The place is always clean and well organized. That's the first thing I observe when visiting places. Food is always hot and fresh. The salsa bar has a variety of packed salsa and fresh beans. People are friendly and happy to help. Price wise....we'll every thing is expensive. But this place is not that expensive.

This restaurant is very clean, staff was professional and friendly. If you ask for extra salsa or beans any condiments, they just provide it to you, No drama. Spacious place to eat & compared to other taquerias, this one had a variety of options other than tacos. Their whole beans are really good. Their condiments bar is excellent & everything pre-packaged is so convenient to just grab what you need fast. Food is good & definitely will be returning.

I love this specific location. The tacos are soft and the taste is different compared to the othes. I have 2 close to my home, but decide to drive out for this one because its worth it . Not only is the food great but the staff is friendly.

This was finally my first time there. They had great pinto beans as a never-ending side where 5 different salsas also made its mark. The food is great. It's fresh, well cooked, well seasoned, and my burrito was huge and delicious. Not dry at all!

Great Mexican food!! I love that they have an array of cut-up onions with jalapeños and other delicious prepackaged chilies and spices for FREE for their customers 😋. I can also fill-up small containers with beans for free. Great place for take out or dine in.

Side condiment bar is always fully stocked with toppings, etc. Place is clean and employees constantly going around making sure it is. 100 times better than King Taco and other places I've been to. I have been coming here for awhile now and keep introducing family and friends.

Authentic Mexican food and open till 4 a.m.? Who could ask for anything more? I came in for a late Taco taste tonight and was pleasantly surprised. The parking lot was full and the seating in the restaurant was mostly full. This is always a very good sign. I got three soft tacos. Chicken, beef, pork. Wow! So very good in the green sauce was amazing. Might have been the best green sauce I've ever tasted. Hot and spicy with my lips still tingling comma but a nice strong lime flavor. An awesome balance between the two. Really enjoyed the flavors and if I'm ever up in this neck of the woods again I will be back to try some of the more unusual meets that they offer.

Best Service! Fresh Fast Food is always the better choice on the road. I go in, I order of corn tortillas. My party gets what they want. I then utilize the fresh condiments bar and grab fresh hot beans, onion & cilantro, lemons, salsas, grilled onions and chili FOR FREE, the free condiments bar is awesome and plant based friendly. The refill drinks station is delicious. If you order via uber eats, they prepare your order well in front of everyone. Thank you Tacos Gavilan, it's the best spot after the club when you/your party are hungry or need some food and drinks and an hour to sober up before getting on with your night. (Better then nasty Jack in the crack/box stop eating nasty fast food like Del Taco and Jack in the crack/box late at night going to bed with that on your stomach gross!) Just go to Tacos Gavilan instead it's a healthier choice! Always fresh, clean, delicious and plenty space for everyone to sit inside or eat in car.

I do enjoy going to this place for the street style tacos and their condiment bar or different temperatures of hot sauce and freshly packaged white onions. They also keep freshly grilled onions and pinto beans (small cups available) on bar for FREE to enjoy with your tacos. Only thing that is negative would be the size of tortillas they serve. Xxtra small and hard to eat the taco easily. Grab a fork. They do this to make it look like you are getting a lot of meat and save money. Just put meat of larger tortillas please!!!!

It's been two years since I visited this location. Was NOT pleased then about the food, service or wait time. So WE'RE BACK! And I have to say.... We were very pleased this go round. Was able to get a seat at the bar. Didn't have to wait long for Service. Bartender Iassac was Awesome, couldn't remember the other young lady's name? Great service & food. Ordered one of my fav meals and appetizer: Fried Cauliflower & Orange chicken w/brown rice, beverage was a cucumber lemonade 😋 My friend ordered a salmon, asparagus and loaded potatoes meal. Can't remember the name? Food arrived on time was fresh and delicious 😋 Couldn't finish it all, so that's lunch for tomorrow. However, I did order Linda's Fudge Cake to-go also for work tomorrow. I have renewed faith at the Cerritos location. PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Parking is another beast of it's own lol. Thankful to face gotten parking not too far from the restaurant. I really enjoy tacos and this spot didn't disappoint. The tacos weren't too greasy and they were well packed with meat. It does hurt to remember that the same taco costs me 50 cents in Mexico, but what else can I expect in Los Angeles? Been here many times for lunch. Great tacos. Actually, what is truly great about it is the condiment bar to the side. The beans, the chili, the onions, salsa.... it just adds to the whole taste and flavor of the food. Its usually pretty quick to get your food, though the line to order can be long. I've had tacos, burritos, and mulitas there, all very good. Some people say King Taco is better; one of my coworkers says that. I think King Taco is good too, but they don't have the condiment/salsa bar like here. King Taco just gives you a little bit of red/green chili/salsa on the tacos, but here its all you can eat. This is the main reason that keeps me coming back here.

Food was delicious but my gut couldn't handle it. Ended up spending more time on the toilet than I'd liked. Food going in was delicious though. For the untrained stomach (like mine) enter at your own risk.

The food is good. The place is very clean. The food is covered, and the condiments are packedged in sealed little bags. I was very impressed by that. There is plenty of room to sit and eat. The service was ok, the lady behind the counter who took my order was not very friendly or patient with me as it was my first time there and it took me a few minutes to decide what I wanted to eat. (Btw, there was no one in line behind me at the time. ) The carne asada super mulita was really good. It had everything I was looking for. My family thought the carne asada tacos were good, not great. We all agreed we would go back to eat there again in the future.

They are now making a very tasty burrito. Very good size for the price...hope they keep it up. Free frijoles is a plus.

