Opiniones de Clayton's Coronado
This is the cutest vintage diner around! The service is quick and very friendly, and the food is delicious!
Sundae was big & delicious as was strawberry shake with whipped cream & cherry on top. Music was great also. Service was outstanding.
This fun dining spot feels like the crossroads of Coronado. Enjoyed breakfast two days in a row. Very friendly, efficient service and good food. Great for outdoor dining.
Holy Moses! My hubby and I are staying the Navy Inn here on Coronado, and went off base for a slice or two of pizza. Instead of pies, we found Clayton’s and couldn’t be more delighted 😊 Coffee, an original but perfectly cooked burger, chilaquiles, and the yummiest sugar cookie for a wee desert. My chilaquiles were too good… I at more than my stomach appreciated—and regret nothing! Hubby said the burger was great, and fries were perfect ❤️ The service was lovely and the atmosphere was perfect. We’re only staying four nights, but plan on returning in a day or so 💕 I do be recommending!
I was on a trip visiting from Florida and decided to stop in for a quick bite to eat. I ordered chili fries and loved the chili sauce. The milkshake was outstanding. Not only was the presentation great, but it was definitely the best chocolate milkshake I’ve had in a long time, and they ended up giving me extra. Made my day! The server was super nice!
Easily the best diner on Coronado Island. There has been a coffee shop/diner here since 1938 so it has served countless locals and tourists over the decades which I think is really great. We were a party of four and had to wait about 20 minutes for an outside table on the Sunday after XMAS, otherwise there are a handful of booths and a very large U-shaped counter on the inside. Our server was very friendly and everything that we ordered came out very fast, almost shockingly fast. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot so the best option will be street parking. Inside of the restaurant is really well done, it has a 1950s retro diner look to it so it’s a really great place to spend some time, especially if you are a fan of the oldies or are a boomer who can reminisce like my parents. I started off my breakfast with a Cinnamon Roll and thought it was fantastic. It was really light but very flavorful at the same time. I especially loved the glaze and I would highly recommend. For my meal I ordered the Country Benedict and really liked it. I wish they would have crumbled the bacon, but that’s just a personal preference. Overall, it was a great meal and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Coronado.
Cool Old Cafe ,first opened in 1938 . Has that Genuine Feel to it . The Gentleman sitting next to us said it was the Absolutely Best Milkshake they Ever Tasted. Breakfast served all day. We had the Fried 🐔 chicken sandwich with fries. Very Good , The sandwich consisted of Wonderful toasted brioche buns , nicely spiced crispy fried chicken , great tasting coleslaw, pickles, mayo, mustard, Side of nice crinkle cut fries. They also have waffle fries and onion rings. The Cubano Panini was also very tasty. All the Food I saw plated looked Delicious ! Great Friendly Service and Good Prices , This Historic Cafe is a Winner for Sure ! Have to include 🥬, 🍅, 🧅 was also in the Fried chicken breast sandwich.
Mid morning Thanksgiving brunch that had great atmosphere and delicious food. Took roughly 15-20 min wait to get in. Most likely because 95% of businesses are closed for thanksgiving to be fair. The place has a 1950s atmosphere with red cushiony seats and record players etc. I thoroughly enjoyed the açaí bowl and we also enjoyed the turkey special, which you can get all year round anyway. If we are in the area again we will likely return!
We had awesome service by Dern! He was polite, friendly and outgoing. (Killer now tie too!) He made our experience so fun! I even witnessed his care for his customers as I watched him ensure an elderly man did not fall walking to the bathroom. Also, he seemed to interact positively with his teammates too. Thanks Dern! The facility and restrooms were clean. It was like stepping back in time. There are a lot of nostalgic things to take in. My husband and I split a classic hamburger, crinkle fries and a strawberry malt. All of it was delicious. My husband said, “if we lived here, I’d be a regular.”
I came here years ago and still remember the 50’s diner feel. I was delighted come back and experience it again. Hasn’t changed a bit. So glad to see a small diner like this survive in such a beautiful place. Perfect place for a burger or breakfast. Everything on the menu is looks amazing. Shakes are killer!
Love this place!!! Vibe is 60/70's diner. My husband and I was Visiting the area and decided to patron a small business. So glad we did! Everything is made from scratch! Awesome food, made to order. Staff was very welcoming, warm, and great customer service. We had the Philly Steak and Cheese w/ a huge Honey Bun to go. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely return!
This place is a gem. We stumbled upon it on our last day of vacation as we were visiting Coronado island and on a 1.5 hr waitlist for what looked like a delicious but pretentious restaurant that was nearby. After finding out that a wait for a table at Clayton’s was only 10 minutes, we decided to eat there instead. We sat at the counter and our server Jaxy was great. My husband and I ordered her suggestion of the carnitas and chorizo hash with a cinnamon glazed pancake. My daughter had a hot dog and fries. Everything was delicious and the retro vibe of the place is super cute and colorful. The music was fun too; a combo of 80’s and 90’s alternative/new wave. Super happy we stopped in here instead because by the time we left, the other restaurant texted to say our table was ready. Thanks for the awesome time, Clayton’s - you made our day.
