garbage. Too bad i can't give zero stars. A chicken wing dinner with 2 very small sides dinner, $27.54. The salmon dinner was worst. (This was take-out) on top of that , the food was nasty. A good thing i wasn't eating in. The music is so loud, you can't hear yourself talk. If you like being ghetto fabulous, then this is the place for you. The restaurant's surrounding area has a healthy mixture of people of different ethnic groups, but less than 1% of non blacks frequent this place. Don't expect to receive change for your order unless you ask for it. ooh yeah, I'm black.

I had 2 VIP events at 95 South and I had issues on both occasions. The first event I booked through a promoter I didn't get the right amount of seats or my tables reserved. My group enjoyed the food and music so I planned a second VIP event. This time I booked with the Manager of 95 South and still had issues. I don't understand why the manager was my host and server, my guest felt her picture should be placed on a milk carton and I felt I was cheated on the bill. It's a shame. We believed we had a nice plan to hang out, in the neighborhood.

If I could give this place negative stars for the food, I absolutely would. My friend and I went after attending First Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum, and it was our first and last time. I ordered the fried chicken dinner with candied yams and mac and cheese as my sides to go, which took over half an hour to arrive, because the kitchen was "running behind." When I got it, the food was absolutely horrid, cold, and stale. The fried chicken was bland and had been cooked in the same oil as seafood, which, if I had an anaphylactic allergy to seafood, I would be dead or hospitalized in the ICU. A huge NO-NO!!! The candied yams were canned and, as such, had a bizarre taste and texture. And, the macaroni and cheese was overly seasoned with garlic powder. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, was fresh or prepared that day. If you decide to eat there and you have an anaphylactic allergy to seafood, make sure you carry your EpiPen. A memorably disastrous first experience, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. SMH!

My first time going to 95 south, definitely was turned off by the security, older Gentleman charging cover charge to some people at the front door then not charging others in my same party a cover charge. Then we had 2 people arrive 5 minutes earlier and same situation with them. I was just so turned off by the whole thing I Would not return. But my short time in there the crowd was live and the music was good but Security 0. I wish I got a picture of the guy but the whole situation annoyed me I didn't even remember to get one.