Menu is small but good. Tacos are sold as singles. They have a good variety of meat selections and the double tortillas are soft and not greasy. The tacos might seem small to some but they pack it up with so much meat all you have to do is take off one tortilla and make yourself another taco with whatever falls off. Perfection. Their salsas are very good and you can also get beans from their bar. Their cebolla and cilantro is also at the bar so no need to ask for specifics when you order. The restaurant is pretty clean even when there are so many people. Best thing: open until 2am. Taco cravings in the middle of the night? This is the place to go.

We stopped in on our food tour of the USA. This is one of many in the LA area. We ordered the pork tacos and a burrito. They were fantastic. Best place to get a street taco here in Downey. Great place to stop and grab a bite after several doctor visits this morning. Great beans, always fresh, could almost be s meal in itself with all the accompanyments, but the meats are very delicious. The place is clean, always busy, but very fast. It's a great place for a simple bite.

I enjoyed their bean and cheese burrito. You get a really big burrito for a very reasonable price. They use white cheese instead of the typical yellow nacho cheese that you would find in say, a Taco Bell burrito, and thus it tastes more authentic (though not necessarily more flavorful). Overall, I would come here again should the craving strike.

After they put this restaurant you didn't want to try it because there's nothing like home made tacos that I cook. But for a quick taco or yet nachos here is a good spot for your buck and taste. Nachos here are fire!...😶‍🌫️😁 Ahaha.. seriously good.

So I came here yesterday to eat because I was really craving Mexican food and I’ll say one thing. Even in the chaos and long lines of the holidays, Tacos Gavilan is very reasonable waiting-wise. It’s like fast food, but not exactly. It does take them anywhere from 10 minutes to about 15-20 minutes to get your food out, but the greatest part is it’s not your typical greasy-oily crap. It’s authentic, real Mexican food, and it’s delicious. It’s not too oily or greasy, they have a bar where you can get your sides, and they have a very friendly array of drink choices like jugos and horchata and sodas. I will say; their horchata tastes like its way too sweet and needs to be stirred by hand rather than a machine, but that would be my only complaint. They are also EBT- friendly! Hot food welcome!

Everything here was good. Service was very quick, and the dining area was clean and spacious. Toppings for your food are in a convenient bar and they're in sealed packages to stay safety conscious. You can also get unlimited little cups of beans. I will definitely come back again for some good fast food Mexican style, but if I want a flavorful sit-down experience, I'll go somewhere else.

The restaurant was very nice and clean and large. The restaurant had ample seating. I like how you can see the kitchen preparing your food fresh. They place was organized and ran well. By the time I finished grabbing any sides that they had to take to go, my food was ready. I had a super asada quesadilla. The food was good, but it wasn't anything special about it. I will come back to try other things from the menu.

Note, previously it would have been a perfect 5 star review. Not sure what they changed in the salsa, it could have easily been one new employee, who knows. But great service either way.

Totally shocked there is a 90 cent charge because I asked for week done...

The meat was a tad bit chewy not as tender as I'd expect it too the flavor was decent. It's not like king taco zesty flavor. I like the beans with a little onion n cilantro they have there and the pineapple juice was cool kinda taste like tamarind flavor one.

The parking situation in this Tacos Gavilan isn't great and it doesn't help that it doesn't have a drive-thru. However if you can get past all that you'll enjoy some decent food, the cooks make the food quick so they have that going for them. Overall it's a decent place for tacos but in my opinion they can't top the street tacos.

Asked for carne asada and al pastor and have to say they tasted the same. Socked in only tortillas. Visiting CA from out of state but have to share my honest opinion this food is disappointing. Service is great, opens late so a better alternative than JIB but again a bit dissatisfied.

The al pastor looks better than how it tastes. They put so many onions it in that the meat tasted like onions only. It had a bitter burned taste. It was very disappointing.

Went here at a recommendation from another reviewer. Now in the span of a week I've had tacos from a local restaurant, a tent, a drive through and a joint at the side of a busy street. This place is part of a big chain, so I was looking forward to a decent experience. The cashier couldn't speak English. I asked her for recommendations, and she could not do anything beyond waving at the menu board, and none of her colleagues moved to help her. Good thing they have a Taco Plate sampler, which comes with three tacos, so I ordered lengua (beef tongue), pollo (chicken), and al pastor (pork), while my wife tried the super mulita (two hard taco sandwich) with asada (beef). The garnish, salsa and lemon came in plastic pouches that I had to collect myself. I also ordered Agua Fresca, which I wanted to fill with horchata, but it was grainy, so I chose Pineapple juice instead. Unfortunately the meat in the tacos during my visit were not hot. In other places I've had better tacos, the meat is always fresh off the grills, spits, or frying pans, so I was let down by lukewarm tacos in this chain restaurant. Flavour of the taco meat was mostly bland, so I had to rely on the salsa for taste. My wife's super mulita came in hot (perhaps because the cheese has to be melted), and it was quite good, but it was overshadowed by substandard tacos.

The problem was the food. The ingredients in the burrito look mushy, as if they were thrown into a blender. The price was too high for the quality. The dining area is big and there are televised sports.

They say they give service members discounts. But it's a lie they only give it to emergency service members . NOT OUR MILITARY!!!! Via the manager; Jesus, who was very hostile and rude towards the service member that are not allowed to be in their service uniform in civilian settings. This is never an issue at other Tacos Gavilan establishments that accept the service ID. This location works on its on accord and regulations and is disrespectful to its service members and their sacrifice for our nation.

Terrible. Simply Terrible. My husband, son, and I came here because I was craving tacos and it was late. We were in town, and although he already knew it was terrible, he figured he'd give me a chance. Goodness, ended up with with upset stomachs, the 3 of us. And they had no radishes!! WHAT?! No way.