This is a must see and eat location on the beautiful Coronado Island. This is our second time making it to this dinner and the atmosphere along with the service are just a great experience that brings you back to a bright 1940's. The variety of food including American and Mexican food provides a good mix for breakfast and lunch combination that will keep you coming for more. I enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros which was a decent portion with my eggs cooked as requested. Seating is limited, but the food and drinks comes fast so we got seated in a decent time. We will be back again to enjoy Clayton's coffee house!
My daughter and I tried Clayton’s Cafe for the first time. We went during the non busy hours so we did not feel crowded. We really enjoyed the classic 40’s cafe atmosphere. The service was excellent and our food was delicious. We ordered a BLTA with an egg, the Black Forest Ham croissant sandwiches , with sweet potato fries on the side. For drinks we ordered a coffee, and a matcha iced tea. Good quality food ! Photos don’t do justice! You definitely receive your money’s worth! We look forward to going back again.
The service staff were very friendly and observant. The restaurant had a classic ambiance. The historic horseshoe bar was a great place to sit and enjoy our food. Our meal started well with tasty biscuits and gravy, and my fiancé's chicken fried steak was satisfying. We'll definitely come back, what a lovely spot.
I’m a sucker for breakfast for dinner and Clayton’s did not disappoint. I ordered the Veggie Omelette which came with a side of toast (Rye Bread) and potatoes. My partner got a side order of pancakes and Chicken and Waffles. Our food came out quickly and everything was delicious. Classic diner vibes. Just wonderful, including all of their servers.
We visited the weekend before Christmas and waited about 30 minutes, which felt expected given how busy it was. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice to have. The food was decent and the portions were large enough to share. Everything was filling and came out hot. Service was friendly but clearly stretched. Our waitress forgot us a couple of times when we asked for water and coffee refills. Overall, it’s a popular Coronado breakfast/brunch spot with generous portions. A good option if you don’t mind a wait during peak times.
Great location for anytime of the day. Wasn’t too crowded on the two occasions that I have visited. Ordered the Prime Ribeye which came with a lot of sides. I would have to say that I’m only giving 3 stars because the dish overall felt a bit too greasy, vegetables were heavy with oil which I wasn’t a fan of. Was looking for something lighter. Fries were fried perfectly, would highly recommend. The steak itself was a bit greasy and thin, but it tasted fine. Would go to a steak restaurant though for steak next time. Will have to say that though the tortilla chicken soup was small, it was very good. Will be coming back to taste more of the menu.
Visited this charming breakfast spot with its authentic 50s-60s nostalgic vibe on a Friday morning around 8:30am. Perfect timing as there was no wait when we arrived, though a line had formed outside by the time we left. I needed to with an English muffin, which was not what I ordered, but it turned out to be good nonetheless. The atmosphere really transports you to a simpler time with its vintage decor and classic diner feel. Pro tip: Come early on weekends to avoid the wait. The growing line when we left suggests this place is quite popular with locals. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a traditional American breakfast experience with a dash of nostalgia!
Went here with my girrrl on a Sunday. I have to say the food is gross. We both ordered items from the area hilighted in blue on the menu. The chicken was stringy, and tasted like frozen Walmart chicken. This was espically true for mine which was the - "Franny's Fried Chicken Sandwich topped with cream of corn & served on our homemade buttermilk biscuit with choice of crinkle cut fries or coleslaw $17.99" Visually it looked like an apple fritter covered with canned corn. My partner wants me to add that her chicken strips tasted like "rubber plastic". The mozzies were soggy. Fries were over seasoned with some sort of Cajon seasoning which I typically like. There was bad 70s disco playing in a 50s dinner with juke boxs at every booth. Speaking of the booth...the table is to close to your stomach and you sink right into the ground - booths uncomfortable. Atmosphere was bubble gum 50s dinner. Simple changes should fix it. Instead of 50 items Do 20, but do them good with quality ingredients, with a chef that has experience cooking food that is not from frozen. We ordered "house specialities". They were not! I would go to the beach then go to Rudfords. Fin. After reading the owners response to others - I would also like to say to the owner Andrew, that I am not the type of person to bring this up to my server, who was great. This is not about a refund. When a customer has a bad experience it is not now their burden to try and make it right for themselves. People can see all the good reviews and clearly people like Claytons. Personally, I like to write reviews for YOU & OTHERS not for me. I am a local and my opinion should be valued. I asked my partner if she wanted to order something else, which I would have paid for, she said it might be worse so we left. I don't wanna talk to you about it like you have wrote to others, I don't want an apology. I like reviewing local spots. Its done, maybe just think about the quality of food, thats what you could do for me. Thanks
