Super chill vibe with a really relaxing atmosphere. The food was fresh and delicious, definitely worth it. Perfect place to hang out or unwind, and the owner is super nice and friendly.
I love this coffee shop in the day and wine bar with live music in the evenings! Strong cortados and flat whites and delicious house wines with a varied wine and food menu. Fun and thoughtful events with friendly and fun staff. My favorite neighborhood place on Cortelyou! Thank you Bad Therapy!
Walked in to this gem while taking a stroll with my boyfriend. Very low key and romantic bar. It was perfect and the music , drinks, service were all 10/10. Will definitely become my new neighborhood go to.
Bad Therapy blends two unlikely worlds in New York and nails it. It’s like a cozy neighborhood bar—perfect for unwinding with wine or coffee—but with live music, art, and great food that keeps things exciting. The menu’s always fresh, the music changes nightly, and the vibe is creative and inviting. The garden is a hidden gem, lush and pink, turning into an outdoor movie spot in summer, with carefully selected films year-round. It’s a true neighborhood treasure!
Bad Therapy is the first and only place I've ever been a "regular" at - I go there almost daily for the iced coffee (perfect) and atmosphere (also perfect!). It's rare to find a coffee shop that is well suited for both quiet reading AND conversation with friends - the interior is cozy and comfortable; the backyard is a really beautiful and calm oasis. Highly recommend.
Bro They Created Like The Best Matcha I’ve Ever Had In My Life 😭 If yall come here. PISTACHIO Matcha Iced w Oat Milk. That shit is crazy. Life changing, It was so good I had to walk in and ask the manager the recipe for this. But I recommend anybody to try this if you trying to get into matcha
Bad therapy, can we acknowledge how bad turns into good and intensifies your mood into greater understanding. Whatever the occasion let Bad Therapy be your persuasion.
I’m totally hooked on Bad Therapy—it’s my fave spot for just about anything! Mornings, I’m there savoring their awesome coffee or matcha, and come the weekend, their brunch is a must—especially that shakshuka, it’s unreal. Their movie nights? I’m all in—sipping on seasonal cocktails and munching charcuterie while catching a flick. Hands down, it’s the best hangout in the neighborhood.
It is so hard to get truly excellent decaf coffee. But when the manager, Baka, is making it, it's perfect every time. Never too watery, or too bitter. I am always so happy on the days when he's there. And for folks who need outdoor dining/drinking options, they have a large, pleasant backward. Not a lot of shade from the sun or rain, but on nice days it's a very solid option if you need a Covid-safe place to chill. Wednesdays they have half price deals, and many nights they have some kind of event (art, music, comedy, etc.).
Bad Therapy is a good habit. I’m at the point that I’m here 4x/week and have NO REGRETS. Cold brew in the back yard? Yes. Jazz nights with wine? Yes. Movies, tastings, an evolving, thoughtful menu (see caprese sammitch)? Yup. The crowd is chill and the vibes are strong. Bad Therapy is clearly committed to contributing to the Cortelyou community. Alliteration and caffeination. Let’s go.
I love this place. Great vibe with super cool and friendly staff. Kudos to Emily and Anya. What I love the most is the cultural schedule with pretty cool live music, b-side old movies projected in their backyard and much more.
Always feel welcomed and the vibe is so cozy, best coffee in the neighbourhood 💖
Cute coffee shop with friendly service and great coffee. I came here on Sunday morning and it was packed but luckily another couple got up to leave and it I didn’t have to wait too long to be seated. Would love to go back and enjoy coffee while I work. I had a almond croissant and hubby had a whole wheat croissant- both were delicious and fresh.

This is my favorite coffee shop! The coffee is always perfect, the atmosphere is so welcoming, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Not to mention, their cinnamon scones are AMAZING! It's definitely my go-to spot for a caffeine fix and a little bit of joy. Highly recommend!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My favorite spot in the neighborhood I live on cortelyou and Bad Therapy Cafe is hands-down my favorite spot — morning or evening. Today i tried their shakshuka and it’s very flavorful. the hibiscus tea is great too. In the evenings, the place turns into a cozy bar. Shoutout to Baha — he is warm and makes you feel at home.
What a vibe! Popped in here during the one nice weather day we had this year. Matcha was decent, but this croissant….so flakey and good…I’ll be back for you my love. I didn’t have enough time to sit and enjoy, but the interior was spacious, and the staff super friendly. Will have to return soon to explore more of the menu.
Always feel welcomed and the vibe is so cozy, best coffee in the neighbourhood 💖
Sweet little spot. They have coffees, teas, pastries, food (sandwiches, egg dishes, shakshuka, etc), plus wine and beer. It's very quiet and chill. Sometimes they are understaffed, but employees are very kind. Indoor and outdoor seating - backyard is lovely. My tuna salad sandwich was delicious, and the wine pour was heavy!
This the chillest spot. Amazingly friendly staff, some tables available for laptop work, good wifi and a restroom. The smoothie special was also so refreshing.

I love this neighborhood spot. I come here to grade student work on the weekends. The staff is great and there's a really good selection of pastries. You really come here for the atmosphere. Always good music playing and friendly faces all around both during the day and at night for drinks.
We’re here right now having a great time. Had the risotto, summer salad and muamarra. Everything delicious, washed down with draft beers and listening to a fabulous jazz trio. Can’t recommend this place enough. Check their instagram for music schedule.
this place is great! not only is the vibe very chill and comfy, but the service and coffee are great. barista sydney was very friendly and personable & made me the best latte i’ve had in a while! i’ve tried a couple other nearby coffee shops and they just don’t compare on atmosphere or coffee quality. i’ll definitely be back soon to try some food when the kitchen is open and to attend a community event.

This place could be so great if the playlist weren’t consistently TERRIBLE and LOUD. Otherwise it truly lives up to the neighborhood as a cafe where community can chill, day or night. To elaborate, they play music really loud in the morning and it’s always the same played out 60’s-to-90’s top 40 stuff. It’s just a lot to take at 7am. Look around at the morning regulars who need to leave the house to escape kids (the neighborhood is full of toddlers so I assume many of the regulars are parents) and you’ll see everyone has headphones on. I asked the barista if it would be possible to lower the volume and he said no. Guess I’ll have to go somewhere else to escape my toddler…
This cute little neighborhood spot has a cozy charming interior, decent coffee, and puts on fun local events. The tragedy is the terrible playlist, which features some of the most obnoxious music of the 80's, 90's, and 2000's and repeats daily. Nothing like getting over caffeinated while Cindy Lauper plays back to back with the Offspring.
This was our third attempt to visit. The first time, the place was shut down due to bad weather. I understand it had flooded, which is completely understandable. The second time, however, we had a truly lovely experience. Everyone was friendly, the bartender was welcoming, and the drinks were excellent. Unfortunately, our visit today was extremely off-putting. It was freezing outside, and when we approached the counter, we weren’t even greeted with a hello. The first thing the staff member said was that they were closing in 20 minutes, which made us feel as though we were being pushed out the moment we stepped inside. We live in the neighborhood and have been here for six years, so this was especially disappointing. There seems to be a pattern of inconsistency, and as a neighborhood spot, we should be able to rely on the business being open and, at the very least, being greeted by friendly staff. At this point, my wife and I don’t feel inclined to return. Sadly, you’ve lost us as customers.
